There are going to be serious issues even if we transition to solar right now, because it costs more energy to build a solar panel using today's technology that will be realized by said solar panel in it's lifetime.
No, that's not true.
Energy payback time is less than 2 years for european panels. For chinese panels a little bit more.

It is very likely that solar panel efficiencies will continue to improve. Along with other energy technologies.

I believe global cheap electricity is coming soon.
703  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: List of Major Bitcoin Heists, Thefts, Hacks, Scams, and Losses on: January 19, 2013, 05:42:21 AM
Its shocking to see just how much money has been scammed off Bitcoin users in its short lifetime.

I was just saying the same thing to myself  Embarrassed

Why is this such a shock? The global GDP in 2003 was some 70 trillion USD. [Source] Global Cybercrime alone cost the economy 336 billion dollars. [Source] That's about 0.5% of of world GDP. Considering bitcoin is a new experiment with growing pains, and bitcoin transactions are irreversible, (often no way to fix mistakes, pseudo-anonymity, poor government/law enforcement support) it may be argued that fraud and theft losses should naturally be higher.

Foggy I am confused.  I have no new PM's here, and any mail sent to me at flaxceed@tormail.org has been answered.

I had sent PM and a couple of emails. The last email I sent had a read receipt request, and I have not received notification that its been read.

Do you have another email? Or I can try using some other mail service to send.

I sent another PM just now.

*EDIT*  PM answered. Thanks flaxceed.
706  Other / Off-topic / 3D Printers: Need advice for 3D printing business on: January 18, 2013, 04:52:27 AM
What the title says.

I am part owner in a well-established manufacturing facility with existing 3D CAD/CAM and CNC router capability.

Should I go with DIY kit such as this: http://www.reprap.org/wiki/Prusa , or is a commercial unit the way to go (such as: http://www.3dprinterscanada.com/3d-printer-comparison.php), and why?

What are perishable costs going to be?

Maintenance issues?

Is it a good idea to have lots of cheaper units in order to boost production?

How good is the print quality, and what machines are the best in terms of speed and quality of print?

709  Economy / Computer hardware / [WTB] Used SSD 64GB on: January 15, 2013, 03:05:33 AM
I need a cheap used 64GB (or larger) SSD. Must be a modern fast SSD, like an OCZ Agility 4 or Vertex 4, Corsair Force 3/GT, etc.

Shipped from Canada would be best. I can get a new OCZ for $70 + tax & shipping. Does anyone have a used one they want to sell? Maybe you're looking to upgrade to a larger one or w/e.

711  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Alex Jones does real issues (gun rights and anti-depressant drugs) a dis-service on: January 12, 2013, 09:28:29 PM
Red-blooded American rant aside, I'll wager the majority of people will side with Alex after watching that video. No harm done & net positive benefit IMO. Exposing Piers Morgan's agenda, by itself, is a win.

Hey, I really don't care either way about most old white dudes. I thought it was pretty funny mistake actually.

My bad, didn't realize you had e-mail problems.  I'll PM you both of their e-mails in case it's their plain text causing the problems.

No hard feelings mate.  Smiley

I see my mistake now. Its sealswithclubs dot eu, not swc.eu.
