It also looked like he had to be a lot more politically correct there. Almost apologetic that he made another coin. Undoubtedly, the atmosphere is still volatile toward dissidence with some people there. Maybe it's time to hold small Dash meetups now? Not quite convention, but more like Bitcoin Wednesday? This was a difficult presentation to do. Be nice to Bitcoin, realize most of the people have English as a second language, and you have 30 minutes to share with 3 others - but don't go warp speed or act with an ego..... and running an hour+ late. That's the real world..... I think we would be better off if Dash can do more presentations at the next conference. Split it into a few presentations with different speakers at different times talking about different aspects: Dash specific(Evan), Distributed Governance + Autonomous Organizations(Dash Foundation), decentralized exchanges, and 2nd tier networks and security. Have BolehVPN be the submitter of the talk for 2nd Tier Networks and security and work both angles on the talk. They spent what an hour talking about a bitcoin charity. That concept is easily understood in 2 minutes. Frankly, it might be worth it to just buy the watch for 5 Bitcoins to end the auction early and talk about Dash for an extra 30 minutes. Of course, that might not come across the right way. We just need something of value to show to get time to talk. Maybe how to setup a masternode, use a wallet, who knows. It doesn't necessary need to be Dash specific. But anything crypto will naturally showcase a Dash feature or two. The presentation was one thing. But also what was really important and worked pretty well, was all the discutions with all people presents at the event, and all the contact that was made during the full 2 days and nights. That is encouraging. I was just looking at the chart on page 25 of the Dashpaper comparing Dash to Bitcoin, Ripple, etc. It would be interesting to see how many different companies are required to interact with Bitcoin to offer a similar level of service as proposed with Dash Evolution. |

You need to filter out the a few of the fields or you're going to get spammed to death. Quick and dirty, change your mnbudget show to something like: dash-cli mnbudget show | grep Name | sort to only extract the unique names for comparison. Thanks for reviewing. It only sends an email when the mnbudget show output is different than it was 1 hour before. So this would only happen if a proposal was added, removed, or changed. And then only the change is emailed - not the entire proposal list. I suppose the formatting could be cleaned up a bit, but the data that gets emailed is mostly relevant. Uh huh, keep trying to spin your massive disappointment  What happened to the Evolution demo Evan promised in Miami? Pushing it back 1 year sounds good to you? Yeah so disappointing to hear all this DASH news. Such a terrible shame to see all these whitepapers and devs hard at work. So depressing to see my masternodes making coins every day. Meanwhile, what joy to listen to Adam White's incisive commentary. The boy is a legend. Go Adam. Go XMR! We will be writing the software for this project in stages, the first stage will take about 2 months to have a very early prototype for Dash Evolution that includes a basic implementation of DashDrive, Primitives, DAPI and a simple T3 wallet. In six to eight months, we should be entering testnet phase with most basic functionality. In 12-18 months, we plan for the first release version (a stable prototype). Keep in mind, we're going to start revising the design tomorrow to try and figure out the best possible design to create. I think I've found a way to simplify this project by about 75%, which means we can have something much sooner. I'll start working on a proposal. Wow, already improving on Evolution. Fantastic news. I don't know how you stayed so calm during your talk. I wouldn't be able to stop preaching and bragging about Dash this and that. Nice job. |

I've been trying to get an answer to the question, why do you need to make friends and exchange addresses if you can also make anonymous payments with the "next address available" to someone else? I don't understand the advantage?
I do understand the advantage of the networking, having friends, or just profiles you can pay to, as is done for Paypal using email addresses. But why the storage of other people's payment addresses? Does it speed things up? Is it more secure?
And again, if you can open up your wallet on any device and it's always up to date no matter which device you last used, why does the paper say everything is stored on your device locally?
Just taking a stab here... I think it is either anonymous or not. If you buy something to ship to you the merchant knows your name/address so it isn't anonymous. So just use your dash account(maybe tied to email) to pay. Looks like you can also send a message with the payment - cool feature if I am reading that right. If you just want to send funds anonymously you send to a generic address. I would think your private keys are stored on your device. Like a standard wallet. You just don't store the blockchain. Blockchain is stored in masternodes. |

I just watched Evan's presentation. Very well done, and a nice round of applause at the end. The most impressive point he made was how, in just 3 months of DGBB, the Dash blockchain has funded three conference visits (Netherlands, Mexico, and Miami), and the purchase of dash.org. Basically, he was able to get there and present and hand out pamplets etc. because of payouts directly from the Dash blockchain. That's pretty remarkable, but I think it may take a while for 'the markets' to recognize the importance of Dash's DGBB.
Personally, I've worked for two well managed, publicly traded tech companies. When it came to suffering through very depressed stock prices (on several occasions in my career), at both companies the execs were careful to tell employees to be patient, just keep executing on projects on time and on budget, and eventually the accomplishments would be recognized and rewarded by Mr. Market. I have to say they have been right every time. I think Dash will follow the same experience, on steroids.
Well said. They say that patience is a virtue! What is important right now is to build the protocol, build the infrastructure, and grow the community. The current price is meaningless. We are already so far ahead of Bitcoin in experience, but crypto in general is hard for the average user to understand. What Dash is embarking on is closing the gap between crypto nerds and the mainstream population. Once crypto becomes easy for the user though Digital Cash, demand will rise and the price will follow. I wouldn't be surprised if we surpass Bitcoin in market cap fairly easily. It's market cap is still tiny in the global scheme of things. This whole industry is still in it's infancy. Dash Evolution will also give users the ability to convert to and from fiat using using converters.
These are special users that provide another service for the network and are paid a percentage
of the transaction to process it. Converters will be rated by users who do business with them,
and this reputation will be crucial in helping other users decide which converters are most
reliable and trustworthy. The result will be a safe and global fiat conversion network. So anyone providing this service as a converter will need to register as an MSB? I can't see any logical away around this. Wow, I thought this would be in there....there were hints. Awesome. Also the fees for converting will be taxable income. No MSB if: Each converter is anonymous(not linked to a taxpayer/employer id). Or Dash is only considered a commodity. (then a commodity traders license will be required instead) KYC is still required to confirm customers are non US, right? This gets complicated so we will want to be clear how this will work. |

I think it is meaningful that Vertoe emerges in our thread.(even if it isn't the real Vertoe) The last quote Vertoe made in this thread in April was: "....I will not return or contribute to darkcoin as long as it is nothing more than a company selling a product." I guess that means Dash is doing something special. Changing minds one at a time......  That's a valid reason to leave. She/he had an idealistic view of things. I still think Dash is the best possible way of achieving the same goals, but yes, it needs to run in the traditional, proven to be successful ways: IE, a business with a product. But a completely decentralized business with a decentralized, earth shattering life changing product. I suspect Vertoe is young and thus highly idealistic and not able to think outside her box. She may be right, and this approach may fail to push the world in the right direction. Certainly, it won't be done in a radical way, but in an easing, bring the world into the fold way. It's young Malcolm X vs. Martin Luther King Jr. I prefer MLK jr. as the right, non-violent solution. At the time Vertoe left, I was a little new to Darkcoin. So I was a little worried about the name change. None the less, I thank Vertoe for the cheap coins he dumped for me. Lol. We have made many improvements since then, Vertoe leaving is irrelevant to what Dash has now! Tante, didn't someone create a tip jar for quoting trolls...... |

If anyone has not sound or vision try disabling html5 everywhere in your firefox browser addons so you default to flash player. I use Palemoon and even with plugins disabled it wouldn't play. I just ran with Chrome and away she went and included a nice chatbox. Anyone know if there is a plugin to convert the chat to English. |
