85 designs submitted on the designcrowd site! Should be a lot of great options, can't wait to see them in ~2 days.

Wow, this is going to be VERY difficult!  Too much of a good thing!  LOL  Believe me, if you've seen what people have come up with at http://darkcointalk.org , you'll know what I mean!  And that's only about half a dozen!
702  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | ASIC Resistant on: March 31, 2014, 08:47:15 PM

A c h m a c h i n g !

But, but but... whatdoes this mean?

Google translate says it's Irish and translates it into English the same a Irish, LOL

This is now a deep mystery for me, I must know!
703  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | ASIC Resistant on: March 31, 2014, 08:41:16 PM
Hehe fun thing.

We all believe in Eduffield but we are a bit skeptical towards Darksend.

So.. Eduffield if you just say it will work for sure, we all can start buying more DRK!

It's code... code can break if it's not clean, extremely well thought out, trial-tested, reviewed, etc etc. It needs time to be patched to better levels of reliable functionality and prove itself, just like BTC code is taking years and still has questionmarks if something can break it and render it useless. Even things like stratum, kgw, dgw, need fixing. You can't have complicated code working flawlessly from day 1, no matter the assurances. That's just how it is.

It's always better to have realistic expectations rather than unrealistic ones because that way no disillusionment can occur later on and comments like "ohhhhhh disaster, darksend is a flop" start to spring up after some bug or something.

You know, the solution eduffield came up with is very simple, has about a 99.9% obfuscation (enough info, you maybe able to make some associations with enough power, but very expensive).  This is why I see this as a huge advantage:

1. the simpler something is, the more directly it works, the less "holes" that will be found!

2.  The "hole" this system has is obvious and a clear solution has been implemented. I think it will be very difficult if not impossible to take advantage of this system because of the fine charged if there is any funny business.  It's financially unfeasible.  This is the only "hole" that can be seen and it is logically and financially closed.

3.  The NSA possibly could find probable cause that a wallet belongs to a person, maybe even that that person has made repeated purchases to another person, I don't know.  They almost have infinite funds.  However, if I were the NSA, I'd try to get this information by infecting computers with back doors etc... malware, which they already do according to Snowden.  Who can defend against a government that does such things, and ours does.  The only way to protect ourselves from the government is by staying off line.

So, you can pile more systems of obfuscation on top of DarkSend as it is, but you would only make it have more hidden holes that could be discovered by a malicious person who could do a ton of damage!  Keep it simple stupid, is a successful acronym for a reason: KISS

And finding a simple yet extremely effective solution is a sign of brilliance.  E=mc(2) came from clearing out the debris and only looking at the facts, the clear facts.

here is my suggestion for the drk-logo(s)

have a closer look at the logo-discussion:

https://www.darkcointalk.org/threads/logo-discussion.105/

Seriously impressed with this - I especially like the way the circular 'd' shows kinda how DarkSend works (in a very loose manner, but still cool) :-D

n00b, did your read that or did you "get" that?  Just want to know?  If you just "got" it, that'd be a big plus, because I read it before I thought about it, so I don't know how naturally it comes across Smiley

I do like it though, a lot Smiley

Ugh, internet went down, got it fixed now though.  No idea how long it was down, grrr!

Anyways, Just want CHAOSiTEC to know that the dice game is working for me now, and I have no idea why.  Maybe you fixed it?  Maybe I'm crazy.  I give it 50/50 either way ;P
706  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | ASIC Resistant on: March 31, 2014, 07:23:36 AM
haha yeah, and I definitely don't have the nerve to day trade so I suppose I'm in it for the long haul too (and probably need to stop fixating on these boards and the charts 24/7) haha!  Grin

I gotta say, once in a while, I tell myself I need to go "out there" and see what's happening, and I just spent an hour looking at the announcement forum.  It's nothing short of hilarious and frightening at the same time!  Ugh!  My husband says I should find a more profitable coin to mine so I can buy drk, but frankly I don't see one I'd trust to be around when I'm ready to sell, LOL.

Nah, I stay here.  If nothing else, I support the hash.
707  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | ASIC Resistant on: March 31, 2014, 06:04:12 AM
That's what is hard for me, being totally new. This is the first major dip I've seen/been a part of, whereas people who've been around for a while may feel more comfortable that it'll probably go back up. My first instinct is to cash out (I don't have a lot invested so it's not money, just get the maybe irrational panicky feeling of seeing the red) but I'm hanging on.

Oh yah, it's a major roller coaster for certain.  A day trader's dream I suppose, LOL.  I suspect when people get more used to cryptos it will settle down.  But even the stock market jumps at bits of news all the time as well, yet then it bounces back again.  I'm a long-term kind of person, so I don't even look too hard at the current prices.  It would probably drive me nuts, LOL.
708  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [GER] GermanyCoin! Airdrop launched at germanycoin.net ! on: March 31, 2014, 05:43:32 AM
Wirklich?

LOL

The anti-Darkcoin FUD is at an all time high. There is hoonsukmom's another runaway child going rampant in the Alt subforum

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=276866;sa=showPosts

You know what would be funny?  If when these threads are created, nobody showed up to challenge them.  They could sit there making up FUD to their hearts content, and then they'd get so bored listening to each other, it'd actually be hilarious!

Thank you, I will update.

Wish you all the best as well. Im sure we will chat more in the future Smiley

Are there any Dark day traders here by any chance?

too afraid to, I don't have that 6th sense, I'd just lose lose lose, LOL
711  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | ASIC Resistant on: March 31, 2014, 03:16:31 AM
TanteStefana i think youre right. For all we know this can all be the start of something even greater. Who knows maybe in 5 years 1 darkcoin could be worth like 5grand who knows. So I think ill go 50/50 on this one and play it safe.

Thank you guys for the replies <3 ill be around forever heheeueuehehehe

In crypto we trust. In Dark we evolve.

I think that's an excellent idea.  You should cash out and enjoy what you've got a little, even if you weren't afraid of the future.  Good luck to you! Let us know how your life is changing, it would probably inspire us all Smiley

edit: oh yeah, stay away from condos.... either rent or buy a house... condo's are a sink hole as an investment.

Well, that depends on where you buy.  In Houston, it'd be stupid, in Pacific Palisades, on the beach with a great view, not so stupid, LOL
713  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | ASIC Resistant on: March 31, 2014, 03:12:09 AM
Hey guys, first off. Love this coin, love all you guys putting all the hard work i love everything but I need someone to help me out here.

I have a really big amount of darks, ive been non stop buying with the daily profits i get from trading btc so i buy around 100 a day, its been 1month now so i have a decent amount of darks and im loving this coin because it seems to be stable with a great future.

This is my concern. I am seeing a trend, people are cashing out btc and getting the fk out of this whole currency system.

This makes me feel like cashing out the thousands I have and closing the books. Although i really want to see a future in this coin, I am wondering if this whole virtual currency is gonna die and if Darkcoin was simply too late to join the race.

Please make me change my mind because I really want to buy this condo and start my life but if this rises I would be lightyears ahead for my age than just a simple condo.

Mixed emotions fellas, fuarkkk
First and foremost, if you need the money then cash out. Simple. Bitcoin and alts to a larger extent are risky. Use what you can lose. The benefits to staying in drk are numerous. They consist of a qualified, dedicated dev. Not only a top notch computer guy but we all know who he is. Do you understand the importance? Who is Baritus? Who is Brotoxer? Who is Hydropinca? Rewt? Secondly, the features being implemented into drk are truly innovation at its finest. To quote Creusa from Ion, "This much is certain, nothing is permanent".

Thank you for the reply, I understand where youre coming from in terms of the Dev and that`s why I want to stay, its the whole currency that seems to be falling in a down trend. Seems like Darkcoin should have been invented before Bitcoin and none of this Bs would happen. Its not money I am losing, my first investment was 3bitcoins. Which i purchased Sexcoins for. I had a feeling it would boom and 1 month later those 3 bitcoins turned into 100bitcoins+ worth it was crazy. So all the money i have is just for fun but could also use it. Although I am a believer of this coin, either i stay here or i use it to help not only me but my family and others that are close to me with financial problems. Although if this booms I can not only help them, but I can start my sisters life with a push and let my dad retire Smiley

...hmm

What about a middle of the road choice, keep 1 or 2 thousand dark, and sell the rest?  I think those 1-2 thousand dark will multiply, and if you made that much, it's almost like completely cashing out Smiley

Honestly, I don't think anything can stop crypto currency now.  The cat is  out of the bag.  But people do tend to freak out at every bit of news.  It may go down farther, it may suddenly jump up again, I don't know, but I don't think Bitcoin will die, and I do think Darkcoin will eventually be #1.  but what YOU should do, I couldn't say.  Perhaps only leave in what you can afford to wait for?

Can't find what I'm looking for - - -

Wallet will not sync - can I get some nodes for my config file???

Thank you in advance :-)

I wasn't able to get my wallet to sync either, neither my windows or ubuntu wallets.  I then downloaded the beta, and they synced.  However, there could be bugs in the beta, so it's up to you if you want to use them?

is it me, or has the network nearly doubled in the last week or so?

just saw over 700 difficulty.  Wink

The network has definitely been growing.  Because it swings back and forth quite a bit, you kind of have to think in averages, but certainly it's been in a strong growing trend.

Actually, I can't make any  of my previous bets.  I have to come up with a new combo each time!

Ah.  hum... for newer windows, it's rated the safest so I use it.

ill have to look into the rendering in different browsers...

oh, to be clear, refresh balance doesn't work, I have to refresh the page.  It would be nice to have:

the settings last from bet to bet
Feedback in the form of winnings or losses in an output, bit YOU WON! sign or TRY AGAIN! (always positive to keep people playing, LOL)

Now I made another different bet, won, re-created the same bet, won again, but no payout, no pay-in, did same bet again, and again, didn't happen.

I think if you want to re-make the same bet, it doesn't go through, only if you change the bet will it go through???
Nope, I can't make any  of my previous bets.  I have to come up with a new combo each time!

And now I just realized that my 3x290 + 1x290X rig (used to be one more 290X but that one recently burned out Tongue) takes out 1/15 of the whole network speed. Cheesy
I guess I could easily mine it directly without the help of a pool (may be I actually will, just because that feels better for me for some reason I can't shape into words). And now I miss my 5. card even more.

So your 4 card rig is getting 1000 Mhash mining DRK?  Interesting claim...

Oh forgot about this.  I was going to post that maybe you're looking at your pool's total hash, but not the network hash Smiley
