701  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bitcoin-Central, first exchange licensed to operate with a bank. This is HUGE on: November 25, 2013, 10:24:12 AM
I don't understand most of what you are talking about and I am not going to spend time trying to analyze it.

So then get lost, you inconsiderate, stunted asshat. I'm sure the DMV or whoever has a nice long line you can rot in.

702  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bitcoin-Central, first exchange licensed to operate with a bank. This is HUGE on: November 25, 2013, 12:44:51 AM
My information comes from listening to the people who are actually setting up business, have employees, investors, etc.

Which is why your "sources" include the Let's Talk Teatime Super Derpy Dork Hour.

If you listen to the interviews of the people starting up large scale business they scoff and the stuff you are saying.

Produce actual arguments or again, learn to stfu. This isn't a stage for your completely irrelevant and characteristically vague assertions piggybacked on the work of others. And no, nobody gives a shit about clueless newbs with pretensions to "starting up large scale businesses" scoffing, so they'd best be damned authoritative arguments.

Bitcoin is a protocol that has many uses and will disrupt many current technologies.  If you think it is going to change the entire world, that the whole world is going to switch over to Bitcoin, that governments and laws will somehow disappear, ... then you are living you life within a video game and not reality.

What's disappearing is the potential impact of idiocy such as yours.
703  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bitcoin-Central, first exchange licensed to operate with a bank. This is HUGE on: November 24, 2013, 07:41:24 PM
The Bitcoin ecosystem is filled with business people who started out intending to 'stick it to the man' and ended up as cowed cheerleaders instead.  Those who were not able to make the jump have largely exited the industry.

You describe two categories of peanuts.
704  Economy / Securities / Re: [CRYPTOSTOCKS] Gigadice.com - IPO Prospectus - [BTC, LTC, Paypal Cashouts] on: November 24, 2013, 06:19:15 PM
Given all of the recent uncertainty with regards to digital assets and just how poorly things can go for people involved in them (BitFunder, btco, etc.), what is your confidence level with regards to cryptostocks and should the worst case scenario come into play do you have any sort of backup mechanism in place to ensure that existing shareholders won't be left out in the cold should cryptostocks end up deciding to pack it in one day?

To wit:

Quote
All this aside : you can’t invest with Cryptostocks for the same reason you can’t swim in the desert, you can’t invest with Cryptostocks for the same reason you can’t sunbathe at night. You can’t invest with Cryptostocks because it can’t be done, nobody can do it. It’s a gamble, and as my PR aptly pointed out for the benefit of the forum muppetry long long ago, if gambling is your idea of “investing” then you’re much better served “investing” in one of the dice games. You can roll for “dividends” as often or as rarely as you can stomach it, you can set your “dividend” ratio in advance, and most of all you are actually playing a provably fair game. Which is a much better deal than the sort of crap computer-illiterate dorks with a ready software package and zero business experience can ever offer.

Full text on Trilema, chronicling for those of you who either missed it or weren't paying attention Cryptostocks' subconscious spelling out of why investing does not and cannot take place on its "platform", from the guy's defective self-IPO all the way to the recent listing of Dragon's Tale by some random scammer with no actual affiliation with the game.
705  Economy / Securities / Re: [CRYPTO-TRADE] Crypto-trade.com IPO and official thread! on: November 24, 2013, 05:57:17 PM
Other than burnside, neotrix knows that is better to stay out of the USA. Not sure if that is enough but it is at least better than the situation with burnside (us citizen).

Operating outside of the US, while certainly a good idea, is in no way a qualification for running financial services.

I hope CT won't become a dump for shitty assets like cryptostocks.

If a service encourages users to "start their own securities", you can be sure of it.
706  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bitcoin-Central, first exchange licensed to operate with a bank. This is HUGE on: November 24, 2013, 05:13:59 PM
I suggest you listen to the interviews with the US Money Transmitter Association that played on Lets Talk Bitcoin.

I suggest you stfu, figure out exactly where your position is in this soup and get better sources. Preferably in that order.

There's a reason nobody gives a shit what you think on any topic. That reason isn't that you've seen some truth other people missed.
707  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: MtGox are criminals on: November 24, 2013, 05:10:58 PM
So there is no way out other than providing it.

Or you could take the sane route and trade OTC. Using broken services because you imagine that's your only option is still sending money to the incompetent.
708  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: BIPS, Payment Service Provider (PSP) for Merchants on: November 24, 2013, 04:56:23 PM
It is imperative to understand that everything was wiped out from our servers and getting functionality back is priority #1.
The wallet part of BIPS was a free service to make payments easier for users.
Web Wallets are like a regular wallet that you carry cash in and not meant to keep large amounts in.
Hence we offered a paper wallet as a cold storage alternative for those who wanted a safe storage solution.
We will be contacting all affected users as already proclaimed.
We will need their consent to hand over information to the authorities for further investigation, which hopefully can assist in catching the thief.
Those who were not affected and have a bitcoin balance will also be contacted.
Most balances left are minuscule, but if you had more than a few satoshi’s in your wallet you are affected, and will be contacted.

Another priority is doing forensics data recovery to be able to investigate and assist authorities in finding the attacker.
Technical information will not be disclosed for security reasons.

Stolen coins have been isolated and server logs have been retrieved from data recovery:
https://blockchain.info/address/1LuG91tcSQxKj32BsCoRkX7yQLfj9LtkCs

Please be advised that attacks are not isolated to us and if you are storing larger amounts of coins with any third party you may want to find alternative storage solutions as soon as possible, preferably cold storage if you do not need immediate access to those coins:
www.coindesk.com/hacker-attack-polands-bitcoin-exchange/
www.coindesk.com/czech-bitcoin-exchange-bitcash-cz-hacked-4000-user-wallets-emptied/

Those werent exactly well established players in the bitcoin industry...

Just like this piece of shit.

This is your reminder, fuckwits:

Problem 4 : Permeating all the foregoing and sufficiently so to become a problem in its own right is the incredible arrogance of the recently liberated corporate slavebois working as independent coders. Seriously, start working on the BTC securities trade system of the future without ever having worked for MPEx, without having humbly presented your inept ideas to the most grandiose master Mircea Popescu (ie, me), without anything like that ? O, why, because you’re a special little trainflake of brilliance and genius who can ? Really ?

1. Learn the pecking order. All opinions are not equal. Some people are to be respected. Learn who. Some people are irrelevant and easily ignored. Learn who. More importantly than the who, learn why. Is it just because "everyone else seems to think so"? That's no good, forget it. Is it because they were right when everyone else was wrong? That's perfect, especially if it occurs with any sort of consistency.

The story of Pointless and Witless

One day the woodchipper was invented. Thenceforth :

Pointless : Don’t put your hand in the woodchipper.
Witless #n : Stop trying to deny people their woodchipper access which is a god given right god dangit!

Witless #n falls into the woodchipper and dies a bloody death.

~ * ~

Pointless : If you put your hand in the woodchipper you’ll die.
Witless #n+1 : You’re just jealous because your hands aren’t as long as mine. We’ll see who dies first!

Witless #n+1 falls into the woodchipper and dies a screaming death.

~ * ~

Pointless : Jezuz you idiots just leave the woodchipper be.
Witless #n+2 : Why are you being so unprofessional. Also I know better.
Pointless : Various idiots have said this before. Here’s some bloody remains.
Witless #n+2 : This is negative PR. You do your thing and I do my thing and we’ll see who dies first!

Witless #n+2 falls into the woodchipper and dies a painful death.

~ * ~

Pointless : Hello sir. Here at BTC House no noob by woodchipper at all.
 Witless #n+k : I know what I’m doing.
 Pointless : You couldn’t possibly.
Witless #n+k : Tell you what. You do your thing and I do my thing and we’ll see who dies first!

Witless #n+k falls into the woodchipper and dies a shocking death.

Time to get it through your thick skulls: you don't start a bitcoin business without having first been ok'd by someone. Get with the program.
709  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Bitcoiners work community - crowdfunding - hirebitcoiner.com on: November 24, 2013, 12:23:59 PM
All,
We have implemented the crowdfunding mechanism.

Now you are able to:
- start your own crowdfunding project
- gather payments from other users
- donate to projects

It all uses BTC only. The payments are done automatically.

You can track the progress of each projects towards the funding goal.

We also provide the escrow service for the crowdfunding.

Once the limit is reached the coins are sent to the project owner.

We are now working on the freelancing escrow service.

Please join the site at: http://www.hirebitcoiner.com

Regards,
RacerKRK

Cool deal. Btw, why not get in the WoT?
710  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: StuffCoins.com - Clean out your closet for btc! on: November 24, 2013, 11:38:58 AM
It seems like a decent way to help lower the barrier to entry for owning btc.

So far, this is merely a decent way to promote irresponsibility and laziness among newcomers. When I say tell us about yourself, I mean those details which enable us to verify that you're capable of doing that which you profess to offer. This specifically excludes disorganized musing. If you'd like to run a business and handle people's BTC, you'll have to follow the established steps.
711  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Perspective and encouraging words needed.. on: November 24, 2013, 11:15:45 AM
It`s wonderful to have the input of a professional bitcoin scammer such as MPOE-PR on this thread. Is this some kind of `Learn how to protect your home from reformed criminals` thing?

No, this is a learn how to read thing.

Although the smartness of storing coins at an online wallet can be discussed, the man came here for empathy, understanding and perspective. How would you feel if you fucked up, lost a lot of stuff that's valuable to you, and you get thrown in the face that your ways are insane? Sure - if you never have coins stored at online exchanges, you might never lose a coin - but what if your fav exchange got hacked or shut down, and you happened to have coins there? It wouldn't matter if you always instantly transferred coins out, if in the window you had them there, the service got shut down.

Of course cold wallets and at least 2 FA when dealing with online sites is the way to go. But there's nothing wrong with showing an ounce of sympathy either.

Nothing wrong with showing an ounce of sympathy. That doesn't mean that the focal point of learning the necessity of sane practices is at all affected, tho'. It's the focal point, regardless of how anybody feels.
712  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: www.certacoin.com the best way to get cash for your bitcoins on: November 23, 2013, 11:39:26 PM
When I first started this site it was basic programming that was trash. I advertised on here and attracted attention. I had the whole site redone to be more user friendly. I understand what your saying and I truely feel our site is the best. I looked for competition and found none. Many sites are in the way and exchanges take forever. I waited for 2 months for a withdrawal from mtgox. Finally I gave up and had them credit my account with the coins and I pulled them out a little at a time via localbitcoins. This method was terrible for me so I thought of a way I can bring safety and reliability to the bitcoin industry along with providing a cash for coin service.

I am also in the process of listing my 2010 Nissan GTR fully modified for BITCOIN in order to promote CERTACOIN. Like I said we have over 60 sales and I can see there is a demand for our service.

Keep an eye out in the marketplace for my listing and you will see it pop un in the next hour or so. I am just typing it up now.

Thanks

"I truely feel" does not and cannot ever replace data. The more you refuse to address the problems pointed out to you and instead rehash this marketing stuff, the more you have in common with scammers.
713  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: www.certacoin.com the best way to get cash for your bitcoins on: November 23, 2013, 09:29:12 PM
We are not empty best-proclaiming. We have over 60 sales and no issues so far.

Well that's great, but you're skipping from "I just want to see if this idea works" to "We are the best way to get cash for bitcoins" which is by no means a modest claim, and who's this "we", and how is anyone to verify your claim, and where is your demonstrated competence, and so on and so forth. If you'd like some people to test out your idea that's one thing. If you'd like to actually establish a presence in this market that's entirely another, and this isn't the way to go about it.
714  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Perspective and encouraging words needed.. on: November 23, 2013, 09:21:44 PM
Hey there MPOE-PR, good to see you

how is your employer holding up?

Howdy.

Mr. P seems to be doin' just fine.
715  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Personal responsiblity and the Ponzi scam. on: November 23, 2013, 05:01:36 PM
What reading material do you suggest?

Trilema's bitcoin category'd make a good springboard. And hanging out in #bitcoin-assets on IRC will give you fly-on-the-wall perspective on some of the more important discussions in this space.

Personal responsibility you say...

Yes. This includes reading and understanding something before you link to it.
716  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Perspective and encouraging words needed.. on: November 23, 2013, 04:47:36 PM
I have armory installed and its been syncing for 48 hours now... My laptop barely functions while its running.. I would say my tech savvyness  is certainly above average and some of what you said I have no idea what it means..

This is a good thing, not a bad thing. It's a learning opportunity, use the savvy you perceive in yourself to approach it well and gracefully, rather than to complain. It'll be hard, but it won't be anything like watching your possessions slip through your fingers because ultimately you didn't know how to grip.

I could likely figure it out but the majority of the population certainly can't or wont..

How can bitcoin be made more user friendly and yet safer for the masses?  We are a long way away from mass adoption without this being resolved.

Bitcoin is not for the masses. Great things are for those who can responsibly understand, appreciate, and use them.
