Safe to say Match gone Cheesy

No maiden test victory for them. 6 wicket down,  now they just need to make 2 more runs to avoid lowest total in test cricket history Cheesy

Previous existing record is 26 runs and its belongs to New Zealand Cheesy
7064  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: July 26, 2019, 12:23:00 PM
First wicket down for Ireland.

4 down now lol

Picture doesn't look good for Irish team. Let's see what Kevin O'Brian does from here. He's the key wicket to take for England's perspective.

Edit : 5th wicket gone and 24 run Cheesy

My prediction is like this:

If the lead is <150, then Ireland has a great chance of winning this test.
If the lead is in the range of 151190-200, then both the teams have equal chances.
If the lead is >200, then England has a great chance of winning this test.

Now the lead has increased to 181, and let's see whether they will be able to cross 200 or not.

TBH Yesterday pitch behaved very differently in every session.

First when Jack Leech and Jason Roy were batting, pitch was looking easy to bat after that bowlers took the advantage of pitch. Result; Collapse in English middle order but in the end English's tailenders added some useful runs easily.

So I prefer second scenario, if it happens then its going to be good contest between ball and bat again.

@haunebu : it's very clear that other poster is not making any sense and clearly a signature spam. If someone reports his post then your reply will be delete along with his posts. Recently happened with pffrt, royce and me where someone deliberately reported pffrt posts in cricketing thread.

So make sure you are not quoting any useless comment  in cricketing thread.

@haunebu : guess you missed this post?

I already stopped quoting and replying anyone who is not regular in cricket thread and who post once in a while for signature spam and don't follow the existing conversation.

And i noticed you quoted other guy as well with your deleted post. his post is deleted and automatically your post get deleted with him.

Pffrt's thread : My on topic posts are getting deleted

Now this test enter in very interesting situation as England 70 on board and 4 wickets down Bairstow and Root on crease so any result can happen because with three quick wickets Ireland bowling and fielders feeling some good one more wicket and England in some deep trouble.

Bairstow gone now England feeling pressure even Root is still on but now they are in danger

That's a beauty of test cricket. At one time England was looking very strong, but a couple of wickets including bad call of Joe Root with running out his partner messed things for England.

Half team already in dugout and inning's lead still in 2 figures, Joe Root need to play captain's inning here.
7068  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: July 25, 2019, 11:14:15 AM
Jack leach looking good at 40runs, didn't expected this kind of inning from no 10 batsman who came to bat as a watchman.

I would say it's solid start from English side.

It seems that Strauss wanted him to play for England

Fun Fact : out of 11 players, 9 Irish player are British born.

I remember reading this some where, can't find the source though.

if this match gets a result, that will be on the Irish side I think. I wish they get their maiden test win.

I want same for them but anything could happen who knows if England face another collapse or Good partnership.

But i think English top middle order will fight back today, expecting good knock from Joe root, not century though.
7071  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: July 25, 2019, 07:45:04 AM
@erikalui  You mixing up ODI and Test Match?  Roll Eyes

It's just a first day and Ireland playing his first inning in this test. We have second inning as well for England and Ireland, so the match is not going to finish today if Ireland reach the 85 runs target Tongue

Oh yeah, I forgot about second innings too. So after they get 85, they'll continue to play till they all get out. Then England bat to chase the runs (if any) and/or put runs on the board and Ireland again chase. Am I right? Last I saw a test match was in 2014 where England were playing with a score of 500+ against India I guess. :-P

That's fine, at first i thought you were joking or trolling Tongue but its not the case here i suppose.

Yes, Correct Smiley

3rd innings started in day 1? That's interesting. I really like test which get completed earlier. Ireland has good chance to win the match.

For this to happen, they need to knock down a couple of wicket with the new ball in the first session, if English openers survive the first hour, which I know one of them will not for long because Jack Leach is Night-watchman. England would not mind 1 wicket down after 1st session. If this happens, then the situation could be dicey for the Irish Team.

Unless another magical bowling spell waiting for English team around the corner, who knows? Tongue

Before proceeding to New Zealand, South Africa engaged in their concluding Test match with Australia and for the fifth time were defeated, Australia, although scoring only 153, winning in an innings with 72 runs to spare. For this game Australia brought in L. Nash, a Tasmanian fast bowler who jumped into prominence by taking seven wickets for fifty runs when the tourists played Tasmania. Short, but of powerful build, Nash made the ball rise in very awkward fashion, several of them getting head high. He and Ironmonger proved so effective on a pitch slightly on the soft side that in a little more than ninety minutes South Africa were dismissed for the sorry total of 36. This was not their lowest total in Test cricket for they had twice been got rid of previously by England for 30 - at Port Elizabeth in 1895-96 and at Birmingham in 1924. Their lowest score before this in Test matches against Australia was 80 at Melbourne in 1910-11. Cameron alone reached double figures and Ironmonger had the remarkable analysis of five wickets for six runs.

Before the day was over there were further surprises, Australia being got rid of for 153. The wicket appeared a little easier, but Bell, Quinn and McMillan were all able to get considerable work on the ball. Woodfull was out first ball, but Fingleton and Rigg put on 51, the only other stand being that between Kippax and Nash which produced 37. Australia's total was their smallest against South Africa, the previous lowest being 175 at Johannesburg in 1902-03. South Africa, 117 behind, lost one wicket for five runs before play ceased for the day, and on the Saturday no cricket took place, heavy rain during the night and a further downfall soon after two o'clock preventing any chance of a resumption. On the Monday, however, there came more sensational play.

The game was not proceeded with until quarter past two and then in less than an hour and a half the last nine South African wickets went down for another 40 runs. Thus South Africa were twice dismissed for an aggregate of 81, the lowest total for two innings ever recorded in the history of Test match cricket. The wicket was very difficult and Ironmonger once more proved practically unplayable. He dismissed six men for eighteen runs, thus having a record in the match of eleven wickets for 24. Five batsmen failed to score and only Curnow reached double figures.

The third wicket fell at 25 and then, with the sun coming out, the wicket became terribly treacherous, the last seven batsmen being dismissed for another 20 runs.

Quoting my another post for Longest Test match ever played in Test Cricket History

Btw when it comes to Test cricket, for some games even 5 days are not enough Cheesy . sharing some interesting story.

Time Less Test Match

Quote
Friday, 3 March 1939
Today marks the anniversary of the longest cricket test match in history. The game was played between South Africa and England in Durban. The game continued until the 14 March - 9 days in total. England needed 41 runs to win at the close of the 9th day, but the match was drawn because the English players had to leave to catch their boat back to England.

Due to the draw result, and the length of this match, it is often referred to as the 'timeless' test, and the only one of its kind in history.

ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod]
Test Cricket Predication and Discussion Thread [self - mod]
I hope we have everything for cricket now :-)

And both are self moderated topic now. It's a shame that I did not have this in mind when I created this T20 topic.

Great, thanks and make sure you are adding all thread links in  this thread's OP too.

Now it's all up to posters what they actually want and I hope everyone will take this initiative in a positive manner.

@royse and everyone : guys do you think that we need dedicated thread for test cricket? If yes then some senior member please open new thread for "Test cricket "  main thread doesn't look good with big flag and spam.
Lately I was thinking the same.

We have a dedicated thread for T20 now (I wish I could make it self mod, We need a separate thread for Test and ODI too. The main concern about the main thread is that the big flag which really do not look good however we all have to admit that it served it's purpose.

Yeah it's looks like mega spam thread  to others tbh and I am up for it if dedicated threads comes in play for all 3 formats.
Like you said We can't make self mod thread in gambling.  If not then can we discuss this with the main moderator? Don't know much about it so clueless and am not meta guy Cheesy
