I'm a tad confused by recent developments: Do we have a fixed date for RC4 release? I think July 24th was being thrown around?

this is from the official Development Update 15th of July 2014 : quote : Testnet Phase Development on RC4 is nearing an end and we expect that we’ll be firing up testnet in the coming week. Depending on what we find, testing and QA should take 2 to 4 weeks. Code Review Kristov Atlas has agreed to be the first to review the Darksend code. Kristov will be evaluating anonymity and overall design of our technology and will report his findings publicly. Pool hashrates   that looks like a 38.6% attack a few hours ago wafflepool got 51.6% .. thats why i got so worried. The pool obviously moved on to other cryptocoins by now. |

x11.ltc1btc.com and wafflepool have been mining drk separately for a while already, and they always had over 30-40% of the blocks, its x11.ltc1btc.com dumping 80g of chinese hashes onto wafflepool making it more obvious.
They actually made wafflepool less profitable for old miners

ahh.. this clears things up for me. But its still a very unhealthy situation, having one pool with so much power / hashrate I know about that 51% attack issue, but its not likely I think. I have been observing waffle pool, their tactic actually works quite well, by jumping in and out of different coins with 20-40GH/s, they can grab a bunch of blocks quickly without raising the difficulty or network hash rate, and this hit and run, riding the difficulty wave tactic is more profitable than sticking with a single coin alone. But now with over 100G at same time, it will get network hash rate and difficulty up and noticed. A few days ago, someone told me only 35BTC of darkcoin being mined per day, still small compare to volume on mintpal even if they are all sold. thanks for your reply.. interesting tactic of this pool indeed. |

There are enough GPU rigs out there to make it 99% if they all showed up at once, one of the reasons why ASICs are a GOOD thing. 50% is a non-issue. It happened plenty of times in BTCs birth... okay, my adrenaline is slowly sinking again edit : the poolhash charts help too... |

the huge difficulty hash rise always happens before a huge pump so new investors think it's smarter to just buy then to mine. This is also where the newbies get shaken off.
But with increased multipool mining will come a dump, those multipools HAVE to pay there customers daily so they are forced to sell daily, i suspect a dip but could be wrong, wouldnt be the first time 0.o The real time for DRK boom will be once Kristov Atlas peer reviews code, if he gives the ok then it will be a flood of fresh btc (i say "fresh" btc, but its prob the same people who panic sold after forks), any ETA on when this will start? end of July .. |
