7121  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: November 02, 2021, 10:19:02 PM
Bulls game was amazing, they really played a great offense and everyone focuses on that but they played amazing defence as well. By comparison Celtics had nearly 30-35 point 3 quarters if I am not calculating wrong, and they ended up with only 11 points on the fourth quarter. Sure there are times when players have bad stretches but a whole team who have been amazing suddenly becoming bad doesn't happen against bad defensive teams, Bulls really locked them down very well. Aside from the defensive clamp, Derozan played amazingly as well.

I am a Spurs fan and I kept saying that dude became even better than his Toronto years, wasn't a perfect fit but that dude keeps improving each and every single year.

The Bulls probably made the best offseason moves of any team.  I really like the team they've assembled and think they'll have their best year since Rose's MVP season this year.  I also think with no LeBron in the east this is probably the best chance they'll have at making the Finals since Jordan left...  Did I mention I like the team they assembled?

Tonight it's looking like somewhat of a boring TV night for the NBA with most of the games not being televised for me.  However, it does seem like a Lakers/Bucks parlay will give you a little return without too much risk tonight.  Might make the evening a bit more palatable.
7122  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [BOXING] Logan Paul vs Mike Tyson on: November 02, 2021, 08:05:35 AM
There is no way Logan Paul is going to win the fight against Mike Tyson even though he is in his mid 50s .

True, Logan Paul can not win Tyson by himself. But the judges can help him to do it. All he has to do is to close Tyson in ropes or corner, do at least one dazing punch and the rest of punches in the block. As this is an exhibition fight, and "nobody wants to really hurt anyone", judges can make an early stoppage, as they "save old man from beating". Judges can ruin this fight easily.

Logan is in pretty good shape and Mike is pretty old. I want to see him kick Logan’s ass as much as the next guy, but maybe the age thing will be an issue. Tyson will have weight on him too, and I think people aren’t looking at that enough. I think Mike will either get gassed and look terrible after the second round, or he’ll knock Logan out. Still no official announcement from either camp on the fight…

Paul George went off again tonight. He’s starting to look like pre-injury PG13 again. A shame he doesn’t have his sidekick out there with him, but at least he won’t tonight. He had to put up 32-9-7 on 5-8 from 3 point range but a win is a win no matter how hard the Clippers have to lean on him for it. It would be nice to see more wins coming from the Lakers/Clippers/Nets superteams.

If you ever want to make a silver for GPU swap let me know. I’ve got plenty of options for you to choose from and have been in need of a 3xxx series GPU for a while now. With winter coming up fast it wouldn’t be the worst time for me to turn some of my shiny into warmth for the cold nights because you know my house heater hasn’t been turned on in a decade.
7125  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Building a NFT Game with BTC. Where Do I even start? on: November 02, 2021, 05:55:45 AM
You don't seem self-awared of your plan.

Alright, so you want to build an NFT Game, but with Bitcoin. Do you know that Bitcoin isn't turing-complete? You'll have to work on a project that is, such as Ethereum.

Not only is Bitcoin not equipped for this sort of usage, but fees would make it pretty difficult to build something usable.  Ethereum makes it incredibly simple to build this sort of thing, but again, fees are a major drawback.  That's why we're seeing chains like Polygon kick everyone's ass with usage suddenly.  Low fees and usability can't be compared with ETH or BTC.  I'm not familiar enough with the chain to know the drawbacks of this combination, but I know if I were building a project like this today, I sure as hell wouldn't be looking at BTC or ETH.
7126  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and Stablecoin Regulation on: November 02, 2021, 05:47:39 AM
I was reading about the sudden support for stablecoins and the positive words being spoken about them.  The internet had the funniest response.  For a while USDC was trending on twitter with people all making fun of the situation by saying USDC was going to $1.50 and to buy a bunch soon...  This was funny to me for a few reasons.  It makes fun of all the ridiculous claims people are making about shitcoins but moreso I found it ironic that the thing that makes it so great "being stable" is also what makes it useless for the current crowd entering crypto.  They care about getting rich, not utility.  Stablecoins are worthless to these people, but you know some folks bought thinking they'd see it spike 50%...
7127  Economy / Speculation / Re: New All Time High Baby! - $66,974.77 on: November 02, 2021, 05:43:44 AM
New month underway.  No options expiry hanging overhead...  I think the market is ready to fly.  I'd like to see us end the week at $69K on the way to ending the month at $100K+.  Now is the time...  We've waited and held with the expectation that December of 2021 would be fireworks.  Now with it right around the corner I will admit that I'm anxious.  Has all this holding been worth it?  Will we see the fabled $200K in December that has been in the cards for so long?  It won't be much longer until we have our answer.  I've got my eyes on the moon.  Bring on the pump.
7128  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: November 02, 2021, 05:23:35 AM
LeBron tweeting that he's looking forward to playing the Rockets again tomorrow night.  Sort of strange for him to tweet about looking forward to a regular season game.  Especially one against what is very possibly the worst team in the league.  That makes me think he's got a little something planned.  There would be no better team to try and put up a monster game or maybe pull of some sort of shenanigans with Melo.  That or maybe he's just excited that everyone is talking about his reverse dunk from the other night so he's anxious to get out there and do something better.  We'll see...  I may have to throw a couple bucks on the Lakers just because.
7129  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: November 01, 2021, 06:54:32 PM
Melo has great experience in the game and it amazed me, even at this age, he's still very good.

I think this is probably the best situation Carmelo has had in his entire career.  Seeing him rise to the occasion and not just put up all star numbers on the offensive end like he's expected, but to be putting up the defensive numbers he has been is impressive to say the least.  He had several blocks and steals in the last game and I can't remember the last time I've seen that from Carmelo.  I think he realizes this might be his last chance at a ring and he's putting in the work.  I hope as the season progresses we see that same level of effort from LeBron James.
7130  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Immersion cooling - Beeminer hive - water consumption on: November 01, 2021, 12:58:08 AM
very interesting piece of equipment.

https://beeminergroup.com/en/catalog/beeminer-hive-12rx/

They mention a closed water circuit can be used. But you are in a desert so using a pond is not an option.

Neither would using a swimming pool as I think the water in the pool would get too hot.

Now if you dump the coolant heat into a closed water system with lots of truck radiators and fans maybe it works.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/403085000869?

so beeminer with immersion liquid exchanges the heat into multiple truck radiators. the truck radiators need shade from sun and tons of fans

you need to stay under 50c. and what is the desert max temp?  (120°F − 32) × 5/9 = 48.889°C
So you could have an issue due to the suns heat. I also know  my estimate of max temp could be off by 2 or 3 °C

The system I had mentioned getting a quote on used an evaporative cooling tower.  I believe it was more for massive datacenters and not small time usage though, hence the six figure cost.  I'm glad to see that development is being done in this area.  I know I would be willing to spend the amount listed as the sales price without batting an eye to have such a setup.  I wonder though how much cooling would cost that could be implemented silently in a residential environment.  Still, seeing the tank for sale at a reasonable price is a huge step in the right direction in my book.

Any estimate on a total cost with cooling solution?
7131  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Say NO to smoke detectors! on: November 01, 2021, 12:48:51 AM
made by a couple of companies the government selects.

Right! Why don't we see more homemade smoke detectors? Perhaps a parrot which is trained to shout "FIRE" if it smells smoke? Or maybe I could draw a picture of a smoke detector on my ceiling, and if I can't see it anymore, I'll know its because of smoke from a fire.

That is an excellent idea.  Imagine an entire industry being built around breeding of these parrots and new jobs for bird trainers, feeders, cleaners, vets, etc.  You have swayed me.  That's way better than some dumbass non-working smoke detector doubling our money supply and crippling our way of life for generations to make sure they're in every household to appease people who are afraid of fire.  I like how you think.  A legitimate solution by a free market participant that creates jobs instead of mandates that will destroy employment for millions.  If only others in our society were willing to think about solutions and how they could help instead of how they can impose their fear on others at the cost of us all, you could have saved my country 10 trillion dollars.  You have my vote for president.

People really going nuts for lamarcus aldridge right now.  He's having a great season so far and just joined the 20K point club.  A great comeback after retiring due to an irregular heartbeat scare last year.  I'm seeing people saying if he wouldn't have retired then the Nets would have won last year, and I think that's a valid argument considering they were a 1/2 a Durant shoe size away from likely taking it home without him.  Maybe in the playoffs he'll be able to step up and fill the hole left by no dominant true center on the roster...  We'll see...
7133  Economy / Gambling discussion / [Boxing] Tommy Fury vs Jake Paul on: October 31, 2021, 08:57:08 AM
I was surprised to see there isn't any discussion happening about this latest ridiculousness from Jake Paul.  It seems there always has to be a gimmick involved when he's fighting.

Personally, I think Tommy Fury is going to knock him out in the first 2 rounds, but I didn't think he'd win the last fight either...

December 18th...

https://www.espn.com/boxing/story/_/id/32504332/jake-paul-fight-fellow-undefeated-boxer-tommy-fury-dec-18-tampa

The 22-year-old boxer and the 24-year-old YouTuber have agreed to get in the ring in Tampa Bay, Florida, on December 18, and Jake claims that Tommy - who is the younger half-brother of heavyweight champion Tyson Fury - will change his name if he loses the fight.

Jake told ESPN: "I offered Fury to change his name to Tommy Fumbles or put up $500,000 of his purse if he loses.

"He chose to agree to change his name. Guess he puts more value on money then he does his own family name. Maybe he knows his family is disowning him once he loses, so money and Molly [Mae-Hague, Tommy's girlfriend] is all he's going to have left."

Earlier this month, Tommy promised to end Jake's career ahead of their fight.
7134  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Roman Booteen Bitcoin Coin on: October 31, 2021, 08:50:49 AM
His coins are amazing.  I exchanged a few messages with him a couple years ago about a collaboration, but most of his work is just too great to be sold off in any meaningful numbers as you can see from this one selling for what it did.  He's the sort of coinmaker I love though.  Always innovating something new and awesome.  Definitely worth checking out his work.

Instagram is a great source for finding talented artists.  I've had a few pieces of other sorts commissioned from artists I've found on IG and I'm always impressed.  Most of them are quite friendly, responsive, and affordable as well.
7135  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Say NO to smoke detectors! on: October 31, 2021, 08:46:13 AM
My advice is to be very careful about discussing your disdain for smoke detectors.  There is a great deal of people out there that don't even want to let you participate in society without a smoke detector installed in your home.  Talking about not having one could result in the loss of your job, friends, not to mention you won't be allowed into restaurants or to participate in any public events.  Even your children will have to come to school with pictures of their smoke detectors installed in their home or else they will be refused a public education.  In fact, smoke detectors are so important, I think we should double the money supply and cause a massive wave of inflation that will no doubt forever hurt the quality of life in this country just to make sure that everyone has a smoke detector made by a couple of companies the government selects.  Even if there is debate whether or not the smoke detectors actually work.
7136  Other / Archival / Re: [POLL] What to expect from Bitcoin in 2022? on: October 30, 2021, 09:45:01 PM
I'm a bit curious why everyone is so quick to point to 2013 & 2017 as a repeating fractal that will continue, while at the same time saying that the bubble won't pop this time because it's different.  It does give me hope though.  Somebody has to buy the top and judging from this poll they are beginning to line up to do so.  More power to you.  Somebody's got to take my bags off my hands.  I'll happily hand them over at $200K and buy them back at $40K in a year or two.  For now, let the pump continue!  Let there be 40 days and 40 nights of rocket ship rally in our immediate future.
7137  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [BOXING] Logan Paul vs Mike Tyson on: October 30, 2021, 09:34:27 PM
It's crazy that they seem to already have a date but it's hard to find any official confirmation of this event actually happening.  On the Full Send Podcast you had Mike Tyson talking about fighting Jake Paul, but he says he'd never do it because he, "loves that little white fucker" and wouldn't want to, "beat his ass."  Maybe he's less friendly with Logan?

I am still waiting to see an announcement on the Impaulsive podcast.  If this fight is real, they're no doubt strategizing on how to get the most bang for the buck on the announcement.
7138  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: October 30, 2021, 09:34:59 AM
Poor Paul George.  He thought he was joining a superteam to win a few championships with Kawhi Leonard and instead he's having to play the best basketball of his career only to take home one L after another.  He scored 42 tonight on 15-24 shooting and his team still lost by 19 points to the Portland Trailblazers who only had one player on their entire roster who scored more than 14 points.  That player being Dame Lillard who had 25 on 9-17 shooting...  I'll say it again, poor Paul George.  At least he gets to play for a team near his home city.
7139  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: October 30, 2021, 04:09:41 AM
This Nets game is hard to watch. Everyone outside of the stars is struggling badly. I think they’re being exposed for their lack of a big man now that DeAndre Jordan left and without Kyrie they struggle to find the role players open shots. I think they’re going to have to figure out a way to get Kyrie on the court and look to sign a big man somehow or it could end up being a rough year for them.

Yeah, I always felt like the Nets roster was a bit awkwardly constructed.

But at the end of the day there is no reason to not believe that they won't make the conference finals and the very least.

They have enough talent and the addition of Patty Mills was huge. Just a matter of coaching and chemistry now.

Durant by himself should be able to get them to the playoffs so I'm sure they'll be ok.  I honestly don't see them even making their conference finals with the lineup they have though.  A shame because they assembled a monster team and it seems like it might already be slipping away.  I thought it was a mistake for them to ever let Jarrett Allen go.  They did manage to turn it around tonight and end up with more rebounds than the Pacers.  The first half looked ugly for them on the boards.

I wonder how long Ben Simmons and Kyrie Irving will continue to not play basketball...
