7141  Economy / Exchanges / Re: what do you make out of Binance hack on: May 23, 2019, 01:06:35 PM
what I make out of Binance hack is, don't trust any centralized exchange with your fund as they all can be hacked. Sure they could secure every users fund but what about the future. For now the scammers stole just 7,000BTC that's not much for an exchange like binance. how secure will users fund be incase of future hack and the amount stolen is much more?. You can use centralized exchange for trading but don't store your fund on those exchange.
7142  Economy / Services / Re: [FULL] ChipMixer Signature Campaign | Sr Member+ | Up to 0.0375 BTC/w on: May 23, 2019, 06:31:56 AM
Because theymos stepped in, I don't think bill gator will be tagged red for too long.

Tranth, you have to understand the forum politics, there's so much going on there. Bill has stepped on so many toes and unless theymos steps in (again) those red tagged aren't going anywhere beside they aren't false either. Have you heard the saying "Don't bit more than you can chew", Bill did just that and his past caught up with him.

This is spreading so fast, the news is already been carried by our local newspaper. This guys generate pleasure is spreading only bad news to paint the community bad just so they can discourage more of our country men from joining cryptocurrency as the technology is becoming more popular in the country.

In total, Darknet markets generate some 800 million dollars yearly. Bestmixer.io’s clients are from all the world “with the emphasis on the United States, Germany and the Netherlands,” said FIOD.

The probe was launched following a report by the US-based cyber security firm McAfee.
7144  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Blender / http://bitblendervrfkzr.onion real or scam? on: May 23, 2019, 04:55:00 AM
Don't based your judgement on whether a campaign for the project is running on the forum or not (since the forum doesn't moderate scam or signature campaigns) but judging from no serious scam accusation have been labeled against their mixing service then they must be a legitimate mixing service provider and you're safe to use their service.
7145  Other / Meta / Re: [Ban Appeal] bill gator on: May 23, 2019, 04:11:52 AM
@theymos you know though your intervention on this particular issue will only make things worst. The account is already destroy with red tags and he has already lost his spot on the chipmixer campaign. Don't see how benefits the ban lifting was to him and this will only stir another reputed veteran argument on Reputation board well I'm keeping my popcorn ready for this one. Off to reputation board.

My thoughts, you'll have used this case as a perfect example to pass a message that buying of account is discourage and plagiarism is unexcusable by allowing him to serve his 60days temp ban and unban his signature privilege after then for the reason you stated above. Well you know what's best for the forum so kudos.
7146  Other / Meta / Re: [HACKED] Request to delete my Bitcointalk account on: May 22, 2019, 09:00:12 PM
OP if you have changed the password then possibilities are the scammer can no longer access your account unless S/he has access to your email. Since you don't what you account to be accessible anymore and the option of deleting your account isn't available then maybe writing to members of Cryptios might solve your case as they have the ability to
Cryptios:
-Main purpose is to investigate and accomplish account recoveries.
-They also have the ability to Lock accounts, if they believe it to be compromised.

Another risky solution is intentionally commiting plagiarism so your account will get banned rendering it useless but you should know you'll lose the ability to use the forum in the future so unless you intend leaving the forum for good don't used the option. (Not recommended but it'll do)

7147  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: African bitcointalk community hangout on: May 22, 2019, 08:14:10 PM
NEW TOPIC what are the possible catalyst for adoptation of bitcoin in Africa and how effective do you think they will be?.

I was just thinking, blockchain developmuin in Africa haven't been headlining the news as it usually does, what are the possible catalysts you think will resurrect the buzz Africa had when it comes to adopting blockchain technology and bitcoin. Government approval shouldn't be considered, as a possibility of that happenings anything soon is very low and other nations don't have their government approval yet blockchain development is improving yearly in those continent/countries. How do we achieve this in Africa countries too?

Such generosity, thanks for the payment, I'll be waiting for your next campaign or open slot in current campaigns. I'm already used to your style as a manager, managing my very first campaign until this one. I'll be waiting patiently Hhampuz thanks once again.
7149  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Single best piece of advice for a beginner on Bitcoin Talk? on: May 22, 2019, 03:11:10 PM
Greetings all, I have been hanging around this forum for a while now and trying to find a place where I can fit in among the different topics.

Take this advice from someone like myself that started his journey on the forum without any technical knowledge on bitcoin or any other altcoin. First thing you have to do is understanding what is been discussed. If you want your contributions to be considered as quality ones you fisrt need to carryout research on any discussed topics you have no knowledge on and it isn't a must to contribute to that particular discussion at that point in time (leave if for those that already have an idea of what is been discussed) because possibilities are the same topic will repeat itself in the future and by then you must have gotten the required knowledge to contribute to the discussion in your very own understanding.

Let me point out an example, when I first came across the topic double spending and 51% attack I had no idea what they were all about so I research on them and became familiar with the terms & now I can explain it to a newbie in my own little understanding and he/she will get an idea of what I'm talking about. I did the same when ever I come across a new topic and in the future I was able to contribute to similar threads without linking a website or commiting plagiarism.

What I'm trying to say is always make sure you have an idea of what is been discussed if not your replies will be considered off topic and deleted. Also note, as you research on those discussed topic do that for self benefits of learning not to commit plagiarism.
7150  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What are your unfashionable Bitcoin opinions? on: May 22, 2019, 12:52:52 PM
My unfashionable bitcoin opinion is that, Bitcoin will become boring as when it gets overpriced and crashing down [again] people will get tired of the whole bitcoin discussion as an investment option and move onto other new investment vehicles then bitcoin will now be used as more of a currency and I don't think bitcoin will survive as just a currency (although that was it's main purpose of creation). I don't fear any of these things happening anytime soon but I have a feeling it'll happen sometime in the far future.
7151  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What are people saying about Bitcoin? on: May 22, 2019, 12:44:05 PM
What you think about Bitcoin?

I just have one thought about bitcoin which is, Bitcoin is the future of money so if you intend investing in the future then owning some bitcoin will be the perfect starting point. Whether you think of bitcoin as a currency or investment vehicle you should understand it's the future of money and money involves currency and investment so bitcoin is the full package.
7152  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin G. a scam? on: May 22, 2019, 12:37:14 PM
If it isn't bitcoin and has the name bitcoin associate with it then it's another shitcoin which makes it a possible scam. Founders of such coins just intend to tap into the bitcoin hype and possibly decieve newbie into thinking they're buy bitcoin just as Bitcoincash did.

I see people thinking because it has huge marketcap that doesn't make it a scam are you guys new to the industry, are you forgetting bitconnect had more market capitalization than most legit project  as of when it was listed among top 20 coins on Coinmarketcap. To keep your fund safe, stay away from any coin associating themselves with the bitcoin name that's isn't bitcoin. BitcoinGold is just another shitcoin waiting to die off.
7153  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Happy Bitcoin Pizza Day! on: May 22, 2019, 12:23:56 PM
This should be an official holiday on the forum like a day members of the forum can share things for free like giveaways etc officially lol. I read online that this was the very first bitcoin transaction, was it truely the first? Because I saw a reply on the thread suggesting that he can trade his 10,000btc for $41 that only means others have been trading bitcoin before the plaza incident or is there something I'm missing?.

I'll be celebrating today by buying some pizza for lunch myself but this time it won't be 10,000 BTC but 0.0016BTC
7154  Other / Meta / Re: [Ban Appeal] bill gator on: May 22, 2019, 08:51:27 AM
Every week there's always a new drama to entertain the meta visiters with. What I don't get about the whole bill's ban appeal was, what was he thinking appealing a temporary sig ban with the exuse of he was not the poster of the plagiarized posts, sounds funny to my hearing. Seems like he was trying to clarify he isn't a post stealer but ended up reviewing he's an account farmers. Just skimmed through bill's feedback and guess what, he has previously tagged another users for trying to sell an accounts Such a hypocritical act.
7155  Other / Meta / Re: Give good posters amnesty on: May 21, 2019, 11:26:16 AM
Hear me, I have a solution, ban those members (who copy paste old posts or whatever) from posting, let their remaining profile stay active.

Such act will only encourage creation of alt accounts by defaulters. Just like in the trust system (all known alts get tagged when a user turns out to be a scammer or tried scamming), when an account get permanently banned it simple means you (including your alts) are no longer welcomed on the forum. You get a grace of creating an alt account to appeal your ban but commenting outside your ban appeal threads get"s you ban (again) for commiting ban evasion which technically are what your alt accounts are doing if they are allowed to stay active.
7156  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Less than 1 Year for Block Halving on: May 21, 2019, 08:56:24 AM
Well Bitcoin always has a way of surprising any doubter and when you consider the demand for bitcoin is steadily increasing yearly, I can't find any reason why a $100,000 price tagged for one bitcoin is impossible also when you  consider the halving factor and what it has done to the price of bitcoin in the past then the possiblity of bitcoin reaching such price as $100000 is more possible but I think it'll take more than one block halving from the current price of bitcoin for it to achieve $100,000. Price range of $30,000-50,000 is very possible but $100,000 in a year or two, not so much.
7157  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What can we buy with one BTC? And is buying something with BTC worth it? on: May 21, 2019, 06:59:48 AM
My portfolio are divided into two category, I hold some  decent amount of bitoin i have decided not to utilize in a very long period of time, those bitcoin are considered as my investment bags and I also have some decent amount of bitcoin I used for trading and buying of things I need like for my monthly data subscription i use bitcoin as a payment option and for some online shopping (e.g current phone I'm using was bought with bitcoin) although bitcoin when compared to cash isn't used for much transaction but there's a satisfactory feeling i get from using bitcoin as a payment option instead of cash and I get unconsciously drawn to service providers that accepts bitcoin in my geographical location although this isn't legal yet.
7158  Other / Meta / Re: Give good posters amnesty on: May 20, 2019, 10:30:59 PM
If only you had a little idea that the forum doesn't see itself as a business platform.but a forum to learn, interact and discuss issues relating to bitcoin (cryptocurrency in general) then you would had understand the forum doesn't care if doing the right thing by banning users for plagiarism will interrupt what ever the defaulters were doing on the forum in regards to their businesses.

We have cases were merit sources, DT members etc have been banned. you operating a business through the forums doesn't make you Immune to the punishment regular members get when they break forum rules.
7159  Other / Meta / Re: Improving the current ban situation on: May 20, 2019, 10:15:54 PM
What I don't understand is why we suggest time of commiting plagiarism as an excuse. I totally understand the reason behind pardoning those that have been productive to the forum over the years but we shouldn't used date of commiting this crime as a reason to pardon them, all in the name of they were newbie then. Don't forget the newbies we're banning today for plagiarism are also newbies now.

Since we're discussing alternative to the current punishment I second this
(or deranking to Newbie) would be even better so that they would have to earn their way back.
this will reduce the rate of creation of alts by banned members
7160  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Airdrops on: May 20, 2019, 09:08:24 PM
When participating in ERC20 related airdrop it's best advisable to use wallet address you have control over your private key which in most cases myetherwallet is the best choice since it's easily accessible but since you use trust wallet you have to follow their instructions, if they have specific address for receiving Tokens which aren't ETH that's ERC-20 token then use the appropriate address. Some service providers try to separate receiving ETH and ERC20 tokens since not all ERC20 token have default settings on their platform

Although you shouldn't waste your time on airdrop, gone are the days you can get some decent amount of cash out of airdrops especially ERC20 related ones. Now it's just leaving off past glory.
