ed the press conference press and it was very epic, finally McGregor really good rival

So weird everytime I talk to a specific chick the next day I see or hear a referance to something we just talked about.

Case in point we discussed Cauliflower ears yesterday.

God this thread gets weird when the price is flat.  I almost unblocked gembitz for luls...  Not that bad yet.  If its 6XXX in February maybe.

Hah, I just ublocked someone, first time in months. I don't think it will last. Smiley

Fucker needs to be sued by the creditors for using their assets to attack their assets worth when they requested their assets back and not worthless fiat which they never wanted as proof that they used worthless fiat to procure their stolen assets. Smiley

Guys, I made the coolest purchase for BTC. I bought a dog.Today I took it from the nursery. This Siberian Husky and her 1.5 months

Totally worth it!

I think if he originally had $8k, his profit would be 2k
But if he had only $6k, his profit would be 1k

True, If he only had 6k then he could not have made the second purchase.

Since it says he made both purchases he must have had at least 7k to start.

He could lend this money
So he gained 1k from the 1st deal
Then took -1k when he lent
And then again +1k

You suck! I'm not thinking about this one anymore! Tongue

Wait, maybe his grandma lent him another 1K?
Shit I lied! Cheesy

1 small pump of XRP and all the enthousiast where there HAHA

I’ve got a load of XRP left at Bittrex, not overly concerned about it but be great if they went to say $100 each one day Grin

It's always best to be first when dumping shitcoins.

Magic 8 ball says: "Concentrate and ask again".

In all due seriousness, I really don't have a good read on this yet. I've not even finished my analysis as to which way I would like to see it go.

As for my initial preferences:

My first read is that I'd like to see it tend toward no block size cap (and therefore have max block size be an emergent property of the system, a la BU). I also think I like the idea of re-enabling opcodes that were in the initial release - at least as compared to enabling a new opcode. I don't see the need for CTOR either.

All the above would put me in the SV camp, rather than the ABC camp. Or perhaps BU (hash power vote on each feature), or C0bra (no changes). But as I said, more analysis is required.

I also hold out some hope for a kumbaya moment. However, cross-camp relations don't seem to be getting any better with time.

Given that Bitmain has a split commitment to BCH and BTC, I was fairly comfortable in the hashpower battle going forward with nChain/Ayre/&co. However, with Bitmain finally successful (from all reports) with a 7nm chip, this no longer seems a safe assumption.

I guess I'll need to finish my analysis, pick a side, and get involved with the internal advocacy...

Not sure about bitmain specifically but 7nm yields are shit across the industry, so don't expect them getting any massive returns on that front. Of course they are creating simple logic with minuscule footprint so the yields may be higher than industry average, It would be interesting to find out.

After all, one of the narratives is that BCH is not supposed to be used for a store of value;

Whose narrative is that? I don't recall that position ever being advocated by anyone of note.

Ability to be used as a medium of exchange (MoE) certainly does not preclude ability to be used as a store of value (SoV). Indeed, there is significant evidence that MoE is necessary for any commodity to become a SoV. And a reasonable theory that any commodity that loses its MoE will therefore lose its ability to be a SoV. Which bodes poorly for BTC, unless the LN grows quickly by several orders of magnitude.

I don't know shit about BCH but it is a simple inheritance thing isn't it? Bitcoins original vision was not to be a store of value but a currency. BCH shills have been screaming since day one they will stick to that vision. So yeah there is that. don't get yourself caught in any circular logic trap here.

2k

Added: +2k in fiat but in BTC you would be -1k because if you had held your would BTC would be worth +3k from initial purchase. Cheesy

So the answer is... -1K in fiat terms relative. Oww my Brain hurts.

I think if he originally had $8k, his profit would be 2k

True, If he only had 6k then he could not have made the second purchase.

Or does it say you brought 1$ BTC @    etc.

$6k in seashells. Tongue

this 1 $BTC is misleading.

(1/6000*7000)+(1/8000*9000) = $2.29166666667

You will have to explain this to the rest of the class.

It doesn't matter if $BTC is a typo, he means 1 BTC, or he means 1 BCASH, or 1 ASS.... he:

1- Buy 1 of whatever for $6000, and afterwards sells it for $7000. Profit = $1000
2- Buy 1 of whatever for $8000, and afterwards sells it for $9000. Profit = $1000

Total money made: $2K.... Or, just in case the "," is eur notation: $2,000

Oh, fuck, I said I gave up, I can't even stand by my word now Sad

LOL

this 1 $BTC is misleading.

Correct. There is no such thing as "1 $BTC", so the question is ambiguous and there is no "right" answer.

You can substitute $BTC for A and solve for A.

I prefer to solve for seashells. Tongue

Still, this rally isn’t broken yet.

The failure to break past $6610 on that break downwards indicates to me that the bulls are in control.

I am changing my position and flipping to short term bullish.

I got stopped out about 3 minutes after posting this.  Bitcoin is one hell of a ride !

W00ps LOL ...

I think the key word is money. Do you consider bitcoin is money or usd as money? If you consider that money is us$ fiat  (rather than just currency) its quite simple you made 2k dollars for no change in your bitcoin wealth.

https://www.quora.com/What-is-the-difference-between-currency-and-money-1

But perhaps bitcoin is a better form of money? In which case you didn't increase your bitcoin wealth at all but did get 2k dollars of dry powder to buy on the next dip.

The answer is you made less money than if you hodl'd

I agree, so solve for both. Smiley

$2000 + 0.00 bitcoin = NO "REAL" MONEY

Lol, yup I think that was his point. But from that point of view you would have lost -1k by not holding at 6k. You missed the 1k at 7-8k Tongue

This shit just cracked me up, too bad I'm outta merits.

Apparently, according to Luke-jr who's subscribed, Bitcoin Core still hasn't even bothered to use their announcement mailing list (specifically set up for security issues and new releases) to warn about CVE-2018-17144 yet (a security issue fixed in a new release no less!). That's pretty incompetent if you ask me.
The announcement of the new release and fix was sent to it.  You mean the guy who controls bitcoin.org isn't subscribed to it? That' s pretty ... suboptimal, if you ask me. Smiley

It's easy to point fingers and assert that the world would be better if other people acted according to your will instead of their own free will,  harder to look at your own actions and contemplate what you could to to improve things.  To risk making the same mistake myself: Instead of calling people who owe you nothing incompetent, you could offer to help...  Just a thought.  It's the advice that I've tried to follow myself, and I think it's helped improve the world a lot more than insults ever would.
7148  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: The duplicate input vulnerability shouldn't be forgotten on: September 24, 2018, 04:03:48 AM
...I am one of the only project contributors who actually takes the time to even try to communicate with people who seem to be significantly confused. 99.9% of the time other people will just ignore them completely. I don't think it helps improve the level of discourse if everyone puts themselves in a high castle and doesn't even hear out their opposition or respect them enough to even argue the case.  But at least when I'm critical of your actions I'm willing to be precise enough that you can defend or contextualize them... or even admit a mistake.  I've certainly made mistakes, but at least I've tried to do something good. I fee like your comments here-- with name calling like "incompetent"-- are saying that you'd prefer a world where no one does anything (except maybe insult and conspiracy theorize about others), because if the they do enough good things you'll ignore all that and attack them for the few things that could be improved.  If that isn't what you're going for, I'd really like you to help me understand where you're coming from....

OT:
I would just like to point out that I, and I'm sure there are many others, appreciate the effort you put into responding even though we do not insert ourselfs into the conversation because we know that we are not well enough versed in the code and/or game theory. For everyone in the conversation there are thousands that did not ask the same question no matter what it was. So I'm just posting that it is appreciated that you spend the time to do so. I also appreciate the fact that when I go back and research something I usually find a post from you and that is a post that I can take to the bank. Ok, enough brown nosing, keep up the good work. No I swear, he's not on my lineup, both app and web says I played Rodgers, hmm

Well, He's definitely in your lineup according to my yahoo connection. So I would take some screenshots if I were you just in case it matters. But I don't think it is going to matter looking at your current matchup. I think even with Rogers in your pretty much done this week.

Right now it looks like there will be no undefeated teams after this week, that would be great.
I don't think I've ever been in a league that didn't have an undefeated team by week 3.

I really should have played my bench this week. Cheesy W00ps
It's gonna cost me...

Hey Phishead, We should change the poll every week for everyone to vote on who they think will make the most points that week.
7151  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Monero Fantasy Football League 2018 on: September 23, 2018, 09:59:53 PM
Hmm, I didn't play Wentz Shocked

Ohh shit! I noticed he moved into your lineup when we were talking trade so you must have mis-clicked somewhere there!

Well luckily it's only 7.7 points so hopefully that will not have changed your week.

It's super important to re-check your lineup every week before the games start.
Thats why I try to post a reminder every week.

Looks like floam is gonna get off the schnide, unless bears rb goes crazy here.

I just meant capitulate on the poll. Or are you saying that hodlers don't even do that? If so than I guess I'm not part of the hodlgang any more Cry

Oh, sorry. I think it's acceptable for hodlers to capitulate on the poll.

I think he's referring to the inevitability of the price going up when I sell and crashing right after I buy. Cheesy

@Anon136, I don't think that works with the poll, I have to actually put my money on the line for that triggered event. Tongue

Here is an excerpt from a recent post by Greg Maxwell. It appears that this is indeed true.

..snip
Through all the history of Bitcoin, altcoin forks copying the code, other reimplementations and many other consensus bugs, some serious and some largely benign,  this is the first time someone working on another serious implementation that someone actually uses has actually found one.  I might be forgetting something, but I'm certainly not forgetting many. Kudos to awemany. In all other cases they either had the same bugs without knowing it, or accidentally fixed it creating fork risk creating vulnerability without knowing it. It also isn't like there being multiple implementations is new-- for the purpose of this point every one of the 1001 altcoins created by copying the Bitcoin code count as a separate implementation too, or at least the ones which are actively maintained do.
..snip

Thats kinda cool to see actually. how much is a bug bounty worth these days?

Beauty!

10,000 LTC buy in Binance.  .

Just looked up some - as they would call it here - shitcoins and, remarkably, volume on quite a few of them is significantly increasing since mid August. Smart players loading up?

Thought it would get pulled but someone sold 2500 into it and it didn't budge.  Ok, real wall and someone wants 1/2 million dollars of LTC. Doh

Unless they sold to themselves and want you to think that before their P&D. Wink

These guys are in hot water come Oct. 1st, if you don't have your product or refund.

Possibly looking at bankruptcy.

Get your refund while you can! They are already switching to selling a new FPGA before the 1525 ships out. The 1525 was supposed to be shipped out last month. Wonder how long people will wait for ''batch 2'' on your pre-order money?

JW V/S Phishead is a great match right now!

Code:
            Phis - JW
Points      66.98 - 60.32
Orig Proj   103.35-117.65
Live Proj   121.74-113.38

Go Phis, take out that autodrafting undefeated JW! Tongue

SO gross! I should have played my bench! Cheesy

I might be willing to trade the best QB in the game for a good WR as I'm a bit light on that side.

Well I give you credit for your Ballsack! Playing Wentz over Rogers in his first week back!!!!!

I guess I finally capitulated. I selected 6500-7000 in the poll. I've always chosen bullish before this and been wrong so so so many times. Does that mean the price is finally going to rise?
If it makes you feel any better, I selected "$7,000-$7,500".

This has been an awful Bitcorn season.

I guess we are still waiting on you to capitulate then, it will rise only after the very last hold out falls.

Well, I do my figuring for taxes from month to month (some 'small' and I mean 'small' mining yet in the bsmt) ...so stalling till

Sept 1st (next months figuring) before I have to sell some altcoins for my fabulous (er boring) retirement lifestyle.

I wonder if not a lot of folk are just not waiting till this 'ugly' month of August 2018 is done and hoping like me for a pump

by Sept 1st to pay bills (it is a dumb theory but it is my theory so that is what I'm doing). I can start a 'new mess' of figures

for capital gains and the rest in September and leave August behind! So using September 1st as my arbitrary must sell

to pay bills date, regardless of price, thus can just blame the BTC fairies/fates for my glory or demise on that choice.

hey, it's an angle

I seriously had to check the calendar to see what month it is right now.

Perhaps it's because I'm on Thailand time which starts a bit sooner than most of the rest of the world but I am showing that September 1st has passed already.

Hah, just posted this!

End of September already.

7157  Economy / Speculation / Re: woah didn't even see Goldman Sachs news recently was wrong on: September 23, 2018, 01:55:53 AM
It doesn't matter if this is fake news or real news. Why do forum members care about Goldman Sachs?
Some naive people here still think that Goldman sachs is about to pump the bitcoin price(or any altcoin price).
This is totally wrong.GS is going to exploit the cryptomarkets, take the profits and participate in the future crypto destruction.  Angry

Well the general idea is that when big money wall street rolls into town Bitcoin will skyrocket. Goldman Sachs opening a trading desk is one of the first examples of wall street getting into the market. Sure Wall St entering crypto does nothing for cryptocurrency itself in terms of usage, but for investors which, lets face it, is the reason why Bitcoin is popular so far, Wall St big money coming in means we get rich. Sure they will exploit it to make money, but they have to buy in first. A trading desk means their clients get access to Bitcoin through a company they are familiar with. It simply just means new money will come into Bitcoin which obviously will have a positive effect on price.

the question is do you honestly think that the "big money wall street whatever..." is waiting for Goldman Sachs, SEC, etc to come in bitcoin and has not done it yet? I don't think so.
besides I do believe that this "big money" that you are talking about which would be belonging to wall street guys is only aiming for making profit and making profit does not require price rise. it can actually be a huge drop while they short bitcoin, use Futures, ... to make a lot more profit and do it in a safe way away from exchanges!
so I wouldn't be so happy about them entering the market if I were you

QFT.
