7141  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Money Is Literally Pouring Into Bitcoin on: May 24, 2017, 03:00:31 PM
I think its like the saying, any news is good publicity!

the recent ransomware virus reached all news bulletins and the great
thing was they were looking for  B I T C O I N  as payment, this brought
Bitcoin again into the public domain, Print, Radio, T.V and Online
and may not have been a bad thing at all!

there has also been a lot of positive news lately regarding Japan and Australia
this can also serve to attract new people into Bitcoin.
7142  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Criminality and Bitcoin on: May 24, 2017, 11:42:16 AM
Well this is nothing new as criminals will evolve together with the kind of tools that facilitates their behavior. Having said that this is not true that bitcoin increases the criminal activity in any given area. As they say cash is still the best way to launder money and to hide criminal activity. The media and Europol or every other police division will say only bad things about bitcoin, it is standard.

Yes I agree, as technology advances so do the criminals
they will utilise and exploit and technology. . . and crime fighting will also advance too!

I would have assumed given the nature of crypto currency
that if you are involved in crime you would not be restricted to
operating on a local level instead the world is your target.

Criminals operating at a level level would prefer cash I would have thought
7143  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Sia - Decentralized Storage on: May 24, 2017, 11:32:20 AM
Well while I prefer Sia over Maidsafe and Storj,
I didnt know that they needed centralisation
Can you elaborate on what you know?

As I probably mentioned above I like Sia's commitment
to offering a consistent storage solution with rewards and penalties.

In Storj, hosts receive payments manually from the developers. There is not an smart contract behind that guarantees the payment. If Storj devs disappear tomorrow, so will the who;e network. Sia is designed to be 100% decentralized: devs can vanish tomorrow and the network will keep working flawlessly forever. We can even kick them and fork the client, and they would not have any control over it. Also, as far as I know, not the whole code is open source in Storj.

I can't speak about Maidsafe as I don't know enough about the project to speak with certainty.

Ah right, yes that makes sense and obviously something for
consideration going forward for anyone making a comparision.
7144  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Criminality and Bitcoin on: May 24, 2017, 06:11:45 AM
Of course bitcoin and crypto currency has increased the amount
Of criminalitynin certain countries and areas.

Increase in criminality is because of a lot of factors like social issues
And the widening divide between the people who have money and
Those that dont. Employment in my opinion is slowly reducing and we are
on the first step in the ladder as regards artificial intelegence which
Will further reduce employment.

The internet alone and the darknet have also contributed to a rise in criminaliy
7145  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: SIAcoin what to think about this on: May 23, 2017, 09:02:54 PM
Sia will be King of datastorage on blockchain. Soon you will be surprised with huge mega partnerships and the marketcap will grow into the billions of dollars.
Invest and expect profits of 10x - 100x on longterm.

Hopefully they will develop on integration with Bitcoin and Ethereum networks.

isn't that spot already taken by burst? what sia have to offer over burst to be the king of data storage? burst is evne mined with storage sia is only gpu mined like many other coins, the recent price surge was only a pump and dump imho, the value is dumped as we speak

Hmm I havent heard of Burst and there is not much talk about it here?

With Sia you can get rewarded for providing storage space without having
to MINE coins. With Burst you actively have to mine to get rewarded,
Do I have that right?
7146  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Belacoin - Supercharging entrepreneurship with the power of the blockchain on: May 23, 2017, 08:42:38 PM
how do i download belacoin wallet on window 7...i tried it but its not going.thanks

Can you elaborate about what is happening?

did you go to the belacoin website and download from there > http://belacoin.org/#wallet

Here are the instructions again > http://belacoin.org/windowswalletsetup.pdf

It may be a requirement to have  64bit operating system, but I cannot confirm this.
7147  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Sia - Decentralized Storage on: May 23, 2017, 08:13:51 PM
What are SIA's strengths compared to the other decentralized storages that are available? This has caught my attention after being listed on Bittrex.

That is the main difference, I don't think there are any other decentralized cloud storage products available. Sia will be able to run on it's own, while Storj & Maidsafe require centralization. Since most folks value stability, privacy and security (not to mention low price of service), Sia is the clear winner hands down.

Well while I prefer Sia over Maidsafe and Storj,
I didnt know that they needed centralisation
Can you elaborate on what you know?

As I probably mentioned above I like Sia's commitment
to offering a consistent storage solution with rewards and penalties.

7149  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: In terms of acceptance of bitcoins... on: May 21, 2017, 06:31:45 PM
time wise its hard to figure out when Bitcoin will be widely accepted
although we heading in the right direction for sure with Japan and Australia
making positive moves to accept it as payment and easing taxation of it etc.

For widespread adoption I think a number of things has to happen and a lot
of the points have been mentioned above.

Retailers will have top start accepting it as payment along with the public willing
to use it and this is a kind of "chicken and egg" scenario.

It will have to be as easy to use as it will be to use FIAT

If and when FIAT no longer becomes viable, Bitcoin etc. will have to be ready to take its place.
7150  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Sia - Decentralized Storage on: May 21, 2017, 01:27:57 PM
SIA should collaborate with AWS, Google Drive or Dropbox , this will make SIA a very good project.

As far as I'm aware, thats what they want to target rather than single one off users
they will be targeting "wholesalers" and offering them storage options.

"Breaking into this market is a multi-billion dollar endeavor. The long term goal of Sia
is to be the backbone storage layer of the Internet. "

7151  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [Survey] What would it take for you to quit ? on: May 21, 2017, 12:50:59 PM
Im not going to quit for the next 10 years anyway here's why, no-one can predict the future.

Here are a few of my examples to the questions asked above.

Would you quit the Altcoins thing if ?

- Your favorite coin was never mass adopted. - Litecoin lay virtually dormant for years, now showing strong activity.

- You lost a lot of money trading. - Dash in the space of a month March it rose from 0.031BTC to 0.117BTC and back to 0.071BTC
but has still not fallen back to 0.031BTC still room for some rises.

- Tough laws were passed making all this far harder to do. - If laws were passed to monitor who is buying in and cashing out
its still blockchain which is hard/difficult to track who is doing what. Buying in and cashing out im sure can be masked

- Bitcointalk shut down. - Virtually impossible to shut down
7152  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: We're in a bubble on: May 21, 2017, 12:34:24 PM
Dollface is right. This is a bubble. But it's not necessarely the bad kind of bubble that 100% implodes. Fresh money getting poured into cryptocurrencies.

I agree, the bubble might pop or it might morph into a smaller bubble!

Its hard to figure what is driving the rises but in my opinion there are justified
and unjustified rises. Unjustified like Dogecoin and Ripple, Justified like possibly
Litecoin, Bitcoin, Belacoin, Siacoin, Ethereum and Dash. These are just the ones that
I know of that actually offer something and that people will or are actually going to
use rather than just trading only.

7153  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Sia - Decentralized Storage on: May 21, 2017, 09:07:40 AM
I sold a bit but bought them back within 24 hours
after I realised the direction they were taking!!

I asking me the same, unfortunately i sold already a lot, impressive.

Give SIA time and you'll be rewarded. Personally, it is my favourite project.

Yes I also like the project and the potential the blockchain file storage the technology has,
but I'm asking myself what is driving the price up by almost 64% [on poloniex] at the moment?

The dollar value on coinmarketcap now is $0.011143,
and in my opinion there is plenty of room for growth

7154  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Monitoring WannaCry hackers' bitcoin addresses in real time on: May 21, 2017, 08:55:18 AM
Yea i'm sure enough that if they can create and plant the virus
they sure as hell know how to liquidate the rewards into fiat
if they wanted, im sure they have a gameplan and its running
smoothly  Wink

7156  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Astonished by how altcoin scene has changed in last 2 years! on: May 21, 2017, 07:45:49 AM
When the moon is in the Seventh House
And Jupiter aligns with Mars
Then peace will guide the planets
And love will steer the stars
This is the dawning of the age of Aquarius Altcoins.

I really think that we are coming out of the dark and
That alternative crypto currency has a very bright future.
The technologies based on the blockchain are very innovative
And we are steering away from the simple 'coin' feature
7157  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Monitoring WannaCry hackers' bitcoin addresses in real time on: May 20, 2017, 07:03:35 PM
Is there a blockchain based file backup solution?

That is a very good question.

Im sure the likes of SIA, MAIDSAFE and STORJ
Would have that covered as the are file storage
Blockchain technologies.
7158  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: SIAcoin what to think about this on: May 20, 2017, 05:47:28 PM
I have been following Siacoin (SIA) for the last two weeks and it went up very fast, I read there webpage http://sia.tech/ I understood Sia will provide in data storage and in the future webhosting on the blockchain. So far they are still developing and they are checking software in ervery two days. But why are they so much up, I can't find that, there are like 26.000.000.000 coins already how can a project with that amount of coins be worth one dollar a coin for example, can someone explain that to me please.

I think LBRY is simulair to SIA or is that totally different? It would be great if an expert can tell me about these differences and give a forecast about the projects. Have a nice weekend everyone.
It could be affected by the ransomware virus, so for distributed cloud storage it's very good and the price goes up.I don't know about LBRY.

Thats a very good point actually !

Have you checked in with the announcement thread all 236 pages to read through?
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1060294.0;topicseen

Here is their roadmap > http://sia.tech/about/milestones/

There are a few others like MaidSafe and Storj  but for me SIA trumps them.

Sia offers a  reward for providing storage space and a penalty if you decide
to jump ship, delete other peoples information which is held on you hard-drive
and offer the same space to a competitor, this insures continuity of data storage!

I dont think Maid offers this, and to some extent Storj do, not sure about LBRY though.
7159  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: How do I change my altcoins for BTC? on: May 20, 2017, 05:33:10 PM
Where is your account balance?

assuming you have them on an online exchange
you can just exchange them into bitcoin there....
7160  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Google participating in ethereum ICOs ? on: May 20, 2017, 05:24:36 PM
Hmm thats interesting, Does that mean they put $8.6million into it?

I wonder why the likes of Google, Facebook, Instagram etc. dont
create their own blockchain.

It is positive for sure that these GIANTS are throwing their funds
around and getting into the technology, I wonder how many more
are IN that we dont know about?
