721  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTB] PSU Crashed! Need newegg giftcard or NEW PSU. on: September 01, 2011, 01:11:53 PM
Please, PLEASE choose a different power supply. That thing is a TERRIBLE power supply. Your rig will fail again.

Go with the corsair builder series at the very least, or heck, I bet Rosewill would be better than that apevia. Preferably, you'd go with Seasonic X, but that's prob overkill.
722  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTS] HIS 5870 [240$ NEW] on: September 01, 2011, 01:10:05 PM
Would you take $200? To save you money on shipping, you can ship it to a commercial address (my work), as that's a cheaper way to ship.

This thread is now being reviewed. We are currently attempting to contact the accused for their side of the story.

As a reminder, we can only react to scammers, not prevent them. Additionally, we are not mediators. We only release information if we are absolutely 100% sure that someone is a scammer.

^^ This.
Please do release the IP once the investigation prooves that the topic starter has scammed
The investigation proved that there was no evidence that he was a scammer.

So...... apparently he's not a scammer, but he just ran off with my bitcoins without sending me anything? Awesome. -_-

Yeah, I'm intruiged as to how this could not be construed as scamming. Seems pretty cut and dry.

Well F. Didn't see this thread until today. By the time I get home, I probably won't be able to submit 1k shares. Oh well.
725  Economy / Goods / Re: Selling GPUs 5970/5870s on: August 31, 2011, 03:38:11 PM
Ok, my bids for some 5870's fell through on ebay. I'm currently in the venture of upgrading my media center + making it a possible miner.

I'm interested in 1 5870 for the time being and willing to buy asap, since someone can vouch for your legitimacy. I have the funds on me one way or another, but obtaining the bitcoins for payment may take some time (transfer from bank to dwolla, dwolla to mtgox, and mtgox to my wallet), so if time is not a problem for you, I can get that going. As said before though, I can also send payments via paypal, amazon payments, moneybookers, and dwolla as well.

Lastly, it's $200/each shipped? Or $200 + shipping? If + shipping, can I get a quote to zip code 54501?

$200 + shipping and shipping should be $15.

If I bought two, would you be willing to do both for $400, including shipping?

Where would I be shipping to?

Texas, 77042 to a commercial address (I think that UPS and FedEx charge less for shipping to commercial addresses?)

Are you leaving mining altogether? I thought you were selling your 6970s to use these instead?
728  Economy / Goods / Re: WTS: 5870, 5830, 5970, PSU, and Mobo Systems on: August 30, 2011, 08:49:08 PM
I'm pretty interested in them. Would you take $125?

How are you using the 5870s if their fans are dead? Or have you stopped using them?

The dead fan cards I will sell for $175.  They work great and are overclockable to 975 core.

-EP

Would you be willing to do $150? I'd be willing to buy two of them if so if you're up for volume discounts.

Did I miss something?

Uh...yeah. This...

Wtf is going on?

731  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: 4 x 6870's Which Psu? on: August 29, 2011, 04:36:36 PM
I have a 5850 and a 5870 on a 1250W PSU  Shocked

Talk about MASSIVE overkill. You could stick another 5850 and another 5870 without problems.

hope you used a credit card that extends the warranty more then 30 days...
the 5970 has the highest failure rate of all radeon cards pretty much.
i just cannot justify the purchase myself.

Yeah, I almost snap bought it myself, before I did the math and realized that even with $0 electricity costs and a stagnant difficulty level, it would take me 5 months to break even at the current $8 price.

And that's before you factor in the possibility of it breaking. ><
734  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: HD5970 new in stock newegg 499$ ! on: August 25, 2011, 06:38:07 PM
OOS Sad

Thank goodness. It was seriously taxing resisting the purchase of these.

Was thinking of swapping out the 6970s that I *just* got for these (my PSU and rest of the system could have handled it). But it was hard to justify $500/card (in essence $250/5870) when I could get 5870s for $200 and the 6970s I had just bought for $225 apiece.
735  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTS] Radeon HD 6970 (SOLD!) on: August 25, 2011, 05:26:37 PM
Bought at $225 apiece. Shipped and delivered with good communication.

Now, just gotta get home to test that they work... Cheesy

So far it looks good though. Trustworthy seller.

Nice! Thanks for the post. Donation is coming your way. Just picked up 8 of these bad boys!
Thats a big investment for no warranty 0.o I hope they all work well and don't die on you shortly after the 30 days.

Me thinks he exaggerates a bit.

"In stock. Limit 2 per customer."

Do you have a pic from the side? I want to see if this card would work well with my tool-less design in my case, so that I don't have to go and find more screws to properly screw in the card.
738  Economy / Services / Looking for a programmer - skilled in php, MySQL, javascript (jQuery, ajax) on: August 19, 2011, 10:00:32 PM
Hey all,

Looking for someone to do some freelance programming work on my site that is based in php, uses MySQL as the database backend, and uses javascript as well. Experience with linux is a plus. Site is: http://www.sharpbettracker.com/

Will pay in btc or USD depending on preference. We can decide on an hourly rate or a rate per task completed, depending on your preference as well.

It will mostly consist of smaller standalone tasks, like enhancements that users request rather than large overarching site changes. Examples include:
1) Adding new bet types ex: Team Totals, 1st 5 inning MLB bets
2) Formatting the way the data is presented ex: showing data as W-L-T % as well as $ won/lost

If interested, please post in this thread or PM me with your previous portfolio of work and background (any sites you've created in the past or what you're proficient in), and what method of payment you'd prefer if you took the jobs (paid hourly vs paid per task / btc vs USD / and how much $ you'd charge).

I'm looking to spend several thousand dollars in upgrading the site, so hopefully that shows anybody interested how serious I am. You won't be wasting your time hoping to chase a few hundred dollars. I know quality programming skills cost $$$  Smiley

P.S. If you're wondering why I posted this here, I figure anyone who's interested in bitcoin is probably pretty tech savvy, so posting this here is a good way to weed out lesser programmers who make crappy code. Cheesy I look forward to seeing your submissions gentlemen.

Plus, it in essence "locks in" a price for the person selling the Mhash/sec. Think of it as a proxy for selling bitcoin futures.

If the price of btc falls, then the seller of the mHash/sec benefits.

Really stupid comparison between a 6990 and an Intel atom processor. wtf?

But yeah...this could be quite the bad kick for bitcoin in terms of publicity. Sad
