727  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: #WARNING!!! Beware of this activities on Instagram. Don't fall victim. on: September 10, 2020, 12:51:48 PM
I dont think there are still people who believes in this scams.  People are now educated, they wont fall on that simpliest form of scamming.
Don't generalize by speaking for everyone. Bitcoin scam comes in different form which educated person can fall into. Tempted to high rate of investment easily makes many loose their education.
Scammers are smart people and it's obvious they still have victims who fall for tricks that's why they keep posting these flashy cars, money, etc. Othererwise, they would have stop. Any form of investment with too good ROI is a no for me.
728  Other / Beginners & Help / #WARNING!!! Beware of this activities on Instagram. Don't fall victim. on: September 10, 2020, 07:13:50 AM
These are cheap scam to spot at the same time easy to fall as a victim. Some of this scam page have been in existence since the days of ICO maniac where worthless Projects were easily pump.
That was when the word LAMBO was trending as you easily make quick profit.
Often time with out number, you will come across this handles, page and hash tags on Instagram displaying stack of cash, Rolex, Lamborghini and how they have been benefiting from holding bitcoin and trading as well.
Those days are gone, bitcoin is not a quick rich scheme. Utilise your time, seek for more knowledge and enjoy the trend.

Be vigilant, dont fall for this bitcoin scavengers.

Just like ICO, proof of stake, masternode, IEO and DEFi. The trend will come and go but few survive the jungle. The recent spike in price and are all sold off with - 50% and still counting as bitcoin plunge continues.
Sushi developer left the project but I was surprised how the price bounce back when FTX founder renowned his self to continue the project. Invest wisely, most of this project will cost you nothing but loss.
730  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Beware Defi airdrop message shared on telegram on: September 08, 2020, 12:24:16 PM
It is better to avoid Telegram channels related to cryptocurrency.

Telegram is one of the best place to be to get update about cryptocurrency movement and trends. Channels like cointelegraph, coin desk channel, other new and old project.

If you are in one of them then there is a high chance your ID automatically getting addded to span channels related to airdrop or signals.

You can disable that for you telegram account if that fear you much. Go to settings ==> privacy and security ==> groups. ==> select my contact.
With this, no one can add you to telegram except for your contact friends. You can also check my thread for latest for common Telegram scam till date

I think the $50k value is very practical considering where we are now from where we were before. Right now bears are trying hard but bulls are stronger. $BTC has a huge resistance from $12,500 to $13,800. Once the market will settle above that range then we will see a new ATH in no time.

Sometimes, I feel this resistance thing is out of line if there is huge demand. I believe you saw how yearn finance broke $30k because of demand and supply.
While everyone has been clamoring and predicting new all time high for btc, it still baffled me when everyone sell of their btc that was supposed to be hedge/stand against inflation. Btc will attain ATH when this we put a stop to this bruhaha.

Anyway, this moment is not similar to 2017 IMO since the momentum is bad to pump things (pandemic, recession), and new users aren't here yet.
Have you check bubbles chart?
Many alts surge with %700 %500 with defi hype and you said the momentum wasn't there, i disagree.
I opened this thread 2 days 6and and warned about the greed with overbought market, just yesterday Bithumb Korea exchange was raid and every where plunge. I was going through some group chat, many were regretting their actions for not taking profits.

Having a high Bitcointalk rank is I think overly fantasized. Though I'm personally proud of having a high rank, there really isn't that much up here, really. It really just mostly matters if you're here for campaigns and selling services and such, which I guess are the reasons why most people are here for. 🤷‍♂️
I think the having a high rank here is just like obtaining a gold medal. If we are to check by statistics and estimation, the number of members in this forum that are here for campaigns os very large compare to others that are here for just learning and helping others.
735  Other / Beginners & Help / Invest with due diligence and proceed with caution on: September 01, 2020, 05:00:16 PM
Invest with due diligence and proceed with caution.
This topic is mostly discussed on Alternative discussion section but I think newbies and noobs need this as well.

Invest in what you can afford to lose they say, but the real question is, are you willing to let go of that money?

All channels and Crypto media attention has been drawn to Decentralised Finance and many alts are performing extremely good. While this cause for celebration of bull run and new price discoveries, one should be careful, when BTCitcoin makes massive correction without warning, most of this alts will make you regret investing in the cryptocurrency industry. I can still recall the huge market sell-off that happened during the early days covid19 Pandemic.

There is immense profit in this industry but it's not as easy as you think if you are absolutely new, this run is similar to 2017 bull run. Your loss is another investor profit, do a proper research and invest with caution. Sell while you can and move on, greed isn't good for your portfolio.
As you can see below, the greed is increasing day by day which means market and equity are overbought as people are willing to pay more just to get into the system and make some profit.

SOURCE: Fear and Greed Index

Some of the reasons why I think this is similar to 2017 bull run are:
  • New projects are all focused on Defi, same garbage as nothing new from the new trend of rebating and lending.
  • Token sales are mostly sold out in hours, everyone wants a quick profit which is scary.
  • Old projects Road map are now focus on Decentralized Finance.
  • New projects with new social handles that are likely to be scammers.
  • Some dead failed ICO projects are rebranding to Defi.

New and recent projects that are coming to coin market cap are all focus on Finance ever since yearn finance attained a new all-time high of $30k, other projects have been popping out with finance on market cap. I listed some of the coins. These are the images I screenshot of the projects that are focused on Defi, this is not a cause for FUD but most of this project will not last with their fundamentals.

Any project that has suffix as FINANCE are easily pump, the hype about Defi is real. No one will spoon feed you, they can only guide you but experience the best teacher, don't let yours end in regret.

But I still wonder, how can someone use someone he do not know for escrow service? This is also a bit of foolishness. Aside bitcoin reputed members, and people you know and trust, there is not proper escrow service imo.

I once saw a thread on this forum where a newbie user conducted transaction without an escrow with a newbie account on telegram, perhaps he wasn't informed.

In addtion are Airdrop scams
There are some telegram bots that provide latest airdrops offers, some of the airdrops can be legit, but some can contain malware if you visit the airdrop official site. I have experienced one before, that I should pay vip fee, I did not because it is better not to gain anything than to lose my bitcoin or ether.
This excape my mind, thanks for your contribution.

INTRODUCTION

Global adoption, recognition and acceptance of cryptocurrency will be the best thing investors, traders and bounty hunters in crypto community will be happy about. However, the linear relationship between cryptocurrency trend and scam strategies can not be separated. This activities are widely carried out on social platforms and most commonly one is Telegram.
Telegram is an open source message app where projects raised community members for easy interaction and update everyone, these range from normal projects of many coin on markets cap and crypto exchanges.
With this App, You can interact and send message to a non contact member that's why it's easier for scammers to penetrate and prey on some innocent and naive members.

Common Telegram scam
After many encounter and research, I have come to realize that as crypto trends changes, so as scammers changes their tactics on how to hunt your money  and coin. The commonly ones are:

  • Telegram exchange support
  • Daily Investors and advisers
  • Telegram Bot
  • Trading Signals
  • Escrow scam
  • Api scam

Telegram exchange support: You will always come across this set of people in every telegram exchange group, they are always impersonating the admin.
They often used the same name as the admins of the group by changing their names and similar usernames.
Be careful, there is no any exchange support on telegram, admins can only help by forwarding your ticket only which you must have created on the exchange. Don't give out your login details such as emails, username and password outside the exchange, they will rip you off, of your hard earned fund.No admin will ever pm you on telegram, block them instantly the moment anyone come to your pm.

Daily Investors and company advisers: you will always find these annoying set of scammers in every telegram groups, they will come to your pm, telling you to invest in some shady business, there isn't nothing like easy business or profits. This is where you find cloud mining scammers, dont fall for this cheap scam as most cloud mining always results to exit scam. You can do more research on how innocent investors ended up with loss on cloud mining.

Telegram bot: This is another form of telegram scam that has been going for years, it's always a waste of energy referring your friends and foe to a bot that promise to pay you Ether and Btc. When you finally reach the point for withdrawal, they will request you to make deposit small amount of Ether or Satoshi before you can make complete withdrawal of your referral. Don't fall for this, I know it's a small Satoshi but imagine thousands of people fall for this, that's cool money for one cone head bastard scammer. There isn't free money even in free town.

Trading Signals Group: This one is general, you will come across them on bitcointalk, how they offer free signals, when to buy and sell and also provide some premium service for VIP members. They often show off their profits and PNL and how easy it's for them to make fortune on trading. Avoid them as plague, no trader is 100% accurate, you can learn some trading skills on YouTube for free and Udemy for just a token and help yourself on trading.

Escrow groups: we sometimes found our self with some coins and tokens that require KYC on some exchanges before one can trade them, while identity verification is very tough on some exchanges, this coin can be sold to anyone but you must avoid some third party groups.
Check service and lending board, you can easily locate good and reputable escrow on bitcointalk, their Trust and merit speaks for them.

Api scam: Avoid unrecognized Api services that aren't recommended by your exchange, if you must use Api on third party App, contact your exchange support if their services are legit and secure.

738  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Good sections for newbie? on: August 26, 2020, 05:44:48 PM
Here: Beginners & Help.

Fortunately if newbies know what they find for at beginnings and Newbies are free to choose the journey they will go they can choose boards that they like the most.

Bitcoin Technical Support is a good one to get supports from Bitcoin community.

I would warn them to keep distance from Bounties that can harm their discoveries on the forum.
The rate at which high rank member discouraged low rank members from bounty is good for newbie, you are forced to write good line comments response which may be cumbersome. Making 15 post a week isn't easy task.
739  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: (NEED HELP ASAP) Bitcoin wallet problems on: August 26, 2020, 05:26:54 PM
I did send ticket that I posed at monday night and still no repose, does that mean they should eventualy respond to me? Thanks a lot man, and also do you recommend any other online bitcoin provider, and what do you say about paxful?
It's worrying especially when you don't expect such but I suggest you write another ticket. If you know their support email, you can reach out to them through that as well.
About wallet, I used Trust wallet and if your country supports Luno Local exchange, you can use that, very basic, easy and effective for newbie.
740  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading Practices and habit on: August 26, 2020, 03:05:49 PM
What are the trading practices that you have built over the countless trades you have?
This isn't a habit to me, it's just what you are used to and nothing else.
Just like me, if I open I long/short a position before going to bed, the first thing I do in the morning is to check my phone if my predictions were right or right -loss was hit. It get to time that I dreamed about trading in my sleep, that's your life and its already part of it.
Remember our brain reflects what we do in day when sleeping.
