721  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ★[ANN] [NAV] Navajo Coin - ●NEW BETA CLIENT●CHAT FEATURE●Projects in Development on: November 16, 2014, 02:16:12 AM
Hi everyone, thanks for bringing this to our attention. We are now in the process of investigating the issue and resolving it.

Once we have identified the issue and solved the cause, we will release a patch to prevent it from occurring again in the future. We aim to get this done as soon as humanly possible.

We do apologise for any staking that people may have missed out on. Be assured that this will have been a reasonably small amount of coins and the problem will be fixed very shortly.

Myself and Soopy are on the case.

All the best,
Pakage.

@hashforce382: I need a whitepaper, gib whitepaper! XD

can someone explain this to me

Hi Hashforce,

"gib" is the german imperativ from "geben" / give. In englisch it is like he asks you do give him the whitepaper... send him the Link Smiley
Haha, didn't know it was german, it's often used in polandball comics and it sounds funny in an english phrase.

Anyway I'm keeping a list of all anonymization techniques (here, if you're curious) I'll definitely add navajo (for the time being I added it to my portfolio Cheesy).

Could you confirm/deny a few points? (stuff I didn't understand from the whitepaper):
1) the navajo anonymization uses no masternode-like feature, NMG and CSG are actually just run by regular nodes
2) the transaction follows some sort of onion routing so no node beside the sender could possibly link transaction to sender ip unless they work in tandem with other malicious nodes nor run some sort of network analysis.
3)I'm assuming transactions are more or less the same size so it's not possible to distinguish transactions happening at the same time, but there are no artificial delays/salting/padding used specifically to avoid linking network activity to transfers
4) the address of the sender does not appear in the blockchain and it disappear from the network (subchains included) once the transaction is completed but what happens if the NMG or CSG or any other node involved tries to keep knowledge of the transaction or the issuer? And what happens if a malicious NMG CSG pair tries to make coins appear?
5) well this is gossip, but, did you contact the Navajos in the end? Cheesy

Personally I see navajo sending  technique to be as interesting as bitcoindark teleport, where teleport can evade any network/activity analysis and navajo makes blockchain analysis pointless. I suppose teleport protocol could be built on top of navajo for paranoia level security, that's be interesting to see Cheesy.
BTW, is there any plan to join supernet, blocknet or the likes?

Great questions. Soopy is the best person to answer these, so we'll catch him next time he's online to address these finer points.

Great work Shahim! Another feather in the hat for us all.

Week in, week out, we are releasing new features. Keep this thread in your bookmarks, we are on the move!

I use bitstamp for deposits but OKCoin CNY for trading BTC (and Bittrex for other coins).

OKCoin is the safest and best for trading. Their CNY platform has 0% transaction fee's so the trading prices follow much more sane patterns. Bitstamp on the other hand fluctuates wildly outside of expected channels. You can of course use this to your advantage if you know what you're doing, however their trading fee is quite high (0.5%).

OKCoin, as well as having 0 fees, they are fully audited, meaning that they have proven to hold all the bitcoin / fiat which they currently have on their books. So its relatively safe that Mt. Gox will not happen to them.

https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/okcoin-passes-bitcoin-proof-of-reserves-audit/

That said, I've never tried to deposit fiat into OKCoin, I bought on Bitstamp with USD and sent Bitcoins to OKCoin for trading.

Signing up for an exchange is a pain in the ass though, it takes days to verify the account and also days for deposits to appear. However, without it, they will be more vulnerable to scams.

Localbitcoins is supposed to be pretty good and really fast, but you will end up paying a bit more than on the exchange: https://localbitcoins.com

I also bought a lot of coins above 1k, so believe me when I say I am doing everything in my power to make this coin everything it is destined to be.

We will rise again. This coin is constantly being improved by an active and growing development team.

I think the top couple addresses were exchanges? Maybe people have moved their coins off the exchange and into their own wallets?

I am just guessing here.

Great ideas guys. I can definitely look into adding some more stats to the block explorer once I've finished the next round of the wallet.

As a community based coin, we take all your suggestions seriously.

 Cool

Hello everyone, please rest assured that we are tirelessly working on this coin's development.

I was literally up till 5am on a work night finishing the beta client for release, so I hope you can understand that I have taken couple days rest after the beta launch.

Despite that, last night after I got home from my day job, I completed one of the node scripts of the anon network and we will begin our internal testing on that part shortly. One step closer.

While we are testing that, I am going to resume work on the client and fix the bugs we've found while also implementing some new features.

We will make a proper update about this next stage of the client in the coming days once we figure out a realistic timeframe for this.

I hope our current streak of constant updates and timely deliveries is keeping your confidence up that we will deliver the finished anon product as soon as possible.

All the best,
pakage

Hi,

I totally forgot it yesterday, but i have just send you 20.000 nav for your hard work and effort! I know it wont make you a millionaire but if nav will go up over time this amount of coins can have some nice value! And its just to show you my appreciation.

And if others also donate you get even richer Smiley

Can you explain a bit more about the node script. I will reread the anon whitepaper today to avoid other dumb questions, but what is a "node" and what does the script do and for what purpose?

cheers

Robin

I have received your kind donation. Thank you very much!

Quote
node
noun technical
1. a point in a network or diagram at which lines or pathways intersect or branch.
"the intersections of two or more such arteries would clearly become major nodes of traffic and urban activity"

The idea of the Navajo Anon Network is similar in architecture to the Tor Project for anonymous internet browsing.

It's not a very simple subject, but i will try to lay it out in somewhat basic terms as I understand the whitepaper. This is how I would explain the chain of events in a typical transaction;

I send an anonymous transaction from my wallet. The data which i send is encrypted by the wallet so it can't be openly viewed as it travels. The encrypted transaction gets sent to a random node which acts like a gateway into the anonymous network. The node processes the transaction it received and writes it to the navajo block chain. The node then transfers the transaction to the sub-block-chain which is a private and encrypted block chain which exists only inside the anon network. The transaction is forwarded to another random node inside the anon network which then commits the transaction back to the navajocoin block chain, encrypts the transaction and sends it to its final destination.

The strength of this method are:

1. Encrypted communication is very hard to decode, depending on the method it could take a super computer years to figure out the contents of a single transaction.
2. Random entry and exit points of the anon network make it virtually impossible to track the origin and destination of a transaction with meta data surveillance.
3. Using encrypted subchains means that the paper trail between origin and destination is physically broken. So, even if you had meta data showing that 300 NAV was sent by someone and that same amount was received by another person, you couldn't actually prove that it was the same transaction without access to the subchain transaction record which is not publicly available.

That's what I understand anyway. Soopy is the one who authored the whitepaper and most of the code, so he can correct me on some points I'm sure. I'm mainly just programming the website and some wallet features.

I hope that helps to explain it a bit further.

I want to ask, why is there very minimal interest in the NAVAJO COIN beta test client? I go there everyday, but only see 1 or 2 other members at most.

I think we might be missing each other. I open it when im in from of comp and leave it open. If im going afk i close it.

I have a suspicion that there may be a keepalive issue happening with the chat TCP connection.

It seems that if the client is idle for 'x' minutes, that the user gets logged off the server.

I will attempt to recreate and confirm or deny this suspicion tonight and work a fix into the next release of the client if it proves to be a problem.

This may be why you don't see anyone on the server, you may login when no one is there, but then after a while of being idle it loses the connection but doesn't tell you to reconnect.

Great testing there paycum, thank you very much. Those html entities as names weren't something which was on my radar.

I will definitely look to resolve these issues for the next release!

Emoticons are a great idea, i will investigate the effort involved in implementing them.

Other suggestions I've had so far is to somehow lock usernames to accounts, so someone can't just type in the name "pakage" and pretend to be me on the chat server.

I'm going to be looking into how to do this without over complicating it and also retaining some anonymity. It's a delicate balance which I hope to strike.

Cheers!

Thank you very much guys.

Between the website, wallet updates and helping Soopy build the Anon network, this is a pretty time intensive project.

Any donations are always appreciated as this is not paid work for me.

PS. I will keep my user logged into the chat as much as possible. Feel free to send me a message as part of your testing.
734  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Navajo Coin [NAV] -*New Wallet coming on Tuesday! 28/10* *NOW ON CRYPTSY* on: October 28, 2014, 10:00:31 PM
As mentioned, this is a Beta Client. Sometimes there are bugs which only become apparent when testing in real situations and we only want to include top quality code in the main wallet.

Please let us know if you find any bugs or feel there are features lacking and we will look at addressing these when we integrate these features into the next main wallet release.

Other things to note are that usernames are now unique on the server. If you try join with the same username as someone else, it will kick you from the server and ask you to choose another name. There are also some restrictions on the characters allowed in usernames. Also, "Chat" and "Server" are reserved names for the system.

Currently known bugs which we've found from our testing:

  • Scroll bar is ugly, needs better styling.
  • "User has left chat" message, causing new tab to open up if other user has already closed it.
  • links not opening browser in Private Message window, but working in main Chat window.
  • encryption to be added for Private Messages for better privacy

Please help us polish this feature before release to the main wallet by testing and helping us identify any issues.

When submitting feedback, please remember to include a good description of the issue as well as the steps required to reproduce the bug.

Restlessly yours,
Pakage.

There's some cheap coins at other exchanges that haven't caught up yet to the Bittrex rise in price (Bleutrade, BetaShareX).  Trying to get some btc together and scoop them up.  Might be the last time they are this cheap.

Anyidea what is up with BetaShareX? I've tried to make some purchases on there but they're just stuck in a pending state.

No SWIFT transactions for over an hour and a half now. Can't even cancel the transactions either.. Not awesome.

With all due respect for your work, I don't understand why you don't focus more on the important features like a new implementation of anonymous transactions and you're wasting time with this chat, since I've never seen more than 3 people on it.

like sum2dev said, soopy is working on the anon. the wallet update is done by package (correct me if im wrong).

@sum2dev, nice to see some regular updates, good job!

Will there be a way to send private messages in the chat, that would be a great addition in my opinion.

That's correct paycum Wink
That's a very good suggestion, yes, we are also working on that.
Cheers

Yes 100% correct. I've taken over the beta feedback from Soopy so he can concentrate all his efforts on finishing Anon Chat & Transactions.

@soopy, what can we expect next for nav? anon or an update on the chat?

I've been working on round 2 of the beta feedback. This covers most of the chat features which were suggested in the thread and it is progressing nicely.

I would expect to roll out the next wallet update some time in the coming week as long as our integration and testing phase goes smoothly.

I will update you on my progress on Monday and firm up a release date with the team.

Cheers

I'm glad that you all like the update. My hat goes off to Shahim for all his efforts.

I really hope that the recent series of timely releases restores your confidence that this coin has an active and dedicated team of developers behind it.

Slowly but steadily we will win the race.

Thanks for your continued support.

I'm sure I've seen a post in this thread about maximum age changing to one day but can't be bothered to look for it now

I asked before if the website info is dated but never got an answer

I think you're right and the website info is out of date. I'll update the staking specifications on the website once I get the exact details from Soopy.

Thanks for reminding me Smiley

Hashforce, please relax my friend. There's need for half the posts on every page to be from you. Please let the community discuss this alt coin instead of just filling up every page with the same posts.. We need the community right now and we need to hear both their concerns and their praises. Let it flow.
