I think the total bid depth on Gox is more surprising than the price.  Why is so much money flowing into Gox?  Not only are coin prices significantly higher on Gox, but it's practically impossible to get money back out.  I really don't get it.

The higher the price ,when one sells the bigger will be his bank roll.

I'd imagine that quite a few who sell on mtgox have intentions to buy back in lower because it's so difficult to withdraw large sums quickly. So they place their bid and wish for a crash.

The crash from the eventual high is going to be epic.

What could this mean if volume starts reaching that of traditional markets
Then I hope you are already wearing your space suit.  Wink

This "redlist" thing is just icing on the cake. His last shred of credibility was lost already back in october when he wrote this:

By the way - I'm amazed at how many people are surprised that a drug dealer with extreme anarcho-capitalist tendencies turned out to be not a swell guy! Imagine that!

Vote NO to destroying bitcoin

Bid depth has reached ATH on gox despite their market share being significantly reduced. Pretty bullish, although some of it may simply be people "unable" to withdraw placing bids.

I wouldn't count on 1 million any time soon, but I'd say your odds of making money are very good if you can hold for a couple of years or more. It's amazing to hear you consider yourself a capitalist at only 13 years old. Hopefully more youth is waking up now days thanks to the internet. That is really great to hear. Good luck and don't tell you parents, that's probably a bad idea lol.

Not going to lie, the more i read about people investing money from their loans, college funds, etc to buy btc I'm starting to get nervous..

We've been over 300 for how long?
We've been reading about this for a long time. Remember Falkvinge who put all his savings and loan into bitcoin at around $10?

Cup and handle has been forming on all four major exchanges the last four to five days. Very bullish.

Indeed. Tea party !

I think I was one of the last ones to successfully withdraw from gox, thankfully pulled out all I needed to buy my house before the withdraw problems started.

Although it was at an average of $120/btc, missed the 266 bubble and this runup... Would have been way better off with a mortgage.
You can talk about sellers remorse in a couple of years.

Well, except from reporting you for being a terrorist, holding the bitcoinica funds hostage, laggy engine, leaking 60k user accounts, ddos panic crash, delayed fiat withdraws, networks congestion delayed btc withdraws, ltc 6 months++ delay and rude support replies. Mark seems like a pretty cool guy.

- New Trade engine and yet they still suffer lag
No, they have apparently finished the new trading engine (midas) months ago, but it still has not been integrated, they are currently running the old laggy engine, but with much improved hardware.

btc-e is an anonymous exchange, people may be willing to pay for such privilege? They deposit with bitcoin/litecoin, sell, buy back later and withdraw with bitcoin/litecoin and never have to identify themselves.

Interesting. I wasn't aware of that. So how do they pay out dollar? Or are you saying they don't require ids for bitcoin payouts?

I'm just glad that there's multiple exchanges doing volume.
They require id if you want to deposit USD using bank transfer, but you can easily withdraw any cryptocurrency without id. In fact I think no id is required for cashing out USD either. Then they have USD deposit options such as perfect money which are also anonymous.
