721  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: wallet questions on: October 01, 2012, 04:37:06 PM
2nd question is about my wallet for namecoins.  i did some command line and got my namecoin address but thats all i have.  so if i lose that address, i loose all my namecoins?

If you have the official namecoin client, then make backup of namecoin wallet.dat
Because it is unencrypted, encrypt it (e.g. rar it with long password) and make several copies on dif places. If you sending your namecoins, then make periodic backups of wallet.dat, see
https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Securing_your_wallet
especially
https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Securing_your_wallet#Securing_the_Bitcoin-QT_or_bitcoind_wallet

Because I have no use for namecoins i withdraw the mined namecoins from pool right to deposit address of exchange service and exchanging 'em for bitcoins  Cheesy

is there a pool software for windows?

The original bitcoind client acts as a pool if you set server=1, username & password in .conf file. You can connect many miners to it.

I think you may have gotten the characteristics assigned to the wrong methods, but I might be wrong.

Your right, when I look at
https://vanitypool.appspot.com/solvedWork

only 1satoshi has addition as a solution type, others have multiplication
and because 1satoshi has the same public key as yet unsolved 1Satoshi then it makes sence addition is used when searching at many patterns at once with the same public key

I found TenDrawBTC - Free BitCoin Daily Scratchcard

Sure will add an additional 2 fields.

Did not realise that both were options.

Do you understand which is "better" for vanity mining?

Edit:
I just did a test and normal running, with -P and with mining binary all went at same speed.

So do not understand why adding or multiplying is a better method than the other.

Well, you can read vanitygen thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=25804.0  or ask there.
As I understand, but I may be wrong  Grin :

Addition:
Advantages (is faster)
Disadvantages (you can search one pattern only at a time)

Multiplication:
Advantages (you can search many patterns at a time)
Disadvantages (is slower)

To search 2 patterns at once and take advantage of multiplication method (and thus faster than searching 2x with only bit faster addition method), the public keys must be the same (-P option). Not always possible or desirable for vanitypool

But make your research, I may be wrong.

"Sounds like a PC performance issue. Are they running on a Windows machine?  How old is it?  What does Windows Task Manager show for the CPU load?  Do they have the latest version of Flash?"

Flash Player is latest, ActiveX 11.4.402.265, module 11.4.402.278

Netbook Model: Acer eMachine eMD350-21G16i
Processor Intel Atom N450 processor (Dual Core, 1.66 GHz, 512 KB L2 cache, 667 MHz FSB)
Chipset Mobile Intel NM10 Express
Memory 1GB DDR2
Display Screen 10.1" WSVGA TFT CystalBrite LED (1024x600)
Video Type Intel Graphics Media Acceleator
Storage 160GB HDD SATA
Win XP Home edition Service pack 3

When I play, CPU is 9 out of 10 times in range 15%-30%, 1 out of 10 time in range 30%-75%. It freezes only sometimes when new table opens, but it does not freeze completly, I can click on options or leave and a submenu shows (though when clicking something from the submenu it does nothing) and the submenus hides as well when I click outside out of it - when it freezes I mean this: I cant move the window and i see no action anymore.
729  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Looking for beta testers - Bitcoin penny auction site on: September 27, 2012, 07:28:08 PM
There are a couple new auctions set up for tomorrow that are scheduled to end around 2:45 PM EST.  One for 0.25BTC and one for 0.5BTC

I've updated everyone's account to have 10 free bids.  You'll need to decide on how to split your bids between the auctions.

http://bidfast.co/real_home

Few minutes before original start time of the auctions, you added two identical auctions. From this time I didnt saw time renmaining on all auctions, so for me it was blind auction. But this was the only issue I saw

Have updated to multiply. Just had to change an add to a multiply!

So now should work and users can easily generate the key to import. Please should if it does not look correct.

I will try and convince pointbiz to add to the original.

Nice work but could you please generate addition and multiplycation on the same page? I believe vanitygen and oclvanitygen uses addition when using -P publickey 1pattern

Are people still having issues with being frozen out and being unable to login?

Just got slammed with those issues a bit ago. Wondering if there are any solutions.

I have tried IE 8.0, Google Chrome 21.0 and Mozilla Firefox 15.0.1 and all have the same issue, it sometimes freezes when new table is openned up. Nice to see Im not alone... I can refresh the page and login normally then though
732  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Total time logged in on: September 27, 2012, 01:47:23 PM
The time between page requests cannot be too long to be counted as time logged in, 10 mins is ok. I guess the limit is like 15 min
733  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: Free Bitcoins Listing on: September 27, 2012, 08:05:29 AM
started this site free bitcoin website -> bitcoins.so

get 0.01 BTC , no registration/signup and no gambling

Nice new faucet but,

on home page it says:

"There are
0.1 Bitcoins
Bitcoins will be added occasionaly"

and when matching two dices and submitting bitcoin address it says:

"Sending Bitcoins
Account has insufficient funds (or not enough confirmations) to complete this action.
Thank You !"

Suggestions:
-update the amount left on homepage
-restrict to use only one spin / 24 hours / IP / bitcoin address
-make 3 dices to mach for a chance 1 out of 36 to win (currently 1 out of 6 will not last too much)
-decrease the win amount to 0.001 so it lasts more (send once a day all payouts in one transaction to save tx fees)
-maybe the amount of bitmills will be based on matching dices (for example 333 => 0.003, 666 => 0.006)

Seems bitcrate has been empty for a couple days... or did I just miss the windows when it was refilled?

I can confirm BitCrate is empty couple of days, I checking it like 6x / day

We definitely have enough people for a test tomorrow.

No news regarding the test?
736  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Giving away 5BTC on: September 25, 2012, 07:44:37 PM
too late?

tomorrow will be first testing, reference:

Thanks everyone for signing up!  We've got enough people to run through some tests.  Tomorrow around noon EST I'll set up the first test.
737  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Looking for beta testers - Bitcoin penny auction site on: September 25, 2012, 04:52:59 PM
We definitely have enough people for a test tomorrow.

Maybe you could list a new item on home page with countdown timer on it. 24hours count down timer should be ok, so most of us catch up this free auction
738  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Giving away 5BTC on: September 25, 2012, 02:37:08 PM
I just signed to test it out

When I log-in and on Home page I click on any of the 6 picture items, it shows me sign-up page. Shouldnt it show purchase bids page when I have 0 bids left?
739  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How Long am i a Noob? on: September 23, 2012, 07:28:23 AM

the same issue with blockchain.info webwallet is here
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=111845.0

the reason is insufficient fee (0.0005) for a tx of this size (6372 bytes). To get included by majority miners the fees had to be in this case 0.0035

The tx is broadcasted and sonner or later will be included in a block by a miner who includes tx with less than recommended fees. It can take several hours most likely, sometimes several days. You just have to wait now
