730  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: reduce laptop price by mining on: May 30, 2013, 02:00:13 AM
Hi all,

My computer is 5 years old so it's time for a new one!
For my studies I'm planning to buy an 15.6'' laptop and my budget is 1000 euro max (+-1300 dollar)

I was thinking, I saw a cool laptop with nice keyboard RGB light and so on (click) for 1200 euro (+-1550 dollar)
This laptop has a HD 7970M 2GB GPU so:
650MHash/s
I pay 0,20 euro (0.25 dollars) for a kWh
300W (no idea if this is realistic)
Let's say I'll mine 20/24
When I used this calculator (click) , it said I'll have my money (+-250USD) back after +-6 months

Do you guys think this will work or are those calculators worthless over such time.
Is 300W realistic?
Can a laptop handle the heat with 24/24 mining?

Thanks for any help!
Stienoo

I have a Alienware with the 7970m and I get about 300Mh running at around 60 C. I also know they have a great cooler where the CPU and GPU are cooled separately unlike most laptops.

Thanks for the difficulty question.  That may be it.  I was reading through this thread and saw the difficulty default is 16 (?).

I'm going to change the default difficulty down to 4 since most of my workers run in the 1500 to 1900 Mhash/s range.

I'll report back...

You do know how to do that right? Set password to d=4. You might even go lower with it...

I have a question regarding difficulty. I read that you should set all miners to the same diff if they are all pointing to the same username. I have 3 miners (300, 1400, and 3400) for a total of 5.1G any idea what I should set the diff to?

Thanks!

Debating about selling my mining rig that I just built in April, performs wonderfully but produces way to much heat for my little room.

Here is a good one for you, I backed up all my wallets the other day and I labeled all of them but one. I have since forgotten which coin this particular wallet belongs to, any ideas how to find out?

Thanks!
740  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] BFL Singles (FPGA) for 9.5 BTC each on: May 12, 2013, 05:59:21 AM
I'm looking to sell some of my BFL FPGA Singles:

9.5 BTC per Single, which includes:
 - FPGA Single (768-896 MH/s)
 - Power brick with US plug
 - USB Cable
 - USPS Priority (2-3 day) shipping to the continental US.  Shipping anywhere else will be extra.

17 units available

I can accept BTC (9.5 BTC) or Dwolla ($1100); I'm currently having some issues with PayPal so I unfortunately can't accept them. (apparently selling mining hardware is now against their terms of service - see my post here)

I'm okay with escrow, provided you pay any escrow fees.

PM/post if interested.

Thanks!

I could do 2 @ 18BTC
