Can anyone tell me if this is a good performance?
Approx 900 pps on an Intel Core i7 2600 using all 4 cores.
Approx 1200 pps on an AMD FX 8350 Black Edition using 7 of the 8 cores (setgenerate true 7)
I have those exact CPUs as well. My i7 2600 is getting ~1500 and my FX-8350 is getting 2200-2800... which build are you using? I had the first build, then updated it with this update: https://www.dropbox.com/s/lxm220qqztpgps5/release12_x86-64.zip

Is this Linux or a newer client? Win7, 2500K at 4600 I'm getting 200pps. It isn't Linux, it's just a standard MS windows setup.

Can someone pls explain the genproclimit concept?
For example I get -1 but I read others are talking about 80, 90 etc.

Same thing I've done since I started mining anything... Mine with total cores -1. Full speed GPU, good speed CPU mining.
On primecoin I had it at setgenerate true -1 (all cores) but that was sucking the power out of my gpu's for litecoin. I changed it to setgenerate true 7, leaving 1 free, and got the much improved performance, albeit with the 12 percent litecoin loss. Set the cpu affinity of CGMiner to use 1 core, and set it's priority to High (you can do this from the task manager or through a bat file by placing "start /affinity 1 /high" before CGMiner). Thanks Will this decrease the prime coin mining pps?

Just interested in putting this out and getting opinions.
Running litecoin mining and primecoin mining. Have an AMD 8350 and two 7970 graphics cards.
I have read that primecoin mining will not negatively effect gpu based mining.
But if I run primecoin utilizing all 8 cores on my processor it sucks the guts out of my gpu's and my litecoin hashes drop dramatically.
I have found a happy medium, running primecoin with 7 cores - this produces a drop in litecoin hashes of approx. 12 percent.
Would love to hear other peoples thoughts on this.

I was part of a discussion earlier and a question was raised. Considering all the information companies are sharing with governments, could it be possible that media players that connect to the internet for data, are not only getting information, but are sending it out? For example if you allow WM11 to connect to the net to get track info, it could send a list of songs you have, which is then saved for later use, either for marketing purposes or more sinister invasions of privacy? Also, could that be used as a consensual conduit for companies to gather information on your habits, preferences and activities?
We should sell the data about ourselves and pocket the money rather than wait for them to steal it and pocket nothing. lol - pretty much.

What does it mean when it says "8 active connections to primecoin network"? Does it mean the amount of cores on the CPU or something else?
That's how many nodes you're connected to. cheers

Also, I thought this didn't effect GPU mining? Even though it is pulling 0 it is sucking down my khash rate by a huge margin.
Are you spending 100% of your CPU time on primecoin? If so, you aren't leaving enough for the CPU to manage the GPU. Leave one core out of the primecoin mining to spend on other activities. i.e., "primecoind setgenerate true 7" (if running on an eight core machine) Thanks, it's a 4 core so I set it to use 3. It is still sucking down the GPU's by approx 10 percent, but it is a lot better than it was before.

eh, I spoke to soon, client is no longer showing out of sync, but is pulling 0.

You might need to kickstart it with addnode= in config..
I had a problem with that earlier today.
Thanks I entered it and got this error message: Method not found (code -32601) But then I came back a minute later and it was working!

Seeking advice,
Client on PC#1 says 8 active connections to primecoin network
But on PC#2 it says 0 active connections to primecoin network, and doesn't seem able to update it's "out of sync" status.

I believe you can mine both with USB Erupter and GPUs without any problems, but USB Erupter cannot be used to mine Litecoin or other scrypt coin.
Thanks

If I have a motherboard running to 7970's and a good amount of memory and good base system power, can I just plug a few of these into the USB port without diminishing the performance of the existing cards? Would there be any other adverse effects or issues?
Also, do these work for litecoin as well?

Bitcoin mining is 50% less profitable than Litecoin mining right now, see coinchoose.com
Please explain to us how you think that litecoin is more profitable than bitcoin? 50% is such a nice even rounded number, that I'd like to know how you mathematically reached it. That website does not compare BTC to litecoin. I used a litecoin calculator and found that it earns less coin and less USD per GPU. I am NOT using "room to grow" speculation.Speculation is guessing. Guessing is not fact. Lets talk about today, not the hypothetical future. Crypto is a speculative scene. It's all speculation to me.
