7221  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Decentralization and lack of authority as a weakness on: July 12, 2015, 04:04:26 PM
I've seen many people lately criticising bitcoin's lack of authority as a possible weakness. From what it seems, users have to put (at least some) trust to miners and pools and rely on them for things like generating blocks with updated clients, including transactions etc. Wouldn't such an issue scale up as bitcoin grows? Could it be addressed somehow?

i see what you mean but the solution is not by removing the decentralization and make an authority to look over them. the problem is coming from the SPV mining.
if pool decentralization continues hopefully this problem would be solved and no more pools would risk doing it.
7222  Economy / Speculation / Re: 2 years ago Cyprus, now Greece? new bubble on the way? on: July 12, 2015, 02:02:02 PM
Greek and Cyprus are two different scenarios as others have mentioned there were a lot of Russian investors in Cyprus and greeks's access to fiat is so restricted that they can not invest in bitcoin big time even if they want to.
but all that said the market movements are indicating a different thing, and looks like another bubble is shaping , we have to wait and see.
7223  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Online News Portal [updated] on: July 12, 2015, 01:51:11 PM
wow. i didn't know about half of that list.
i usually check coindesk for both the price since it has charts and shows a couple of exchangers and the news.
but mostly i check this forum plus subreddit of /r/bitcoin and some other related subs for bitcoin news.
7224  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ignore the FUD we're moving forward! on: July 12, 2015, 01:35:24 PM
I'm seeing a lot of FUD here as the price goes up. Keep squirming you greasy corrupt bastards, we're moving forward!
Where is the article that you find their are lot using FUD against Bitcoin, is it your just presumption or you have any facts to explain, come on man, just by discussing about Bitcoin transactions failure and delay we cannot call it as FUD.

just pay a visit to speculation section and check out the topics there for the last month, you'll see what he is talking about.

there has always been FUD and always will be, we should learn to decide on our own and based on our own knowledge and understanding of the market. not what some random person on the internet claims.
the funny thing is that trolls will spread their FUD no matter if price is going up or down, they just swim against the tide.

1. There is some consensus to raise the blocksize limit.  Something like "2 weeks after 75% of the hashing power signs a message"
to accept X MB blocks, Bitcoin core will update to do that.  I'm not sure where we are in the process.  But if you look at
a lot of the recent blocks, many are close to the 1MB, but not over, so it clearly hasn't happened yet.

2. There has been transaction stress tests but they haven't slowed down Bitcoin that much, except to push us against
the 1MB limit which are close to anyway.  The current spam rules are ok.

do you think the stress test (attacks) and the block size related?
i mean are they trying to force the increase?

Much like the price, this is something people can only speculate about.  Everyone has their own motives and I doubt we'll ever be able to know for sure what the real reason is for the stress tests.  Perhaps it is purely scientific, to see how the network reacts, or perhaps there's some other agenda at play and it's to prove a point.  There's no denying that the consequences of the test have got more people talking about the issue, but how much of that discussion is actually constructive is another matter, heh.  If anything, it only seems to be reinforcing and entrenching people's previously held stances.  Those that support 1MB say that the transactions with the highest fees are still making it through, which proves the system works.  Those that support a larger blocksize say this proves 1MB isn't sustainable and will lead to a two-tier service and Bitcoin becoming a niche for a small minority, rather than an open system that's available to everyone.  It won't be sustainable because the network will need to generate more in fees as the block reward diminishes over time and limiting the blocksize also limits the quantity of fees that can be collected.  Everyone agrees it has to scale, but few can agree on how yet.

thanks for explaining
i personally believe that these actions are way pass testing purposes and they are more of an attack, as you pointed out it is not still clear what the purpose behind it all is .
7225  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: is withdrawing from ATM anonymous? on: July 12, 2015, 01:21:21 PM
Hi, say if you obtain plastic VISA or MasterCard where you can withdraw your bitcoins directly from any ATM, are you being anonymous when cashing out? In my country every ATM has integrated camera in it.

as long as you are connecting to their system through your card and your transaction is going through their system, you can not stay anonymous because they have all your information and
what you did is being recorded.
so you are better off using bitcoin directly. this is why i disslike using any third party service when bitcoin is involved.
7226  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are we stress testing again? on: July 12, 2015, 01:17:39 PM
I find it great that the transactions volume is at a new level it shows growth even if is just spamming of stress testing, all network most be tested and taken to its limits to improve and innovate to a better one.

ok, you test and report the results so that the subject can be improved.
first of all there is a reason why a testnet exists.
second, these so called tests are getting annoying to everyone by delaying their bitcoin transactions, which means it is hurting the users more than it can prove any flaw in bitcoin system.
7227  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Best BTC wallet? on: July 12, 2015, 01:10:15 PM
Why not multibit, seems fast. For Android, I hear electrum is good.

Multibit will charge you extra fees to use their wallet. in other ways they force you to pay fee to the wallet devs in order to be able to send your transactions.
Electrum is much better.
7228  Other / Archival / Re: Updated Overview of Bitcointalk Signature-Ad Campaigns on: July 12, 2015, 01:06:30 PM
Amazing OP (and thread) Smiley But to keep is short: Which one pays best for each member group? I guess the one paying per post for +seniors, correct?

It depends if you post a ton or post little, if you post little amounts the fixed rate campaigns seems better.

Yeah, of course, but say if you regular make 50-100 posts a week, it seems to me those should pay best (without doing any calculation).

i think the best signature as of payment was Dadice which is closed now.
next high level payment is Coinut so far. IMO

but you can always check out OP for all the rates.
7229  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Which Bitcoin Exchange do you use and why ? on: July 12, 2015, 01:02:58 PM
I love yobits now, small exchange but with good folks, also ccex and btc-e is also comfortable.

I just want exchange with chatbox, i think the social element is important here..

Do YoBits & C-Cex accept FIAT or they are crypto only exchange. If they accept FIAT, then where are they located ?

as far as i know they are both altcoin exchangers and not bitcoin, so usually they only have bitcoin deposit/ withdrawals option available.
7230  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Hello from tunisia ^^ on: July 12, 2015, 12:59:22 PM
i wanted some word done with Autocad a while back too bad i didn't know you back then Smiley
but if you have skills in such drawing applications you can offer your services in the service section of the forum:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=52.0
since you have a new account you should use escrows for all your work.
good luck.
7231  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Problem with Bitcoinker Faucet on: July 12, 2015, 12:15:56 PM
most probably the faucet had ran out of funds so they can not pay out for now. or there is the possibility that their wallet has some problems, like api problem everyone is experiencing with blockchain.info's api

you should wait longer, if they haven't gone broke and given up they would recharge it soon. and your problem will be fixed. this is a common thing among faucets.
7232  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I want bitcoins. on: July 12, 2015, 12:12:41 PM
any bitcoin ATM around your region?
otherwise, you have your debit card and/or bank card?
buy it, or buy a miner to work in bitcoin.
gambling is explicitly useless.

well gambling would of course be useless assuming that op has no bitcoins to gamble with in the first place, seeing as he is looking to buy some.

yup, i would get to legit cloud mining site instead if i wanted to mine bitcoin. btw, i guess there is some application in which helps people to buy bitcoin instantly in convenience shop.

Legit what? No. Cloud mining is no good for starters as it is considered as ponzi. If OP likes to take risks on his money and gamble away his treasures, he'd go with cloud mining. But the golden rule is "Invest what you can afford to lose."

not to mention that any legitimate cloud mining investment will take an incredibly long time to roi; its just not worth it except as a fun thing to put some spare change into on the side.

i have tried some of the cloudmining services. they are either scam, ponzi schemes that sell GHS at low prices and promiss good returns or
they are legit but mining is not actually profitable, or at least the profit is so small that makes it a hard decision whether or not to invest.
7233  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Raise the minimum transaction fee on: July 12, 2015, 10:48:14 AM
Why not just raise the transaction fee to .0005 per transaction?? That will make the attack way more costly and the cost is still negligible to typical bitcoiners.

there is a lot of micro transactions being done using bitcoin, if the fee were to be risen they would simply not worth sending anymore.
besides you can increase it for your transactions but it should not be forced, and i am sure a lot of bitcoin users are against increasing amount of fees .

7235  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Unstable BTC value is negative point ? on: July 12, 2015, 10:33:07 AM
Why people will do business in BTC when they will not be so sure how it is going behave ? Since its creation, BTC has never been able to keep its value stable for long period of time. From "long period of time" i mean period of time which is necessary to win people's trust.

IMO this is exactly why it is not mass adopted yet. this is why big companies and online services like amazon still don't accept bitcoin.
also the few of them that actually do accept bitcoin as payment , they are not really working with bitcoin because they exchange it to fiat as soon as they receive the payment.
7236  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Should i change my wallet? on: July 11, 2015, 04:04:53 PM
Should i change my wallet im experiencing lots of bugs with blockchain.info , but i still dont know if i should change or what other wallet i should get ,i like the onlines one because im scared that if something happens to my pc i couldent login to my wallet

can someone please tell me what i should do ?
should i change my wallet?

my advice to you (as the same thing i did):

keep the blockchain.info wallet, it is an easy and fast way to send / receive bitcoin from anywhere. but move your majority of coins away from it. keep low amounts there.

you can do two things as an alternative:
either use a full node like core or armory if you don't have problem with the size.
or use light wallets like Electrum for storage. and don't worry about your pc you only need to write down your seed on a piece of paper to be able to access the funds later if anything happens.

also if you have like big amounts (>50, 100 BTC) and don't want to spend then soon, make a secure paper wallet.
7237  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Best BTC wallet? on: July 11, 2015, 03:58:33 PM
Hi! I'm using Blockchain.info for 1 year and I'm not very happy with it, I see a lots of bugs, weak security etc..
What is the best wallet you know? All I want is to import my private keys and easy sending. I would also appreciate good security and 2FA.

there is no best BTC wallet. but there are worst wallets like online wallets.

it is totally up to you on how good you secure your wallet.

you can choose bitcoin core or armory if you dont have problem with downloading 40 GB of data.
or use an SPV wallet, i personally prefer Electrum. it is fast and easy to use, and you can make an offline version for more security.
or you can make a paper wallet for the best security and only holding bitcoin for long time.
7238  Economy / Gambling / Re: bitcoin dice randomness on: July 11, 2015, 03:55:04 PM
you also have to consider the house edge which will change all your calculations that you did without considering it.

p.s. move your topic to the gambling section of the forum.
7239  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best way to earn Bitcoins? on: July 11, 2015, 03:50:19 PM
which will be the best way for me to earn?

you are wearing a signature, therefore you have already the best way, if you want more bitcoin there is only trading

Well this is getting started, any good other way?

other ways depend on what skills you have and what services can you offer?

for example if you can do web designing , programming , graphical design and many more computer related stuff, you can offer to work for others and get paid in bitcoin.

another good way is trading. if can master it , you can actually earn a nice amount of bitcoin every week.
7240  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Did you earn some bitcoin today? on: July 11, 2015, 03:40:33 PM
I guess he hit the jackpot on freebitco.in 0.06BTC or 0.6BTC, because I really never heard of someone hitting the numbers 10000 Cheesy
yeah 100.000 satoshi not bad Smiley
Well if he hit the jackpot in freebitco , he is the first people in this forum that I heard to win the jackpot Cheesy I cant believe that those previous jackpot winners have no account in btctalk.
it's just 0.01% to hit number 10000 Grin it's imposible to me but who knows ??
every people have different lucky maybe he got big lucky today

yeah it's just decoration Grin
so that people want to visit and play faucet that keeps trying and trying again to hit the number 10000  Grin

i have never heard anybody on any forum to claim that they have hit the number one prize on freebitco.in

the chance is very small but from all these users all over the world who are visiting that faucet everyday you kinda expect at least one to win that.
