7221  Economy / Services / Re: i will pay fees for this transaction acceleration on: June 12, 2021, 10:52:35 AM
Done using a few free accelerators, I hope it helps.

To accelerate a transaction and just rebroadcast it is not even close to the same - the first has an impact on when the transaction will be confirmed, and the second only ensures that the transaction does not drop out of mempool.

The transaction is unfortunately not have RBF enabled, and probably the best option at the moment is to be patient and hope the weekend empties the mempool - currently the transaction is about 13 MB from the tip.
7222  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are there any MAURITIAN here? Bitcoin still not popular in Mauritius on: June 12, 2021, 10:39:13 AM
I was wondering any reason in particular why BlueWallet would be better than Blockchain.com in regards to betting sites?

I don’t think he meant anything explicit in the context of sports betting or gambling, but that it’s much better to have complete control of your private keys in a non-custodial wallet - than to have confidence in online crypto wallets. It is true that blockchain.com allows backup (seed words), but there is always a danger that someone will hack your online wallet - most often if you click on the phishing link and in that way expose your login information.

However, it should be noted that some online wallets or crypto exchanges have a ban on transactions with gambling/betting sites - so it is always better to use a desktop/mobile custodial wallet.
7223  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Tonga May Be The Next Nation To Adopt Bitcoin! Madness! on: June 12, 2021, 10:24:28 AM
Would be nice but notice that Tonga has a population of 100k. Now, compare that with El Salvador with a population of 6 million... 60 times more population.

Does it even matter how many people they have, if they are countries that most people don't even know how to find on a world map? It's a drop of water in the ocean, no matter how important it is - although you could say that every journey starts with the smallest step.

What many forget is that any decision can be revoked, and El Salvador has already found itself under pressure from financial vultures who will do everything possible to make this experiment of theirs fail. The only question is how much they want it and how much influence they have on the president - that is, do they know some dirty secret they can blackmail him with - or will the US send its democracy promoters (special forces) to knock on his door in the middle of the night.
7224  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Xapo Wallet on: June 12, 2021, 10:07:01 AM
I also read something like that, the bunker is in the mountain in Switzerland. I don't know if that's true.

I was watching a documentary on national TV and the journalist team entered that bunker after a few months of waiting - security measures are really at a high level - it seems to such an extent that even legitimate users cannot get their funds.

That's exactly the same message I received, fortunately, after tracking my transactions from other wallets etc, I found out that most of my money had been moved to BitGo, which was inactive for more than 2 years, my balance was intact.

Can you explain how your funds from Xapo were transferred to BitGo? While it really seems weird to me, maybe other users might try to get their coins in a similar way.
7225  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Xapo Wallet on: June 11, 2021, 01:16:41 PM
It is quite justified for someone to deny the provision of their services at a certain moment, this usually happens because companies have to adapt to the new legislation and have no choice. What is completely unjustified is the retention of clients ’funds, and if you ask me it is completely illegal and has no legal basis.

As far as I can see people are complaining about their actions everywhere because they have literally lost everything they had in their accounts - which is again a big warning to anyone who has ever wanted to use any custodial service - after all it means you can lose everything you have if you are not your own crypto bank.
7226  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Taproot lock in in about 20-22 hours on: June 11, 2021, 12:51:20 PM
The next day will be a big day for bitcoin since it looks like Taproot will lock in in about 20-24 hours...

What you're talking about will have a 0% effect on the average user who doesn't understand what it's about anyway, not to mention that it's not news that the mainstream media would emphasize at all - for the simple reason that they don't understand such technical things, and if there are no clickbait titles, there are no earnings either.

The next day will be just one in a row in which 90% of those who own Bitcoin will wake up and look at the price - everything else is irrelevant.
7227  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: And now the IMF comes in! on: June 11, 2021, 11:06:30 AM
I mean, what the heck! What do you want to happen to the beautiful country of El Salvador? To remain stuck in its cesspool?

Can anyone be surprised that the IMF takes such an attitude towards something they cannot directly control? What this little country is trying to do is a real nightmare for the people who rule the world through their financial mechanisms, because centralizing power and creating dependence on someone or something is the way people around the world are controlled.

I do not know if El Salvador has any agreements with the IMF, but it will be interesting to see how their government manages to cope with all the challenges and pressures they will now be exposed to. What I know for sure is that many will criticize their decision and wish them failure, but in the world we live in, nothing else could have been expected.

$6 billion sent by their expatriates each year is a lot of fees for banks and various other money transfer service providers - there is no doubt that part of such transactions will now go through Bitcoin.
7228  Economy / Economics / Re: Ransomware hacks linked to Crypto are killing Bitcoin slowly !! on: June 11, 2021, 10:42:17 AM
Cyber attacks linked to Crypto payments will ultimately lead to a "blanket ban" of all Crypto currencies, because this is giving the regulatory authorities the ammunition they want to ban Crypto currencies.

Ransomware did not originate with the advent of cryptocurrencies, and the first such attack was recorded back in 1989 - so there is no need to panic that this type of hacking will kill Bitcoin quickly or slowly. The main culprit in this story are irresponsible individuals and companies who do not take measures to protect themselves from such attacks, which would be far cheaper than paying ransoms.

Of course, opponents of Bitcoin will use this for their attacks, but they do it constantly, and it is not just about ransomware, but also drugs, weapons, terrorism and the agenda about Bitcoin destroying the environment. However, if we look objectively at the data on how many criminal activities can be linked to Bitcoin, then it is about 1% or even less - the question is whether this is a justifiable reason for any attack on crypto?
7229  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Mining Council on: June 11, 2021, 10:22:33 AM
The interesting part is that one of the founding members is Michael Saylor, CEO of Microstrategy so why would he join in with Marathon and why this so-called council in the first place, and don't tell me he converted them over a cup of coffee to become pioneers of decentralization.
Did Marathon really turn 180 degrees out of the blue or this just a move to get more influence till they start again with their agenda?

Through the very short history that Bitcoin has, it has been shown that some of the biggest supporters have become its biggest enemies and for the sake of profit have completely gone the wrong way. It is possible that Saylor has some hidden agendas, and that he is not exactly what he is trying to present to the public - and when it comes to an investment of over $2 billion, then nothing will stand in his way to protect it.

American investors are very critical of China's influence on BTC mining, no doubt trying to change something about it - so I'm not at all surprised that Saylor has his fingers in the Marathon and probably in some other things that are still unknown to us. When you look at the whole situation in the US regarding cryptocurrencies, it's hard to shake off the impression that they are not trying to do something that would give them much more control and reduce decentralization.
7230  Other / Off-topic / Re: Your password was leaked? on: June 11, 2021, 09:50:17 AM
Recently, there was news that hackers have posted a huge database of 8.4 billion passwords on the Internet. This is the largest password leak in history. It turns out that only 8.5 billion of them are unique.

It is actually a number of 82 billions, of which about 10% is reportedly unique. I don't think it's anything new, because this whole database has been linked to hacking since 2011 and most of those passwords aren't used anymore anyway.

The golden rule when opening an account, registering on forums and social networks or crypto exchanges is that you have a separate e-mail with a unique password for each account. This may seem a bit complicated, but just one email and one password associated with all your online activities in case of hacking means a real nightmare.
7231  Economy / Services / Re: Free BTC transaction accelerator! on: June 10, 2021, 03:44:50 PM
Probably acceleratated with the help of Lucius.

I have nothing to do with that transaction - and if you tried to speed it up, then you succeeded Wink
7232  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price movement for June & July 2021 on: June 10, 2021, 03:34:00 PM
Hey guys I just sold all my BTC while the price was $59000. What do you think will be the dip for this bear market? $19k? At what price should I buy BTC again with the best possible profit.

You have to be careful with what you wish, because if it really comes true for you, then it's over with the profit you imagine. A return to the values that were last year would mean that we will stay there for a very long time. If you really want to be greedy, place your orders at $19k and pray to the goddess of greed to listen to your wishes - you may be lucky enough to buy at that price - but also to witness an even bigger drop after that.
7233  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does UBER accept bitcoin in 'El Salvador'? on: June 10, 2021, 02:43:30 PM
I wonder how popular is bitcoin payment in Uber in 'El Salvador'.

What do you think about how popular it is to pay with BTC and then wait for the transaction to be confirmed? It should be clear to everyone that paying with BTC is not instant (except in the case of LN), and that most have no idea what a mempool is and how to determine the appropriate fee at a given time.

7234  Economy / Economics / Re: Ruffer scores $750 Million profit from Bitcoin on: June 10, 2021, 02:22:23 PM
I do understand devastating effects of bitcoin mining...

The devastating effects are only the invention of those who oppose the idea of Bitcoin, and the ignorance of the so-called journalists who write such articles because they are paid for it. At least 50% of all energy used for mining comes from renewable energy sources, and if we want to solve the problem of those who destroy the world with their activities, then we should start from the top, not the bottom.

At the end of the day we all do the same but with a much smaller capital, isn't the whole point for many people just to make profit?

For the vast majority, profit comes first, and the future of Bitcoin is a side issue - of course, until profit is made. Most people have too much fear of the authorities to accept something that is trying to oppose the system. That is why they see BTC only as a tool for profit, and they will use it until someone tells them that it is no longer desirable.
7235  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcointalk Market Sentiment Poll 6/8/2021 on: June 10, 2021, 02:05:02 PM
Lets take 2017 for example, if you ask anyone today about 2017 they will say without a doubt that 2017 was a bull market. However we have had many big dumps from 30% to 50% just like we have this year and yet people call 2017 bullish! If you analyze the market all those dumps were similar to this dump, a fast and short lived dump that was the result of market manipulation for additional accumulation of cheap bitcoins before the ATH was reached not a trend.

People are so convinced that BTC has fired all the ammunition for this year and that crypto winter is knocking on the door - and everyone is looking at one narrow picture without even wanting to consider something that happened in the past - and it is very similar to the situation we have today. There is no doubt that it is very easy to manipulate the crypto market, and this time the real whales do it really with style - they chose the perfect moment, they profited, and now they accumulate coins for the next big payout.

Honestly, I'm not sorry that 95% of investors lose money - so many years and patterns of behavior, and they have not learned anything yet. Smart people would say Historia est magistra vitae, others should stick to the fact that history does not always repeat itself - history will tell who will do better in the end.

Unfortunately, I can't help you - your fee is too low for this accelerator.

@ChuckBuck, even if I was online I couldn't help you because you set a low fee both times - as you've already read vbyte and byte are not the same - and if you have a new transaction that meets the conditions, I'll be happy to help.

How about this one guys?
cc4c396f66b765648a36a345069de81f4743757013bbde05022025dc80915511

Also too low fee, which means I will have to edit the title to prevent further confusion...
7237  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Co-founder and CEO of Avenue Capital Group lamented he should have bitcoin on: June 09, 2021, 02:24:03 PM
He literally says "he's sorry he didn't buy more BTC" which means he already owns a certain amount. And everything else is just a logical consideration if you look at the bigger picture - while on the other hand the masses just look at the numbers that change on the screen and panic because of unrealized short-term losses.

People say BTC has been dead for more than 10 years, they have officially buried it more than 400 times - but that says more about people in general than about some other things.
7238  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcointalk Market Sentiment Poll 6/8/2021 on: June 09, 2021, 01:57:34 PM
In the year following halving ask a question like this? Has no one learned anything from the example of 2017 or is it confirmed once again that people nowadays have a very short memory?

Someone is trying to trick you again, and most have just accepted their game and in the end you will be left with empty pockets, and they will buy new yachts and luxury residences. I'm totally bullish this year, no matter the price - there's something in the money, but still Bitcoin should be a lot more than that, right?
7239  Economy / Economics / Re: Ruffer scores $750 Million profit from Bitcoin on: June 09, 2021, 01:18:35 PM
I do not know why we should even congratulate them, because investment firms like this are harmful to Bitcoin. They come in guns loaded with Fiat and they buy huge amounts of bitcoins and every speculator out there goes crazy, because it bumps up the Bitcoin price.

When news began to appear about companies investing in BTC, I wondered how long it would take them to start profiting from their investment - and that the price of BTC would depend on when they start emptying their bags. This is of course good for them, but bad for the overall image that is being sent to the public that BTC is just a profit-making tool. The company in question has obviously entered the game to profit, the market is open, and we have nothing to complain about - at least they didn't try to sell us a story about how they sell their BTC because they are worried about the devastating effect that mining has on the environment.

This is a reality to be accepted and this is just the first round in a series of many yet to follow - they will milk BTC to the last drop, there is no doubt at all. Little people have the only power in their numbers, and if each of us bought at least $100 worth of BTC each month, we might leave them less room to maneuver.
7240  Economy / Economics / Re: Permanent residence in El Salvador for crypto entrepreneurs on: June 09, 2021, 12:56:56 PM
Anyone from El Salvador can give any feedback about living costs and living situation in this country?

I doubt that someone from that country will answer your question - but the internet is full of information that interests you. What should always be taken into account is the fact that we can talk about average prices or prices for a specific city or region - and of course there is a universal rule that big cities are always more expensive to live in compared to some rural areas.

From what I’ve read, El Salvador is somewhere in the middle in terms of the cost of living when it comes to Central America and it’s not exactly cheap if you look at the big cities of San Salvador, Santa Tecla, or Antiguo Cuscatlan.

I will list some interesting facts from the article.

The cost of living in El Salvador for a family of four, without rent, ranges from $1,000 to $2000. However, these ranges can go as low as $600 or higher than $2000.

Purchasing real estate in El Salvador is almost the same as buying in other countries, it is all about the location. The more desirable the area or neighborhood is, the more it will cost.

On the low end and in safe neighborhoods, you could probably buy a smaller house or condominium with about $175,000. As for the higher end, in these cities, you can pay $900,000 or more for a home.

El Salvador is full of colorful small towns such as Suchitoto, Juayua, Apaneca, and Sensuntepeque. Buying real estate in these towns is way less expensive, to purchase a house you will need $35,000 on a low cost, and $150,00 or more at the higher end.

The primary utilities are Electricity that will cost about $75 per month, cooking gas about $30 per month, and Water about $35 per month. Additionally, home cable with unlimited internet will cost between $50 to $90 per month.

A single person in El Salvador can live comfortably on $200 a month of food, of course, some people might go lower or higher than the $200. It all depends on the individual’s wants, needs, and budget.

When I look at these prices, I can't say that it's something affordable from my EU perspective - because I pay for a landline phone + high speed internet only around 20 EUR (unlimited calls&data), and the price of real estate in somewhat safer areas seems very high. As for crime, the situation has reportedly improved significantly with the arrival of a new president, but how safe the country actually is... -> more on that topic - Crime in El Salvador
