This man here bought 18,600 BTCs at $63k.
Current Loss: -404,775,658.1 USD

[...image snipped...]

As others have already pointed out, "current loss" is irrelevant. Like OutOfMemory, a friend of mine bought at the very top of 2017 (at just under $20k). He was "currently losing" for the entire 3 years that followed. But he was smart and did not sell. Since December 2020 he is in "current gain" mode... In fact, there is no real gain or loss, since he has never sold a single sat.

Whoever bought the above 18,600 BTC is smart AF.

Yep and ImThour's statement is 100% incorrect at this moment in time. Since he said currently losing and he is not currently losing a dime.

https://bitinfocharts.com/bitcoin/address/3K5dmrkBMS8ZVgERMLwiw7PJuG8GWTbo8e

current loss = zero

he is hodling.

and he now has the opportunity to buy in at 41k

thus the 63k+41k = 104K / 2 or 52k price for break even.

Tell you what if he sells you can then say his loss is whatever. 404 mill I think.

Actually if I were the op I would delete his post as to say current loss is 404 million is a 100% lie.

I don't let liars keep there post.

100% proof provided in this case.

What really annoys me is he disgraces the nam of my Late  great uncle ThorLief as Thour is a riff on Thor as is ThorLief.

At ThourLief it is okay to hate any coin you want and I have a lot of ways to voice hate or dislike of a coin.

LN still seems to be the largest threat to BTC  riff on that if you will. BTC I am not sure that LN will hurt BTC ,but I think down the road say 2050 or 2060 it will.

Once miner do not get many fees for the then smaller blocks they may vote for a fork and against the LN version of BTC I will likely be dead in 2050 or 2060. Time will tell but at least the LN argument against BTC could be true.

What you posted is a lie.
7263  Economy / Economics / Re: Inflation hits USA on: April 19, 2022, 01:50:08 PM
I'm skeptical with the inflation numbers.  Iran with my naked eye prices for the everyday things I buy have gone up significantly higher.  Will be interesting to see what the rlfed does next month when they meet.  Expecting a 50 point raise in the interest rates to help combat interest.  Gonna kill mortgage rates, and stymy housing price rises.  Feeling very 2007-08.  Not that we have scammy lending practices but house prices can be upside down and foreclosure surging could happen just like it did.  Watching all this closely to see how it pans out.  Either way looks like we are gonna see some hard years ahead.

well food you have to eat. so i estimate food is up 33%.

I am diabetic so I have to skip a lot of cheap foods.

Strawberries work for me. A small basket used to be 1.99 to 2.99

Now 3.99 to 5.99

Heavy cream a pint 1.99

Now 4.99

So a safe desert went from 3.98 to 8.98

Meat I eat grass fed beef. Orders shipped to me are about 220

now 280.

Frozen veg on sale 5 for a dollar each
Now 3 for 4 dollars.

Eggs 1.79-1.99 a dozen
Now 2.99-3.69 a dozen.

I do not eat bread due to diabetes but it has gone up over 25%.

Cereal you have to find sales and it is a bad food for me as a diabetic.

Pork on sale a big loin could be 99 cents a pound now 2.49 a pound.

My food bill is 50% higher.
My gasoline price went from 1.99 to 4.09 a gallon
My electric  cost in winter was 13 cents now 14.5 cents.
Summer price will come next month we will see what that is.

I lucked out on cars but the lease will end in 26 months. we will see what I get hit on that.

Clothes have been fairly okay.

Homes my house is over 500k
was under 375 k march of 2020.

My neighbor paid 365k in 2016 Just sold for over 565k in 2022
7264  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: April 19, 2022, 03:27:21 AM
Nice spike to 43K on Kraken, triggered a couple orders, and now back down, someone bought 17BTC apparently.

Oh, my, so the liquidity is SO LOW there that 17 BTC buy causes a 2K spike (it is less than $1 mil)?

If they upgraded from a raspberry pi to a proper server they might be able to handle more liquidity.

thats funny have a merit.

@philipma1957

Which 90ti you have? Which fan speed and the other things? gpu/ram temp? watt/efficiency? Thanks Smiley

I have evga 3090 ti ftw3

I have evga 3090 ti xc3

But recently evga dropped the 3090 ftw3 to 1699

so to me it is now the better deal.

There is even a more effective solution to this because this problem isn't affecting small numbers of people, your motherboard is higher-end old AMD motherboard so its worth spending extra dollar on,  do you know that there are heat sinks built specifically for North Bridge temp? Check this out

They works beautifully, you can also add a fan.

that looks really good

That dip under $40K didn't last long.  You can see that there's demand waiting to buy the dips now and the floor keeps rising.  I'm a bit surprised with all the Do Kwon buying along with Saylor out doing his promo thing we're still seeing Bitcoin's price decline in the short term.  I thought Do Kwon was going to carry us above $50,000 and then that might set off a wave of FOMO that would push us back towards the highs.  It seems people are being smarter about their purchases now, which has me thinking that maybe retail investors have run out of speculative funds to throw into crypto and we're now seeing large funds looking to scoop up deals as opposed to retail buyers FOMO'ing the price to overvalued levels.  I'd feel pretty good about buying in with the big boys under $40K here, even though cyclically we should be seeing a downturn in price at this point in time.

Or cycles no longer apply due to smaller mining block rewards and less fees for miners due to LN network.

Time will tell if this is simply 2018  before the hash rise price drop 9 month pattern that turned up.
7268  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining rig burning smell! on: April 18, 2022, 01:09:46 PM
But in general, the 8-pin splitters(1 female to 2 males) shouldn't overload the single 8-pin source connector?
If a gpu needs one 8-pin and one 6-pin plugs to be powered, doesn't need more power than a single 8-pin source plug can manage?
So is it safe to use these splitters?

assume he has the right one
assuming it was wired correctly and not defective
a cpu cable should be able to do 225 watts max
spilt it into 2 pcie plugs
have a third cable feed the riser. even a dedicated sata doing only 1 riser.

you should be able to do 175  24/7/365 on the  cpu/pcie adapter
and 50 24/7/365 on the sata to the riser.

or 175+50=225 24/7/365

he said he is doing a 6700 to a 6700xt. if he sets the power correctly it pulls under 175

he should be good

if he wired a nvidia 3090 fuck no he will melt shit.
7269  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: High temp on mobo heat sinks on: April 18, 2022, 01:02:28 PM
I have this gigabyte motherboard AMD 970A that only knows how to get extremely hot if turned on, it has up to 5 PCIe slots that can be used for crypto mining but the temp issue is scary, here is a view

Those heat sinks, the one that has gigabyte written on and the one beside the first PCIe x16 slot are getting extremely hot, I don't know what might be the problem here.

what is extremely hot? 100c? or 50c?

50c is about 122f
100c is about 212f

50c wont be an issue
100c is wrong.

if you do not have an infrared meter to measure.

100c will give you a burn 🔥 on your finger 50c won’t.

Thanks for replying, the Northbridge heat sink is the issue, it burnt my finger if I put on the sink for just 4 seconds, im guessing its up to 100°C because its the exact type of hotness I get from the backplate of my RTX 3080 graphic card, is there any solution in mind?.

pop the heat sink very carefully and repaste it.

get a small fan

https://www.newegg.com/noctua-nf-a6x25-flx-case-fan/p/N82E16835608032?

small grills

Figure a way to mount this on the freshly pasted heat sink

btw here is a good thermometer

This weekend Is:

 1) Easter 2) Passover 3) Ramadan

I wonder if BTC will resurrect itself This Mon to Fri April 18-24?

It's Duminica Floriilor (Palm Sunday) for those who base their date for Easter on the Julian calendar which means another chance at resurrection the following week.  As the Ukrainians are saying today: Бyд’ вeликий як вepбa, здopoвi ’як вoдa, бaгaтi як зeмля (Be as big as a willow, healthy as water, rich as earth)

I know that there are multiple Easters as I lived in Astoria ,Queens 1986-1992 and meet the head of the Greek Orthodox Church as there was a Major Greek church a few blocks from my apartment. Also watched Telly Savalas film an episode of Kojak at that same church.  St. Demetrios Cathedral on 31st street and 30th Dr.

I could not figure a way to include the other Easters, but you did a good job thank you.

7273  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Whatsminer M20S reliability on: April 17, 2022, 11:56:22 PM
the whatsminer m20s need temps a bit lower than bitmain does.

My whatsminers are pretty much dead.

2x 20s
1x 21s
1x 10

only one left is a m10 it keeps on working.

Based on my limited amount of use with them I would not get them.

I would get the s19's and bite the bullet. just buy a few less than planned

ie if you can get 10 get 5 or 6

Mine with your 5 or 6 hope for a better price down the road.

You have some stored cash and you are mining with the 5 or 6 you got.

it will do about 175 watts safely maybe 200 your new card should be okay with it.
Yes i already have 12 of these splitters, so do you mean i can use 1 splitter to connect my 6700 XT to the 8-pin CPU2 connector of one of my psus?
And one of the two 6-pin connectors(labeled as Perif1 and Perif2) to power the riser?

yes all from same psu . but make absolutely sure that you have a cpu to pcie splitter.

if you use the cpu jack on the psu and the cpu cable to the proper splitter it works.

I have one splitter coming to my house today.

it must be  cpu to 2 pcie

not pcie to. 2 pcie

give me about an hour i can check if mine came in today.

OT:

Avoid chicken if you can.

The chicken you are eating has increased 364% in size over the last 50 years.

Here is what this means for your health.

THREAD: https://twitter.com/mrsollozzo/status/1515324097223225345?s=21

True story... some of the tastiest chicken I have ever eaten, was in Thailand, and they looked far far more like the 1957 chicken in the picture above...  running around one minute , then snap, pluck, cook... tasty as fuck.

I used to live in Queens,New York City

In Jamaica Queens they had a live poultry market. Pick the bird and it is yours. Fresh kill and they hand it to you warm  gutted with a few feathers still stuck. Best chicken I ever had. It was in-between the 1957 and 1978 models in size.

if they stick with 256bit memory bus then I think results might not be very good ... 5700xt still rocks more in sense of being an ultimate mining card or something Smiley

just my thoughts Smiley

the 6800xt is pretty good, but was costly.

I got lots of 5700xt under 400 before all the shit hit the fan.
7278  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: My Gigabyte mobo acting up on: April 17, 2022, 12:40:58 PM
My motherboard won't work with mixed graphic cards, if you add AMD GPU with Nvidia GPU the motherboard will start behaving abnormalities, boots and shut downs, boot and reboots, long time to boot on, all this stuffs but if I use 1-6 sets of the same graphic cards it will work perfectly, I've never seen anything like it.

Not the mobo as much as software.

Do you run windows to mine and do nicehash?

I have some new upgraded rtx 2060 12gb evga and they only run well with each other.

I can not put the on a mobo with any other cards and get results.

And I have a dozen mobos to fuck with not just a gigabyte.

The bios on the evga card is twisted.

7279  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining rig burning smell! on: April 17, 2022, 03:38:31 AM
yeah I was extra cautious as a molex cable  can usually handle 2 lesser power cards. A sata cable not so much

he did get a very good set of power supplies in the 1300 watt EVGA's with enough cables to do his setup safely.

Thanks!
Another gpu is about to arrive and is a Radeon 6700 XT that has 2 power connectors: 1 8-pin and 1 6-pin.
On my 2 psus, i already have used most of the power connectors dedicated to the gpus, but there are other 2 6-pin connectors labeled as "Perif1", "Perif2" and another 8-pin connector labeled as "CPU2".
I wish to know if i can safely use these connectors to power the new 6700 XT, that is the CPU2(8-pin) and one of the 2 PerifX(6-pin) connectors.
Thanks again.

$400 for 60 days is pretty impressive with a bank. A year ago when the premiums were high for USDT loans I remember making something like 5% a month. Now the premiums went down a lot. So there is not much you can do with your Tether except just keep it in your cold storage and perhaps buy Bitcoin if it ever becomes cheap again like $20k or $15k even.

Here we got some banks that pay like $300 just by opening an account and getting your employement deposits with them. Most likely got a similar hold of 60-90 Days. I think the min balance is only like $3k however. Not $20K. Most people don’t have $20K laying around saved up these days.

it is the cash reserves of the four man partnership.

we will take ourselves out to a nice dinner.

next month.
