It was not a new exploit, some guy got access to over 51% of the mining capacity, and used it to double spend. Nothing new about that , all crypto coins face it, including btc. It's called a 51% Attack and Satoshi warned about them. The really stupid thing is ETC is now worth $2 more than before it was attacked. So investors really don't pay attention. In that case, a similar threat to Bitcoin is very insignificant. No single mining pool is having more than 20% hash-power and it is near impossible to get to 51% with BTC. But it may be possible to do that with some of the smaller coins, such as Litecoin and Novacoin. TOP 3 btc Mining pools are over 51%. So there would have to be collusion or coercion of those 3 pool operators to 51% attack btc. It would most likely be short lived, but very possible for any military power to accomplish. In comparison, 4 LTC pool operators would have to be compromised, so not much difference between the two. Kind of sobering actually, that only 3 individuals (pool operators) are all that stands between a successful short term 51% btc attack. Why would they do that? In case they manage a 51% attack against Bitcoin, then the currency will become worthless in a matter of few minutes. What they will do then? All their investment in to the mining rigs will be gone and everyone will be bankrupt.

As a public figure, this lawsuit would be extraordinarily difficult to win in the United States, but it could be filed in the UK, where libel cases are somewhat easier to win, though still difficult.
Perhaps he know that he has very little chance of a court victory. This move is to discourage other media outlets form publishing similar stories. Don't know how much the entire episode is going to cost him... but it looks like he may have to spend a few hundred grands.

I think they may even lose some matches against Bangladesh and Afghanistan if they manage any match with them (I have not looked at the fixer yet).
West Indies will play against Afghanistan, no chances against Bangladesh since both are in different group. Well, if we look at their current performanc, chances is they will lost against Afghanistan. I second your thoughts too. Different group? What are you talking about? There are no "groups" for this edition of the world cup. All the ten teams are going to play one match each against every other team. WI vs AFG on 4th July, while their match against BAN will be on 17th June.

Chris Gayle missed his century by just 1 run. Scored 99* from 64 balls. Can you believe that this guy went unsold during the first round auctions? Right now he is ranked #3 on the top run scorers for thus season, with 322 runs from 7 matches.

Duckworth Lewis method was invented after carefully analyzing the outcomes of thousands of matches. So I wouldn't say that the method was wrong. And I don't understand why you think that the UAE was ahead. Two set batsmen were playing when bad light stopped play (PJ Moor at 45, and Chakabva at 78), and at that point they needed 25 runs to win from 3 overs (with 6 wickets in hand).
Man! I also don't understand how does this D/L method works. I feel like they do a lot of unrealistic calculation. I can not give you specific examples but in lot of occasions I have seen the unfairness. It just do not add up with the real situation. My thinking is that why do we need a method to find a winner. Just leave it and declare abundant or an unfinished match. If you do not know what will be the outcome of the next ball (out or dot, single, double, two, three, four or six or possibly anything) then how do you calculate based on mathematics. The managements would face a ton of problems if the games were left abandoned or cancelled like money issues, fans getting disappointed etc which is why they rarely ever cancel matches unless absolutely necessary. D/L method is no way perfect as you mentioned, but it does the job majority of the time which it is a useful system overall. The method which we had earlier was even worse. I still remember the infamous match between South Africa and England during the 1992 world cup. South Africa was cruising to victory, and needed 22 off 13 balls. After 12 minutes of play was lost to rain, the target was revised as 21 runs off 1 ball.

Hmmm.. that is very interesting. Actually West Indies has lost against the minnows in the world cup on more than one occasion (obviously the 1996 loss against Kenya is the most famous incident). And at the same time, Afghanistan has built their reputation as the giant-killers in world cricket. There are 10 teams and in the group stage all the teams play against the other once. So WI will be playing against BAN and AFG.
Well the West Indian team before and now has a huge difference. Before the lose of West Indian team considered as upset but if they lose now then I do not think anyone will consider it as upset. It will considered as a regular win. West Indies management really needs to focus on their cricket reputation and use their previous glory to come back in the International race. I do remember the yesteryear West Indian teams which consisted of legends like Lara, Courtney Walsh, Curtley Ambrose etc who used to dominate their opponents in every way possible. The current West Indian team is simply a shadow of those amazing lineups. Even the current West Indian team has got a number of good players. If they put 100% in to their game, then they will be able to beat anyone. But first they need to put aside the personal differences and bond together as a team.

Is a good thing the market is coming back to a great state whereby many have abandoned interest in bitcoin, likely the newbies who weren't strong to endure the bear and Also some projects which have failed.
Those who were serious about Bitcoin never abandoned it. That said, some of the noobs who hoped to become billionaires overnight sold their coins at a loss and exited the scene. I would say that this is a blessing in disguise. If the less serious investors are gone, then the volatility will come down, and eventually it will attract more attention from the mainstream investors.

KKR v DC today , my chips are on KKR. They might have failed in the previous match against CSK but I am sure they will come back stronger today. Doesn't matter if they win or lose the toss according to me.
KKR 62/1 after 8 overs (despite Ishant Sharma picking a wicket off the very first ball). Surprisignly, the Capitals left out Sandeep Lamichhane and included Keemo Paul in the playing XI. Perhaps they wanted to strengthen their pace bowling department. But things are not going quite well, with Paul conceding 17 runs off his fist over.

Zimbabwe used to be a better team.
The racism, politics, mismanagement harmed this team. They used to have very bright future. If you compare Bangladesh team and Zimbabwe team then it will be more clear.
Have you remember 1997 ICC world cup qualification or a kind of tournament final between Zimbabwe vs Bangladesh? Bangladeshi team were so happy to beat them in the final as if it was like winning the world cup for them but now a days Bangladesh team beat Zimbabwe without having their main team.
Bangladesh got test status, they worked very hard to create cricketers and established them as a good cricket nation but on the other hand Zimbabwe team even do not have a good player who has a good ranking. It's a shame. The problem is that cricket was never a popular sport among the native African population in Zimbabwe. Almost all of their better players were whites. There are blacks playing cricket in Zimbabwe, but its popularity is much lower than that of football, athletics, basketball.etc. And after the land grabbing, the vast majority of the whites emigrated, leaving the cricketing infrastructure in shambles. In Bangladesh, the sport is very popular. And if I am not mistaken, cricket is the most popular sport in Bangladesh.

but why would china want to do so?
You can call me crazy, but I strongly believe that China has some ulterior motive regarding to this. Earlier also, statements from the Chinese government agencies have caused the crypto market to crash on multiple occasions. I would say that they are intentionally doing this, in order to crash the prices. They are not going to ban mining. It is just to crash the market.

A crypto trader from the Netherlands had been brutally tortured in front of his 4-year-old daughter, by 3 suspects disguised as police. The investigator suspected that the criminals stole some private keys, passwords that transferred the victim's fund to the suspect's wallet. How could the criminal know his a trader and identity, location? Could this be an inside job? More information here: Nowadays, the governments all around the world give very little respect for individual privacy. In many of the jurisdictions, Bitcoin traders are required to give details about their wallet balance and their weekly or monthly turnover. But the cops are claiming that in this case none of the crypto was stolen from the victim. So I guess the criminals were not that accustomed with crypto?

Considering I, my children, and possibly my children's children will be dead before the last BTC is mined, I for one find it pointless to be speculating about it... Another thing is that it may be too far-fetched to think that Bitcoin may survive for that long. It has survived for 10 years.. and it may survive for another 10-15 years. But in due course of time, Bitcoin will be eventually replaced by a better technology. I don't think that Bitcoin will survive until 2140, when Bitcoin mining is supposed to stop.

Just checked the status of Bitcoin in Philippines on Bitlegal, and everything looks good. The Philippines is one of the few countries in the Southeast Asian region, where status is given as "permissive". That said, I don't know why people use Bitcoin ATMs now. The markup is way too high, and it is always better to use online crypto-currency exchanges.

bitcoin mining has not been a CHINA thing for a couple years now.
will people stop living in propoganda past
You sure about that? China remains the leader in Bitcoin mining, as per the latest available data. Earlier this year, Jordan Tuwiner estimated that China contributes to 81% of the mining hash power. Just check the below image, and you'll see that the largest mining pools are all from China:

Just a few hours ago I had posted that I don't know whether this rally can be sustained or not. The current spike is not accompanied by solid basics. It is solely fueled by rumors. But as of now, it looks like the exchange rates will stabilize at 5K.
|
|
|
Even now, the crypto exchange rates can be influenced by rumors and assumptions. On top of that, many of the traders are quite young (in their 20s and 30s), and they don't shy away from taking risky moves.

One of my friends made a great deal of profit from forex trading (GBP-USD pair) during the Brexit referendum. But it is extremely risky, and forex trading is not 100% legal in many of the countries and territories.

Till now I have taken part in at least a dozen different signature bounty campaigns, and at least 100 Facebook bounty campaigns. The only bounty that paid me significant reward was the Mozo bounty (I received around $60 worth of tokens). The vast majority of the remaining turned out to be scams and for the few that paid, the reward was so low that I didn't bothered to sell them in the exchanges.
