The world cup tournaments are always exciting to watch. I am expecting Australia to get eliminated during the quarters.

They did play well recently, but this current team is not as strong as the previous Ozzy teams which is why I am pretty confident that they won't lift the cup this year.

I doubt that they will get eliminated during the quarters. In my opinion they are hot favourite to play the final. It's true that this team is not near the team they had before but if we compare the current strength (which is not 100% accurate and subjective by the way) then this Australian team is better then anyone else.

May be, India and England are the two teams who can fight against them.

I don't think righting off Australia is good decision because now they are doing very good and they already won last 8 ODI's away from home they can won and enjoy next 4 years as champion right now we have 3 good and equal sides Australia England and India about fourth its tough as many going and can kill on game day.

I agree mate, I think the fourth is either New Zealand or South Africa but I think I would put South Africa just ahead of New Zealand on current form in ODI matches. There is no doubt that the winner in my mind will come from either of these top 5 teams, there may be a surprise from say Sri Lanka, Pakistan and maybe even Bangladesh but I can't see them winning the World Cup.

There is another team which i would like to mention here, West Indies with the new management might resolve the issues with the players they had and if that happens before the world cup they will have a strong team with some power hitters and they could upset some top teams if they click as a unit and with Gayle opening and with Pollard and Andre Russel they will have a very strong power hitters that could change any match.
South Africa and New Zealand could be in the semis, things are getting interesting nearing the world cup.

The problem with West Indies is that their players perform very poorly when playing for the national side. They will always be on top of their form while representing various franchises in the IPL, BBL, BPL.etc. But while playing for the national side, there is hardly any team spirit and co-ordination.

Yes I agree with you about the WI as they have shown in recent matches against England that they can match it with the best in ODI matches and they also have some good young talented players that could rise to the occasion on the biggest stage of them all the World Cup. Its going to be an interesting tournament that's for sure.

Hey while the tournament is yet to start I can sense the excitement for it on the forum already, as for the upsets is concerned it’s difficult to say if big teams will avoid upsets or not. I remember the World Cup of 2007 lost huge bets because of those upsets, hence this time will be playing wisely. Also I feel the teams that can cause upsets are Afghanistan, West Indies ans Srilanka these three can surprise the top teams.

Yeah, there are lots of excitement among the cricket fans, including Bookies too and not to mention some fixtures like Ind Vs Pak match tickets already sold out and skyrocketing in the black market.

I am not expecting a very big upset in this world cup (top team getting out) because there is no Group system in this edition. every team will play 9 matches with each team so its highly unlikely that top teams failing in the row unless they somehow forget how to play . I think that during the tournament run rate, the winning margin can come in gameplay when teams competing for top 4 spots.

Still there is some uncertainty regarding that match. Recently, India and Pakistan were at the brink of war and the public opinion in India is against playing this match. There is a good chance that India will refuse to play, and forfeit the points to Pakistan.

I did not notice that. Just checked in cricinfo. It's a 4 ODI series if I am not wrong. And the first one is in progress. After losing the toss United Arab Emirates gone for batting and only managed to score 110 runs LOL

I think Zimbabwe will win the series easily.

Zimbabwe won the toss and took bowling, UAE got all out for 110, showing very poor performance, Zimbabwe batting good 45/1 in 14 overs, if this is the way it goes then zimbabwe will win this serious easily. But in this type of series you can not say some time from winning side they lose the match also.

Zimbabwe will win this series easily, but that is not going to anything to improve their reputation. They failed to qualify for the world cup, and their performance against the top teams remain abysmal. I am pessimistic about the future of Zimbabwean cricket.

Its boring right now without any international cricket being played except for the Zimbabwe and UAE ODI series which doesn't interest me that much as both teams are poor. The sad thing is that Zimbabwe are become one of the worst teams in cricket and not sure if they have a future playing against the top ranked teams.

I can remember some of the old popular players from Zimbabwe like Grant Flower etc from the top of my head. I completely forgot about this team since it is not worth mentioning anymore.

Ireland and Afghanistan have emerged as much better teams in comparison.

The problem is that cricket was never a popular sport among the native African population in Zimbabwe. Almost all of their better players were whites. I think you have a point. I never know about the popularity of the sport in Zimbabwe. If it's not playing by the average people then the chances are very low to do better.

About Bangladesh, I assume they have the same craze like India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka has.  After all they are one of the South Asian country.
