741  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Who thinks Bitcoin will HardFork back to GPU only mining Algorithms? on: May 31, 2016, 04:08:44 PM
Not happening.

I would agree, as I think there are a lot of powerful people that will not want the change.  To get a good majority of people to go for hardfork I think will be something just out of reach.

And I think ultimately it would be for not as most are "asic resistant" not proof.  So likely if there is big money there we just start process over where it moves to GPU's and eventually asics would pop up or whatever algo it is using.

actually chinese miners have also big gpu farm, so they would still remain competitive in the remote case this will ever happen

and probably they would still helds 70% of the network, since in many place cost of electricity is a huge deterrent, and gpu are not that efficient yet

I mentioned this above to the places with low electricity still have that advantage even if switched to GPU (which I don't see happening).

....
I think getting any change honestly is going to be hard.   Even if it switched mining to say GPU's I think there would be big mega mines in same places asics are in... so it would not fix any problems long term I don't think.

Coindesk has a good article of one of these mines - http://www.coindesk.com/bitcoin-miners-ethereum/
742  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: $10,000-15,000 rig on: May 31, 2016, 04:05:12 PM

Interesting to see if they truly have a  new machine.  Should it not be A4 instead of "New A2" if truly the new one?   I can't seem to get LKETC to come up do they have a new website?

I would want to get alot more info before buying there.   Also it does not mine Ether, the new altcoin that seems to be gaining a following.
743  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: No Mining = End of Bitcoin? on: May 31, 2016, 04:00:21 PM
..full above
We will reach a point where there are very few miners operating and their sole opportunity for profit will come through transaction fees.  As Bitcoin becomes more centralized in the hands of a few miners and almost all transactions flowing through mining farms in China, the prospect of a Bitcoin mining monopoly looms larger and larger.

So what do you think is likely to happen to transaction fees at that point?

Honestly it's so far away no one can give a good speculation.   The hopes is that the fees make it where miners still profit.  But we don't even know what value and difficulty will be at the having coming up.  So going that far in future... just all guesses.

I'm sure some will try to speculate, but I just don't think it can be done accurately that far.
744  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Diff thread May 24 to June 6? picks are open!!.... prize = 0.10 btc on: May 31, 2016, 03:56:59 PM

Will be interesting to see what the S9 does, they did to a heck of a job it seems from specs listed.  S7 Power Efficiency: 0.25 J/GH + 10% (at the wall, with APW3, 93% efficiency, 25°C ambient temp) to S9 3. Power Efficiency: 0.098 J/GH + 7%(at the wall, with APW3 93% efficiency, 25°C ambient temp)

And it will be shipping out before having with June 12.  Definitely interesting times to come.
745  Other / Meta / Re: Locked my account on: May 31, 2016, 12:16:47 AM
There really is only one way you can recover your account, pm theymos and badbear about the situation and make sure you provide a signed message from an address linked with the binmon account to prove ownership. After a few months you will get a response. Yes, months

omg, I'm too old to wait months, lol

and I probably did not do "a signed message..."  because I don't know what you mean...but I appreciate your trying to help!!

Thank you!

Signed message is best everyone should stake an address.  If you did not do it did you do any deals on forum where you happened to post a bitcoin address?  If so sign a message with that address and point to it.

Staking is best though due to someone quoting it next, so a "bad guy" cant change it.  But that does not really apply in this case.
746  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: What PSU on: May 31, 2016, 12:12:58 AM
Can any one tell me what type of PSU i should use for an S7

also what server psu

Thanks in advance .

would be great whit links also

The easiest option in my opinion is using a Bitmain APW3-12-1600.  I have owned multiple and no issues so far, they were designed with the S7 in mind.  https://bitmaintech.com/productDetail.htm?pid=000201505040743496917U7kGsCm0694

But you do need 205+ Volts to run it properly " The PSU cannot be used in countries with a mains power voltage lower than 205V. The PSU will not start below this voltage. And power cord is not included, please find one with at least 16A from your local market. ".
747  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: New AntMiner S3+ Not Mining. on: May 31, 2016, 12:09:34 AM
Ok. So, I've had some experience with bitcoin mining, currently running a ASICMiner Block Erupter USB in the background. But, I just can't seem to get my AntMiner S3+ to mine! I tried changing the protocol to DHCP, but it just gets hung up. I even tried changing pools to slush, then F2Pool, then GHash, but whatever I do, the fans don't start kicking up, and it does not mine. I think part of the problem might be that the AntMiner is plugged into this laptop VIA Ethernet, and not into the router, but I can't get the IP to load in the router. HELP!

You should be able to get S3 in same IP range of router and it should connect, or use DHCP and it grabs from most routers.   I would look at this more instead of using laptop.   You would need to turn on connection sharing with right settings (assuming windows) to be able to plug in ethernet and get connection via wireless.

But again I would work on IP.  Can you share a picture of network settings on S3+?  And also what range of IP addresses does your router use?
748  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: PSU cables Y splitters are burning hot. Should I be concerned? on: May 31, 2016, 12:05:54 AM
Hello all,

I'm running an s7 with 2 HP DPS-1200FB PSU's with one of them having 2 pci-e 6pin Y splitter to supply 2 hashing boards. The problem I'm having is cables at the Y splitter connection is really hot to the point I can't touch for more than 5 secs. I recently moved my miner to a cooler location, but this is the first time I'm noticing this problem. I've been running my miner for 3 months without any problems and it's working fine, but I'm still concerned. The cables are rated 16AWG.

Thanks,

Yes if they are "PSU cables Y splitters are burning hot" UNPLUG THEM.   When playing with electricity there bad things that can happen if wires heat up, leading up to and including fire.

Do you have more info on your Y-splitter?  Some are horrible and not up to mining and it sounds like yours likely fits in with these.
749  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: what happens when f2pool and antminer merge? on: May 31, 2016, 12:01:29 AM
I think both pools are really owned by same people, but have different operator/manager.

What would make you think this?  They are very different pools really just look up payout.  One does merged mining and shares transaction fee's, other has a lower PPS percentage option.  So there are some differences.

I don't think they are owned by same people unless you know something everyone else dosent.
750  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Hands On] Bitmain AntMiner S7 One Fan (S7-F1) - Notlist3d on: May 30, 2016, 11:34:08 PM

So overall with the price difference will you continue purchasing from the US location?
How much more was the purchase from the US site versus the Factory site in China at the time you made it?

I assume you own or have owned both dual and now the single fan unit. Which would you purchase today if you were buying and both were available? Please elaborate regarding your decision.

On location it really depends what your looking for you can look up price differences currently: https://bitmainwarranty.com/product-category/products/ vs https://bitmaintech.com/product.htm.  It really depends on what your looking for on which is best for you to order.  With BitmainWarranty those in US wanting very quick shipments they are great at.  Also with warranty I have to admit having a number instead of email is very nice.  Just like being able order up to 90 extra day's for warranty.  But you are right price is higher so each person has to decide what is important to them.

One thing I did learn with purchase is if I have any gear out of warranty time and I need a repair, I likely will be contacting BitmainWarranty for repair.  They are able to do repairs so with being in US this likely is quicker and cheaper shipping for me instead of sending to China.  So depends on your location on which is best for you.

I have had both S7 and S7-F1 and not had a problem with either.   The S7-F1 with one fan and extra RPM has ran fine for me,  so far it's ran straight for over 1/2 month with no issues.  So I likely would buy which ever S7 is best deal price wise and not worry personally if it is the 1 or 2 fan version.
751  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: The Chinese Mining Cartel on: May 30, 2016, 11:14:56 PM
Im waiting for the day when everyone realizes that you cannot have a decentralized "anything" unless we all have access to the same resources.  This experiment will never be decentralized no matter how much we want to will it so..   Its only a matter of time b 4 china runs all the networks of crypto coins since they have the cheapest resources of the entire globe.  Chew on that for a while.

Best Regards
d57heinz

They will be king of asics.  I can not see them failing to keep the lead in asics.

GPU mining is complex since gpus are in demand for many tasks. I can't see them doing a full takeover in gpu mining.

If there is enough money they will follow.  I agree they will remain asic kings for most part, just hard to beat the electricity pricce.    But I also think some will jump to GPU aswell coindesk has a article showing one decent sized GPU mine - http://www.coindesk.com/bitcoin-miners-ethereum/

So I do think we will see some expansion of GPU mining for ether in China and other places asics currently are at.  Ether just keeps going up in difficulty - https://etherscan.io/charts/difficulty
752  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: No Mining = End of Bitcoin? on: May 30, 2016, 11:10:32 PM
I think if mining stopped, bitcoin would still be going, just no more would be generated.

Transactions would stop if there were no miners.

But there are people who will never stop mining...  so this will not happen.  Even worst case bitcoin failed and most left it there would be some who run a machine for fun.  So you still would have miners.

I don't think there is any realistic thing that will happen where no miners is a realistic option.   So future where no blocks are solved is just not going to happen.
753  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Diff thread May 24 to June 6? picks are closed!!.... prize = 0.10 btc on: May 30, 2016, 11:06:45 PM
Bitwisdom has a negative now which is nice to see:

Bitcoin Difficulty:    199,312,067,531
Estimated Next Difficulty:    199,071,301,007 (-0.12%)
Adjust time:    After 1173 Blocks, About 8.4 days
Hashrate(?):    1,423,370,617 GH/s

And value is around 533, so still holding most of the value of the jump up.   So looking pretty good as far as this difficulty period goes.
754  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Message To Beginners: Do not use Secret Question to reset account - It locks it on: May 30, 2016, 03:51:51 AM
Kinda a monthly PSA of this.  Again has slowed down a lot which is good.  But sadly people are still using security questions to unlock accounts - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1490756.0

For anyone new or if anyone has not read it DO not reset via security question on password, or it will lock account.
755  Other / Meta / Re: Locked my account on: May 30, 2016, 03:48:46 AM
I was not aware that trying your password too many times would ban your account. Is this true?

Vegas
If I had to guess then I would say that the OP probably clicked on "forgot password" and attempted to reset his PW via his security question.

The OP will most likely need to provide a signed message from an address associated with his account to get it back. In the meantime he is free to make another account and/or use another account and use it freely. (this is assuming that the reason for his ban was in fact because he reset his PW and not because he broke some other rule)

It appears that is true - https://bitcointalk.org/seclog.php :
May 29, 2016, 08:30:17 PM - binmon - password reset via secret question
May 29, 2016, 08:30:17 PM - binmon - password reset via secret question

Sadly no matter what it seems cant get info to all people don't use secret question to reset or you will get account security locked.  Which then takes a admin to unlock it.
756  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Diff thread May 24 to June 6? picks are closed!!.... prize = 0.10 btc on: May 30, 2016, 03:39:23 AM
Value is just amazing hitting 540 + on coinbase, and it was not that long ago we were sitting in 440's.  So heck of a uptick in  value.  So it was suprising to see for sure, also surprising is difficulty is staying pretty reasonable.

I keep thinking we will see some gear come online seeing this.  But so far nothing big it seems.

they need to sell the s-7s.

so price will stay over 500 and diff will keep low.

once s-7's are sold  the shit should hit the fan.

I am not sure what they will do about selling the s-9.

My thoughts are they will delay the sale of the s-9 as long as the can.

Just mine with it.

the diff ,the price ,the ½ ing   all factor in.

Sadly we lost a little going to around 531 currently on coinbase.  So still a heck of a bump though.   One thing is Bitmain is not only company, so we might see others with next gen first.  There is a post with some new BW chips - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1487358.0

If those chips hit target.... we could be seeing some hardware added sooner I would guess.  But hard to speculate not much info on chips.
757  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Which is the best trusted website to earn btc? on: May 29, 2016, 09:00:08 PM
I am new here and every thing here is new for me. Can anyone help me to know which are the best trusted websites through which i can earn btc quickly?

We know there are two ways to earn bitcoin, free and not free.
if you ask for free site, I suggest to earn bitcoin in faucetbox. This site reliable and proven pay.
if you ask for not free site,  I suggest to do trading bitcoin or altcoin. With it you will be able to earn bitcoin, sites that I normally use is http://poloniex.com/

Faucets are so small of pay it honestly is not worth it, you are talking hours of work for cents of pay.  It is literally that bad, I wish it was a great way to make money but it just is not.   And if your paying electricity decent chance you spend more on your computers  electricity then you make on a faucet.

Also altcoins can be risky, high risk and high reward.  Also look at BTC those holding it in past week chances are have done better then most altcoins, so your kinda giving up your safety going to a altcoin on value.  BTC has went up like crazy right now.
758  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie Campaign Help!!! on: May 29, 2016, 08:53:51 PM
Is there a chance for newbie to join a signature campaign?  Cry
No. No signature campaigns accept newbies. If you rank up a little, you could join YoBit, but I would highly recommend that you don't. YoBit has a low reputation and participants in their campaign are known to be spammers. By joining that campaign, you mark yourself as someone who may be spamming and thus increase the likelihood of a ban.

If you choose to join a signature campaign, please post with good quality. Read all of the stickies in every section you want to post in to learn the rules of that section. You should also read the stickies in Meta because those apply to the entire forum. If you break any of the rules, your post will be deleted and you be banned.

To post with good quality, do not simply just repeat what others have said in the thread before you. Read the thread before you post; what you want to say may have already been said. The OP may have moved on from the original topic and the topic of the thread may have turned to something else. Always think before you post. If you are posting just to boost your post count, don't post. If you have no idea what the thread is about, don't post. If you are posting in a thread with pages and pages and pages of replies, don't post if you don't want to read the whole thing.

If you do as I said above, the likelihood of getting your posts deleted and being banned decreases.

I would agree with not jumping into signature campaign.  Some people think it's great free money want to jump right in.  You really don't see much till around full member.  So you can use time before then to learn and not lose much as far as earnings.

So I would learn about the forum, and specifically make posts that are constructive and help others.  It looks like you already jumped into one OP.   I would warn about posts like you did below:

Real Marrid 1-0 Atletico Marrid Grin BTCBTCBTCBTC

One liners like that with a signature on your account is a quick way to get banned for insubstantial post.
Sorry for that! I'm just a fan of RM. Not trying to spam. I'll be careful Sad

That thread was deleted do to I really suggest other's to wait to learn how to make good posts that are constructive.   OP did another one:

Wow. Thanks alot  Grin

Doing many posts like this with a signature is a quick way to a ban.    It is called insubstantial posts offically.
759  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Help transfering BTC to Paypal on: May 29, 2016, 08:37:17 PM
Hey all.

What is the safest and fastest way to transfer BTC from my wallet to my Paypal account so that it reflects as dollars?

Thanks in advance

Hey, in my knowledge there is no way bitcoin transfer to paypal or paypal to bitcoin. But there are other ways to move your bitcoin balance to paypal, by buying paypal with bitcoin. sites that I uses is https://localbitcoins.com/

It is due to paypal not supporting BTC as a payment method.  So you would rely on a 3rd party to get it there.  I HIGHLY advise avoiding this as using another person is very risky.

What scares so many off is person who buy's your BTC with paypal can get the BTC then open a claim.  They can say you did not send it, or there acount was compromised, etc.  And sadly in most cases the scammer will win in paypal.  I highly recommend finding a good exchange, really we need to know your country to help on that.
760  Other / Meta / Re: Lost The Password of My Account! on: May 29, 2016, 08:32:37 PM
Thanks everyone . I just formatted my mobile device too lol and almost lost my account but thank god i had email in my account.  I just used reset through email and received the email from bitcointalk and my account paswords is resetted now using it .

Glad to hear it worked.   I would highly recommend people to use real emails they have access to for this reason, if you use a fake it takes away this way to get your account reset.

Also if you have not yet OP you might stake a BTC address that is kinda last option type thing.  But staking a address with your account is something everyone should do.
