I'm thinking the same. justified by " I had to do it myself so you shall too! " profit > community That's an unfair statement, the guide is already simple to follow. I would like to help people to setup their mn but I don't have enough free time, it's already an hassle to maintain mine. And I always take some time to answer to the best of my knowledge some questions about the coin.

https://darkcointalk.org/threads/coinjoin-in-bitcoin-and-darksend.560/I'd like to ask this here too. I'm confused now. I first heard that bitcoin also has coinjoin added to it, so I wanted to know what makes darksend special. Then Propulsion pointed out that it relies on single server that can be compromised. Then I heard that also darkcoin's coinjoin "also relies on few nodes that are marked to the code so the same argument applies to it" (not sure if this is said right, I translated it from finnish). The source is horrible (an imageboard) but I'd like to know if all this is true. The masternodes are owned by different users, on different servers, in different countries. The process is such that a single person or a single entity can't possess all the knowledge, unless it owns every masternodes, not the majority, everything. But then it would be pointless, since it would have to possess all coins (expensive) to track its own transactions. That's the decentralization by Darkcoin I was told in my earpiece that there is more to come.

Thanks for the link. I assume we can set up a masternode at any time in the future, correct? I'd like to wait until all the bugs are worked out, and a baby level how-to guide is out there for people like me. I just wish I had more than 1000 coins to play with now... I think I have, umm... 1025 ... not exactly a ton. Yes

I have a question about that node/1000 thingy, which I haven't kept track of very closely. Basically if users set up their own nodes, they get a portion of mining profits? Or something like that?
I have a tiny bit above 1000 coins right now.
What I am wondering about is, is it worth just keeping 1000 coins for the rewards, or if the price goes crazy, sell some to go below 1000, just to take profit? I don't mean at current prices, but say it doubled or something in a short time period?
I was thinking of keeping 500, playing with the other 500... just want to check and make sure that the 1000/node thing wouldn't trump this, and I should just keep the 1000 regardless.
1000 regardless of price. Well, my question is, what are the masternode benefits exactly? Again, apologies, as I am sure it's mentioned in this thread, but I haven't kept track of masternode talk. https://darkcointalk.org/threads/darkcoin-update-masternode-requirements-masternode-payments.225/In short : Earn a passive income by helping the anonymization process.

It's going to be really impressive when a masternode costs $10 000
What about $1000 * 1000 EDIT : No better, €1000 * 1000

So go back to bitcoin why do you care ? Are you afraid of that coin or something? Your arguments are at best retarded.

I don't think the Evan has posted the info yet, but he has figured out how to make Darkcoin completely impossible to trace!! We are not giving out the complete details on it yet, but "I" wanted to give everyone a heads up about a new feature that will be a very big improvement!!! I'm sure there will be people, trolls, that will say this is not possible, but when you get the details even the trolls will have to agree.
Look for the details coming out soon!
Thinking about buying more now... "Darkcoin completely impossible to trace" wut? If... what? ok, buying more cya InternetApe is a bit excitable, maybe eduffield was just winding him up... Last night Evan talked about some secret projects

Maybe it will continue to rise exponentially, so be careful with that strategy.

What assurances do we have that the stratum exploit(s) isn't being used ? How is a noob to know ? lmao
As for my X11 asic theory... its only code.
What stratum exploit(s) be specific. Like the one corrected by DGW Months ago ? Step 1 : Throw some affirmations without proof. Step 2 : Ask for proof that those affirmations are unfounded. Troll 101

Woe, I hit a block wall of drama.... something about closed source, parts that have to do with mining, not mixing....
Anyway, who are you and what do you want? Are you promoting another coin on our thread? If so, that's bad form, IMO. I doubt you'd see Evan promoting on other threads, sure he'd answer questions, but no promo / FUD ever!
Huh? Everything is open source. Who am I? This is bizarrely defensive. I've been on this thread since early February and am a DRK holder/miner. Some people may recognize me, but I don't see what that has to do with anything. Anonymity and ring signatures were being discussed so I clarified some things. (I'm not that other guy ac2 if you haven't noticed). I recognize you Everybody is tense, too much trolls like vultures

Yes you are a troll, with the basic "I give you some free advice because I care about you" attitude. I'm flattered that you dedicate such a large part of your small post count to enlighten us. /sarcasm

Where is all this hashpower coming from ? Stratum exploit ? Asics ? Not so secret sgminer settings ? Botnets ? lol http://www.drkpool.com/And ? You find those hashrates exceptional ? Not me... Some GPU farms which used to mine Litecoin are mining Darkcoin now.

Buyer beware. Well no....buyer will do ok. User beware, your transactions are not anonymous
Your premise is that it's easy to buy the DRKs. However this goes contrary to market operation, in that escalating demand makes the price to skyrocket disproportionately as the available supply diminishes. Ie the first one million DRKs you can purchase for, say, $3 per coin making you a bill of 3m usd. The second million coins will cost way more, like $30 (30mn usd). The third million will cost 300$ per coin to gather from 50% to 75% of the coins and that's at 300mn usd for that million. The last 25% will be in the billions in terms of price. And then you have to buy the daily supply of, say, 7000 coins x 1000 usd each = 7mn per day... And if you do that, then you have to do that also to every coin having DarkSend implemented. So every coin that launches (or implements) DarkSend will be a quick target for NSA acquisition, so it's a guaranteed price success, so new clone coins would be guaranteed sell-offs to the NSA which will be, in a sense, turned to cryptoland's cashcow which we we will be gladly milking as we sell our DarkSend enabled coins and mine new ones etc. And the NSA will do that, while, as you say, there is cryptonote out there, or zerocoin tech etc etc. From a game theory perspective, they'll have to find another vector. This would be too costly with too little reward, even for their budget - primarily because it's a never-ending game. Trolls don't bother with facts. If he replies to your post I bet that he will say the same thing again.

We must buy some Asia Coins instead ? That smell like trolling, you came here with some agenda.

I'm a big believer in darkcoin... and I am shorting at .0051
and buying back at .0071? +1 And please stop throwing the word "pump" left and right. Not all rises are pumps.

I want to set up a masternode as well. It looks like a majority are set up at Amazon and in the US. Where should I set it up to benefit the network/coin the most? Or does that not matter?
Outside the US would already be great. Masternode location shouldnt matter at all. If you initialize a Darksend transaction from China to Brazil, the masternode location is irrelevant. The voting system is not based on geo-/ip-information (i hope). It's to bring some diversity to the network. What if Amazon has a problem and all its servers are down ? What if the servers in a specific country are shutdown ? The probability is very low but the risk exists and it must be taken into account for the safety of the network IMO.

For example, if you want to send 1 DRK, send successively 0.34 DRK, 0.33 DRK and 0.33 DRK to make 3 transactions using DarkSend.
I understand... I did exactly as you said. But somehow I get those errors, as mentioned before, again. You do this when you see "waiting for more entries" ? Yes. But I guess I forgot that I need at least 3 x 10 DRK in my wallet to do that... I only have about 15.. so will try it again with more DRKs in that wallet and report back. Thanks Kai. Finally it worked like a charm! Cool !
