The building was on fire, the house didn't burn down is thanks to "URGENT", "EMERGENCY" measures and prompt response by the firefighters. (Devs and pool ops).
The actions of the dev team were spectacular... the discourse was a bit hyped. I hope it has not escaped your attention that Bitcointalk Forum is a wretched hive of scum and villainy.

1) Perhaps in the future devs should abstain from using words like EMERGENCY... URGENT... and so on. This is one of those times when less is more. A simple message saying users don't move your coins for a little while, miners revert to 0.7 until the blockchain catches up would have been enough.

Why don't they just hit the PAUSE button on all trades? lol
<MagicalTux> [10:21:45] <defunctzombie> MagicalTux: any thoughts on a trading pause on this? <- considered it, but it doesn't make much difference

Man, I put like 5 bitcoins on "bitcoin won't have a $5 daily drop before march 15". Not liking my odds now I'd take you up on that bet, but looks like Bets of Bitcoin is down. http://isup.me/betsofbitco.in

yes major lag (3 mins now) on mtgox impossible to know if its crashing or not
What do you think? Critical: Current Bitcoin network fork. Action needed by mining pools. Merchants should hold transactions.

Let's see how cocky bulls will be in the following minutes and hours. If you're a bull after this you are mentally challenged. And there it goes.. Still holding anyway. I want to believe. Somebody is trying pretty valiantly to hold $44 There she goes...

not a joke, check #bitcoin-dev, also: CAlert( nVersion = 1 nRelayUntil = 1363051236 nExpiration = 1363064736 nID = 1030 nCancel = 1001 setCancel = nMinVer = 70001 nMaxVer = 70001 setSubVer = "Satoshi/0.8.0/" nPriority = 5000 strComment = "" strStatusBar = "URGENT: chain fork, stop mining on version 0.8" )

My price prediction for very soon: below $20. Bitcoin is currently experiencing the biggest technical problem that it has had since 2010. There is a hard fork situation, a bug in 0.8. It will be solved in a few hours but this is such a massive reliability hit.
Accepting bitcoins for anything at this moment is risking a double spend.
Omg wtf, link please?

Half expecting the airline to accidentally that bag to the wrong country.
seems like a valid reason for another delay. Where can I bet on this? Zerohedge reports InTrade is suddenly out of business, closed for legal reasons. Golden opportunity here for a bitcoin-based prediction market . Right place, meet right time. http://betsofbitco.in/item?id=953

What a shame, pray this verdict will serve to deter those who would do the same.
Get a scammer tag on here in exchange for becoming filthy rich? Where is the deterrence? Yes. Exactly. Where indeed?

I said it was a scam as well, but forum moderator "psy" saw it fit to delete my post. Seems to go in line with this forums policy to protect and promote scans.
Funny how the whole libertarian freedom thing goes out the window once you go against the moderator's personal veiws.
BFL will eventually deliver. They are merely (very) late, not a scam. Know what, even if they deliver, tomorrow, they're still a fat fucking scam... Let's imagine that...
In June I promise to sell you a tasty slab of pork belly for a dollar up front, to be delivered when the pigs are slaughtered in October.
In August I buy a pig-farm and hire some workers. In October I promise to deliver in November. In November I promise to deliver in December. In December I promise to deliver in January. In January I promise to deliver in February. In February I promise to deliver in March...
You start having second thoughts about this.
The law clearly states that you can get your money back.
Well, I say you can't.
Conveniently, I'm the one who has your money.
I decide that if you're sufficiently annoying, it's easier for me to just give your money back, but you can only have half, one third, one fourth, one eighth of it.
Where do you think the money for the pig farm came from?
I've got you trapped now, you can't have your money and you cant have your pork.
Cheap tasty pork bellies start arriving from China. And your stomach makes very hungry noises.
I assure you that at some time in next two weeks you will get your pork belly.
I've told you so six times before. Each time it has been a lie. (I need time to get production up and running.)
You discover that I've scammed people like you for many years and have gone to jail for doing so.
Finally, I give you a slice of bacon.
Am I not a scammer?
Perhaps you do not know their history as a successful FPGA vendor.
Hilarious.

I scammer-tagged him.
Theymos, what will you be doing with your piece of the pie? (I.e. the revenue from the bASIC-scam adverts on this forum.) How much did he spend on advertising here anyway? Probably makes zero difference to him. He's done with this board - he's a millionaire now.
What a shame, pray this verdict will serve to deter those who would do the same.

Cool. Dvorak is to computers what Proudhon is to bitcoin speculation.
Really? Lol. Is that why or because we mostly use qwerty keyboards? Different Dvorak.
