At $800 I'd be a buyer. Maybe even at $999 just to try it out. At $1,999 I will sit back and politely wave goodbye to everyone's money.
I was even thinking at $1200 as I have a PSU sitting here perfect for it. I just wanted to mine scrypt again. That is kinda my go wild and know good chance I did it for fun and not ROI. I just miss scrypt mining so it has a draw to me. I started in the GPU day's so that is a lot of the draw. The zoomhash of $2000 is just price gauging the few crazy enough to pay it.

This must have been asked before but I can't find an answer.
SCENARIO: It takes ten minutes to add a new block of data to the blockchain. Larry has one bitcoin. He goes to the mall and within one ten minute period between blocks:
1) Larry spends most of his bitcoin at a computer store. 2) Larry runs next door to a jewelry store, where he again spends most of his bitcoin.
Obviously this can't happen. What is the mechanism that prevents double spending within the ten minutes between blocks?
Thanks.
Conformations are there to prevent this. That is why you wait to see conformations before sending items/codes/etc. Like Bitmain I think 3 conformations they wait on before it shows paid in their payment if I'm not mistaken. Are you really a AlphaGammaDelta? I had to look it up was one i was unfamiliar with

This isn't exactly a mining question, as I know that these days you need and ASIC for that. However, I'm trying to figure out some stuff about hardware and I think you guys can answer some questions that I'm a little confused about. I was looking at this ASUS chromebox which has an i3-4010U processor (with some kind of onboard HD 4400 graphics). I've sen online that you can remove some screw and then flash whatever system you want, so I'd be running debian on it. What I'm trying to figure out is if this kind of machine could run openCL stuff, like, for example, vanitygen-ocl. In the past I had an ASUS zenbook which supposedly had an Intel HD gpu, but I couldn't actually use the GPU for gpu mining or OCL because apparantely it' wasn't the same thing as the "standalone" graphics card. Is that coing to be the same deal on this chromebox? Thanks for the insight, hardware gurus! The GPU is the important part in the openCL things. This is some stock junk intel. No it will not be great for mining or vanitygen. Look into real desktops if you really need to do this kinda thing. But it's hard to justify the GPU cost unless your a gamer or something and this is just on the side.

I heard many people got scammed by borrower in BTCJam & BTCJam never helps in any way I've also heard a lender got scammer by borrower which has A+ rating I think bitcoin or anything decentralized based lending won't work I think it's a compounding problem. The more people see that defaulting and how hard it is for someone to recover it the more future defaults happen. It spreads like a plague. And with people loaning to people all over the world it's hard legally. If loaning I would stick to same country so you can get a lawyer at decent rate, add international and most I'm guessing cost more then what you would recover. But even in same country people seem to default, they don't seem to care they will sell their online reputation for X btc. It's sad but I think it's going to take BTCJam to take a active role to fix it. They need to have a new department with proper lawyers to help on defaults. Right now they just give you info and say hope it goes well!

This thread is dying! The community really seems to be shunning this miner. Lol.
well lets see I finally can get one for 1999. Of course for 1999 I can get 20 s-3 with psu's . that is about 9th to 10th instead of 1.7th. I know I need cheap power if I get s-3's but in order for me to ever pay off this dual miner at a price of 1999 I need cheap power. So lets see 10th at 6 cent power or 1.7th at 6 cent power. both cost 2k what do you think stands a chance of paying back. I know I would take the s-3's It's a shame to see it at that price. I honestly want one and am willing to pay a fair price. But 2k is just insane. I'm hoping once they get into more production we will see direct sales for cheaper. Zoomhash will sell them I'm willing to bet sadly at this jacked up price to a few people. Sad to see it go that way.

Are not 21 chips available yet ? I can see 21 inc is becoming a major pool in short time.
As far as I know no public miners are using them. Have we even seen a data center for them? I don't think I've seen the inside of one of theirs but I could be mistaken on that.

Bitwisdom keeps going up:
Bitcoin Difficulty: 52,278,304,846 Estimated Next Difficulty: 54,421,442,587 (+4.10%) Adjust time: After 1309 Blocks, About 8.8 days Hashrate(?): 374,220,208 GH/s

These diff numbers above do not make a lot of sense. Look below http://btc.blockr.io/charts7 25 2015------- 146 +2 +2 7 26 2015------- 146 +2 +4 7 27 2015------- 154 +10 +14 7 28 2015------- 139 -5 +9 7 29 2015------- 145 +1 +10 we have 1293 blocks to go so we made 723 we are + 10 so 723/713 = ( +1.40% ) this is not close to the prediction above from bitcoinwisdom of (4.10%).I not sure why the real number and the predicted number are this far apart. Interesting thanks phil for your amazing data as always. I will be extremely happy if bitwisdom is broken/not close in this case. I like your real numbers much better. Bitwisdom seemed high compared to what we had been getting in past weeks so guess we will see.

you can do anything to earn bitcoin. here signature is the best, then some freelancing always is good to have something to work if you want to talk go for some chats that pays like ( https://coinchat.org/) or try faucets. everything has good and bad sides you pick something. I agree that everything has its pros and cons. CoinChat looks like one of the more enjoyable ways to earn Bitcoin. Another enjoyable way is to play Minecraft. https://bitquest.co/ is a server " with a Bitcoin-denominated economy: Players can buy, sell and trade items using BTC micropayments with a fully funcional Bitcoin wallet you can send money to/from". https://www.playmc.com/ is another Minecraft one. They're pretty fascinating, so check them out if people are interested. you're right about minecraft. but coinchat is no longer enjoyable because there are too few users there. the most online users I've seen is 20. that site used to be so much fun. I remember coinchat from when it launched. was a great experience, until TF went full scam mode. I remembering trying coinchat. I was unlucky as I never made anything off of it I don't think. But I remember at launch they did a decent give away it seems like. That has been a WHILE back though.

Just use the exchange for trading if you need it or if you have a good time to buy or to sell..after you do the transaction then send your btc to your own wallet not save in the excange it is not secure ( In My Opinion )
I mention this two posts up . Use a secure wallet. Don't use a exchange as a place to hold BTC as a general rule. if you want to acquire bitcoin, you need to trust someone, either exchanges or the people you will the coins from.
and exchanges are the only option if you want to trade
There are other options such as using other people like localbitcoin. But I like exchanges it is safer and lower costs in my mind. That is assuming you use a good exchange. Don't keep your BTC on the exchange though. Move it to a address you control after you get it, this prevents many problems.

Hey guys, new to mining (aside for some investigation I did using my GPU). I picked up 12 S5s to continue my preliminary investigations into BTC. Before we get caught up on the economics, the game here is to collect first hand data and go from there down the track. 12 miners because that's the dollar amount I was willing to risk on this exercise, and will hopefully give me sufficient data. If it's of any interest my current kw/h goes for about US$0.10. I'd like to keep them on site at this stage, which basically means I have what should really be a comms cabinet to work with. I calculated and vented for 10 air changes per minute (unobstructed). This is nowhere near enough, I can run 6 PSUs and 2 miners mining staying within acceptable temps (30c inside w/24c ambients). Setup is 2 miners and 1 PSU per rack, the chimney effect kicks the goolies out of the top 6 if I power them all up. I'm interested in solutions but some info on the heat I'm trying to remove would be useful. I can relatively easily jack up the airflow, but I'm not convinced anything short of a wall of fans is going to do job. I'm familiar with water cooling and could potentially run a loop through the neighboring room and from there vent to outside, but I'm not sure how much rad I'm looking at. I could run through a water chiller, but I suspect they PC types although overkill for overclocking may be too small for this job. Finally there's the aircon route, but I don't know the BTU's I'm looking for, and I suspect it'll kill the margins anyway. My current intake is passive, I'd have a crack at firing air in from that and possibly something else firing upwards, just don't think it's gonna cut it. So what do we do here guys?? Got 10 S5s sitting on the floor looking very sorry for themselves You have 2 options if your lucky you can look into evaporation cooling. It is cheaper then regular ac. If your not lucky you are like me and evaporation cooling does not work because of your humidity. If this you use lots of CFM of fan's. Were talking about a lot of cfm intake and exhust for 12 S5's. Your cheapest option is find a hosting center for them.

Ares is old at this point, and was shared with 2 other companies they just slapped a sticker on it.
If you want to show something new show Zeus or newer gear. No one denies they shipped that Ares that was split with other companies on chips. But newer gear such as Zeus just no proof.
Please make the effort to read the origin of my post. Your response is totally irrelevant and completely off-topic! I posted the following on 26th June 2015: A positive review I recently purchased hardware from HashCoins and have been very happy with my experience with them. Their communication has been extremely quick and efficient, even during an Estonian public holiday! Their staff have always been polite and very patient with someone who is admittedly rather new to mining. The delivery was very quick and the unit was well packaged. I would purchase from HashCoins again with the confidence that I would be dealing an ethical and legitimate company. I received the following responses amongst others: This is quite possibly the most obvious shilling I've seen in my life.
If a dozen noob accounts with zero reputation, who only post about hashcoins and its greatness, is enough to convince you to preorder from these blatantly obvious scammers (who have been caught lying repeatedly by trusted members), then I've got a bridge to sell you.
and... How about some pics of your miners With your forum name & current date on a piece of paper,in the picture. Then even I may believe you The point of the pictures was not to "show something new" but to provide proof that my positive review was genuine! As a "Hero Member" you probably shouldn't need a "noob" to point out that you are posting in the wrong thread if you are looking for new Zeus hardware! As for jimmothy, Unacceptable and others... I will take your silence as an apology... Thank you I was just saying this shows nothing new besides your name on a old miner. They split the miner you showed with 2 other companies. Want to see it? Just open unit up and look on the chips... This unit the most legit company that sold it was selling it for less look here - https://www.alcheminer.com/en/ same machine for 599. And take note they sell the asic chip I cannot guarantee but i bet on your chips you will see their name. But I am saying no miners since Zeus which shows sold have ever been seen in public. If you want to impress me put your name on a Zeus.... there is no proof. But that does not stop them from then jumping a generation to Uranus. That people are still waiting on. I feel sorry for any that ordered this it does not exist yet. I mean no offense to you but the company still has not shown the other gear. Yes they have a old scrypt asic machine for sell..... nothing new.

No, I am not PMing BadBear a lot. I just PMed him once. Its a one whole week now. My account got locked on 24th and 7 days have passed. With not having a staked address, or being able to send email I think that is adding to time to investigate. Are you able to sign a older message like i asked above? https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1134894.msg11993833#msg11993833Signing much older message would help more then the very recent message you signed. The issue is not the signing of a message. The issue is that there is a queue of other accounts that need to be looked into to see if it is appropriate to recover such accounts. There is not any kind of "official" thread to list your BTC address. I thought whole point of staking an address was to help if you lost control of account. It has someone even quote it so it cannot be changed - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=996318.0 I thought that was best and closest to "official" way there is. On OP reason I asked on older one is it appears he does not know any of original info. If he can sign with a older message shows ownership from a lot longer ago. The address he was signing with was pretty recent post. With only being recent it appears possibly a bought account.

this is why bitmain should have used 8 pin PCI-E connectors instead of 6 pin.
the s3 is just at the edge of 200w per board, if you have a psu with 2 ends per cord, it will be overloaded.
its important to use a PSU that has 4 separate cables per s3.
ur right. since my psu only have 2 pci-e, i change cpu connector (8 pin 12V) into pci-e. its not easy to take pins out from connector, do it carefully. there is another 12V pin at the atx connector, but its too complicated because the cable tied up as one. drawback for this methode is unable to use psu for cpu directly.you have to reverse it before plug it to cpu. simple way is use 4 cable psu(not 2 cable 4 connector). S3+ as long as you are not overclocking a lot 2 cables should power it. One pcie power cable to each side. S5 is a different story 4 power cables is needed. But it uses more watts. A big thing is either one dont use a cheap PSU. If you use a cheap psu it's cords are probley not enough guage and it will get hot.

Yea! directly from bitmain, after 30 min one just started, and yeah im using 220 electricity
I would open up and make sure everything is snug on wires. Normally shipment is not hard on them, but if it was something might have came unplugged. If that does not work go over to the official support: https://bitmain.zendesk.com/hc/en-usMake sure to start a ticket as they are in warranty right now.

Ive had 3 of them for under a week and for some reason, after restarting them (unplugging and plugging back in) only one started and took a bit longer than i took when i first installed it, the other 2 only turned on the psu fan. What should I do? Might it be a couple of defective units? I just checked the voltage and everything seems to be alright.
To have 2 out of 3 defective is a lot. Did you get them from Bitmain? Or somewhere else? Also are you using 110 or 220/240 electricity? This is very important to know.
