7581  Economy / Services / Re: [CFNP] Nakitcoins.com Signature Campaign | Sr. Members+ | Starts Jan. 4th! on: January 03, 2021, 02:03:14 PM
Does local boards count or not?
Yes, local board will count as it is not stated it will not count in the rules and requirements of the campaign. But, it will be good to spread out our posts in more topics and boards and also not concentrating on the local board.

Am I understand right post will be evaluated next Monday?
You can check the spread sheet, the date the round 1 of this campaign will begin has been clearly written by Hhampuz, it will start tomorrow, 04/01/2021 and the week will end 10/01/2021. Check the spread sheet to for clarification. You can check the OP board for the spread sheet or click the link below.

7582  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: On bitcoin's very long term future without miner rewards on: January 03, 2021, 08:46:39 AM
Bitcoin is a deflationary currerency, which means the marketcap and price will be increasing. Although, the price over a short time can decrease, but Bitcoin nature is inevitable which will make the price to have a net increase over long time period. This alone will make the price to be increasing in a way the price as at then when all bitcoin are already mined to be increasing because of limited supply. Because of the price increase, transaction fee should be enough to make miners to continue mining bitcoin.

Do you think it will fork in other versions where there is always a tail reward like in other cryptocurrencies? If that were to happen it would destroys bitcoin's case as having a finite supply.
Anything that will result to finite supply of bitcoin to be altered can not occur, it can only lead to hard fork while bitcoin will remain Bitcoin with a total supply of 21 million. And I think bitcoin miners (community) will not agree with such because increasing the total supply of bitcoin will only lead to price devaluation and depreciation when there is no need, it has postitive effect for bitcoin price to appreciate.

7583  Bitcoin / Mycelium / Re: Does anyone know roughly how much the different fee options charge? on: January 03, 2021, 01:30:24 AM
Maybe the feature is not included in mycelium iOS which is what you are using, on my Android phone, the fee estimates are included. You can check the example below which I just take screen shots not quite long from mycelium wallet on my Android phone.

7584  Bitcoin / Mycelium / Re: Does anyone know roughly how much the different fee options charge? on: January 02, 2021, 11:43:34 PM
It will be good to make use of a reputed bitcoin transaction fee estimator site for this and compare it with mycelium fee estimator. And as you know, the transaction fee is not constant, but in accordance to mempool.
7585  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Question regarding SEED! on: January 02, 2021, 01:06:08 PM
1- How actually Seed works ?
Seed phrase is generated from random number generator while the seed is generated from the seed phrase through key stretching function PBKDF2 using HMAC-SHA512. The seed generates the master private key which is later generates to generate private keys. The seed phrase, the seed and the master private key can be used to recover back Bitcoin or other fund balance if properly imported on another wallet with the same derivation path. So, the seed is used to create HD wallet. To know about this, you can read the wallet aspect of mastering bitcoin, check the link below for the link.

https://github.com/bitcoinbook/bitcoinbook/blob/develop/ch05.asciidoc

2- Is their possiblity to swap 12 words and get working seed in the first few attempts?
Seed is generated from the seed phrase in a HD wallet, not through swapping or any other thing. Read the link above to understand more.

3- If you past ur random 12 seeds in https://iancoleman.io/bip39/ and you get thousands of Derived Addresses, is this mean your Seed are working and they are in correct order ?
I will first have to tell you that if using iamcoleman, you need to used if offline, not online. If you input your wallet seed into iamcoleman, the addresses generated are the address generated from you wallet, they will correspond. Yes, your it means your seed is correct if anyone of the address is correct already, but if the seed is not wrong, it will definitely generate your wallet addresses.

4- Why https://iancoleman.io/bip39/ show thousands of derived adress when you enter a correct Seed (if question "3" is YES" ?
That is how HD wallet is, millions of addresses are even generated which can be controlled by the private key of the seed that leads to the address by using it to unlock bitcoin from blockchain.

5- So i pretend that question 3 & 4 is right, is it possible that 12 SEED can unlock thousands of adresse ? if "YES" is this mean that SEED are not good security for our coins ? I mean if someone can just play with random seed for fun until he got working SEED which can take coin from others ?
Yes, but with what I know, the seed generate the private key that will unlock bitcoin from blockchain. Seed phrase, seed, master private key and private keys are good security, so far it is not revealed to attackers, they are safe and can not be compromised. No technology can yet brute-force them which makes them maintain being safe. If you generate your seed in a safe and secure environment but offline and online, then it is completely (100%) safe.

6- https://iancoleman.io/bip39/ show long list of adresse with their PRIVAT KEY, are this Privat key actually working ?
Yes

7- Is their a websites that can scan all derived adresse to check their balance at same time ?
No, but there are possible ways many address can be connected together by experts using UTXO of the addresses. If you want to know the total balance, the master public key can be used, and that is why it is not good to give people because it can be used to know the whole transaction history.

8- What Derivation Path (BIP32 BIP44 BIP49 BIP84 BIP141) mean ?

BIP32: It determines the hierarchical dertermistic wallet, all HD wallets are BIP32 wallets.
https://github.com/bitcoin/bips/blob/master/bip-0032.mediawiki

BIP44: Multi-account hierarchy for deterministic wallets. This BIP defines a logical hierarchy for deterministic wallets based on an algorithm described in BIP-0032 (BIP32 from now on) and purpose scheme described in BIP-0043 (BIP43 from now on). This BIP is a particular application of BIP43.
https://github.com/bitcoin/bips/blob/master/bip-0044.mediawiki

BIP49: This BIP defines the derivation scheme for HD wallets using the P2WPKH-nested-in-P2SH (BIP 141) serialization format for segregated witness transactions.
https://github.com/bitcoin/bips/blob/master/bip-0049.mediawiki

BIP84: This BIP defines the derivation scheme for HD wallets using the P2WPKH (BIP 173) serialization format for segregated witness transactions.
https://github.com/bitcoin/bips/blob/master/bip-0084.mediawiki

BIP141: This BIP defines a new structure called a "witness" that is committed to blocks separately from the transaction merkle tree. This structure contains data required to check transaction validity but not required to determine transaction effects. In particular, scripts and signatures are moved into this new structure. The witness is committed in a tree that is nested into the block's existing merkle root via the coinbase transaction for the purpose of making this BIP soft fork compatible. A future hard fork can place this tree in its own branch.
https://github.com/bitcoin/bips/blob/master/bip-0141.mediawiki

BIP summary
https://github.com/bitcoin/bips

9- Is their a chance to get randomly seed for OLD dormant BTC Wallet "rich wallet" ?
If the old wallet is HD, then it will have a seed, but non HD wallet has no seed.

10- What difference between 12 words and 24 ?
You can get good answer using master bitcoin, wallet.
https://github.com/bitcoinbook/bitcoinbook/blob/develop/ch05.asciidoc

Seed phrase can 12, 15, 18, 21 or 24 depending on the bit of entropy generated.

CS = ENT / 32
MS = (ENT + CS) / 11

|  ENT  | CS | ENT+CS |  MS  |
+---------+----+---------------+--------+
|   128   |  4 |      132     |  12  |
|   160   |  5 |      165     |  15  |
|   192   |  6 |      198     |  18  |
|   224   |  7 |      231     |  21  |
|   256   |  8 |      264     |  24  |

ENT= Entropy
CS= Checksum
MS= Mnemonic sentence in words

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5262000.msg54789038#msg54789038

11- Old Dormant wallet are they using 12 words or 24 ?
It depends if the wallet is HD or not, all HD wallet generate seed while non HD wallet does not, they have corresponding private key paired with address.

13- I read before that many person lost their Wallet, mean they got hacked even if they confirme that their SEED are in safe place "paper for ex" not even in their computer, do you think "get random seed by chance" is a possibility that why their wallet got hacked ?
People that lost their bitcoin was either due to their wallet being compromised through malware or through stealing it offline. Seed can not be bruth-forecd. If saved in safe environment, the wallet is safe.
7586  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Fast ways to lose money trading on: January 02, 2021, 07:13:55 AM
Trade too much - You don't have to enter a trade everyday even if you're a day trader.
Trading too much will create a kind of poor mindset that can expose traders to high risk.

Trade randomly - Don't trade every coin. Be smart, choose coins you're comfortable with. Don't gamble, always have a plan and follow through on it.
Trading better coins will be the best, number one of them is bitcoin. Some coins are just not good while may coins are shitcoins, shitcoins that people will trade but keep losing.

No stop loss: This happened to me once. I lost a chunk of my capital. Stop loss was created for a purpose use it for every one of your trade.
This depends, and also depending on the analyses. If it is spot trading, there are may times there will be correction, and after the correction is bullrun again. Stop loss can help but it has its own downside too.

You have mentioned and explained some means scammers can use to scam people, and yes it is worth mentioning in order to know how to avoid being scammed. But, it will be good to read the link mk4 pasted above, it consists more writeup about scam and how to avoid being scammed. There are some you need to mention but not yet mentioned, but many contained in the link which you can gain from.
7590  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin whales selling to institutions as Grayscale adds 7,188 BTC in 24 hours on: December 29, 2020, 10:42:39 PM
...
You are very right, and thanks for the correction. Also the $19 billion AUM is not only for bitcoin but also for some altcoins. The fact still remain that the largest grayscale holding is bitcoin with the current AUM of $16.3 billion which was around $14.1 last week which is even what I ought to have mentioned earlier. It is now clear to me how bitcoin price increase led to the increase in grayscale 'asset under management'.
7591  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin whales selling to institutions as Grayscale adds 7,188 BTC in 24 hours on: December 29, 2020, 09:52:09 PM
Grayscale is still on the move buying more bitcoin, it was surprising how this institutional investor bought more than the Bitcoin mined in November, 2020. And yet, buying more bitcoin.

https://www.coindesk.com/grayscale-has-19b-in-crypto-assets-under-management-up-from-16-4b-last-week
Digital asset manager Grayscale Investments has passed another milestone, reaching $19 billion in assets under management (AUM) on Dec. 28, up from the $16.4 billion announced last week.
7592  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Merit] Hey Bitcoiners! Can You Send Encrypted Messages? on: December 29, 2020, 12:05:57 PM
I was able to know how to sign a message using bitcoin wallet earlier but did not know anything about encrypting a message using PGP key, but with what OgNasty told us to do, I was able to encrypt a message which could be useful for many people. This is good to know.

7593  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My email and phone have been hacked, is my bitcoin safe? on: December 29, 2020, 10:37:32 AM
...
About your exchanges that was hacked and got access into, you should have used 2fa. And while using 2fa, it is good to have another device for it generateing the authentication code, if another phone is used for it, and you enable the 2fa on the exchange you used, the hacker would have just tried but in vain to access your exchange account. You will need to report this to exchange customer care and also you will need to enable the 2fa.

Is my bitcoin safe? i understand that they need the 24 word phrase seed to enter it but all this has left me unsure. I did manage to get an ip address from this guy but i know they can fake that kind of stuff so i dont know. What do you guys think i should do plz help thanks.
It depends. I will like to explain this for you clearly. During the data breach, ledger owner emails, phone number and physical address we're leaked to millions of people to be able to access. After the incident, hackers have been sending malacious messages to ledger wallet owners, clicking on the message through email or text messages can caused your ledger wallet to be compromised by providing what is required to steal your bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies on the phishing links. But if you do not click on these phishing links you are safe.

Secondly, is the use of physical threats to threaten ledger owners, but no physical attempts have been made and reported, but there have been series of phisical threats through messages where attackers said they will visit the ledger owner home.
7594  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Merit] Get merit for quality content. on: December 29, 2020, 09:42:35 AM
Okay, I'm sorry. I just wanted to do a good deed because I know that getting my 1 merit is hard enough for some people. I'll be more careful next time, thanks for the advice.
Getting merit is not hard, but can be hard for newbies. If newbies are serious, they will read more about bitcoin and other related boards, the more they read about these the more they know and the more they will post quality posts related to bitcoin and other boards.
7595  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Merit] Get merit for quality content. on: December 29, 2020, 09:32:02 AM
You are not a merit source, you are just still having only 3 smerits. Instead of making a topic about merit giveaway, why don't you just look for quality post and merit the post. The two people that are good enough to post merit giveaway topics are people that have high amount of smerits, while the second are merit sources.

7597  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can 2FA be Hacked? on: December 28, 2020, 08:15:37 PM
'hacker' could have also gotten access to backup codes you saved.
Hackers can only steal what are online and on devices, if the backup is completely saved offline, there is no way for hackers to steal it, but some people just like taking the screen shot of backup or saving it on the device they are using, these ways of backup not good and not safe at all. The best is to have your 2fa backup code on a paper written with pencil, or printed and laminated, or written on metallic sheet. To have it saved offline will protect it from any form of online attack. But, also, it is very important to safe it from physical damages and offline attackers, but offline attack are not common like online attack but also worth protecting it from offline attacks.
7598  Other / Meta / Re: What to do with posts like this? on: December 28, 2020, 03:31:18 PM
I do not think moderators will be able to edit posts like this. Although, not perfect how altcoins are involved, the topic is both bitcoin and altcoin topic which I think in my opinion to be still able to fit into bitcoin board so far bitcoin is emphasized on and is the main part of the topic. But, this leave to be left to other members, especially the ranked members, to correct the OP to post only bitcoin related posts to bitcoin boards. And during replying, I think it will be good to reply more of bitcoin which will later make the thread good and fit into bitcoin discussions.
7599  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Should I be worried if my VPN gets flagged by Admin here? on: December 28, 2020, 08:31:08 AM
You can even use Bitcointalk through Tor if you want to, and is actually heavily recommended for privacy reasons.
Your saying an established member won't get asked to fork out btc fee if he logs in via Tor? How certain are you of that?
You question is not clear. What mk4 meant is clear and simple. If you use Tor browser to access Bitcointalk forum, or any other site, there will be privacy unlike using privacy-depriving broswers like chrome and edge. Although, Tor is slow in loading, but yet still the best, most common and recommendable privacy browser.
7600  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Should I be worried if my VPN gets flagged by Admin here? on: December 28, 2020, 08:20:50 AM
If you like you can use VPN to access this site, you will not be banned because you are using VPN to access Bitcointalk forum which is not against the rules of this forum. Also, you can use any other connections that you want, and you will not be banned. Only what could result to account ban is when a user not obeying the forum rules. Aside this, nothing can get your account banned.
