761  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: OFFICIAL CGMINER mining software thread for linux/win/osx/mips/arm/r-pi 4.9.2 on: March 26, 2016, 06:16:46 PM
Just found the link at the very start of this thread for version 4 - what type of coins are those for? ...snip... Getting a USB ASIC to actually be detected and run properly is hit and miss as it is!

Version 4 is for Bitcoin only, that started with 3.8.0, I believe.

4.9.2 is solid for current ASIC hardware that is supported by it.  Most ASIC's have CGMiner build into them.
762  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: OFFICIAL CGMINER mining software thread for linux/win/osx/mips/arm/r-pi 4.9.2 on: March 26, 2016, 05:06:04 PM
Is there any way to stop cgminer taking over control of my Radeon GPU fan?

Just upgrade to the current version of CGMiner.  You must have a really ancient version since GPU support was removed at version 3.8.0 years ago.  The current version is 4.9.2 which doesn't touch the GPU.

Shocked Shocked

Will you guys believe me that I literally just switched to the solo pool about 15minutes before I hit this block!??!
I thought someone was 'effing' with me in this thread, but not it's verified with the pending 25BTC.. WOOHOO..

And there wasn't even a pool restart!  Smiley
764  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Empty blocks on: March 03, 2016, 11:37:28 AM
Thanks for the update.
765  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Include my transaction in a block, 0.5BTC reward on: March 02, 2016, 01:19:55 AM
22k unconfirmed; lower than 30k earlier
https://blockchain.info/en/unconfirmed-transactions

Its been slow today, i buy stuff all the time but today it didnt confirm yet and Newegg sent an automated message saying the BTC payment failed. Tongue They only wait 3 hours with Bitpay.

What happens then?  Can a transaction be unsubmitted?
766  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: dose mining software work ? on: February 29, 2016, 10:57:39 PM
ok so where do I buy one of them
and what should I expect it to cost ?

I've zero idea about that alt-coin or if it's even possible to mine it.
You'll need to ask someone in the alt-coin threads.

I'm sorry for using that "alt-coin" for reference.....

lets just say I'm solo mining bitcoin for hypothetical purposes. Is there a way to specify a difficulty in the CGminer within the S2 firmware? If I can specify a difficulty, would you or anyone else have any clue where to find that in the firmware (what folder...like /etc/config/.....)

In CGMiner you can suggest a different difficulty with the "--suggest-diff" command line argument.  Only CKPool software supports it and it is only a suggestion.
768  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [∞ YH] solo.ckpool.org 1% fee solo mining USA/DE servers 160 blocks solved! on: February 29, 2016, 03:02:26 AM
It may take me over 3 days to generate a Block at current BTC Difficulty.
Crossing Fingers!

What's your hashrate?

Ok, Maybe not an exact number of days.
I don't think that this will qualify for the contest...
AVG: 17.38GH/s

Trying my luck at Solo-Mining.

I found 3 blocks with 500Mhs but that was over four years ago.  I now have 1.6Ths and don't expect to ever find a block again.  17Ghs? don't hold your breath as your chances are VERRRYY low.  Good Luck though.

770  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Solo Mining with own Full Node - Some Questions on: February 28, 2016, 06:04:21 PM
Did you ever get this setup correctly? I too have S7 w/ Ubuntu core.

If so can I see a copy of your conf file (all personal info edited out)

maybe a quick 1,2,3 list of what you had to get done to get this going?

My node is online and working, but my miner cannot connect to it. (I have all the networking stuff squared away)

Thanks -

You did start the node in server mode, correct?  Also it needs the rpc user id and password that your mining software needs to use.  Check your firewall on your node machine to make sure it is allowing connections into it on port tcp 8332
771  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: finding a block on: February 27, 2016, 08:16:48 PM
try this version of cgminer

Why? Mainline CGMiner tells you everything you need to know without the risk of downloading trojans from strange places.
772  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: finding a block on: February 27, 2016, 01:53:31 PM
You will also have a "Best Share:" equal to or greater than current difficulty.

I have been racking my brain to figure out a good load balance/solution to this as easy as possible.

Balance and load balance strategies have been part of CGMiner since I started using it 5 years ago.
775  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: ADVICE PLEASE - P2P pool payout 'difference' ???? on: February 24, 2016, 12:14:19 PM
P2Pool has it's own support thread.  As do many of the public nodes.

Hi there,

I have been working on a project and am using BFGminer as a stratum proxy. I am told CGMiner has/had this functionality but I don't seem to see any documentation for it or how to use it in such a manner.

CGMiner is mining software.  That's probably whats in your miners.  ckProxy is what your most likely looking for.

What is a DROID.TESTLAB who found 399427 and 399442 bloks, and why it is not in the pool statistics? https://kano.is/index.php?k=stats  Shocked

Great you ran him off.  Smiley

He was there around 480Ths
778  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [25 PH] ** 5x AVALON6 GIVEAWAY ** Kano CKPool (kano.is) [0.9% PPLNS] US,DE,SG,JP on: February 16, 2016, 12:36:10 AM
Heh he picked the same number I said on the slush thread - 10 blocks.
Yes the pool already has information about that ...

That is some interesting stuff.  Why would someone do that here?  Would it be to benefit from faster block change notifications? Harm the reputation of the pool?

I'm pretty sure I saw the word "unintentional" in there somewhere.
779  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [25 PH] ** 5x AVALON6 GIVEAWAY ** Kano CKPool (kano.is) [0.9% PPLNS] US,DE,SG,JP on: February 15, 2016, 10:06:51 PM
But hey, it brings large miner to the pool so increases the chance to find a block even though is reduces payout for the smaller miners (like me).

Reduces the individual payout but increases the frequency of payouts.  Don't forget that little detail Smiley

Sorry for being off topic.

Where does one go to find the Bitcoin price on a give day for tax purposes?

blockchain info will give you the value of the transaction  the day it was made

and bitcoinwisdom has charts   that go back about 2 years.

Phil,
That's a huge help.  Can't believe I hadn't noticed that long ago. Smiley
Thanks
Sam
