Another thing I have to decide on is whether or not to put a heatsink on the boards.
And if I do, which cooling paste.
Obviously I can't use the standard conducting cooling paste.

One of the challenges I got, is select a brand/type mineral oil here in Holland.
I found this one: http://www.sunoco.be/uk/whiteoils_med.html, the MSDS While Oil F.
This firm is located in Belgium, just 40 miles from me.
I have sent them an email with some questions.

You're in good company: http://www.datacenterknowledge.com/archives/2012/09/04/intel-explores-mineral-oil-cooling/

I have also been thinking about this, I have chips for both Bitburner and Klondike boards coming and also have a large fish tank to use for this.

My main concerns are:
  • Is it worth it, given the expectation that the boards will probably be costing more to run than generating BTC within a year.
  • It can become messy, handling oil dripping electronics
  • It will be a mayor disaster when the tank bursts, so I'll probably put the tank in the barn in the back of the garden Wink

registered and set destination for my chips. All OK Smiley

Heb zojuist een transactie gedaan.

Eerst uiteraard BTC -> FBTC. Na drie confirmations stond het op FBTC.

Vervolgens BTC verkocht tegen hoogste bod. Ging allemaal prima.

766  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: U HAVE ORDERED AVALON CHIPS AND NOT FOUND SOMEONE TO MAKE A COMPLETE UNIT FOR Y on: July 01, 2013, 11:05:30 AM
I have just send him a message that I am willing to visit his office and report to the community. I live nearby.
I got a friendly reply from them. A visit is fine by them, but not very useful at the moment because they outsource the assembly of the machines and don't have received the chips yet they ordered.
They expect the first batch of chips in 2-4 weeks, and their own Avalon clone beginning of August.

So I declined the invite to visit them now, I might take it in a few weeks when more is happening.

And I did suggest them to add an Avalon module only product to their website, there are plenty of Avalon 3-module owners who could add a fourth module!

And made a remark about their pricing Wink

EDIT: My misunderstanding: the first group buy was not theirs.

Ik vind de gebruikte termen om opnames en stortingen te doen altijd verwarrend op exchanges.
Code:
Account limieten :

IDEAL storting per dag     :  € 500
Bank storting per dag      :  € 500
Bank opnamen per dag       :  € 2.000
Bitcoins verzenden per dag :  BTC 25
Bitcoins ontvangen per dag :  Ongelimiteerd

suggestie:

Code:
Account limieten :

IDEAL storting per dag     :  € 500         (IDEAL -> FBTC)
Bank storting per dag      :  € 500         (Bank -> FBTC)
Bank opnamen per dag       :  € 2.000       (FBTC -> Bank)
Bitcoins verzenden per dag :  BTC 25        (FBTC -> prive wallet)
Bitcoins ontvangen per dag :  Ongelimiteerd (prive wallet -> FBTC)

Het is maar een suggestie!
Site ziet er netjes uit en is snel.
Nou nog volume in de handel!

769  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Fs sale 5 terrahash board on: June 30, 2013, 09:41:48 AM
I think you're confusing Terahash with Terrahash.

And I am interested in pictures and the uid/pwd of the pool that this boards are using so I can validate your terra hashing claim
You are probably right ;-) Still the OP was very silent after that...
770  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Group Buy]12 KNCminer Jupiter's 15 Sold [Closed] Jupiter Pool on: June 28, 2013, 11:05:35 AM
+1 bitfunder

+2, i m all for this (w/o diluting shares)
Diluting shares has the advantage that people with low amount of BTC can buy your share(s), so more potential buyers!
I am OK with moving to BitFunder, and am in favor of diluting shares.
771  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Extremely user friendly ASICs on: June 28, 2013, 07:54:02 AM
Would you pay 2BTC extra for a friendly screen, a built in wallet, and an internal wireless card?
Yes, but not for just 333MH.
It has to be multiple GH in an attractive package(see below) and can then cost more than 2BTC.
As an early adaptor of Bitcoin, I would love to give it away to introduce Bitcoins to friends in a fun way.
(I did one attempt by giving them BTC via mailacoin, some didn't even pick it up, too much hassle to install the software)

Headlights blink optionally when a share is found Grin
Open the back to see the electronics (protected behind a piece of plexiglass)
Number plate shows the BTC in the wallet  Cool
USB connection to change default configure
772  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Extremely user friendly ASICs on: June 28, 2013, 06:13:25 AM
It should be a nice looking object that doesn't need a PC/laptop to hash.
It should be able to connect to the internet without much user actions, preferably none.
It should already contain a Bitcoin wallet to which it is mining via a pool.
773  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Groupbuy] Jupiter KNCMiner (0.5 BTC shares) 12 sold! [CLOSED] !!! on: June 27, 2013, 10:23:41 AM
I also sold some to check that the whole chain of BitFunder -> WeExchange -> my wallet works and it does.

(correct me if I'm wrong)

777  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: June 26, 2013, 09:42:19 AM
Can anyone think of a reason not to get this PSU for a 3 module silver and a 3 module black Avalon with overclocking intentions ?

778  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin-Qt fills entire disk on: June 25, 2013, 06:41:21 AM
I have not seen this behavior with bitcoind 0.8.2 on another machine that runs Linux.  Has anyone else experienced this?
I was not able to replicate with a VMWare machine (40 GB storage). Does the problem only occur with the SSD, or does it happen on other drives as well? Try using "-datadir=D:\bitcointemp" command line option to set the data directory to another drive.
*grins* I hope I am not revealing your prank, but you'll scare the shit out of him when he notices that his wallet is empty when he points to a new (and initially empty) data directory !
779  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Klondike - 16 chip ASIC Open Source Board - Preliminary on: June 24, 2013, 12:45:24 PM
NEWS FLASH!!! NEWS FLASH!!!

My K16 is hashing with 1 chip.
CONGRATS!!

I was totally excited and hopping around my work bench. Even my wife was in to see what the big commotion was about.
LOL
780  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: KNCMiner and their 'magic' SHA256 alogorithm on: June 24, 2013, 12:39:12 PM
Could it be that they are calculating with worse case scenario that about 23% of the cores in the chip will be dead, so the expected lowest hash rate in total is 350GH, with potentially 30% higher performance for all perfect chips ?
(in other words, 23% dead, 77% equals 350GH, and an unlikely 100% perfect chips will be 30% better, equals 455GH.)
