I would like to say what can be expected at launch. These things I can now commit to for launch: Wallets for Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux will be made available. The source code will be pushed to GitHub. The airdrop will open for application entry. Applications will be processed and payouts will be sent within 24 hours. Most likely much sooner but, please allow me that window.

I do have a meeting this morning in a few hours with the Bernie Sanders supporters. I do hope to walk away from that meeting with more answers for you. Specifically but not limited to, the criteria of the airdrop. I will update you as soon as possible after the meeting.

I would like to also add at this time, my name is Steven Saxton. I am the lead developer of BERNcash. I am sure some of you do already know this from my personal posts on social media. If you do not know me, I am an honest, open, community minded and committed developer. I feel my past work in crypto does speak to that effect in much volume. Also, I am no political guru in fact, I am slightly ashamed of my lack of knowledge in the political arena. I do love my country for its land and people. I do, as many of you, dislike many things about the countries present system of governing and the corruption within. I do honestly feel Bernie Sanders is the best choice of the given options to change that as the 45th president of these great United States. I feel change is needed on the most dire level to correct our countries course. That is why I agreed to take on this project when I was asked. I do feel it is up to "We The People" to make the government we want. BERNcash is my effort to help do just that.

Seriously, I am not sure I understand the purpose of the question but, I will do my best to answer for you. I do think BERN will have to use a private email server for the airdrop email verifications. These emails would come from GoDaddy as that is the hosting the airdrop applications will be handled on. I myself communicate with the Bernie Sanders supporters via phone or skype directly.

I hope that clears things up. If not, please elaborate and I will be certain to expound.

Thank you. I do feel my logic behind my advisements was and is solid. I did explore all options with much thought before explaining them all to the Bernie Sanders supporters and offering my advice, which was followed. I am pleased people are finding my advice to them correct.

We do hope to open the airdrop at launch and it does look like we will have sufficient time to do so. I can't say what the payout amount will be yet. I need to discuss those figures with the Bernie Sanders supporters that ask me to build BERNcash. I think it is safe to say that 25% of the instamine (2.5 million BERN) will be used for this first airdrop but, again, I am not the person that makes that final decission. 25% is the percentage we talked about previously.

The qualifications discussed were: 1) a BERN address of course. 2) verified email address. 3) geographically verified via IP address as present in the USA. 4) agreement that person entering is a USA citizen.

More criteria might be added. Some could be removed. Myself as a person do value privacy to an high level and do give that respect to all other people. It will not be my personal call to make. I will advise of my opinion to the Bernie Sanders supporters. If you have an opinion about it, please feel free to voice it. I will of course listen to any reasonable argument. What I can say is, this first of what might be many airdrops is aimed to get BERN into the hands of people that support Bernie Sanders. I do understand that one might not be a citizen and still support Bernie Sanders and I did state this to the Bernie Sanders supporters. They are of the opinion they want the airdropped coins to get in the hands of Bernie Sanders supporters that could, and hopefully do, vote for Bernie.

The supporters are not active bitcointalk users but they are aware of this thread and do read it. If you share your opinion, I will respond to it but, it is likely they will read it also.

PoS will be evenly distributed to BERNcash holders and PoW will be proportionately distributed to BERNcash miners.

BERNcash does not have billions of wastefully and wrongfully used tax dollars to better direct towards your education. But thankfully the United States government does and hopefully in the very near future under better use of those dollars, can help you and every citizen of these great United States seeking higher education do just that without hadicapping your to be career with enormous loans by the rigged debt system.

I have been using sgminer 5.0 for test mining. X14 is CPU or GPU minable. The reason I choose x14 is it should long be asic resistant based on the low number of coins utilizing it and removal of the whirlpool algo from x15 gives CPU mining a substantial increase in the resulting hash speed. Of course hash speed increases on GPU by one less layer also but, not as much relatively speaking. My thought is that it gives a slight benefit to people that do not have the technical know how or financial means to GPU mine but would still like to participate in mining BERN.

No, I assure you, no ICO. An ICO was never under consideration. I did layout the tentative specs in this post. Yes BERN will be PoW mine-able and as previously stated the algorithm will be X14.

The only revisions to the information already stated in that post as of now is, yes BERNcoin will be PoS/PoW hybrid and the instamine will be a larger percentage. 10% PoS was discussed and 5% instamine was discussed. Reasoning behind the 10% PoS is we feel airdrop recipients could hold and stake their BERN and later in the future easily contribute more than they received to the campaign of Bernie Sanders or hold them even longer to contribute to a different campaign or perhaps Bernie's second term campaign. We do want to enable people to help the progressive politician of their choice and that is why we came to the conclusion PoS makes sense. We do now agree that staking will be an easy way for people that do not have the technical capabilities to PoW mine and also lack the financial resources to simply buy more BERN to grow what some day will be a donation to a campaign. The justification for the 5% instamine is there most likely will be airdrops for non-presidential elections in addition to the first Bernie Sanders airdrop and the potential second term Bernie Sanders airdrop in 4 years. Of course the instamine BERN wallet balance will be fully transparent and verifiable via the BERN blockchain and therefor the BERN block explorer which will be present at launch.

I did hope to have these specification locked down after a meeting today but the absence of one participant prevents me from doing so. I do feel they will agree and these now tentative specifications will become final early this coming week.

Much debate has been going on about this coin with myself and Bernie Sanders supporters and supporters of other, nonpresidential, campaigns. The first change is, from this day forth, it will now be known as BERNcoin as we aim to support and be a medium of supporting all progressive political movements. Bernie Sanders and his campaign is just the first use.

This change has brought changes to the specifications. I can tell you now that BERNcoin, formally BernieCoin, will now have PoS. The instamine percentage will be greater to support other politicians with future additinal airdrops. I have a meeting today that I hope to walk away with hard numbers on these changes. I will of course report those numbers as soon as possible.

Thanks for your interest and well wishes. Some interesting ideas were brought forth during the meeting and I do want to test to see if possible. I of course would present these ideas if found to be obtainable. This coupled with the fact the project was brought to me only recently and I do have projects both in and out of crypto that can not be abandoned made me feel more comfortable with the current launch date. Also, time for marketing is required and that is out of my hands.

If launch can be moved up, I doubt there would be any objections and we will do so.

As promised, I am reporting the tentative specifications agreed upon by myself and Bernie's supporters at today's meeting and the justification for these tentative specifications. I apologize for the short delay in delivering this information today but the meeting was very lengthy as I wanted to be certain to explain the options well and I scrutinized this post thoroughly in my hopes to not miscommunicate anything. Below is as much information that I can deliver with any degree of certainty as of now. I do open the floor for debate of these tentative specifications if you do have suggestions that might improve the likelihood of BERN achieving it's goal of supporting Bernie Sanders and his presidential campaign.

BernieCoin will tentatively be pure PoW. The purpose of BernieCoin and it's use is donating to Bernie's campaign. To discourage hording of BERN and hopefully drive donations to make Bernie the next president of these United States, a PoW/PoS hybrid or a pure PoS implementation was ruled out.

The mining algorithm will tentatively be X14 to prevent any centralized control coming from ASICs and to maintain some attainability for Bernie supporters that want to contribute via mining but do not have the funds or technical knowledge to employ a mining rig of any sort. X11 was initially discussed but the possibility of future ASIC development targeting the large number of X11 coins by the time Bernie is up for re-election brought hesitation to this. X14, with the removal of the whirlpool algorithm from X15, was brought forth by myself as a possibility because the low number of X14 coins that could potentially make future ASIC development less of a threat and, to my understanding, removal of the whirlpool algorithm specifically would benefit CPU mining. Unfortunately, this attempt at boosting non-technical people's CPU hash rate might be easily off set by the gain exposure to botnets. We ended the algorithm talks with X14 as the most likely candidate but, as with most of these details, it is by no means etched in stone yet.

BernieCoin will have an instamine of a small percentage (1 - 2% was discussed) of the total coin supply. A large percentage (50% was discussed) of the instamine will be distributed via an airdrop for supporters of Bernie Sanders. The remainder of the instamine will be used for future distribution and promotion efforts such as, but not limited to, possibly a faucet and/or a second airdrop prior to re-election. The instamine, airdrop, and any further distribution will be fully and completely transparent public information.

Total coin supply will be 200 million. We came to this number by rounding up the total number of registered voters in the USA (~180 million source). We also wanted to make a large number of coins available so that contributors could more easily see contributions in whole numbers.

The block reward, reward halving, and target time all need further analysis of how they would correlate to supporting Bernie's election efforts both in this coming election and the second term election 4 years after. I will post this in the coming days.

The launch date for BERN will be February 23rd, 2016 at 0:00 Eastern Standard Time. This is a week prior to 'Super Tuesday' on March 1st. This roughly month long period from now until launch will allow a window of opportunity for supporters to suggest enhancements, sufficient marketing to spread the word, development of all supporting components, and sufficient testing to ensure a successful launch of Berniecoin on this day.
