7601  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Linux OS accepting Bitcoin donations on: July 04, 2021, 11:49:10 AM
You'll see order page where you can choose "Pay With Cryptocurrency" button. They support BTC, ETH, LTC, BCH and USD coin.
I found it, but it is hidden so deep on their website and you can't see it unless you click donate with USD and come to the last step, like they are hiding it on purpose Smiley

List update and added both CalyxOS and Parrot OS.
Maybe we need to contact other big Linux projects and ask them to add optional Bitcoin donations (if they want).
7602  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What Happens to the People Wanting to Run a Node in 20+ Years? on: July 04, 2021, 11:43:14 AM
What happens to the folks wanting to run a full-node in 20+ years when downloading the entire blockchain takes months and months to complete?
In 20 years size of hard drives will be multiple times bigger and size of bitcoin blockchain will be trivial, and download speed will probably be much faster so people won't need to wait for months to download full node, or they can just download pruned node.
There is also possibility of some code updates and changes that would make it easier for everyone to download and run full Bitcoin nodes.
7603  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Soros Fund Management CIO Hints at Bitcoin Ownership on: July 04, 2021, 10:38:18 AM
Soros and his Fund Management are probably pure embodiment of evil in financial sector so I don't see anything good coming from him regarding Bitcoin.
His objectives are to control and manipulate everything and Bitcoin is now on his radar because it's very hard to control it from the outside, so he is going to try from inside attacks and with some big price manipulations in near future.
He wants centralization of power and one global government and that is totally opposing decentralized nature of Bitcoin.
This are just my predictions and I think he is much worse version of elon musk, written with small letters on purpose Smiley
7604  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New Online Bitcoin Treasure Hunt - Live on: July 04, 2021, 10:25:56 AM
Very smart way to teach people with educational videos and reward them with one BTC, and I think they are probably sharing parts of private keys that is split into ten videos, but it could also be just coded message and first step for generating private key.
7605  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Blockstream Jade - fully open source hardware wallet on: July 04, 2021, 08:02:15 AM
Hopefully they get some more stock in the not too distant future, so I can actually get one and have a proper play with it.
You can make your own DIY Jade wallet with small esp32 devices that are even cheaper, purchased locally or on internet, than load it with Jade's open source code and you are good to go.
I think Jade is based on M5StickC PLUS ESP32-PICO that costs around $20, but it works also on M5Stack ESP32 or M5Stack Core2 ESP32 AWS with secure element.
Even TTGO T-Display ESP32 works with Jade's code and it can be purchased for around $10 online.

7606  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Linux OS accepting Bitcoin donations on: July 04, 2021, 05:39:11 AM
Just to add the list, I found another distro that accept Bitcoin donation. https://ubuntu-mate.org/funding/
Can you please tell me where exactly they accept Bitcoin donations?
All I can see is donations with Pateron, Liberapay, PayPal and Teespring.

...
Thank you for posting suggestions, list is updated.

Since we're talking about open-source projects and bitcoin donations, I think these projects(and people) also need to be mentioned:
I added GrapheneOS and Whonix but I can't find any donation page for CalyxOS, and I am focusing only on Linux operating systems in this topic Wink

7607  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Mining tax in Kazakhstan on: July 03, 2021, 09:48:11 PM
I don't understand why the US tax is lower?
Read correctly, I said that all those taxes in Kazakhstan are LOWER than in US and other western countries, but taxes in Texas are probably lower than in other US states.
7608  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Blockstream Jade - fully open source hardware wallet on: July 03, 2021, 09:41:36 PM
Anyone who is interested to learn everything about Blockstream's JADE hardware wallet should watch very good review from Alex Waltz aka @raw_avocado.
This guy is making a great Bitcoin related content, and I have no idea how he only have 159 subscribers and some craptalkers and pumpers have over 100k,
but I guess anything is possible on Youtube and they are probably going to tech-hell with their recent censorship politics.
Among other things it's interesting to see Jade size comparison with other hardware wallets like Coldcard, Trezor One and Ledger.

7609  Economy / Service Discussion / Linux OS accepting Bitcoin donations on: July 03, 2021, 09:25:13 PM
Linux operating systems are created before Bitcoin and they have same Open Source spirit but it's strange to me that some of the big Linux projects are still not accepting Bitcoin donations and payments.

That is why I decided to create and maintain a list of all known Linux OS that people can support with BTC donations, and raise awareness about this issue, because helping linux developers is also helping Bitcoin indirectly.

I am going through the list from distrowatch.com and currently most popular linux projects like Ubuntu, Debian, MX Linux and Manjaro are not accepting Bitcoin, or I can't find their donation page.

- Linux Mint accepts crypto donations with Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, Bcash and Monero.
- Linux Lite accepts crypto donations with Bitcoin.
- FreeBSD accepts crypto donations with Bitcoin.
- Tails accepts crypto donations with Bitcoin, Monero and Ethereum.
- Qubes OS accepts crypto donations with Bitcoin and Monero.
- React OS accepts crypto donations with Bitcoin.
- Trisequel accepts crypto donations with Bitcoin.
- Kodachi accepts crypto donations with Bitcoin and Monero.
- Ubuntu Mate accepts crypto donations with Bitcoin.
- HardenedBSD accepts crypto donations with Bitcoin, Bcash and Ethereum.
- Mageia accepts crypto donations with Bitcoin.
- BlackArch Linux accepts crypto donations with Bitcoin.
- Graphene OS accepts crypto donations with Bitcoin and Monero.
- Whonix accepts crypto donations with Bitcoin and Monero.
- Calyx accepts crypto donations with Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, Bcash, USDC.
- Parrot OS accepts crypto donations with Bitcoin, Litecoin, Stellar, Ethereum and erc20 tokens, Doge, Dash, Zcash.
- LockBox accepts crypto donations with Bitcoin, Ethereum and Cardano.

Please make suggestion and propose any Linux open source projects that is missing from this list if they accept Bitcoin donations.
7610  Economy / Reputation / Re: REQUEST FOR ATTENTION OF: All 1xbit Signature Campaign Participants on: July 03, 2021, 08:35:50 PM
Honestly, I don't see so much spam coming from people with 1xbit signatures and even if I don't agree with how 1xbit runs things in general, you can't and should not stop them for having paid campaigns in forum.
This is free market and free speech, everyone here knows they are risky and members participating are also taking risks, but I won't tag anyone for joining this campaign,
and better solution would be just to ignore them and don't give them so much attention.
We really really don't need more 1xbit topics in forum.
7611  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Viewing advertisements and getting paid with Ethereum on: July 03, 2021, 08:24:01 PM
One of my friends are sharing a Telegram link which calls themselves as ETH Ads. They say that you get paid for each ads, and there's a referral system. This pricked my ears and I have a hunch that this is a Pyramiding scheme although my friend says that there's no need to invest some money out of it. My question is whether it is legitimate or not?
Clicking on anything shared on Telegram or replying to pm from unknown people can be very risky, or people are just sharing ref links, but I never heard anything about earning ethereum for watching ads.
I do know about a way for earning some altcoins for watching videos on odysee.com, and you can't get rich that way but it probably pays more than watching some boring ads.
Best way to earn Bitcoin and other coins is to offer your services and get paid in crypto, not just in fiat currencies.
7612  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Cruise Ship holidays at fantastic prices (Bitcoin, crypto or USD) on: July 03, 2021, 08:05:58 PM
What coins are you exactly accepting as payment and is there any page where people can read about it on your website?
All I can see is that you accept Visa, MasterCard and American Express on the bottom of the page, and it's the same on pricing page, no mention of Bitcoin and crypto.
Not to mention that paying for any cruises in this crazy dystopian times is very risky and can be easily canceled.
7613  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Novosti on: July 03, 2021, 06:52:16 PM
https://twitter.com/dcfgod/status/1410985736715767817

7614  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Looking for advice on a full node on: July 02, 2021, 01:35:24 PM
I read that it's not as secure because for example updates aren't signed, although I don't know if that's also the case with the other nodes
You can verify any update yourself because everything is open source and posted on their github page:

7615  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: George Soros is now officially trading bitcoin. Good or bad? on: July 02, 2021, 12:59:02 PM
Money is control. Our world is run on money.
Money is just a paper or number on the screen, and this can all be gone in second in some financial collapse, like in Lebanon now for example.
Money is not really control because money is controlled by only few individuals and corporations.

Therefore off course its important. Otherwise, we would see less millionaires/billionaires tax evading. So, claiming money not being important past a certain point, I would disagree.
You don't have to agree with me, but read and investigate how many countries Soros destroyed, and he is just using money as one of his tools for destruction and control of the people.
7616  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Article: The Craig Wright May 2016 Signing Sessions Debacle, In Full Context on: July 02, 2021, 12:46:47 PM
I am honestly sick of reading so much news about this and anything connected with this evil slime  Tongue
We all know that Craig Faketoshi never proved that he owns that bitcoin address and he never signed a message, so he isn't Satoshi Nakamoto, but problem is that some corrupt judge can make a wrong decision.
They don't know anything about Bitcoin and signing of messages, they don't want to learn about it and maybe someone has interest to crown Faketoshi, for whatever notorious reasons they have.
One thing is sure, he will never be accepted by Bitcoin community.
7617  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is there any miner who have not sold any bitcoin from the beginning? on: July 02, 2021, 12:28:50 PM
Lot of Bitcoins never moved for years from their original addresses so they can be considered early miners who never sold Bitcoin, and Satoshi is also one of them.
Around 4 million Bitcoins didn't move for years, they are now probably lost, and I would guess that many of this coins are coming directly from mining but I can't prove that.
7618  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Couldn't the Govt/banks put pressure on exchanges to deplatform people ? on: July 02, 2021, 11:11:34 AM
Can't the Govt/corporations just get creative and pressure exchanges to deplatform people ?
Sure, they can do anything they want including banning people from any exchange in same way like some people are banned from owning bank accounts.
Big corporations are even more dangerous than governments because they can bribe and pay politicians to do their dirty jobs.

Sure, you have a wallet, and can buy and receive BTC, but you can't legally buy it.
There are some states with better regulations like Florida and maybe you should move away from NY and do some P2P trading when you want to buy Bitcoin.

Sure, you could get a VPN & use another exchange but this comes with it's own risks, and is too much trouble for the average Joe.
Using VPN with Coinbase is very risky and they will probably detect you are using it and ban your account, so I would avoid doing that.

7620  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Bitamp Bitcoin Web Wallet - Send & Receive Bitcoin Instantly! on: July 02, 2021, 10:52:05 AM
Anyone got any experience to share with this?
Sealed envelope left for your family members with simple instructions on how to recover and use Bitcoin would be the best option, but I believe that some basic education is needed even before, so that people could understand importance of Bitcoin and private keys.
That is easier said than done, and I realized that many people are often just not willing to listen and learn anything, at least that is my experience so far.
