7641  Other / MultiBit / Re: Please Help: 2BTC locked because "The password did not unlock the wallet" on: November 10, 2017, 10:54:33 PM
Please don't cross-post across multiple threads... you'll get answers all over the place. It wasn't necessary to start a thread requesting help in the Dev & Tech Discussion section, a thread in the MultiBit section and then "necropost" 2 other threads with the same request Roll Eyes

Suggest you stick with 1 thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2383713.new#new
7642  Other / MultiBit / Re: I need Help unlocking Multibit Classic wallet - password bug on: November 10, 2017, 10:54:03 PM
https://github.com/HardCorePawn/multibit_recovery

I am using python 3.5.4 on a Mac and when I run it I get this:

I really want to get my BTC out asap and get rid of Multibit. Can any one tell me how to fix this?
That is your problem right there... the python bitcoin libraries and the script itself are NOT compatible with Python 3... you need to use Python 2.7.x... and from memory it needs to be Python 2.7.9+...

Install Python 2.7, install the required libraries again (making sure you're installing to Python 2!), and you should be able to get the script to run Smiley

NOTE: it is also possible, that your wallet file is totally corrupted, so your "100% correct password", won't help you. I've tried assisting other users in the past who had files that wouldn't decrypt properly due to the files being corrupted by MultiBit itself Sad

ps. Try not to cross-post in the future... it'll make things very confusing and you'll get answers all over the place. Try and keep it in one thread! Wink
7643  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Lost Password for Armory Wallet on: November 10, 2017, 10:45:18 PM
I'm a Armory and IT novice. Looking for any advice on what to do when I've lost my password for my Armory wallet. Advice greatly appreciated.
As per the advice given when setting up your Armory wallet:

You will need your "paper backup" with the root key to recover your wallet... you made a paper backup right?

If not, then you *might* be able to brute-force your password if it wasn't too long/complicated and you have some idea of what it might have been. refer: https://github.com/gurnec/btcrecover

7645  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin Core ERROR - Closeing abruptly - debug.log on: November 10, 2017, 10:30:05 PM
Firstly, you should only work with "copies" of your old wallet.dat. Don't work with the original file!

"salvagewallet" is probably the LAST thing you want to attempt. It doesn't fix the wallet, it just scans it looking for anything that looks like a private key.

I would suggest that you try and use the "pywallet" Python script to try and read and recover the private keys etc from the wallet.dat file... but you would need to know how to use Python and the command line.
7646  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Please help me, stuck transaction, will reward on: November 10, 2017, 10:21:50 PM
That transaction simply does not exist anywhere. It isn't even on chain.so (which usually shows most of the "missing" transactions that other block explorers don't have)... Undecided
As for the "bcoiner" wallet itself... It sounded "familiar"... sure enough, I found this thread from over a year ago: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1567809.0

Like then, I'm still convinced that the wallet is a scam. No contact details, no terms of service. You should probably consider those funds pretty much lost.

Unless you created a new transaction to send your 0.11 BTC from 1MbPRPBYmvonGE9733DNt6d6qXusSwyKxV to 1DFah7EwnD5tZjtCPx3ZxsSHkxYdYMKeRK Huh
7647  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Anyone else having long long confirmation times with payments from Nice Hash? on: November 10, 2017, 09:43:50 PM
This one is pretty good: https://bitcoinfees.earn.com/
I like this one as well: https://btc.com/stats/unconfirmed-tx

The 2nd gives a really good indication of "where" in the fee stack all the of transactions are sitting... by looking at the number of bytes on the right, you can get an idea of how many blocks of data are at/above any given fee value.

You need need to gauge the network activity, and how many transactions are likely to be added in before the next block is found etc.

Then there is this "rainbow": https://jochen-hoenicke.de/queue/#

Lot's of data, once you figure out what the charts are actually telling you! Wink
7648  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin Core ERROR - Closeing abruptly - debug.log on: November 10, 2017, 09:32:45 PM
It looks like your wallet file is corrupted. Undecided

When trying to restore this file, did you run some programs or scripts or something to try and "restore" the file? Huh If so, you might have corrupted it. Do you make copies of the original wallet.dat? Note: to "restore" the wallet, all you should have needed to do was put a copy of the wallet.dat into the Bitcoin Core data directory... and start Bitcoin Core.

As for Bitcoin Core, shut it down. Then try renaming the wallet.dat that is currently in the Bitcoin data directory to OLDwallet.dat... and then start Bitcoin Core and let it sync up. See if it is still crashing.

Once you've confirmed that Bitcoin Core is working OK, you can shut it down, then put a copy of your original wallet.dat back into the Data Directory and then try starting up Bitcoin Core again. It it starts crashing, then your wallet file is definitely corrupted Sad
7649  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Accidentally sent BTC to BCH address on: November 10, 2017, 08:45:27 PM
I'm not 100% sure that this will work, as I don't have a KeepKey to test with, but it should be possible to identify the private key using the 12 word seed mnemonic and Ian Coleman's BIP39 mnemonic code convertor: https://iancoleman.io/bip39/

NOTE: you should create an offline copy of this (instructions are at the bottom of the page) and you should run it on an offline computer

You put the 12 word mnemonic where it says "BIP39 mnemonic", set the coin type to "BCH - Bitcoin Cash", and then click the BIP44 tab, your addresses should show at the bottom (you make need to click "show more" if you have used more than 20 addresses.

You may also need to change the "External/Internal" value from 0 to 1 to see your "change" addresses.
7650  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: ELECTRUM WALLET hacked on my computer -- HELP on: November 10, 2017, 08:37:26 PM
same here!

0.79615079 BTC STOLEN!

by ADRESS:

13k7TnLmzvcvLncRyQm7uwVtLc6tLRApP2

is there anything I can do?
In a word, No. Undecided

BTC transactions are irreversible. If you did not create and/or authorise this transaction, then you coins have most likely been stolen by someone who managed to get your private keys, your wallet seed or your wallet file+password. If someone took your coins without permission, they're not likely to give them back.

Did you recently attempt to claim Bitcoin Gold or Bitcoin Cash via a website or download some new wallet software that you put your private keys or seed into? There are a lot of scams going on at the moment with the various forks happening.

Did you store your seed and/or private keys on an online storage service like dropbox? did you store them digitally in a text file on your computer?

I would suggest that you scan your computer for viruses/malware at the very least... but a complete format and Operating System reinstall is probably the safer option. You should also consider your current Electrum wallet totally compromised and stop using it immediately and generate a new wallet with a new seed.
7651  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: nitrogen sports WHAT DO YOU THINK on: November 10, 2017, 08:28:03 PM
Agreed, I haven't seen any real valid proof of anything, other than one withdrawal that got cancelled. Without some solid proof, I don't see anyone taking this scam accusation seriously.

Additionally, if you look at his topics started, they are all him accusing various online gambling sites of being a scam: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;threads;u=1044165;sa=showPosts

And all of his recent posts are posting in those threads, or the online casino's service discussion threads about how they are all scams, and/or anyone who doesn't agree with him is a shill: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1044165;sa=showPosts

I haven't found one post, where he has actually shown any evidence of any of these so called scams, just lots of whining about how the provably fair systems are not provably fair, and that it's a scam because he had some bad runs.

So, my guess is that this user is either a sore loser who doesn't understand probability, or they are hoping that the online casinos will offer some sort of financial incentive to remove the scam accusations... Huh
7652  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Warning about portable versions on: November 10, 2017, 08:11:15 PM
I don't understand if I can update my portable version simply saving the data folder or I have to enter again the seed?
Personally, I would make a copy of the data folder... It isn't strictly required, but it's always better to have a backup and not need it, than needing a backup and not having one! Wink

Then you just put the new portable .exe in the same folder as the old portable .exe (Note: You don't even need to delete the old portable .exe at this point, it is OK to just leave there). Then double click the new portable .exe to check that it is all OK... that's all there is to it.

Once you have confirmed that everything is running ok with the new portable .exe, you can safely remove the old portable .exe.
7653  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: How can i get bitcoin gold on electrum [step by step] on: November 10, 2017, 11:54:47 AM
You can use the Electrum Gold wallet for bitcoin gold  https ://www.electrum-gold.org <-- SCAM SITE DO NOT VISIT THIS SITE
Fairly sure that is just a reboot of the SCAM WALLET listed here: https://bitcoingold.org/not-official-websites/ it is even using the same "screenshot" (with some edits to the toolbar)

For the record, that electrum-gold website has a single download link that links to a .zip file here: https ://github.com/mysmsbiz/btg/releases/download/v2.9.3/electron-gold-2.9.3.zip <-- SCAME WALLET!! DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS!!!

That "github" has absolutely ZERO code associated with it... https://github.com/mysmsbiz/btg

DO NOT visit electrum-gold and DO NOT download and/or use the wallet... you're likely to lose BTC/BTG and infect your computer with all sorts of malware.

Keep an eye on https://bitcoingold.org/ <-- OFFICIAL Bitcoin Gold website... they will announce when the BTG compatible wallet is released!
7654  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: resend bitcoin on: November 10, 2017, 10:48:30 AM
OK... that really doesn't clarify things at all... so we'll take things one step at a time...

Which address did you send Bitcoins to? The address that you received them from when doing a withdraw from an Exchange? or was it the old deposit address that you previously used?
7655  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Received USDT on my BTC wallet on: November 10, 2017, 10:44:12 AM
I mistakenly sent ltc to a ltg address will this work too? Another problem is I was sending from cryptopia to coins exchange, so I don't have the private keys. What should I do? Thanks in anticipation.
Ask the exchange very nicely if they can help... otherwise, your only other option is to go buy a 6-pack and drown your sorrows, because those coins are gone. Without access to the private keys, there is NOTHING you can do if the exchange won't help Undecided
7656  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Urgent - unconfirmed transaction in chain.so, and doesn't exist in blockchain on: November 10, 2017, 10:38:29 AM
And here is the information that I get from Block.io when retrieving private keys for address 3CdYdQcc79QywRbZsAToKJx3AC83GGr1Ke :

* Address: 3CdYdQcc79QywRbZsAToKJx3AC83GGr1Ke
* Address Type: P2WSH-over-P2SH
Ohhhhh... it's a SegWit address... OK, all bets are off. I honestly have no idea what you need to do at this point... but that probably explains the "witness program does not match script hash" error...

As far as I can tell, I *think* that there are inputs used in your original transaction that are no longer available (ie. they've been spent in different transactions)... so I don't think your original transaction will ever confirm. It would appear that someone (your wallet? block.io? the receiving wallet? some other 3rd party?) is trying to rebroadcast that original transaction.

Give it a day or so... and it should all settle down and the transaction should be completely dropped from the mempool and your wallet should show you the coins etc.
7657  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: need help restoring old wallet on: November 10, 2017, 10:28:12 AM
They only show as "unused" because your restored Armory is not online, so can't see any transactions for your addresses. How can it tell if the address was used or not if it cannot see the blockchain data? Wink

Did any of the addresses that it generated show any transaction history if you look for the address on a blockexplorer? Chances are that you need to just look further down the list, and/or you need to find the "change" addresses that are holding your coins from any transactions that you have previously made.

Without knowing the full details of your transaction history... ie. how many send/receives you did, it's difficult to know in which address the coins are likely to be in now. However, if you can see transaction history for these addresses, at least you know you're on the right track.

Personally, I would just use a text editor to get a list of the "addresses", then bulk import the addresses into an Electrum "watching only" wallet... find the addresses that have the coins, and then import/sweep those private keys. (or maybe just bulk import all the private keys?)

7658  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: getting the private key from my ANDROID electrum wallet on: November 10, 2017, 05:01:20 AM
i'm posting this again here (this time in electrum!), in the hope someone can help.
It isn't going to change the answers that you got in your previous thread in Tech Support... You CANNOT get private keys out of Android Electrum. The functionality just isn't there.

Quote
How do i get the private key from the seed, to claim my bitcoin gold? Claiming bitcoin cash was easy, because of the electron cash wallet.
I've already answered this in your original thread... you need to modify the BIP39 mnemonic code converter tool so it works with Electrum seeds... and use a derivation path of m/0 and m/1

Quote
I can't find a way to get the private key, and there is no wallet out there which will accept my electrum seed to credit me with bitcoin gold.
You realise BTG hasn't even gone live yet right? Not until Nov 12... so there is NO BTG to even claim or be credited with... Roll Eyes

Quote
1. please help me get my private key!?
See your original thread... if this is beyond your capabilities, then wait for BTG devs to put our their BTG version of Electrum.

Quote
2. is there a way of claiming my bitcoin gold using my seed only?
Wait until the BTG devs put out their BTG fork version of Electrum...
7659  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum and Changelly history/math mismatch on: November 10, 2017, 04:43:09 AM
I uninstalled Electrum and redownloaded it, hoping that restoring from seed may fix the issue.
Upon installing and opening Electrum, my wallet and associated history was still there without restoring from seed. I presume that the electrum.dat file/s weren't deleted upon uninstall (or other files?)?
Correct. To prevent wallet loss, Electrum does NOT remove wallet files when you uninstall it.

Quote
Edit: Ah, yes - also: I used a block explorer and it appears that, indeed, only one transaction went through.
That's a good start... hopefully this means that there are not 2 other transactions sitting pending.

Quote
Edit2: Would it be wise to delete all the *.dat files in the /Bitcoin subdirectory to insure deletion of the associated files? I'm not seeing any electrum.dat files in the /Electrum file. For what it's worth, I have a few different wallets installed, at the moment.
Electrum does NOT use any files from Bitcoin Core or other Bitcoin wallet applications. It shouldn't matter what you have in your /Bitcoin direcotry. As for the /Electrum directory, current versions of Electrum generate wallets that have NO file extension by default... ie, they are just called "default_wallet" or "the name I entered"... NOT "electrum.dat" or "default_wallet.dat" or "the name I entered.dat"

I would just try shutting down Electrum, deleting the "blockchain_headers" file ONLY from the /Electrum directory and then restarting Electrum... and restoring your seed to a new wallet. See if that helps.

If that doesn't help, then we're going to need to see transaction IDs, addresses and possibly some screenshots to try and figure out what is happening.
7660  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum question on: November 10, 2017, 04:35:36 AM
Even if for some reason Electrum ever goes down, you can still use this seed to just import your wallet in a different wallet and recover your funds.
Except for the "minor" issue of Electrum seed mnemonics not being usable in any other wallet that I am aware of due to Electrum's use of non-BIP39 compatible seed mnemonics Roll Eyes

Try and put an Electrum seed into Ian Coleman's BIP39 Mnemonic Code Convertor Tongue

Also, as far as I'm aware, there is no easy way to "convert" an Electrum seed mnemonic into a BIP39 seed mnemonic... although, theoretically, it should be possible.
