Video should be available at this link in two minutes or so: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5UFGEXyduSAI realize there isn't a great comparison for how noisy this miner is, but it sounds about the same as your typical vacuum cleaner on high speed. Be sure to let me know if you have any other questions I can answer, or want any more pictures of the unit. @suchmoon I can test that out in a minute and get back to you on what happens, but yeah I suspect it just won't power up. great video, thanks, man if you want to be a little more detailed, can you measure noise in dB with your Android/iphone from 1ft or 1m distance? the app is called "dB meter" on iphone there is also sound meter on android Sure thing, just tested that out for you. Phone right up to the miner: 100dB Phone 1 meter from the miner: 70dB thanks...100db, wow, but i hope that it is a glitch as even 80dB can cause permanent hearing damage if you are exposed for more than 8hr. 70db sounds a bit more than S5 at 1m, maybe somewhat similar. S5 was ~72dB close to the fan. I am thinking about some low tech solutions to the noise.

Haha probably cash out most of it and I'd just start my early retirement ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) I don't know why people are so enamored with retirement. To me typical retirement=nothing much to do, you get bored and get early Alzheimer's from not exercising your brain much, plus your wife/gf is bored of seeing you around 24/7. People, especially men, seem to deteriorate pretty quickly once they move from work (active lifestyle) to retirement (not working). If course, there are exceptions where you basically switch careers in retirement, but i wouldn't even call that true retirement. Women seem to handle retirement better than men in any case.

Thanks for the pics! Can't wait for the video.
Looks like I'll have to dedicate 3x power supplies to connect those 9 PCI-E cables. LOL
my hope is that adding a PCIe split to just two (out of four) of EVGA1300 single red cables will do the trick as you'll end up with 10 connectors (9 for the machine and one for controller)

Time to answer some questions! Can you try to run it with two PCIe connectors per board? It would be interesting to see if it needs all three.
The miner won't operate with two PCI-e connectors per board, according to Bitmain. See this image: https://i.imgur.com/OV3f8Ql.jpg - Read point #1 Thanks for posting this, but i find Bitmain's instructions on imgur's image incomprehensible as it is a mishmash of S5+ and S7, especially point #5 where it mixes S5+ and S7 together. Also, why 16A for S7 when it is 1210W, which is 11A even at the lowest 110V. This is a question to Bitmain, of course. I saw the same mistake (the S5+ instead of S7 mistake) as you, it seems like they through those instructions together very quickly without even proofreading. They also claim that most residential lines supply only 10A. ![Huh](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/huh.gif) Here in Canada most residential 120V lines supply 15A. Hopefully they'll fix up these instructions before mass-shipping the units out.one would sincerely hope so as it is total gibberish right now and would cause quite a few angry or anguished calls/emails if left as is.

i wouldnt do anything as i dont have any bitcoins though most probably i would buy bitcoins
we have a buyer at 1M/coin...nice please post scenarios on how bitcoin can reach 1M from $240 in 24 hr (either from today to tomorrow or from any single day to the next day). It should be a fun exercise. My entry: Aliens land on Earth, appear peaceful yet very advanced and declare that anyone can buy a procedure that gives you immortality, but there is a catch-you can only pay in one bitcoin and nothing else. Aliens post a very credible youtube video that explains it all. Video is watched by ~2-3 bil people in the first 24hr and bitcoin reaches $1M shortly thereafter. Your entry? What good would Bitcoin be on another planet? The blockchain is locked in our internet. it's funny that the rest of the supposition is OK....it's a game to see how bitcoin could become worth 1M in 24hr. Explanation: aliens want to promote social development on Earth, acquire a substantial % of the local economy and they want to have the local universal currency that they favor since it could be linked easier to their computers. It's not for them to use it on other planets.

While doing your own usage measurement is a great idea, there is still some mystery into how the actual bill from the Power Company is derived from that (e.g. fixed costs, taxes, fees, etc).
this is true, my power company wont even tell you how much they charge you if you ask them on the phone. the bill has NO price per KWH.. just a value you used, and how much you owe at the bottom. in US? this is messed up. I have everything marked on my bill: cost of electricity, cost of transmission, final cost per kwh, taxes, fees, they even give me neat graphs week by week and a comparison with the last year.

SP20s tolerate heat a bit better than S5s, in my experience with a limited data set, but mostly 'cause they are a TON more configurable. They're quieter, but not a LOT quieter if you are pushing them anywhere near their full hashrate. They ARE a lot quieter if you undervolt them some, can still get 1.3-1.4 GH with a fairly low noise level and close to S5 efficiency in a cool room. My "summer" rate here (mid-June to mid-Sep) exceeds 15 cents/KWH during the day easily, due to ToD rate adjustment, the OVERALL is about 14.2 but that's only WITH ToD overall adjustment, without ToD it WOULD be a hair over 15 I believe - this is in Iowa with Alliant's ripoff "tons of extra fees" rate BS. Our rates where I live have gone UP at least 3 cents/KWH in the last 5 years due to Alliant adding way too many surcharges with almost NO reduction in the base rate to compensate. The rest of the year isn't so bad for those that use a lotta electric - first 1200ish KWH are sorta pricy, but after that it's around 6.7 cents/KWH for the "anything over" third residential tier. 3.9c for 1kwh, 4.9c for 2kwh, 6c for more than 2kwh, 6mo from GEXA
and after the 6 month "teaser" what does it go to? I still have 2 S7 coupons available at 0.1 Bitcoin each. I don't live on this board, so don't expect "instant" response to mails, but I WILL get back to you. it's not a teaser, just 6 mo contract...after 6 mo you get a different contract..this is how it works here, although i usually get a 12 mo contract.

Ok, so how much BTC I need to store from now to be millionaire ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) in 3-5 years when Bitcoin grows mainstream ? 10 ? 50 ? 100 ? 1000 ? Share Your thoughts. Depends in which part of world you live.At my place you would already be millionaire if you could afford to buy 50 btc Yeah , I agree with you it really differs between a place and another one , for example 1 bitcoin in my country worth like a salary for 2 month in a lot of full time jobs which country is that?

Interesting to see what happens to S5 market price.
Falls down and then recovers. Currently, you can buy 1x S5 for 1 BTC Is this true? Where? If so, I'll take them all! probably not a machine that you can later sell; just a hash equivalent on hashnest, but I digress.

18k USD is nothing. One million is my target.
only if ALL of the following happens: 1. governments embrace bitcoin instead of making FED/ECBcoin-probability 20-50%. 2. governments prod banks to accumulate bitcoin-If #1 happens, then probability is close to 100% 3. monetary system switches to bitcoin on a large scale-probability is close to 100% if #1 happens 4. bitcoin remains at 21mil limit-probability unknown (1-100%, depending on whether #1 happens) all probabilities-in my opinion

imho quite miners are very important to keep bitcoin decentralized. as stated in the op: they can be used as heating devices which essentially means: mining is only a by-product. no data-center can beat this.
i really hope many vendors will enter this consumer market.
bring back the s-3 with s-5 chips 2 boards 2000 gh 500 watts the s-3 is the greatest miner ever made if used for heating as its primary purpose. yeah, these would be versatile..and a much better seller to retail crowd/us. bitcoin market is truly messed up right now with basically no large scale suppliers except BM.

Don't be fooled by the quiet and stable price. The next pump will bring it all the way up to at least $18000. There simply is too much demand. Put your buy orders now
Haha good stuff old friend. $18,000 is a dream. I'm a bit doubtful about those kind of prices in the near future though. I think those kind of prices are possible in about 10 years but I can't see it at the moment. There are too many people manipulating the price & dumping every time we get near 300. We need people to HODL & stop selling. We need to limit the supply. We also need some proper good news, a massive company like Amazon or Walmart etc to start accepting bitcoin. We need the Winklevoss Gemini Exchange to be approved, we need their ETF to be granted. The reason the price has stagnated is because there's nothing making average joe want to buy bitcoin. Things will get better we just need to be very patient. Don't be weak & sell. HODL for years, it may be the best thing you ever do. the industrial miners such as knc, bitfury, spondoolies/btcs, bitmain, chinese farms are doing all the selling, individual miners either do not sell or are a small %.

I don't think you will ever need to resell your RM1000. It will olways be usefull for mining. I have 3 of them and a RM650. At the moment running 5 S5's When my S7 is coming i will use the 1000 and the 650 for it. And 2 RM100 to run 3 S5's
Thank for the info. Didn't kwon you had 110v and 220v in the usa
Depends on wiring and breakers. I have 120 and 240 and I am in US. So it just varies. But I agree keep the PSU's you will love it later on if you buy a miner and already have PSU's. This has been my feelings from beginning and it's nice to have extra PSU's. Also anyone notice if people waited till right now they paid less BTC - Price: 1823 USD ( 7.604 BTC ) . I hope bitcoin goes up and they do not jack prices guess we will see. I ordered 4 today at 1823 USD ( 7.569 BTC ) each. I was pleasantly surprised that the USD price wasn't higher... whats your electric rate if you don't mind telling us? My rate is fixed year round 13c kwh .....so the boat don't float ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) (also 2 titan(s) in basement not yet to doorstop status that is 2500 watts ...so looking at this beast I shudder of the vision on my 100 amp service melting ) ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) but really at 13c kwh home mining is dead .......alas ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) and I think? this beast only has a 90 day warranty? if so ....with heat/power etc I wonder if that is warranty is robust enough of only 90 days? (then again KNC has a 1 year warranty but basically have closed shop so maybe don't matter much...if you can't get help ) ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) I am trying to figure out if the new 3.9-4.9c 6 mo residential rate in my area is real and not a gimmick and if yes, how to get out of my current 10c rate with still two-three months to go. i will probably have to endure as it costs $150 to cancel. Where in MO is that rate being offered? I was not aware of anything like that in the area. Thanks if you do share ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) ... please ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) ^^^^I did, just above your post

I guess people are still speculating on the BTC value going up to 600s? I don't know, it just seem like there's a world of difference between the perceived value of the miners. I think i'm part of the logic/pragmatic side; "Okay so it will most likely take 6+ months to break even before considering price/diff fluctuation and electricity cost. Yeah no, pass." Versus; "A new miner? Omg i throw money at screen but its not shipping out any faster ![Cry](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cry.gif) ." Meanwhile i'll put a sidehack stick in my Luci open-wrt router and bam! AntRouter!? lol, I don't think that he will market it as such.
