7781  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin 5 years from now on: June 24, 2014, 12:01:43 AM
What if it not gonna exist anymore? What if goverment gets mad cuz they can't fully control Bitcoin, so they will try to  shut it down for example Shocked
Shutting down bitcoin isn't possible. The closest you can get is to be like china and suggest against using it.
That or shutting down internet privacy by closing communciation structures to the world wide web and regionalizing internet signals
With a strong node control

Still infeasible though but would not say impossible in the long future.

• We have also received inquires for exclusive partnerships from two different known parties in the mining space, and at least one of them is seriously considered at the moment.

What does this mean? Exclusive partnership for all mining, I.e. dtma?

It might mean diversifying their supply lanes so that their chips come from multiple manufacturers instead of just one of them.
The mining sphere does change now and then
7783  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Argentina Debt Crisis: U.S. Demands 1.5 billion cash (Bitcoin to Rescue?) on: June 23, 2014, 11:56:58 PM
Western Union now prohibits sending money to the USA from Argentina, so Bitcoin may be the only way out.

That would make sense since they need money to prevent their currency collapsing and are shutting out all the channels
In my opinion though you are right to get money out of that country you would use Bitcoin
Getting money in is easier though lol.
7784  Economy / Economics / Re: How to strengthen a country's currency? on: June 23, 2014, 11:55:42 PM
The whole money creation process through debt is the root cause of most systemic problem with our economies. The fact that each dollar have an expiration date (conceptually) is the fundamental reason why the economy is so weak.

Yep this is a battle between nations in the sense that the weakest country currencies will collapse given time and their is an ongoing battle between the countries and their currency systems.

But the question is how to strengthen one I guess an expansion is how to strengthen each countries economies globally.
7785  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does martingale really works? on: June 23, 2014, 11:52:58 PM
Yeah it always fails in the end.  I used doge-dice for awhile and and used really small percentage of my total, but eventually the house always wins.  It can take a long time though if you use really small percentages of your total.  I got over half a million bets before going bust.

Yah its easy to test a martingale stategy with dogecoins since there are so many of those Smiley
Although not sure what sites you can use now that doge-dice is closed for a while.
7786  Economy / Economics / Re: The light bulb conspiracy. Planned obsolescence. on: June 23, 2014, 09:30:15 PM
I was a software engineer at a company about 20 years ago that had a piece of code in the EPROM that would make a multi-million dollar industrial machine fail on a certain date. I often went out on field calls to simply update these EPROMs with a new "fail date". I wasn't allowed to tell the customer what I was really doing. Horrible boss too.

WOW, that is even worse than the printer ink scam that they talk about in the documentary!

That seems to be worth sharing in my opinion as well and yah if all it takes is resetting a counter to 0 to get a machine working that seems pretty crummy in my opinion.
Well as they say knowledge is power and money if the other person doesn't know

Watched the video and it does look like Cartels do control the market
By determining fixed lifespans and getting a consensus the market will be forced to adjust to this behavior and change their purchases.

It does make me wonder though if a lightbulb can go 100 to 200 years by changing it's design then wouldn't that also apply to LED and Mercury bulbs or the more efficient lightbulb design.

This is the same country that requires pixels on people's genitals in porn Tongue

Yet they're just getting around to banning child porn now. Although the article says it was also banned in 1999?

Well Japan is pretty crazy Tongue and yes >_< I hate them for censoring porn, especially when you take into account that Japanese girls are the ones I like the most! OVERTHROW THE JAPANESE GOVERNMENT! VIVA LA REVOLUTION!

anyway why they must be sensor  Grin

Japan bans child pornography possession
i agree with this because child still pure, need more parental guarding and they still can't decide the way of life
If Japan do not ban child pornography, it will significantly decreasing morale of Japanase

Was a bit curious why you wrote it in Comic Sans (Yes it got my attention lol)

As in regards to the CP that part is fine but

I don't buy into that protectionist line of reason that seems to be suggested it is the same rabbit hole that leads to tire swings, wooden bridges you cross and those things you spin around really fast and ride on getting obsoleted in replacement for *safer* alternatives

If you don't have some light scrapes when your young learning not to be too reckless, you tend to be more reckless later so learning when its just a boo boo makes more sense to me than learning it far too late where it could hurt you more because you didn't learn that going too fast hurts when your a kid Smiley (or you get dizzy if you walk in circles and let that chain spin up on the tire swing ^_^)
But that is an aside about playground equipment.

Monitor observe and help not cordone helicopter over and trap in a protective bubble. In terms of parental guarding and that purity B/S let them learn their life lessons but help them out (Thinking Boy Meets World and Fini or Cory's parents not interfering to much but always there for advice and help and to assist if they run into an issue that they can't overcome alone)
At least that is what I think the right philosophy would be

In regards to anime and manga as long as we have Touhou and the Kagerou Project (vid below) (Metaku City Actors for those who want to see the anime)
And creative freedom to create engaging stories I don't mind just want to make sure there is no spillover effects in the law and that's where I would draw the line.

I am a big fan of anime and manga so it may come as no surprise that I am a bit placid on this law since it opens the door to arresting people who have doujins and similar fan works, the Japanese anime and manga industry is world wide and very popular so I feel it is not in our jurisdiction to set an agenda of censorship on their works.

Simply put it may be off the agenda for now but I'm sure at some point in the future someone somewhere will push this envelope further.

My concern is that they will kill the Visual Novel industry and the Clannad, Air, Little Busters, School Days Higurashi type of series because the protagonist is a teenager etc.
Or the anime industry just because it has a few fan service scenes like the Onsen (Hot Springs) or Swimsuit episodes lol.
Think of the Virtual Children line of logic.

As you can tell I have a pro Japan and anti censorship agenda so my response is FU western sensibilities its not your right to impose a set of beliefs on another country, especially one that has a lot more creativity in story line and depth.

Example: Elfen Lied, Gundam (Seed Mode) , Seikoku no Dragonar , No Game No Life, Black Bullet Eden of the East just to name a few would fall under that for nudity if that law was expanded which are great series.

As to the BBC note that it would impinge on freedom of expression and allow authorities to make arbitrary decisions about art it does have the potential to do so, due to increasing regulation so I hope it does not change the culture around the industry and works are still created freely without fear of prosecution, we need creative artists and Japan is one of the few that allows all areas of thought even those consider Taboo in Western societies to be developed into interesting and engaging storylines.

Molester Man anyone ^_^ (http://www.batoto.net/comic/_/comics/molester-man-r7471) One of my favorite mangas its damn Good.

Just my 2 cents on this.

Oh and One more thing Death to ISHIHARA! (For those that get the Tokyo reference)

Make that two

7792  Bitcoin / Press / 2014-06-19 Japan Ruling Party to Hold Off Regulating Bitcoin WSJ on: June 22, 2014, 04:02:15 AM
TOKYO—Japan is likely to stop short of regulating bitcoin after a ruling-party panel looking into issues surrounding the virtual currency decided that no legislation was needed for now.

Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's Liberal Democratic Party also said Thursday that no single government agency should be appointed to oversee the digital currency. Instead, it called for self-regulation by those involved in trading in bitcoin, as the party seeks to nurture the fledgling industry.

Thanks a lot! Right now we have French and English. Spanish is next!

Well actually someone made a site in Spanish that does that but your right it would be nice to have one in flyer form

Thanks for sharing this looks like a nice flyer you should contact the Bitcoin car that is traveling around Canada and the US and have them distribute a few.

Exchange feedback/comments

Fix that API software so that the bots don't crash the server so often

Perhaps include a DRIP option for some funds that pay dividends like btct used to for different funds.
7795  Economy / Speculation / Re: What will Satoshi do with his stash? on: June 22, 2014, 03:36:21 AM
I too have been puzzled if Satoshi will ever use his coins he may someday start removing some amount of it perhaps more in 10 to 20 years once Bitcoin volume is stable and there are a lot of users when it wouldn't make as big an impact.

That said I don't think he would scare the system by making giant transactions.
They are Satoshi's coins and he is free to spend them and he is smart enough to not collapse the system with that many BTC
7796  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Government on: June 22, 2014, 03:31:34 AM
Recently we have seen a lot of government failures and scandals.
What is your opinion, do we need the government or not?

We need the government but the extent to which we need it is debatable
I don't mind if they set standards safety regulations giving people jobs building infrastructure.

The question is when they start invading privacy and monitoring every piece of information.
Some government is ok but like all things too much is bad for you and too little as well although I am referring to a federal government
Territorial/State Provincial governments are different than a municipal one so it matters what type of government the OP had in mind.

I assume the Federal one.
7797  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Jeff Garzik's Bitcoin Balance Revealed on: June 22, 2014, 03:07:21 AM
He confirmed to me, it's 348 bitcoins.

https://twitter.com/jgarzik/status/480477929160208384

Damn, I was really thinking he got 348k  Shocked

Tell him to go store it at just-dice or something he has a way to go to 348 K Bitcoins but I like round numbers should go for 2 more haha

That said he still has a lot more than me less than I expected but 348*600 = 208,000
Enough to purchase a small house at least.
7798  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin hater contradicted by page he posted on? on: June 22, 2014, 03:02:09 AM

But after I read the article, I noticed something funny... On the right-hand column of the page, near the bottom of the article's text, was a little box entitled "The Quotable Mises" that features a random Ludwig von Mises quote each time you load the page. And what did the quote say?

"Only stilted pedants can conceive the idea that there are absolute norms to tell what is beautiful and what is not. They try to derive from the works of the past a code of rules with which, as they fancy, the writers and artists of the future should comply. But the genius does not cooperate with the pundit." -- Ludwig von Mises

 Ha! Smiley

Nice, now that is an example of class

I give the Ludwig Von Mises quote a thumbs up and am honestly surprised that the Mises Institute would throw a negative on this.
They may not be Ludwig but they need to reanalyze it.

Brilliant Economist though and that's a great quote ^_^.
Satoshis spirit channeled through Ludwig on that one

Mine was

The Quotable Mises

7799  Economy / Economics / Re: How to strengthen a country's currency? on: June 22, 2014, 02:56:02 AM
I would really like to know the best way to strengthen a country's currency.
Increase in it's import or export?
Please share some good ideas.

Back it with bitcoins.

That is an interesting idea unlike gold and silver reserves a Bitcoin address is publicly verifiable and accessible
As long as individuals know the Bitcoin address they can see that their is a reserve available.

I am not certain if that would give Bitcoin an official currency status though which may raise a few legal issues but it is a unique approach that a digital economy provides

Verified reserves visible to all and secure from attack seems like a win win win.
7800  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Silkcoin - *self-moderated* - Discussion thread about the Silkcoin eco-system on: June 22, 2014, 12:40:41 AM
I haven't heard of Silk coin before is this a coin for the Silk Road or something
Would like a bit more information about what it is about etc.

Form the White paper I see it uses a swarm network but how does that operate.
As a storage mechanism or differently?
BitTorrent protocol files are divided into pieces and the torrent file is used to check the integrity of the hashes.
