781  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can't launch poclbm on MAC OSX! on: June 13, 2011, 12:56:36 AM
Well maybe I don't understand where the file is supposed to be but I'm sure that bitcoinminer.cl is in the poclbm file (In "Applications") where all the other files are (bitcoinminer.py, bitcoinminer.pyc, poclbm. py, etc.). So, what is the issue here?

Thanks,

Jean.

I don't use mac, but try running as admin? (or the eqiv thereof)
782  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can't launch poclbm on MAC OSX! on: June 13, 2011, 12:38:54 AM
You don't have OpenCL installed.

Search online for how to download and install OpenCL on your mac.

Nope, that's not it. He's just missing BitcoinMiner.cl.
783  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can't post?? on: June 13, 2011, 12:29:46 AM
Ok, seems i can only post in this forum now - I get a:

Database Error
Please try again. If you come back to this error screen, report the error to an administrator.

if i try posting in any other forum. Whats up with that?

Also got this:

An Error Has Occurred!
You already submitted this post! You might have accidently double clicked, or tried to refresh.

when trying to post in here just now too.

trying again..

Yeah your posts should still show up, it's happening to me aswell.
784  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: phoenix on FirePro v7800 and quad core Core i5 gives 5.5 Mhash/sec on: June 12, 2011, 03:27:35 PM
Yes, I did install the AMDAPPSDK. I ran the setup as for a normal ATI card, it even lists the ATI card.

Try using poclbm, see if it lists it.
785  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Stale / rejected share rate? on: June 12, 2011, 03:27:11 PM
Hi all -

This isn't the best sub-forum for this, but its the only place I can post right now.

I've been running my miner in Slush's pool since the early hours of the morning at approx 420Mhash/sec

I now have 4005 accepted shares and 89 rejected.

Those 89 rejected / stale shares are the equivalent of 2.25% of all shares.

Been fairly new I'm wondering if that is an acceptable rate?

I know the difference between stale and plain bad shares, but using Phoenix I don't think there's anyway to differentiate between the two.

How many stale / bad / rejected shares do you get?

Do you think I need to worry about 2.25% and if so could I improve the situation any?

It seems a shame to burn electricity on rejected shares if I can do something about it, even if its only a few...

Cheer

That's not bad, but it's not the best either. Try turning your fans up or trying a different pool.
786  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Advice on increasing MHash rates on: June 12, 2011, 03:25:55 PM
Hello all,

I'm currently mining with a 4890 @100MHash/s, abysmal I know. So I am looking at expanding my setup. My current motherboard only has one PCIe slot that the 4890 is occupying. I was thinking either just replacing it with a 6970 to get 400MHash/s (my goal BTW, at least initially) or replacing the motherboard with one that has 3 PCIe's and grabbing a 6870. Use both the 6870 and 4890 to mine and I should end up with around the same 400MHash/s rate. Thoughts on which to go with? Or if you have a better idea I'm open to suggestions. Thanks!

Shows you can get 108mh/s with that 4890. Just replace it.

Hi,

I set up phoenix on Linux and get only 5.5 Mhash/sec. It is using all 4 CPU cores. I guess it is not using the GPU at all.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

THanks

Can't see it on the list of mining hardware, I would say it wasn't compatible. But try installing the AMDAPPSDK and running phoenix again.

Thanks for your help. I finally received my payment after 5 hours.

No prob, don't thank, donate Wink < Try to make that rhyme in your head. I couldn't.
789  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Pool Down - Work lost? on: June 12, 2011, 02:36:27 PM
When a pool is down, does my hash rate essentially go wasted, or when the pool goes back up, will my work (that was done when the pool was down) be counted and create bitcoins?  Basically is my work lost, or does it get counted once the server goes back up?

If you wanna make sure this never happens, check my sig. BitMiner has full failover support.
790  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Mining with CPU on: June 12, 2011, 02:32:50 PM
Hey Guys,

Is there a program that lets you mine in BTCMine with your CPU and you get decent Mhash/s and you dont have to stop GPU mining?

It seems weird that a CPU is more powerful than a GPU yet my 5870 can get 400Mhash/s were my i7 930 @ 4.2Ghz only gets 5Mhash/s Sad

Thanks

Mik

This one: http://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1925.0

I get a error message saying "application has stopped" working when I open it Sad

Also, how many MHash/s could I get out my CPU with that prog?

Mik

7 at the max.

It seems to be buggy, and is very vulnerable.

How is it very vulnerable?

Servers are using outdated software and i've personally found several persistent XSS exploits.

792  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Make client see wallet in different place? on: June 12, 2011, 02:17:52 PM
thanks!

another noobstrike:

Should the path end with the exact bitcoin folder or the root?
for example should I write
O:\
or
O:\Bitcoin

No Idea, just do O:\ and see if it creates another dir in it etc. then tweak it to your needs.
793  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Make client see wallet in different place? on: June 12, 2011, 02:08:19 PM
Is it possible to make the client use the wallet in a different place than user/name/appdata/roaming?

I think for security reasons obviously. I'm talking about truecrypt.

Or am I better off just pasting the wallet to the encrypted container after every use and delete it from appdata/roaming each time? It seems a bit primitive that way but still.

Yep, start bitcoin.exe with -datadir <folder>

GPU's a made for different things. They are only made to handle a certain amount of things, but the things that they can handle, they are VERY good at. One of those is hashing.
795  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: MyBitcoin SCI on: June 12, 2011, 01:57:46 PM
Hi,

Does anyone know what is wrong with the MyBitcoin SCI? I only get the message "Data is missing. Aborting!" evertime I want to make a payment.

Thank you,

Hamburger

I would recommend trying to get all your coins out of there at once. It seems to be buggy, and is very vulnerable.

797  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Has anyone tried mining with PS3? on: June 12, 2011, 01:16:57 PM
SHA256 relies solely on integer arithmetic, while the PS3 GPU is tailored for floating point arithmetic.
You won't get a very good hashrate.
Same problem with the Nvidia GPUs.

The hypervisor blocks access to the GPU when using linux anyway.
798  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: deepbit issues on: June 12, 2011, 01:15:53 PM
so it seems now ive been restricted to here so i have to start a new thread rather than being able to post in the appropriate thread but hey, does anyone know if deepbit is having issues/attacks again, my miner keeps dropping out to work queue empty and i have to restart it

Yep, it's being DDoS'ed again. Switch pools if you want to.
799  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: My bitcoins are lost on: June 12, 2011, 01:14:14 PM
still haven't got my bitcoins

What was the bitcoin address you sent them to?

deepbit automatically send to the address below which is mybitcoin.com address
1KYJn6YmEw7H5dfvxpegpXqFracHN8NTQd

You sure?

Code:
First seen?: Never used on the network (as far as I can tell)
Received transactions: 0
Received BTC: 0

This is the address provided by mybitcoin.com and i am sure i did not copy and paste wrongly

PM Tycho and see if the transaction went through at that end.
