most of the coins generated by my wallet are not accepted (I guess that's what's called orphan blocks?), why is that, will this get improved?

Maybe you have high latency due to bad connection that gives you disadvantage while synchronisation!?!?

On my side I have about 5% rejection ratio and I think this is quite normal. Also mostly I get 0.0X to 0.00X BTCD income from stacking  Sad Is this normal?

wow ok only 5% rejection this is a big difference to what I get. My internet connection is not too fast (12MBit/s) and I was thinking of switching to a faster one, do you really think it's the reason or could it be something else? cuz in that case I would really switch my connection, me want to have more BTCD Grin Grin

edit: I also get 0.0x BTCD with about 2000BTCD in the wallet.

I think relevant is not throughput, but latency (ping). Maybe someone else has an idea concerning the rejection ratio what could be crux of the matter...

However, with 2k BTCD and currently about  ~5% interest / year you'd ideally get about ~0.27 BTCD per day  Undecided.

thanks for the info! I guess I would get 0.27 BTCD per day if all the mined coins were accepted (I meant 0.0x for each successful mining). I tested my connection now and I get a ping time of 46ms, is that too slow? If somebody can be sure this is the reason for the low success rate then I would really get a faster connection even if it's more expensive.
(cuz BTCD worth it Grin)

edit: retested ping, it takes even 60ms sometimes..

I think your ping is quite normal. But I would let the experts (devs?) judge here, but I see nothing really abnormal concerning ping. Also Im new to the PoS used here, so I cannot really help.

BTW I got us to the listing here (theres not much I can do, but I try what I can  Grin): https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=568166.0

BTW2: Why the hell is everybody selling? I am HODLing Kiss

This market is way to easy to manipulate.  I wanted to buy more this morning and I didn't like the price at 150k, I placed a sell order at 160k and moved it down a bit, my orders at 140k were filled within an hour  Wink

Hi

I want to trade cryptocurrencies. I am new in it. I think that it is good idea to buy monero...
What do you think? Will it grow?
Thank you

you are new and you found your way here? wow, that makes you lucky, i think you should be 888 xmr. do it now.

Latest update from the Vert dev (in reddit):-

So, what takes so long?

Good morning Vertans,
Many people have posted that changes are coming two slow. Why? Two reasons:
1.) As I have said before, the changes are significant, non-trivial and need to be thoroughly tested.
2.) There are many changes in the hopper that would all require a hardfork if we move forward with them. Rather than hardfork many times we would prefer to make all those changes in a single release. Now, there may not be a way around needing a couple widely spaced hard forks, but for now we are trying to consolidate.
The changes we (community and devs) are debating include block maturity, subsidy changes, algorithm changes and a potential change to a new block difficulty algorithm I designed called Furnace.
Talk is cheap - I hear you. The flip side is a shitty, costly release because we rushed.
Keep your eyes peeled for more votes and discussion.
Cheers!

That all sounds very good and interesting, but what about timing?

Look, the way I see it, as long as the devs are working at it, and they stand to gain too from a price rise, then its worth the wait.

Use this opportunity to buy more.

Why? Simple.

Very few coins actually have devs that know what they are doing. These guys know what they are doing, they just need to figure out the best direction, then work can start.

Well this is taking rather surprisingly long to do.
I'ts not like it has 5 million lines of code.

devising attack vectors on code and trying to find weakness is time consuming....

devising attack vectors - that doesn't sound right. you're at RC4, about to go live and doing this now? So is there RC5?

Wasn't that the point of distributed master nodes and their 1,000 DRKs, plus owners encouraged to avoid them if they didn't know anything about ddos and recovering nodes, to avoid attacks being meaningful?

I'm long dark as well as few others in the anon space, but this doesn't sound right.

seems like you did not read the development notes:

https://darkcointalk.org/threads/development-updates-july-15th.1788/

before we opensource we need to make sure there are no weak spots in the code, thats what kristov atlas is doing, thats what people in this channel have been donating to him to do...

you sound like i just pulled a bag over your head...

no. i got my edit in first  Tongue

Wafflepool has finished making Exe coin it's bitch. It's back to VTC Sad

We seriously need some more buy support. I'm in about as much as I can go. Seeing these prices is making me want more but cooler heads must prevail.

Just bought around 4000 verts and propably going up till 9000 slowly Tongue

I also stacked few VTC because price is still cheap.
Now is the time to do it, i don't see it dropping even more.

Im holding more than 4700 VTC!
I only have around 200 because i invested when they were high and currently low on funds, i do believe in this coin and that it can actually grow into a decent price, highly traded, respected coin.

Going on 16 hours withdrawal from Poloniex to BTER...anyone else having similar issues?

I have now sent support tickets to both exchanges   Huh

ahhh great, so Poloniex API has been sending out transactions without Payment ID, even if you input everything correctly. So now my account wont be credited on BTER and Poloniex can't man up to the mistake and send me a duplicate tx. 100 XMR is effectively lost in the ether.

Stay away from Poloniex, what a bunch of amateurs  Undecided

The coins will have arrived in BTER's wallet. Make sure you provide their support with the transaction ID (TXID) and hopefully, given the circumstances, they'll credit your account. Since they will actually have your coins, they just won't know who's they are.

Don't give up just yet: all is not lost

maybe a bit harsh. on balance I would rather have the bugs all identified before go live, then split out those that are needed before open source, and those bugs that are fixable later.

Please do not change Block Maturation  Angry
See the Market reaction. It's dumping now.

Only the PoW algo needs to evolve to keep vertcoin Asic resistance.

I think a regular algo change is the way to go to beat ASICs.

Up on release of event, down soon after.
Only because the masses view the recent releases as failures. Because the masses are stupid as fuck.

And the trolls supporting their interests elsewhere or sent here from competitors to push down the price.

I'm holding several crypto bags, so I try to keep up with several threads. You had one persistent troll here recently, turns out he is an avid supporter of xmr. I hate that shit, even if I have a really big bag of xmr.

I get really pissed off with this shit. All its does is diminish crypto in general.

Announcement

It is with the greatest of pleasure that I announce my newest start-up venture.

Trading will start once RC4 is released. We are currently working on a business plan to finalize all the great services we will be looking to offer.

 Shocked

Intriguing does not qualify as a strong enough adjective.

now that's funny.

The Kristov Atlas - Audit is good news.

Nevertheless whats with Maxwell? I thought we have him too on our schedule?

No. Some people asked him to, but he never agreed to anything. Kristov Atlas alone is good enough for me.

Kristov is all you need. he makes his living off crypto security, so he won't want to tarnish his reputation with fanboy reviews.

whats the view on anon coins and the proposed NY regulations?  If they get applied there, it won't be long before other states copy them and apply them.

there is a section, s200, on those that issue, administer and control coins needing to register for licences.

Monero is not aiming to be in compliance with the regulations I suppose Wink

edit: however, this could mean that the devs (if their identities will be known) could possibly not be allowed to enter the US.  Undecided
Don't know if this also would apply to David, the spokesman...

Is a negative response towards anonymous currencies from governments and law enforcement a threat to Monero? How will Monero respond to criticism of anonymity?

David – First by not being anonymous if you don’t want to. Monero is private by default, optionally transparent (just like cash!) – the details of individual transactions, or even of an entire wallet, can be revealed publicly or privately. Plus, the developpers are publicly accessible. You can Google my name and the French and South Africa governments could knock at our door if they need someone to talk to. We play fair with everyone, governments included.

Many are concerned, especially mining pools

How could a single unit of something be so valuable?.... How could a single BTC have the purchasing power of 100K dollars?

How can a single metric tonne of gold be worth so much?

In some countries, like India, gold is part of daily life and built into some aspects of religious and culture displays of faith, status and acknowledgement or reinforcement of social connections. Therefore, the price of gold is driven by the need imperative to buy gold jewellery.

We need to make Bitcoin part of all religions or social displays ( Grin). BTC donations at the end of sermons, BTC as birthday presents, BTC as dowry, etc. 1 BTC for the boatman.

The scarcity and high price of BTC is the thing that would ironically reinforce its desirability, and the circular path is laid.

Where do you need to cross a river frequently? I want to be your boatman  Grin

797  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Vertcoin - First Scrypt N | First Stealth Address - Privacy without mixer on: July 20, 2014, 10:23:24 AM
Ironically the only way to mine Vertcoin directly and profitably now is with a Scrypt-N ASIC.  One supplier is quoting 2.5MH/s for 18W (yes W not kW).  This wouldn't be the first time doggedly sticking to ideology was the instrument of downfall.  The coin needs more fundamental rethought than the devs are prepared to offer.

I was looking at the price chart and thinking the same thing. Right now, you need ASICs to mine because the power cost is too high.
798  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Vertcoin - First Scrypt N | First Stealth Address - Privacy without mixer on: July 20, 2014, 10:20:17 AM

And what we have:
scrypt-n: more power consumption, hot cards (70-80C) , lower profit
x: less power consumption, lower temps (50-60C), better profit

That's why many miners don't want back to mine vertcoin directly. Right now Scrypt-n is very expensive for us.

And now you can again talk about "I dont understand why people belive in magic x11/x13/x15 colder and energy saver algo. It's just modified Intensity and lower hashrate thats all. You can lower your intensity with the same effect. They washed our brains" Wink

All cards is 7970, not nvidia, and they are in downclock.

If my thoughts are wrong, guys, correct me, please.

So, we shouldn't be offended for the facts...

N-Scrypt + X11 multi PoW (as multi PoW was announced by developers as possible solution in general)
- should be used ASAP to save the Vertcoin competitiveness for miners, because now it is really affected

Numbers never lie...

this sounds interesting.

actually, this coin should have its own anti-ASIC strategy to stand out.

x11 PoW and PoS and 12 month hard fork algo tweak.

1. energy saving PoW to secure the network
2. use PoS for transaction speed, and
3. use PoS to facilitate 12 monthly algo tweak.

You can build all the ASICs you want, but it takes ~6 months to get one, another ~6months to sell them, but in that time you won't have time to make money from it. ROI would be -$$$$$

IMO, massive LTC -> DRK after RC4.
DRK is already better than LTC, why do you think post RC4 will be the inrush?

So far DRK has gone up and down around release events and news events.

Up on release of event, down soon after.  When there is no event, the price slides.

After RC4, code audit and surviving assault after assault from competitors trying to break the anonymity, the big players and those who seek anonymity for all manner of reasons will move in and buy up as much DRK as they can. Only then will the price free float according to real market forces and not traders moving around from coin to coin looking to make some quick and easy cash.
