781  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How do you use your free bets to ensure result on: October 28, 2023, 07:19:59 PM
Honestly I've still never figured out how to properly use the "free money" that is given out at different gambling houses/online casinos etc.  Typically when I sign up these newer online casinos tend to have an extra bonus for using bitcoin as your means of payment (bovada is a big one that does this).  I always end up just losing it because I can't seem to withdraw it even after using those funds to make several bets.  So I'm typically careless with it.

( could you ever bet millions if you had it? )
I think so, why not? Since the essential rule of betting only what you can afford to lose is followed, there aren't any issues... For someone who has millions or billion of dollars, to lose few millions on bets isn't going to prejudice their financial lives considerably. It's just a recoverable sum of money they can make once again after a month or so, therefore it's the determined budget they have to gamble, accepting the possibility of losing it meanwhile, without further prejudice.

I am with you on this.  If I had the money, what's a few million when you've got millions of dollars saved up from your career as well as your gambling winnings.

I appreciate everyone else joining in on the discussion.  I remember seeing this guy and stories about him when the hated Astros won the World Series and seeing how much money he won.  He seems like a grump old man but I guess good for him.  Unless he was a sleezy mattress salesman which I guess I doubt.
783  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are you a Top-down or Bottom-up bettor? on: October 28, 2023, 07:10:35 PM
I do a lot more sports betting than I do of any other type of gambling.  For me betting NFL Football is my favorite type of gambling.  I guess I'm embarrassed to say that I don't do either Top-down or Bottom-up gambling, as I just use my knowledge of the game and make bets based off of that.  I am pretty obsessive when it comes to the NFL, I have 6 fantasy football teams/leagues and I watch all day long every Sunday, so I do pretty well all things considered.  I should look in to this to give myself an advantage.
784  Economy / Economics / Re: World Debt Clock by nations. on: October 26, 2023, 07:45:12 PM
I remember seeing this "debt clock" for the first time a few years ago.  I wonder how accurate it truly is.  That being said I actually just had a discussion with a client the other day about the US national debt.  I stated to her that "US treasury bonds are considered the safest investment on the planet".  She sort of fired back "Oh I don't know, we have more debt that anyone /any country in the world".

What many fail to understand is this is the case because the US has the worlds best economy by far, therefore are able to have such high debt (not that I don't think it should be lowered as is getting a bit out of control).

Putting the money your father saved for you in to any kind of investment other than some basic high earning savings account would have been the wrong move and completely disrespectful of your fathers hard work.  What would you have done had you lost the money, or it dwindled in half?

Here in the United States we have what's called 529 college savings plans.  This is something perhaps your father/family should look in to.  Depending on what country you live in, you might have something similar.
786  Economy / Gambling discussion / "Mattress Mack" loses nearly 10 million dollars on Astros Loss on: October 26, 2023, 07:39:55 PM
Most of you probably aren't familiar with this man, but he's pretty popular here in the United States, known for making monster bets on his favorite baseball team, the Houston Astros ( also the most hated team in America being that they were caught cheating  during their World Series win a few years back).

I saw a video of someone giving him shit and him stacking "fuck you, fuck you" left and right back at the man.  This guy seems to lose his cool quite a bit.  He seems like an old fart but if you look up his history, he's bet millions upon millions of dollars, both winning and losing TONS of money.

Here's the recent bet/story ( could you ever bet millions if you had it? )

787  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sports bets or in-house games, which is best for the weekend. on: October 26, 2023, 07:34:11 PM
Hey, fellow gamblers so I have some free time for the coming weekend and I want to spend it with family and also enjoy some games,  I want maximum entertainment and fun to ease me off the stress.

My challenge is, I have limited funds to spend on gambling for the weekend so I have to be very accurate and certain about what I will be spending my money on this weekend, and I am confused about which of the games to go for.

weekends are for football matches, where I can watch the games,  make analyses and stake my bets along that line,  which have always been the usual rutin for all.

Also in house games are also very exciting and entertaining since I will be in control of the games and their potential outcomes keeping in mind the possibility of the house edge,  so this brought me to this confusing position between which of the both to choose from and so I will like to get individual opinions on the best games for the weekend.

Sport bets vs in-house games which is most enjoyable and has a higher tendency of bringing much winning compared to it possibility of losing?

Well I would say it all has to do with your level of skill for each game type.  For me, when it comes to "in-house" games, I excel at Texas Hold'em ( or poker ) as well as roulette and several other skill card games.  But I excel more when it comes to betting NFL football.  I have a better understanding of it, plus there's a better percentage chance of me winning a bet (which is 50/50) versus sitting at a poker table with 10 other players trying to be the last man standing.

So many good players with duds this week costing managers big time since we had like 6 teams on bye and points were needed.
Lol, I played three of those players last week, Gabe Davis, Ekeler and Robinson.

Finally my record is aligning more closely with my performance as a manager, however when looking to the previous season compared to this one I think the main problem is that I get no consistency out of my players, last year I could very much play the same squad week after week and still get top performance and this allowed me to do almost nothing and just enjoy the ride.

But this season even if my players still give good performances they are inconsistent, then one week I get Robinson with a great week, but the next week he drops the ball and the one with a good performance is Harris and this gives me a lot of trouble as I am unable to select my optimal lineup.

Well that's fantasy football for ya.  Nearly 20 years of experience now and every single season is a bit different.  That being said I do feel like I'm a bit cursed, the last few seasons I've had horrible luck when it comes to players getting injured.  It's one thing to lose a player for a few weeks, but losing a star player for the entire year within the first couple weeks..brutal.

Decently interesting game tonight.  The Bills should wax the Bucs, but there's some fun star power/fantasy relevant guys playing, so it'll keep my interest at least.  Not sure the Bills will cover the high spread though.
789  Economy / Economics / Re: How do you manage your finances and family if your income is low range? on: October 25, 2023, 06:35:45 PM
There's some good information in this post and then there's some bad information, or misinformation.  I have to ask, how did you select these people and the "advice" they are giving?

As a licensed financial advisor of close to 20 years now, I would highly recommend NOT taking advice from anyone you don't know their educational background of when it comes to finances.  I can't tell you how many clients have taken "advice" from friends/family/co-workers that has come back to bite them in the butt.

One thing I did notice and is absolutely correct...budgeting is your first step.  The first calculator on this page is a great monthly budgeting tool- https://www.empower.com/learning_center/calculators/index.shtml?_gl=1*7ilj50*_ga*MTk5MDIyODk4NS4xNjk4MjU4NzQw*_ga_MDRRLSW4FM*MTY5ODI1ODc0MC4xLjEuMTY5ODI1ODc0NC41Ni4wLjA.#/

If anyone would like some help with their finances, from a financial advisor, I'm happy to help..just shoot me a DM.

This is rich coming from a company with one of the earths biggest scumbags to ever live, a guy whos uses things to cheat and scam people left and right, a guy who also SUPPORTS bitcoin and other types of cryptocurrency.  Zuckerberg has like a goat named bitcoin, something like that.

I have several posts about bitcoin that have not been deleted.  Is there an official statement about this anywhere??
791  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: October 25, 2023, 06:28:17 PM
@ChiBitCTy. Agreed! The Dolphins offense is clearly one of the best and the most risk taking in the NFL, however, Eagles defensive team might be enough to stop some them from scoring many points. Also, I heard the comment that the Eagles are having difficulties in the redzone and this is true, however, he did not say that the Dolphins are also one of the worst in defending in the redzone hehehee.

In any case, there was a turn over for Miami as I create this post hehe.

Also, I have my 2nd win in fantasy! I am very happy with this hehehe. I still have chance to enter playoffs!

Miami got hit really hard with injuries to their offensive line.  No line no running game or enough time to protect the qb long enough for route trees to finish.  Miami depends on a lot of time for these things to come together.  I like their offense but if their line can't hold up achane will have issues too once he comes back.

Yeah I'm not sure I'm feeling the Dolphins as much as I was now.  Their defense isn't the greatest either and seems to falter against pretty tough teams.

While I did have a solid victory in this league, finally, I also went 5 for 6 in all of my fantasy football leagues this week.  However when it comes to my bets, let just say I had for too much faith in the Detroit Lions.  I should know better being that my team is also in the NFC North.

Lol yeah that was a complete dud.  In terms of betting I can't nail down the nfc north or the nfc south.  Just can't figure those teams out.  Seems like those divisions are wide open in terms of who will be hot come December.  It's been an odd year in terms of betting.  Less and less parity which seems to make the games more fun to watch.  Either that or I'm just getting worse at betting lol.

Well I can tell you one thing for sure, the Chicago Bears are not the best team in the NFC North, nor do they have any chance on gods green earth to make the playoffs lol.  That being said I am a bit surprised at their recent victories.  Honestly it's at a point right now where I can't help but root against them in hopes of getting those top picks.  That said, if Justin Fields ends up coming back and tearing it up..I'll have no problem with that.  Hell even if the Bears get the first pick, do they meet all of Caleb Williams qualifications (dude sounds ridiculous).
792  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will you gamble till old age or not on: October 25, 2023, 06:20:40 PM
My question is this, will you continue to gamble till old age, or you have planned to stop gambling at a certain age?

I'm unsure whether my answer will remain the same as I age, but I want to quit gambling before I turn 60. I understand that there might be a lot of free time during retirement, which could lead me to consider gambling again. I'm interested in finding out about other enjoyable activities since I'm unsure whether I'll still be able to visit the casino and gamble at that age or have the funds to do so.

Why would you select age 60?  I'm just curious.  I would say that if you aren't sure if you'll have the funds available at age 60, then maybe gambling right now is not quite such a good idea.  60 isn't really all that old either.  I understand peoples cognitive decline starts to kick in around that age, but most people in their 60's are just as sharp as they were in their 50's or perhaps even 40's.
793  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Just like visiting a cinema on: October 25, 2023, 06:18:26 PM
I'd say this is pretty good advice overall.  Honestly it makes me wonder what percentage of people whom gamble end up becoming addicted to gambling.  Going about it as you propose is a smart way to at minimum start gambling.  This way when/if you lose, it's a short term thing with a small loss that's nice sizable to your monthly income.  Stay safe out there all.
794  Economy / Economics / Re: What does being rich mean in your perspective? on: October 24, 2023, 04:44:36 PM
Happiness is how I determine being rich.  If money isn't important to you, and you have most of the things/possessions you want, I feel that you can still determine that as being "rich", just in a bit different of a way.

In economic terms, it all depends on where you live in the world.  In some places a million dollars is an extremely large amount of money, in other's it's not very much.  So it all comes down do regional location.  Then what city/state/providence you live in.  Also your portfolio holdings and current job all factor in.
795  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why has Bitcoin skyrocketed recently? on: October 24, 2023, 04:42:00 PM
It's been pretty fun watching bitcoin skyrocket at the moment.  Having been around since bitcoin was in the 100's of dollars range, going all the way to 70k, to 20k, now up around 34k, it's been one wild ride!

But as many others have already stated, it mostly has to do with the ETF news. It looks like BlackRock will be one of a handful of financial fund companies to open up their own spot bitcoin ETF's.  I'm not sure if some realize how big of news this is!
796  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Not keeping records makes me a bad gambler? on: October 24, 2023, 04:36:45 PM
I wouldn't necessarily call someone whom doesn't keep their records a "bad gambler" , but I sure don't think it's a very smart thing to do.  I typically just play online gambling with the same couple casinos, so they tend to keep a ledger of your winnings/losings and for me that it good enough. I typically just analyze it once a year.  If I'm up for the year I'm happy, if I'm down, I might be a bit more cautious the next year.
797  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What's your nice hit to leave the casino. on: October 24, 2023, 04:33:47 PM
I just make sure to try and leave with more money than I came in with, but I always prepare myself to lose it all, because there's really no other way to go about that.

I typically am willing to blow 2-500 dollars, depending on the situation.  If I were to hit say somewhere around 10k, then I would leave the casino for good and for the weekend or whatever.  That's enough money to buy some nice things that I've got on my want list.

Complete pipe dream by that time frame. Here’s the thing I don’t think most people realize about that these batteries made for electric cars are also not good for the planet, they use up a lot resources to make them and I’m not so sure it’s all that much better or a deal at this moment in time or not (environmentally wise).

One day it’ll be all electric or we will learn how harness and store solar power for long periods of time.

None of you have any actually real clue as this is still a complete unknown, and in fact the likelihood that Satoshi was just one person is also absolutely impossible to prove. I’ve read every article ever written about this topic and there’s still no definitive way to make the call one way or another.  Who knows though, and I’m glad Satoshis identity is uknown. Way better that way.
