but haven't been able to fund it in any way that I consider civilized and trustworthy (except btc, of course,
What about redeemable codes?

What are they? Smiley It is something you can use for 10000s?
7802  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: March 22, 2013, 05:14:17 PM

What will the weekend bring?

I'm betting on stagnation. Monday will rock.

Yeah, the bid/ask volume speaks on behalf of a 48-hour consolidation around 65-70. Sucks that my money only arrives on tuesday, otherwise perfect setup...
7803  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: March 22, 2013, 03:25:59 PM
As for me, I couldn't care less if the price went down. I have tons of clients behind me waiting to get a piece of the action, which they cannot do right now due to the lag of KYC processing in the exchanges, lag in deposits, etc. The lower the better.

Cyprus will blow up anytime soon, you forgot.. Shocked
7804  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: March 22, 2013, 03:23:15 PM
I think they will be bought in 8 hours or so.

Any real reason to think that, or is it just a guess?

Estimate based on money flow to the exchanges. The sellers need to change their behavior if they want the price to keep stable. I don't except such sacrificial behavior from their part. The current 5-10% per day is sustainable for weeks if the demand grows as it has done since February.

The bottleneck is that we have too little capacity in the exchanges, plus people are rightfully afraid of them as they habitually steal customers' funds and btc. Therefore liquidity is bad. The big money cannot yet come in.

Otoh, Friday is usually a subpar day, I would give it a 30% chance that the wall in 74 will hold. Bitstamp will likely go berserk as usual when the Europeans get off work, eat their dinner and see their deposit cleared. It's been sluggish the whole day.
7805  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: March 22, 2013, 03:04:56 PM
Unless some of those sell walls are pulled, I dont see us getting to 75 this morning

I think they will be bought in 8 hours or so. Hopefully I am wrong, I have some money coming to the exchanges hopefully soon.
7806  Economy / Speculation / Re: When will my f*cking Silver be worth something? on: March 22, 2013, 03:01:29 PM
However, the presumption that you'll get to keep/be able to use your rounds is weird in that context. If the government couldn't keep itself together you're going to manage to keep yourself glued to your coins? By what process, using what method? If such a method exists why didn't the state use it to preserve itself? You think angry dudes with guns care you bought that silver fair and square 5 years pre-Apocalypse? The peeps SOL'd during Katrina didn't do much silver coin trading. The UAF 571 didn't establish a silver price per pound of human flesh. If most of humanity is wiped we'll spend our time digging through warehouses for salvageable items, not pushing back and forth engraved metal. On it goes.)

Though this is one of the things that confuses me about so many preppers... They focus on one potential issue and prepare for that above all others. Maybe it's EMP, maybe it's financial collapse, maybe it's bio/chemical. Some preparations are good for multiple scenarios but often there are some big holes. Personally, I suspect that whatever and whenever it happens, it could be "any of the above" or possibly something no one was expecting. To me it makes sense to work out some core essentials first, have a variety of things that would work for multiple specific scenarios, *then*, if you have time/space/money left over, focus on whatever your hobby horse is (meteor strike, magnetic field reversal, whatever). Durable goods first for sure but having a portable token for exchange is up there too. For me, silver > gold in this scenario, especially with the current price of gold.

Gold, however, is probably a reasonable hedge against financial instability. And god know, that's coming. I think bitcoin > gold for that though.

With all that said, if the zombie apocalypse does happen, enough people will be dead that silver and gold will be easy to come by. Should civilization scrape through, your best bet is likely to be less durable luxury goods that will be hard to come by (decent quality alcohol for example).

Metals always have a price. When black Death killed most of the population in some towns, the metals did not buy as much, because there was suddenly 5 times more purchasing media than before. The prices naturally adjusted.

It behooves me why some think that silver or gold is such a bad bet against calamity, that they don't buy *any* even if they could. Never in the history of mankind has it been stupid to have some hidable, portable, liquid Wealth just in case you might need it. Especially as the insurance costs you exactly 0% per annum long term. All the other preparations are of course also prudent and beneficial, but they come with a hefty annual cost. Storing grain etc. costs you easily 5% per annum even if you don't factor in the hassle, replacement cost etc. Also you can't usually buy it at spot, at least here the cost is about 3 times that. Equipment costs space to store and time+money to maintain.

I believe the arrogant dimwits who openly ridicule the owners(hip) of silver and gold are not actually that prepared in other fields either. Perhaps they feel insecure over the fact that they could not buy as much as they wanted, so they hope that they can take what they want with guns.

Disclosure: sold 5000 oz silver today to buy some bitcoin. Still own enough.

7807  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: March 22, 2013, 02:38:12 PM
No srsly, I don't think I am the only EU money manager that will need to do this day after day in increasing volumes, I am just the loudest Smiley I can feel the pain of the others as they cannot scrape enough to buy from anywhere (except Mt.Gox USD with 1 week transfer delay LOL)

Aren't there quite a few holders in Helsinki, I'd have thought you could find sellers locally?

Yes in 1 mile radius from my office there is 5 LocalBitcoins.com merchants including the operator of the service  Grin

And yes, I am buying from the locals when they show up. My ad is also there.

But the demand is overwhelming, there is about $100 million investing power in my immediate clientbase, and they are slowly waking up to Bitcoin. They will start to buy maybe this spring or this autumn. Once I have finished buying for my family and the clients, I will go public about this all-in (by public I mean TV etc. which I annually visit) and then the price better be north of $500 to accommodate the new buyers.

lol at "better be north of 500"

Yeah my verbalistix is unsurpassable  Cheesy Btw you regularly in Thailand, how about meetup, I visit about 2/year..?
7808  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: March 22, 2013, 02:30:11 PM
It's not a good day to buy BTC with EUR. At Bitcoin-central the price is fluctuating rapidly between EUR 60 and EUR 64 ... (over USD 80) and at Bitcoin-24 it is about EUR 59...

I also had a passthrough for about a week but it made such a big loss I needed to close it down, despite that the price was about 4% higher than USD spot rate. So to keep things in order, I mainly buy for myself now, then expand to larger and larger circles.

for a week btc was 50$, yesterday 60, today 75, tomorow 90 Huh?? is this normal? Bitcoin needed 3 years to touch 20$
I want buy some coins, but i cant. I have fear

Bitcoins are still dirt cheap. Right now, I would consider $ 5000 a fair price per coin. Until then, buyers galore!

If you factor in the risks, and the IRR of 8% per annum, the fair price is "only" about $2000, for which reason I am buying.
7811  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: March 22, 2013, 02:01:06 PM
I bail out now.

Wow, that was fast.

And poof, it is gone.

See the tiny "buy" wall at EUR 57.30. It is mine. I want/need to buy, Please sell to me, thank you.

Moving it to 57.70, please take it!

LOL, this Mt.Gox "EUR-exchange" is a joke. When, if ever, is serious money even able to buy into bitcoin?? I bail out now.

Consider that this is about $74 - see, I am giving you a good deal. Same price as the fearsome "sell" wall at $74.

Sold 5000 ounces of silver today, soon the fun will begin  Grin

Oh wait, I mean perhaps Thursday next week, after the money clears  Cry Cry
7815  Economy / Goods / Re: 1OZ SILVER MAPLE LEAF / CHECK BEST PRICE IN OP on: March 22, 2013, 01:17:52 PM
received my coins today (yesterday actually, but I wasn't home as always when the postman rings)

delivery was quick, produce well-packaged, communication very good.

thanks, rpietila

Thank you molecular, always happy to serve!

Now, as you can see in the OP, I lightened up the load and sold 4500 of these in wholesale. Did not make much profit, but want to invest more in bitcoin... Grin
7816  Economy / Speculation / Re: The "Vladimir Club" on: March 22, 2013, 11:19:31 AM
How many do you think are eligible for the club today? I would think it is far less than 5000 individuals, maybe closer to 500.. Undecided

surely can't be more than 10000.

Another guesstimation I just did puts the upper bound at ~611 members conservatively: satoshi: 1 million, 2 guys 500k, 4 guys: 250k, 8 guys: 125k and so on.

I'm guessing it's around 300 people in that club max. Tendency: decreasing.

I find myself secretly hoping that the Bitcoin wealth is very concentrated so that there are not many people with more coins than me

Strange thought. So what if there is only 1000, 500 or 100 richer than you - - What kind of thoughts does this bring into you?
7817  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Here's where I spew my accusations against MPOE. All are welcome. on: March 22, 2013, 09:38:13 AM
Okay, I am undecided now  Huh

Mircea posts some intelligent thoughts in the blog, and I kind of admire him/her? for doing things that others haven't been doing. But after all that porn, negative p/l statements what comes to actual, incorporated businesses, and paying people to post under fake accounts, what should I be trusting? (Also s/he has not commented on my idea, how to structure a bitcoin company, I put it there to probe his/her IQ, and so far I am dissatisfied with no answer, other than one-liners calling me "a nobody with nothing", despite powerful evidence to the contrary.)

If there is anyone who actually owns the shares in S.MPOE, how about showing up to give the thing some credit? I think it would be good for the prospects of your shares. I have considered shorting it in a serious way, which would destroy your value.

There is a realistic possibility to me, that S.MPOE is in fact not owned by many actual individuals, rather than by few with multiple forum and bitcoin accounts. So please, consider my offer and be forewarned. I am just a messenger.

I know big boys are entering the bitcoin arena now, and no matter whether these suspicions of mine prove out to be correct or not, I do not see much chance for S.MPOE to beat BTC in the years coming. (BTC should be doing great.)

Why hurry? Why punching an opponent that can't fight back? Rest for a while and have a drink, bears need weekends too! Undecided

You talking to me? Yes it's all fine to just personally miss the opportunity to buy (cheap/at all). Too bad. But what if I have all the syndicate's money behind me and I kind of promised to lock in at some price? It is like getting caught in a short squeeze, and is not fun.

Today there's plenty of asks so problem solved, thank you Smiley

Nah, I was talking about the relentless bulls.

Oh good, I am too fickle to fit in that category. Lucky it never fell to $42 which was my stop-loss a week+ ago...

7820  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What is the most efficient method of selling large quantities of BTC? on: March 22, 2013, 08:08:04 AM
Sound like a load of bs I don't want to be found dead near of.

Gold/silver can be easily faked and just 200 things could go wrong, not that great to exchange for btc.

Just please check the credentials of the people you're replying to, FIRST  Wink

It is irrelevant anyway since I want the evil gov money in my bank instead of having to sell that physical silver with the same hassles I sell bitcoin.

Okay, sorry for bothering you. Please PM how much you want and in what currency, if still interested.
