7821  Other / Meta / Re: sig campaign- what about "1merited post per week" instead of"25 post per week" on: May 16, 2018, 02:30:52 PM
1- Very bad idea, the merit abusing is already from 20-40% weekly in this way you will increase even more(March)

2- Again you can't envaluate the merit gain while people are abusing without penalities, I'm not talking about 50+ merit (still unpunished) abuses but people even abuse/tradeback for 5-10 merits.

The only thing you can think about is merit abuse. Just accept the fact that merit trading if happening underground it cannot be prevented. But such cases if identified will be tagged accordingly. If you are not happy with this then please leave the forum rather than taking this tone/attitude or suggest some better method to weed out such sales.

I wonder if the sig campaign managers get worried about not having many participants for their campaigns.
Sarcastically speaking the 99.99% of the forum population is here for the signature campaigns and bounty hunting. Who cares about the forum or its discussions any more?
It is important that bounty managers apply strict merit rules on signature campaign participants.
7822  Other / Meta / Re: Why is it complicated to get merits on: May 16, 2018, 02:24:25 PM
its complicated to get merits because merit giver are very strict when it comes  to their satisfaction. some post which are good and very helpful to this forum are not been merited. only post which are very much useful.
I can vouch for some merit sources and I can tell you one thing - merit sources are lenient (which means opposite of strict in case you dont know). They are willing to give out merits to posts which are worth reading and are adding to the discussion. But if all they see is cry baby posts by bounty hunters then they will get ignored.

Yes i agree with you on that. Getting merit is not complicated but rather difficult as most persons who have merit to give don't give it out and some just go about sharing their merit points with their friends.
If you dont have proof dont make such comments. If you have proof post it in the proper section and await DT to neg them. Trading merit is an abuse of the system and hence tagworthy.

Quote
so if the merit gifting can be solely from the admins i think it will be better because every post that worth meriting will be merited without sentiment or Bias.
Admins dont have that much time in the forum to merit people. Mods already have their hands full cleaning up the shitposters.
7823  Other / Meta / Re: sig campaign- what about "1merited post per week" instead of"25 post per week" on: May 15, 2018, 05:59:03 PM
A few ideas cropped up in my mind.

1. A rule like - those who dont receive at least 5 merits during their posting period of the entire campaign will not eligible for payment - for those which are paying in bulk once campaign end.

2. Some campaign are having a minimum number of merits in order to enter them. It would be great if these people are also evaluated in future about their post quality by looking at the number of merits gained while participating in that campaign.
7824  Economy / Lending / Re: 0.006 no collateral loan required on: May 15, 2018, 03:09:05 PM
Why does every newbie open a thread in the lending section after making an account?   Huh Huh
Because this has become a trend now. Everyday when I come to the forum I see a new thread made by a newbie or junior asking for a loan without collateral and sometimes there is some laughable rant added to it as well. "Lending" is a great place to have a good laugh and troll the scumabgs.

Why do Hero members get merits for such casual replies?  Roll Eyes
...or is it for asking rhetorical questions?  Cool
Why are newbies, juniors and members so obsessed with merits? Studies have shown that being obsessed with something leads to the person's failure in obtaining the same.
7825  Economy / Reputation / Re: [Discussion) how to solve negative trust on: May 15, 2018, 02:32:21 PM
why should complain. all this is no more limited to the game I see. right or wrong it does not need, the intelligence that takes in the game.
What game are you talking about or are you trying to blabber out every word coming to your mind because you are now in delirium after getting negged?

pride and pride, that is the beginning of destruction.
Your negative trust has nothing to do with "pride". I have these people for sometime now and can say this much that they have been trying to clean up the forum from alt account bounty abusers in a proper manner.

Quote
I do not expect that trust can come back.
Trust does not come. It is earned. You earned your negative trust by abusing bounties.

7826  Other / Meta / Re: Why is it complicated to get merits on: May 15, 2018, 02:24:47 PM
The thing is that to get merit you have to post really, really, really, really good comments that catches people. While before to rank up you could just post regular and in the flow of things. While the merit systems guarantees that spammer won't rank up, it almost guarantees that a regular, average user won't rank up either.
I am a "regular" "average" user in the forum. I am getting merited often for posting. I still need a huge number of merits to reach the next (and final) rank of the forum but do I look like I am complaining? Thing is that not everyone here has the ability to adapt to every new thing that the world throws at them.

If you feel that the merit system is favoring people and you are getting jealous of them for ranking up before you can (Hint: Rat Race??) then you can do the following :
1. Its time to up your game and learn better ways to post.
2. Stop visiting this forum and hope merit gets removed (Which will not happen)
3. The last but not the least - get a job and stop depending on the forum bounty earnings to get paid.
7827  Other / Meta / Re: Rubbish shitpost on: May 15, 2018, 02:18:24 PM
Activity and Merit are earnt by them. We don't need to agree with that. It would be better if they're merit sources that are automated to send merit to a good quality posts.
My suggestion goes this way.
If one user posted a good quality post and enough to be merited but no one sees it the post will not be merited unlike their is an Autonated Merit Sender (AMS) for everg user. If I posted a good quality post and it is meritorous the Automated Merit Sender will send to me because I made a good quality post and enough to be merited.
Every user should have this called AMS.
There  are 1704250 accounts here and ¼ of it isn't in a good hand or not used.

The previous ranking system was based on activity. Lets say people got activity from posting and then every fortnight their activity increased automatically. What you are suggesting is that we convert the merit system into another metric of "activity" and every shitposter in the forum will be getting activity (oops I mean Merit) for posting and there will nobody to judge whether those posts were actually worth reading or simply vomiteposted shitposts.

Nice way to say that you are actually supporting removal of the merit system by making up an idea which is nothing but the activity metric in other words.

If bots were to become merit sources - who would be the judge?  Roll Eyes
7828  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling: The Seven Deadly Sins on: May 15, 2018, 02:14:24 PM
Just because we have the freedom to do whatever we want to rather we can do whatever we like to does not mean everything is right.
I never said that. It is the person who is doing something who is supposed to judge their actions as right or wrong. Gambling is wrong according to someone may not be true for another person.

Quote
There are people who get affected by our actions because we all have bonds and relations. These relations suffer whenever a mistake is made. Gambling is not only going to hurt gambler but his close ones too but if someone is okay with that, its mean of him.
Again, every gambler should understand the implications of their gambling habits. If they are having a bad time with their family due to their habits then they should stop gambling or reduce the frequency of gambling.

It is like smoking or any other thing. If you eat too much, you will get fat. If you sit for a long time, you will get sitting disease. Everything is done excessively will harm you.
It is an addiction if done too much. But failing to realize that the effect is bad is being stupid.
7829  Other / Meta / Re: I can't keep track of the discussions I'm interested on: May 14, 2018, 09:09:51 AM
I ended up posting my many topics, but when I hit the "Show new replies to your posts" button it literally show every single post that I went to and it's not dead, a big list of which I need to lose minutes looking for and I feel severely discouraged, is there any idea to improve this list?
Blame the shitposters for this. Its impossible to keep an eye on every thread you have posted. I do use that ""Show new replies" but I dont read the threads which have become spam mega threads. Instead I skim through the list from last page to first page everyday when I come to the forum and open the new replies to those topics which I am interested in.

You can also watch boards as necessary. But I dont use it much.

Quote
Also, I'm 100% sure nobody really uses the "Show unread posts since last visit", since it will mostly show updated topics from the market list (that is normally the most updated for obvious reasons), I don't know if this came with Bitcoin forum template, but I believe there are better options in order to improve it.
Agreed. I would have that button removed. It was only useful long time back and I never click on it anymore.

7830  Other / Meta / Re: Must Acrivity and Merit fall over time? on: May 14, 2018, 09:05:31 AM
I had an idea how to increase the amount of a common Merit, by reducing inactive accounts.
Perhaps you will not agree with me, but how can you look at accounts that have 1000 merit, but the last time in the network were back in 2016?
How about everything will work:
If you do not log in for 2 months - minus 10 Merits
If you do not write posts, within 2 months - minus 10 Merits
So a person who has gained their activity across this long period will lose their activity and rank and then when they come back they will be horrified to see what happened to their account. If this some sort of revenge that you people are trying to administer because you people are not gaining merits yourself?

Quote
Where will Merit go? It will be distributed among people close to the administration, who will subsequently hand out it for useful topics.
Let them be as it is. Waste of time it would be.

Quote
Of course, this issue will need to be finalized, but what do you say about this idea? If you agree, what rules would you add?
No rules need to be added because you made this thread just like 1000 other merit crybabies do every morning trying to squeeze some merit from the sources.
7831  Other / Meta / Re: Add multiple quotes to one post? on: May 14, 2018, 08:51:20 AM
Okay, I just realized you can do this already after you are already on the drafting page with the "insert quote" link. It still would be cool to hit multiple quotes before you arrive at the drafting page though.

Blame it on the forum software. Nothing else can be done other than the "Insert Quote" option. In fact the quote system is made to help people reply to multiple posts above them in a thread. So it serves its purpose if you just insert the text (quoted) and the snip the unnecessary portions.

I have had problems when I was new to the forum in properly making all the quotes end at the perfect lines. Takes a bit of practice to make sure you dont miss out any "open" [ quote] tags and then the entire post looks like a noobies post. Grin
7832  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How much have you won/lost on bitcoin gambling ? on: May 14, 2018, 08:42:58 AM
I've won more than four bitcoin from my gambling activities using bitcoin. Due to greed I've lost what I've earned and the best part is that, I haven't withdrawn funds from gambling for my other needs. Most of the time the winnings I made were through sports betting.

If you had withdrawn your four bitcoins after winning them you would have made a fortune today. Greed will kill you in life if you dont stop.

To be honest, I can't remember how many bucks did I lose in trading because my last gamble happened years ago. I know most of us don't know too how much money did we give away in gambling. I think I lost approx. $1000 already. I feel regret in the end when I lost this large amount of money and didn't gamble again until now.

Good thing you stopped gambling. But I think you were referring to trading? Trading is not like gambling though and in my opinion its more profitable if you know which coins to buy and which ones to sell. But then again most people are led by brain dead shills of shitcoins to invest in their shitcoin - after which they panic sell.

As far as gambling is concerned, the less you do it the better.
7833  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: A successful trader must be an educated trader? on: May 13, 2018, 08:04:21 AM
Absolutely. Without education and experience, trading doesn't differ from gambling. But trading knowledge comes at a high price...you need to lose some money to gain that knowledge and experience, and most importantly the mindset. it doesn't come cheap. You mustn't be afraid of losing money..consider that loss as an investment.

You know the biggest traders of the stock market like Warren Buffet did not have much of an education. Then again these people are gifted and not everyone is like them. Being educated will help the person make educated guesses as to where the market is going - this does not come at high price. All you need to do is to watch the market movement (preferably at coinmarketcap) for a few months. Then understand how FUD effects the market and the price of coins.

Once you have an idea start trading with small capitals and watch as you make mistake and profits. Modify your methods gradually and you will gain your own trading style.
7834  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Learnings from crash on: May 13, 2018, 07:59:27 AM
But it can't be emotional move because of situation became scary for you at the moment. Only if such move was planned from the start.
Not everyone has planned from the start. The new people who start trading without the knowledge of market spread wont be able to decide on what price to set buy or sell orders. They will end up buying high and selling low - leading to a huge loss and then they will go to their friends and say "Trading is usless and exchanges are scam." Grin

We all fail to notice our own mistakes. Its true that mistakes happen but then you must rectify it and learn from them not to repeat them.
7835  Other / Meta / Re: how you guys think about MERIT ? on: May 13, 2018, 07:52:36 AM
I posted similar thoughts in a merit thread in the Beginners & Help forum board but I will share my thoughts on merit here as well.
I've found that it's very difficult to get merit here. The system appears to favor people who were already here and established in the Bitcointalk forum when it was introduced (I believe only at the start of the year?).
The system is made of the merit sources and the members of the forum of which the former is also a part of the latter. Everyone who is in the system is a human. Thus the favouring will be there. This is what we have been lacking in the forum for 2-3 years now. People reply to topics without even seeing what others say. We dont care about who the above us is - even though I agree the number of members is also big but still there is not sort of personal interaction through the posts.

Quote
It has ended up creating a barrier for newbies and new people who visit Bitcointalk as many do not receive any merit from the small portion of members who can distribute it.
Punishment for the bounty spammers.

Quote
The system (and merit givers themselves) also favors English speakers or people who have a well-developed English vocabulary. There are much fewer merit givers in the local / foreign language boards and they are much less populated. This has been confirmed by several merit-givers who have created their own threads on this. It's basically a form of discrimination against foreigners.
Get used to it or better yet leave the forum.

Quote
I find it quite puzzling that a forum that's been around for years, and based on decentralized networks and cryptocurrency, has managed to adopt and implement a centralized and archaic system of forum rewards that favor a select few. It's both ironic and hypocritical!
The only hypocrite is you. The forum has its problems and the problem of spam control has gone so far that the mods are unable to control it anymore and admins had to take this harsh step.

Quote
I've been here since late last year and haven't been able to acquire a single merit point. I don't have the English barrier problem as English is my native language.
Why do you even need those merit points? So keen on ranking up I see. Roll Eyes

Quote
What makes it even more difficult for newbies and Jr Members is that there is an unwritten rule not to beg for merit... so you can't even ask for it. That will most likely just get you blocked from merit givers or possibly a -1 Trust (?)
Written rule by theymos and the mods in the stickies. Read before you post.

Quote
I honestly think the whole system needs to be rehashed or redeveloped so that everyone has a chance to get merit (or maybe just turf out the whole system altogether??).
The system is working fine. The only thing is we need more merit sources.

Quote
The global blockchain and cryptocurrency industry still has a lot of room to grow with new people entering crypto markets and looking up websites for info every month. Judging by some of the arrogant and judgemental responses from the Hero and Sr Members in this thread, if this and the other reasons above results in the reception they can expect to get from a popular forum board, what message does it send to them??   Roll Eyes
Being one of those people - I can assure you one thing. We are tired of seeing the spam in the forum. Thus the radical measure.

7836  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you play online casino? if Yes... on: May 13, 2018, 07:44:25 AM
Online casinos need a good strategy developing skill as well should not have the fear of losing. When one fears of losing money, automatically the concentration gets deviated leading towards loss. I experimented and found it not suiting to my knowledge and later began to be the part of the sports betting.

You may have a good strategy developing skill but I can promise you that you will still lose. Because the luck factor is always working and it makes players lose as soon as they are starting to play. Making a good strategy will give you mental confidence but when the losing streak starts you will be wiped off your bankroll.

I have never played online casinos because I think that sitting every time in front of a computer is boring. Life should be full of enjoyment because a few days and then end. So I think that we should enjoy our lives and if one wants a little fun, he should visit casino. There are many things under one roof. While online is just gambling and nothing more.

Wow just wow, people are trying to control their gambling habits and you are making them gamble. Yeah life is boring at times but then you should ask yourself if you are the problem of boredom yourself or not - because most of the time that is true. Also getting bored is no excuse to waste money be it yours or your parents.
7837  Other / Meta / Re: how you guys think about MERIT ? on: May 12, 2018, 10:23:42 AM
Yes but many people sall merit and many buy.
Report them in the proper format to the respective and they shall be given judgement by DT with a red tag. Provide enough proof as well.

Quote
If every user get a little merit every mounth , it reduce the number of sales and the kill interest to buy merit.
Every user getting merited every month will mean the same thing that used to happen to the forum before merit was introduced. Ranking up based on post count and thus people used to spam to get ranked up. You idea is so dumb that it denies the existence and objective of the merit system altogether.

Merit is not something to be given out for free. Hammer this idea into your brain.

Let merit sale happen - it will only give the DT more opportunities to wipe out these scumbags who do engage in such sales. Just like account sales. This will decrease the clutter of spam and in turn the legitimate users who try to follow rules will be benefited.

Please work on your English if you want to get merited for your posts (if worthy enough) in future.

Collateral can be my acct. Escrow is okay, but you will handle fees. Thanks.
Accounts are not considered as valid collateral to get a loan here. I would accept altcoins of value as collateral.

Do you have anything else to offer?
7839  Economy / Lending / Re: looking for 2 BTC for 2 mounth, i give Back 2 BTC + 30 % on: May 12, 2018, 07:40:17 AM
sorry, I did not know about it. I do not have such a collateral.
If you dont have a collateral then close this thread or risk getting a negative trust from DT. Try going to a bank and asking them do charity for you for 18000 USD and see what they give you other than a punch on your face.

7840  Economy / Economics / Re: Any ideas of what we lack in crypto world? on: May 12, 2018, 06:32:15 AM
Everything goes as it should. To begin the technology, the crypto currency must develop to a certain level, when it becomes more convenient and more profitable for people to use them instead of fiat money

Crypto development is not something to comment on at any stage of you are not a developer yourself. There is always the scope of changing the economy be it on a small scale or a large scale, but mostly small in crypto. The adoption of crypto will probably never be extensive in the mainstream. Thus it is profitable but comparing it to the economy of fiat is a bit long shot. After all to buy your daily bread you need fiat - crypto cover is not that high.

I feel there is a lack of common sense. There is too much mystery and uncertainty.

There is too much of manipulated shills reddit and twitter shitshills, fake news FUD and panic sellers.
