7862  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: How will Taproot affect Multi-sig Ledger Wallets? on: April 21, 2021, 08:58:03 AM
Will I need to recreate the wallet?

With Taproot you will need to generate new address format and your old addresses, including regular bech32 addresses will not work with taproot multisig, but format will be very similar and starting with bc1p.
You don't need to understand in details how multisig will work but you should know that fees will be much lower than current multisig setups, and privacy will be much higher with some optimizations.

Is there an estimate of when Multisig2 support will be available in Electrum?
There is no estimations when Electrum and hardware wallets will support Taproot address formats, but Taproot activation should happen at the end of 2020 and I am expecting that next year Electrum and other wallets will support it.

7864  Economy / Economics / Re: World risk - global on: April 20, 2021, 02:39:57 PM
I would never trust any World Economic Forum reports or anything their founder Klaus Schwab said.
Just remember their 2030 report agenda titled You'll own nothing, and you'll be happy or listen some of the recent Klaus Schwab interviews.
I expect them to push very hard Climate Change agenda and that could be one of the high risk factors, and like Klaus Schwab said himself, possible Cyber Attack would make complete halt to power supply, transportation, hospitals and covid19 would look like a small disturbance compared to this.

7865  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Sidechains on: April 20, 2021, 02:01:46 PM
Is there a way to see all the different sidechains that run on the Bitcoin blockchain

There is Liquid Network developed by Blockstream that acts as Bitcoin sidechain, it is mostly used for traders and exchanges and there are tokens like L-BTC, USDT and others.
Other sidechain for Bitcoin that I know is RSK that works in similar way like ethereum smart contract platform connected to BTC blockchain.
One more smaller and less known project is called Drivechain, but problem with all of them is that there is not enough volume and interest of people to use them.
7866  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin Mining Alternative Countries on: April 20, 2021, 12:51:01 PM
If we look at current state of Bitcoin hashrate and mining pools we can see that many of mining pools are located in China for several reasons:

- Low price of electricity in China (~$0.083 kWh)
- Large supply of mining equipment
- Favorable climate

China recently faced one of the biggest power blackouts in a decade and authorities are thinking of introducing restrictions to save energy, that may affect Bitcoin mining pools.
China is also country with most renewable energy capacity according to Statista research and one of the biggest region Sichuan is getting electricity from many of their hydroelectric dams.

Now let's take a look at countries that have lower electricity prices than China, and we are going to exclude Venezuela and few other countries that are known for unreliable electricity network that often has restrictions.
We can also exclude countries like Egypt because it's illegal to mine Bitcoin there and there is high risk of losing your mining equipment.
Some countries have unfavorable climate and hot weather but price is much lower than in China.

https://www.globalpetrolprices.com/electricity_prices/

Biggest candidates for me are countries surrounding China, that have lot of land space like Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, India, and Russia.
They can get asic miners quickly and they can have similar weather conditions like China but with cheaper electricity prices.
It is interesting to see that Kyrgyzstan electricity prices (~$0.010 kWh) are 6 times cheaper than in China, and Uzbekistan (~$0.026 kWh) have 4 times cheaper electricity.

Other interesting region is South America with big countries like Argentina that have ~$0.063 kWh average electricity price, and Canadian company Bitfarms is planning to make mining facility there for several reasons,
climate is favorable all year round, and they have special contract for even cheaper electricity for fist four years of mining.
Other countries in South America could also be interesting but one disadvantage I see there is distance and shipment of asic miners.

I think it's time to change this stats and explore other countries for Bitcoin mining.

7867  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: how to generate new type of addresses on: April 20, 2021, 11:29:20 AM
Hi, how can i Generate new seed type to generate addresses without native (true) segwit.

i would like addresses starting with 1 or 3 not bc. Smiley

If you are talking about Electrum wallet, they removed option for choosing Legacy (starting with 1) or P2WPKH (starting with 3) address formats but you can still generate them with console or with installing old Electrum version 4.0.9.
However I don't see any reason for using old style addresses now especially when fees are high like they are currently, and bech32 are better for saving fees.
7868  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC and Illuminatis on: April 20, 2021, 10:47:49 AM
If you really think that Satoshi was part of Illuminati and Rothschild family then you have very vivid imagination and you can write some science fiction comic book Smiley
Rothschild's like all other corporations and rich individuals invest in anything they think can earn them more money and power, and there is nothing more powerful than Bitcoin network.
All I can see in news is anti-Bitcoin and anti-mining propaganda agenda that is all connected with climate change and global warning, and I don't see them promoting Bitcoin in any way.
7869  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Do you recommend passpharse for Trezor One? on: April 20, 2021, 09:20:19 AM
Another comment regarding extended word/phrase for the SEED.  I don't care which HW device you are using the application of an extended word/phrase is KEY.  Why?  ANY HW wallet could someday fall prey to an advanced physical attack by advanced adversaries.  PLEASE pay attention here; the key is the extended phrase is NEVER stored on any HW device so a complete physical hack would always leave the attacker holding an empty bag.

Using passphrase is great but problem is that some hardware wallets like ledger is storing passphrases on device itself with attaching it to PIN code, so in theory it could possibly be extracted with some exploit, bug or malicious software.
It also complicates things a lot with secondary PIN and I don't think all procedure is user friendly especially for newbies.

I acknowledge the OP is talking about a Trezor ONE, which I have a pile of, but the posts mentioned above referred to the T.  I felt obligated to correct the blank statements that are not universally correct where the T is concerned!
Trezor Model T may be better than Trezor One but I don't think it's 3 times better, and that is what current price of 180 euros suggest, compared with 59 euros for model One.
Bigger screen and SD card is cool but I would not waste money on purchasing Trezor until they release new model with open source secure element.
7870  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Wasabi Wallet 1.0 Is Released on: April 20, 2021, 09:03:41 AM
Please update Wasabi wallet to latest version v1.1.12.8 if you want to  avoid compatibility issue especially connected with Trezor Model T hardware wallet that has latest firmware v2.3.5.
Wasabi devs fixed this and few other bugs and minor issues with recovery words and tor, and you can read more about it in github release notes:

7871  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Alternative to Coinbase? on: April 20, 2021, 08:51:42 AM
Does anyone happen to know a good alternative to cash out BTC into USD?

Some of the top exchanges as alternative to Coinbase would be Kraken.com, it has good volume, solid rating and it has never been hacked (so far).
Second one is relative new exchanged called FTX, with separate exchanges for US and other countries, and third one would be Gemini exchange by Winklevoss brothers.
They are all regulated exchanges and I think they are less strict than Coinbase, but do your own research and check out all exchanges on Coingecko:

7872  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger omitting one character from a Doge address on: April 19, 2021, 03:27:25 PM
Reading some of the comments on Reddit it sounded like people were complaining about not being able to send coins, and not so much about the address showing up incorrectly on the device.

But who knows, what with Ledger trying so hard to avoid explaining what the issue is and what to do (or not to do) to prevent it.

This is what their co-founder and ledger reddit moderator btchip has to say about this issue:

Quote
AFAIK there are no issues with Doge for the time being
https://www.reddit.com/user/btchip/

He is obviously not informed what is written on ledger website, he is ignoring many complains on their reddit page, and last step is probably banning and muting people.
7873  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Cryptocurrency" - A failure of language usage. on: April 19, 2021, 03:04:13 PM
I just wanted to state that I find it falsely to use the term "currency" over something that can be used by anyone in the world and it is definitely not determined or even acceptable by a nation.

I think that Satoshi Nakamoto was one of the first people who said that Bitcoin is P2P cryptocurrency back in 2010,
soon after that Liberty Reserve Exchange and everyone else started to use the same term and I don't see anything wrong with words we are all using.

You can buy Tesla vehicle with Bitcoin and you can buy other things using crypto, but you can also hold it as a store of value especially when fees are high like they are now.

Announcing version 0.3 of Bitcoin, the P2P cryptocurrency!  Bitcoin is a digital currency using cryptography and a distributed network to replace the need for a trusted central server.  Escape the arbitrary inflation risk of centrally managed currencies!  Bitcoin's total circulation is limited to 21 million coins.  The coins are gradually released to the network's nodes based on the CPU power they contribute, so you can get a share of them by contributing your idle CPU time.
7874  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Reduce the hash of several mining pools due to power outages in China on: April 19, 2021, 02:45:48 PM
Are you still saying that China is not mining bitcoin with all its might?
I mentioned earlier in a topic that China is going to war with other countries (especially the United States) by over-extracting bitcoins

You think that every mining pool from US is controlled by US government?
Even if mining pools from China totally shut down one day, pools from other countries will take over and continue mining like nothing happened.
There are many countries with cheaper or same price of electricity like in China, there is Russia, India, Georgia, Ukraine, Argentina, Paraguay, Turkey and others that can take over.
Nothing is stopping people to create more mining pools in other countries, but governments are not controlling them all.

You didn't really come up with this idea of China going to war with other countries over Bitcoin, but you just posted some cointelegraph article links and reposted what they say.
You can't consider that mining pools like Binance and others are directly connected with Chinese government when they are not allowed to run their exchanges in China,
they are all forced to go out in other countries to operate, and remember how many time China tried to ban bitcoin.
They are busy making their own centralized coin for cross border payments and they even made hardware wallet in shape of their ancient chinese coins, and they don't care so much about uncontrollable Bitcoin.
500,000 people will test their digital yuan and this is probably what they are preparing for fight with USD.

7875  Economy / Economics / Re: Charlie Munger: "Bitcoin is an artificial substitute for Gold" on: April 19, 2021, 01:28:35 PM
Charlie Munger did say that Bitcoin is like artificial substitute for Gold, but he also said in this interview that he never purchased any Gold and he is not recommending anyone to do it, and same thing applies for Bitcoin.
We couldn't expect anything more from 97 year old man and Warren Buffett partner, who thinks that central banks and fiat money is best invention in human history.
Worth mentioning that he also hates Tesla and he is not sure what is worse for him Bitcoin or Tesla stock, he said that professional investors who enters crypto market are disgusting, and his partner Warren Buffett said that Bitcoin is rat poison.
7876  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The problem is that it could take again many years to recover on: April 19, 2021, 12:45:18 PM
Many people will be dead before BTC will reach 1 mio.

So what?
Around 100,000 people die every day worldwide and almost none of them are thinking about Bitcoin, bear market, recovery or reaching new all time high, and you don't have some crystal ball to predict anything about future.
Correction in Bitcoin is expected to happen at some point and everyone will know when it comes, but I don't think you have to worry about it since you are mostly active in altcoins since 2017.
Zoom out when you look at Bitcoin chart.
7877  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Do you recommend passpharse for Trezor One? on: April 19, 2021, 12:26:43 PM
So,all I need to do is edit bat. file in T-Rex and replace existing address with the one from the Trezor?
Probaly yes, but I never used that miner and I can't say anything more about it.

I thought so,but one day when I want to send coins back to Coinbase to sell them, will I have to pay fees for transfer from Trezor to Coinbase?

What kind of question is that?
You need to pay fees for sending coins from your own wallet, so make up your mind what you want to do, sell or hold coins.

Also,I mined 0.03 ETH on Ethermine,I suppose if I change wallet address in T-Rex miner,I won't lose those 0.03 ETH that I'm currently mining?

You are not going to lose anything if you do everything correctly, but you may lose everything if you make some mistake.

PS
Please stay on topic.
7878  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Do you recommend passpharse for Trezor One? on: April 19, 2021, 12:02:00 PM
I would like to know,is there a possibility to use Ethermine and once I pass threshold of 0.05 ETH is there a way to transfer that mined Ethereum directly to Trezor without sending it to Coinbase to avoid fees?

Only way is to change wallet address in your miner and replace it with one of your addresses from Trezor hardware wallet, that is if you want to hold coins and not sell them on exchange.
Exchanges are for trading and wallets are for holding coins.
7879  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Can We find the wallet address of coinbase? on: April 19, 2021, 10:56:36 AM
Can we find the wallet address of coinbase? Or Why other exchanges have public wallet addree but coinbase does not?

I tried to find Coinbase in bitinfocharts and walletexplorer, then looked at Bitcoin rich list and I can't be certain what cold storage address is used by Coinbase, but I suspect they are using multiple addresses.
We can probably find some of their wallets in top 50 addresses if they have many transactions, and if we exclude all other exchanges that are already identified:

7880  Economy / Speculation / Re: Which on-chain anayltics have you found to be most useful when predicting price? on: April 18, 2021, 11:47:35 AM
Which on-chain analytics you use (glassnode for example), which specific parameters you have found to be most useful and most "predictive" when it comes to bull /  bear cycles and price tops or bottoms?

I am using combination of different indicators like Bitcoin NUPL or Net Unrealized Profit/Loss NUPL, BTC Stock-to-Flow, MVRV Z-Score and few others, but nothing can exactly predict Bitcoin market top or bottom.
You need to take in account overall economic situation in the world especially in time of pandemic, money printing, potential war rumors, etc and predict most likely scenario that will happen in near future..
There is no risk in holding coins but you need to be ready to suffer the pain and learn not to check your blockfolio every minute, because I think that long term we are going to $100k but road upwards will be bumpy.
