7881  Other / Meta / Re: Must Acrivity and Merit fall over time? on: May 14, 2018, 09:05:31 AM
I had an idea how to increase the amount of a common Merit, by reducing inactive accounts.
Perhaps you will not agree with me, but how can you look at accounts that have 1000 merit, but the last time in the network were back in 2016?
How about everything will work:
If you do not log in for 2 months - minus 10 Merits
If you do not write posts, within 2 months - minus 10 Merits
So a person who has gained their activity across this long period will lose their activity and rank and then when they come back they will be horrified to see what happened to their account. If this some sort of revenge that you people are trying to administer because you people are not gaining merits yourself?

Quote
Where will Merit go? It will be distributed among people close to the administration, who will subsequently hand out it for useful topics.
Let them be as it is. Waste of time it would be.

Quote
Of course, this issue will need to be finalized, but what do you say about this idea? If you agree, what rules would you add?
No rules need to be added because you made this thread just like 1000 other merit crybabies do every morning trying to squeeze some merit from the sources.
7882  Other / Meta / Re: Add multiple quotes to one post? on: May 14, 2018, 08:51:20 AM
Okay, I just realized you can do this already after you are already on the drafting page with the "insert quote" link. It still would be cool to hit multiple quotes before you arrive at the drafting page though.

Blame it on the forum software. Nothing else can be done other than the "Insert Quote" option. In fact the quote system is made to help people reply to multiple posts above them in a thread. So it serves its purpose if you just insert the text (quoted) and the snip the unnecessary portions.

I have had problems when I was new to the forum in properly making all the quotes end at the perfect lines. Takes a bit of practice to make sure you dont miss out any "open" [ quote] tags and then the entire post looks like a noobies post. Grin
7883  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How much have you won/lost on bitcoin gambling ? on: May 14, 2018, 08:42:58 AM
I've won more than four bitcoin from my gambling activities using bitcoin. Due to greed I've lost what I've earned and the best part is that, I haven't withdrawn funds from gambling for my other needs. Most of the time the winnings I made were through sports betting.

If you had withdrawn your four bitcoins after winning them you would have made a fortune today. Greed will kill you in life if you dont stop.

To be honest, I can't remember how many bucks did I lose in trading because my last gamble happened years ago. I know most of us don't know too how much money did we give away in gambling. I think I lost approx. $1000 already. I feel regret in the end when I lost this large amount of money and didn't gamble again until now.

Good thing you stopped gambling. But I think you were referring to trading? Trading is not like gambling though and in my opinion its more profitable if you know which coins to buy and which ones to sell. But then again most people are led by brain dead shills of shitcoins to invest in their shitcoin - after which they panic sell.

As far as gambling is concerned, the less you do it the better.
7884  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: A successful trader must be an educated trader? on: May 13, 2018, 08:04:21 AM
Absolutely. Without education and experience, trading doesn't differ from gambling. But trading knowledge comes at a high price...you need to lose some money to gain that knowledge and experience, and most importantly the mindset. it doesn't come cheap. You mustn't be afraid of losing money..consider that loss as an investment.

You know the biggest traders of the stock market like Warren Buffet did not have much of an education. Then again these people are gifted and not everyone is like them. Being educated will help the person make educated guesses as to where the market is going - this does not come at high price. All you need to do is to watch the market movement (preferably at coinmarketcap) for a few months. Then understand how FUD effects the market and the price of coins.

Once you have an idea start trading with small capitals and watch as you make mistake and profits. Modify your methods gradually and you will gain your own trading style.
7885  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Learnings from crash on: May 13, 2018, 07:59:27 AM
But it can't be emotional move because of situation became scary for you at the moment. Only if such move was planned from the start.
Not everyone has planned from the start. The new people who start trading without the knowledge of market spread wont be able to decide on what price to set buy or sell orders. They will end up buying high and selling low - leading to a huge loss and then they will go to their friends and say "Trading is usless and exchanges are scam." Grin

We all fail to notice our own mistakes. Its true that mistakes happen but then you must rectify it and learn from them not to repeat them.
7886  Other / Meta / Re: how you guys think about MERIT ? on: May 13, 2018, 07:52:36 AM
I posted similar thoughts in a merit thread in the Beginners & Help forum board but I will share my thoughts on merit here as well.
I've found that it's very difficult to get merit here. The system appears to favor people who were already here and established in the Bitcointalk forum when it was introduced (I believe only at the start of the year?).
The system is made of the merit sources and the members of the forum of which the former is also a part of the latter. Everyone who is in the system is a human. Thus the favouring will be there. This is what we have been lacking in the forum for 2-3 years now. People reply to topics without even seeing what others say. We dont care about who the above us is - even though I agree the number of members is also big but still there is not sort of personal interaction through the posts.

Quote
It has ended up creating a barrier for newbies and new people who visit Bitcointalk as many do not receive any merit from the small portion of members who can distribute it.
Punishment for the bounty spammers.

Quote
The system (and merit givers themselves) also favors English speakers or people who have a well-developed English vocabulary. There are much fewer merit givers in the local / foreign language boards and they are much less populated. This has been confirmed by several merit-givers who have created their own threads on this. It's basically a form of discrimination against foreigners.
Get used to it or better yet leave the forum.

Quote
I find it quite puzzling that a forum that's been around for years, and based on decentralized networks and cryptocurrency, has managed to adopt and implement a centralized and archaic system of forum rewards that favor a select few. It's both ironic and hypocritical!
The only hypocrite is you. The forum has its problems and the problem of spam control has gone so far that the mods are unable to control it anymore and admins had to take this harsh step.

Quote
I've been here since late last year and haven't been able to acquire a single merit point. I don't have the English barrier problem as English is my native language.
Why do you even need those merit points? So keen on ranking up I see. Roll Eyes

Quote
What makes it even more difficult for newbies and Jr Members is that there is an unwritten rule not to beg for merit... so you can't even ask for it. That will most likely just get you blocked from merit givers or possibly a -1 Trust (?)
Written rule by theymos and the mods in the stickies. Read before you post.

Quote
I honestly think the whole system needs to be rehashed or redeveloped so that everyone has a chance to get merit (or maybe just turf out the whole system altogether??).
The system is working fine. The only thing is we need more merit sources.

The global blockchain and cryptocurrency industry still has a lot of room to grow with new people entering crypto markets and looking up websites for info every month. Judging by some of the arrogant and judgemental responses from the Hero and Sr Members in this thread, if this and the other reasons above results in the reception they can expect to get from a popular forum board, what message does it send to them??   Roll Eyes
Being one of those people - I can assure you one thing. We are tired of seeing the spam in the forum. Thus the radical measure.

7887  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you play online casino? if Yes... on: May 13, 2018, 07:44:25 AM
Online casinos need a good strategy developing skill as well should not have the fear of losing. When one fears of losing money, automatically the concentration gets deviated leading towards loss. I experimented and found it not suiting to my knowledge and later began to be the part of the sports betting.

You may have a good strategy developing skill but I can promise you that you will still lose. Because the luck factor is always working and it makes players lose as soon as they are starting to play. Making a good strategy will give you mental confidence but when the losing streak starts you will be wiped off your bankroll.

I have never played online casinos because I think that sitting every time in front of a computer is boring. Life should be full of enjoyment because a few days and then end. So I think that we should enjoy our lives and if one wants a little fun, he should visit casino. There are many things under one roof. While online is just gambling and nothing more.

Wow just wow, people are trying to control their gambling habits and you are making them gamble. Yeah life is boring at times but then you should ask yourself if you are the problem of boredom yourself or not - because most of the time that is true. Also getting bored is no excuse to waste money be it yours or your parents.
7888  Other / Meta / Re: how you guys think about MERIT ? on: May 12, 2018, 10:23:42 AM
Yes but many people sall merit and many buy.
Report them in the proper format to the respective and they shall be given judgement by DT with a red tag. Provide enough proof as well.

Quote
If every user get a little merit every mounth , it reduce the number of sales and the kill interest to buy merit.
Every user getting merited every month will mean the same thing that used to happen to the forum before merit was introduced. Ranking up based on post count and thus people used to spam to get ranked up. You idea is so dumb that it denies the existence and objective of the merit system altogether.

Merit is not something to be given out for free. Hammer this idea into your brain.

Let merit sale happen - it will only give the DT more opportunities to wipe out these scumbags who do engage in such sales. Just like account sales. This will decrease the clutter of spam and in turn the legitimate users who try to follow rules will be benefited.

Please work on your English if you want to get merited for your posts (if worthy enough) in future.
7889  Other / Archival / Re: Need A Loan of 0.01 BTC. Repayment in 2 days. on: May 12, 2018, 07:42:45 AM
Collateral can be my acct. Escrow is okay, but you will handle fees. Thanks.
Accounts are not considered as valid collateral to get a loan here. I would accept altcoins of value as collateral.

Do you have anything else to offer?
7890  Economy / Lending / Re: looking for 2 BTC for 2 mounth, i give Back 2 BTC + 30 % on: May 12, 2018, 07:40:17 AM
sorry, I did not know about it. I do not have such a collateral.
If you dont have a collateral then close this thread or risk getting a negative trust from DT. Try going to a bank and asking them do charity for you for 18000 USD and see what they give you other than a punch on your face.

I'm doing two projects on which to actually earn this money in two months to get them back.

7891  Economy / Economics / Re: Any ideas of what we lack in crypto world? on: May 12, 2018, 06:32:15 AM
Everything goes as it should. To begin the technology, the crypto currency must develop to a certain level, when it becomes more convenient and more profitable for people to use them instead of fiat money

Crypto development is not something to comment on at any stage of you are not a developer yourself. There is always the scope of changing the economy be it on a small scale or a large scale, but mostly small in crypto. The adoption of crypto will probably never be extensive in the mainstream. Thus it is profitable but comparing it to the economy of fiat is a bit long shot. After all to buy your daily bread you need fiat - crypto cover is not that high.

I feel there is a lack of common sense. There is too much mystery and uncertainty.

There is too much of manipulated shills reddit and twitter shitshills, fake news FUD and panic sellers.
7892  Other / Meta / Re: Double Account Policy on forum on: May 12, 2018, 06:27:17 AM
No i am not holding alts, once i have created but the same was blocked. this is new to me that with alts we can participate here but not in same bounties.

Let me get this straight without ranting over and over. Having multiple accounts on the forum is allowed. You might have to pay some fee if you sign up under same IP address.

However abusing bounties and campaigns with alt accounts will get you a negative trust from DT. Again if you have alt accounts and then escrow deals between them and try to get trust rating up - eventually when you get caught you will be given negative trust for trust farming.

Many people on the forum have alt accounts - but they dont use them to abuse bounties or self escrows - in which case they would be negged.
7893  Economy / Reputation / Re: [Discussion) how to solve negative trust on: May 12, 2018, 06:19:20 AM
First things first: Please move this to "Reputation" since "Meta" is about discussions on the forum and this is about Trust System.

I am the victim of a multiple account charge. i need help from senior.

I do not have a multi account and never made a mistake in the forum. because my friend asked to sell Debitum tokens in my Kucoin market, so I help. is this a mistake?

Its always the friend/mother/father/sister/brother/ (long drawn yawnnnnn) another sibling/spouse/enemy Grin

You need help from yourself. You took the decision of making alt accounts for abusing bounties with these multiple accounts when it is clearly stated in every bounty that multiple account users will be facing consequences. But you had to turn a deaf ear to those and had to take the illegal method to "Cheat" the bounties.

they only have android to work, while kucoin takes 2 devices, one for market and one for google authenticator. so it's hard to sell through kucoin, then ask for help sell for me.

usually they sell through fokdelta and other markets.
And they trusted you to sell the coins for themselves? I would never trust anybody like that. Grin

You trust ratings are valid.
7894  Other / Meta / Re: TMAN'S guide to getting merit. on: May 11, 2018, 04:24:21 PM
I read carerfully your thread,i get the point
You definitely did not read the thread on merit system by theymos.

Quote
i search in forum but i cant understand  how i can give merit to other people
You did not search in the forum. If you did you would not be asking this question.

Quote
only full members and above ranks can give merit to others?
Rank is independent of awarding of merit. If you have merit to award, click the "+Merit" button on the upper right corner of the post which will take you to another page asking how many merits you want to offer that post.

Quote
thanks for the guide
Why say thanks when you did not even read the rules  or the content of this OP, and the threads properly before posting?
7895  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: A successful trader must be an educated trader? on: May 11, 2018, 03:45:19 PM
partially true... a successful trader should have enough knowledge about trading and mining. but an little educated person have much knowledge about trading and a educated person having nothing knowledge about trading.....

Being educated and being experienced about trading is not the same thing. If the education is on trading then it can be compared. Most people here are hobbyist traders and very few people are professional traders - they dont hang around in such forum rather drive lambos. Grin

you need to know a few things in the tranding, how your emotions are controlled while still at level 1 is the lowest level because that's when our patience is tested and our emotions whether it will continue or fall
The more important thing is knowing the basics of trading and then controlling your emotions properly. If you are not going to panic sell then you are good to go. People who get heart attacks from every spike or drop in price are the ones who actually get frustrated by trading and eventually lose money.
7896  Other / Meta / Re: All About Merit. on: May 11, 2018, 03:34:11 PM
@OP
I understand what you are trying to say and let me tell you are not alone. I was once disgusted to see the number of new threads popping up in meta about merit. Now since meta is about discussions related to the forum and merit is a system of the forum - its justified to discuss about it here. Still I had come up with this idea a few months back but it didnt get much of a traction.

Lets Make a new board/section for "Merit Discussion"

The problem is not merit. The problem is that people are not getting it that is why they think it is a problem, at least for their "getting money" problem.
The problem is that people who come to this forum think its the place from where they can feed their family with the petty bucks that they get from signature spamming. This "Who does not like free money" attitude is the root cause of spam.
7897  Other / Meta / Re: Why everyone is chasing for Merit? on: May 11, 2018, 03:27:50 PM
The reason is one: a big payment for the signature. With the increase of Merit, the rank also increases.
Undoubtedly the one reason why people are being crybabies about merit system.

Not all users are concerned about the problem of merits, as not every user is concerned about improving his rank on the forum. Change has shrunk in the bounty of bounty hunters and perhaps ultimately it will benefit the signature campaigns.
If you ask me I am also concerned since there the exposure from the merit sources on different boards is different and there needs to be a gradual increase in the number of merit sources. Applications for merit sources has been posted here and still not reviewed by theymos. I hope they get applied soon and we see a decrease in the number of crybaby/asslicking threads on merit in meta.
7898  Other / Meta / Re: Merit became a business. What to do? on: May 10, 2018, 03:08:07 PM
The problem of converting merits into a forum token is being discussed now very actively.
Lies and made up stories. People just make up new threads about every delusional dream that they have in mind and start shitposting about it everywhere they can. When will you people learn? Tongue

Quote
The number of conversions to a new rank decreased catastrophically.
So is the forum supposed to be the place where get ranked up at lightning speed? Or is it the place where people can make threads to ask questions and discuss different topics pertaining to a specific issue?

Quote
The administration is struggling with this, but not very actively.
They are not struggling. They are happy with the system and thus it will continue. You need to read more before posting shit.

Quote
I think they are happy that there will be a huge number of low rank users and an elite that will collect all the cream from signature campaigns
The only thing you people can think of is campaigns and how to make money from them.
BTW I like that bolded part of the text. Grin

I think they are hoping that the spammy/scammy low rank users will fuck off with their pajeet posting.
Why do I have the feeling that I know you in some way or the other?
7899  Other / Meta / Re: TMAN'S guide to getting merit. on: May 10, 2018, 03:02:45 PM
most of the new users will probably ignore this post. btw thanks for making this post, right now im trying to improve my post quality i think my post quality have been fallen alot although my post quality isnt really that good in the first place but i was able to join some campaigns that has been handled by yahoo before.
Being accepted by some manager in a campaign is not that criteria of being a good poster. Many managers have different yardsticks of post quality and overall its a subjective idea and thus varies from person to person. Since you are willing to improve your post quality I will give you some advice.

1. Post only when you feel you are willing to post and dont post to increase post count.
2. The spam mega threads should be avoided. They are worthless to read or comment in nowadays specially the Bitcoin Discussion, Economics and Altcoin Speculation. Bad thing is Trading Discussion is also going to same place.
3. Try to punctuate properly every post and keep them grammatically correct.

Quote
as a filipino i can confirm

7900  Other / Meta / Re: The future of the signature campaigns on: May 10, 2018, 02:54:49 PM
I think signature campaigns are also a method to spread Bitcoin's adoption.
On a lighter note this is true but then there are many people here who came here just to make money from shitposting. Generally if you are posting quality posts and keeping up the with the discussions then its generally not an issue.

Quote
Many people who never owned a bitcoin or any other crypto come here and become spammers/shitposters,
Literally correct. But then this forum is not your source of earning. Campaings are a side earning that people get while posting some worthy content here.

Quote
or maybe even a good forum member, and receive his first cryptos by doing sig/bounties.
One should not look into signature or bounty earnings from that perspective. That is the "Who does not like free money" perspective - root cause of spam and other things.

If all projects are not even scanned or let say approved by the staff here before creating their announcement and making their official bounty threads is like also welcoming all scam project to gather money for everyone around here isn't it, the  lesser and lesser will join bounty campaign  to avoid them and they will just wait for this token to be on exchange before investing, in this way ICO project wilm die here and spam posting will be reduce ever!!!!

In my opinion so-called "bounty hunters" are the biggest bunch of scumbags running after shittokens and turning this forum into a shithole. If you want to invest in some ICO then you should gather up some money to buy the coins. That is the best method to support them and show your interest in them.
