I see a small error in the graph. There are 2 lines for Little Mouse (1 for 'Little' and another for 'Mouse') and MinoRaiola is missing.
Thanks. I changed my spreadsheet import settings for the last graph. It's fixed now.

What's that? Are you saying Bitcoin isn't fungible?
I mean they sent dirty btc which involved in money laundering.
What I meant is: there is no "dirty" Bitcoin. A Bitcoin is a Bitcoin. You shouldn't let anyone tell you some Bitcoins have lower value than other Bitcoins.
7903  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: My BTC transaction happened TWICE in my Ledger & amount doubled (is it real?) on: May 10, 2022, 10:54:09 AM
But one last question: does these kind of bugs happen often? It feels like I was the victim of an "illusion" somehow, and I'm wondering if I was really owning an extra 0.10 BTC or not?
I saw another post about a GUI flaw in Ledger Live recently. You can consider switching to Electrum. DO NOT enter your seed words into Electrum. See here how to hook up your Ledger to Electrum.
7904  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: My BTC transaction happened TWICE in my Ledger & amount doubled (is it real?) on: May 10, 2022, 10:49:25 AM
When I check Blockexplorer and Blockchair with the address and transaction ID, it only shows 1 transaction of 0.10 BTC.
That settles it: Ledger Live is wrong. You should try to reset it's cache or something.

consider myself lucky...?
Only if you received additional funds on another address. You won't be able to spend an amount that doesn't exist on the blockchain.
7905  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: My BTC transaction happened TWICE in my Ledger & amount doubled (is it real?) on: May 10, 2022, 10:39:41 AM
Enter your receiving address in blockchair.com's search field to rule out a glitch in your Ledger client.

Do I really now own 0.20 BTC
Assuming an exchange or someone else accidentally sent your withdrawal twice: it depends.
  • Legally: you may not be the owner. If they know who you are, they might come after their money. Depending on where you live that may or may not mean something.
  • Ethically: no. Keeping money that isn't yours not the right thing to do. Contacting the sender might even get you a bug reward if this happens more often.
  • Technically: yes. If you have Bitcoin in your wallet, nobody else can touch it.

or is it not spendable?
You could just try, by making a payment to yourself.

This looks sad. I had to lower the vertical axis to fit the graph again:

7907  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: How can you verify the randomness that's coming from a hardware? on: May 10, 2022, 09:04:49 AM
Are we ever going to see truly open source hardware in personal computers
I don't think that's going to help. It will allow other manufacturers to produce the same chips, and the customer can choose which one to buy. But if any of those manufacturers changes something (say a fake random generator) in the hardware, it will be impossible for the customer to detect.

Rolling a dice gives certainly more than 2 bits uncertainty, since 2 bits is one of 4 choices, while the dice is one in 6.
I don't follow. In 4 out of the 6 results, it gives 2 bits (00, 01, 10, 11) while in 2 out of the 6 results, it gives 1 bit (0, 1). Isn't this (4*2 + 2*1)/6 = 10/6 = 1.666 bits in each result on average?
Oh no, no, no, you can't do that! Grin You can't just split and add probabilities at will.
Aren't both j2002ba2 and BlackHatCoiner right? Yes, a dice roll produces 2.58 bits of entropy, but no, you're not using all of it when writing down dice rolls. If you roll 1, 2, 3 or 4, you treat the dice as if it's a 4-sided dice that produces 2 bits of entropy. And if you roll 5 or 6, you treat the dice as if you flipped a coin. So you end up with 1.66 bits of entropy on average per roll.
7908  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [Ann] CoinXC.com - Currency Exchange Rate Calculator for Forums on: May 10, 2022, 08:45:47 AM
It appears bitcointalk.org does image loading thru a proxy of sorts.
The image proxy is meant to prevent tracking (pixels).

Quote
I reached out to see if the caching time on coinxc.com could be reduced!
The proxy doesn't cache anything:
The proxy never saves images to disk. It will pass on Expires headers, though, so your browser might cache the image.
So (Shift) Reload the page to update images.

Here's some reading to do about deMerit:
LoyceV's deMerit source application
I want a way to demerit posts.

For what it's worth: I haven't seen that many posts lately that I would want to deMerit.

SoftSwiss is a big partner of Wazdan and they are interested in getting truth.
What makes you trust SoftSwiss while you don't trust Wazdan? Is that because Wazdan didn't rule in your favour, and told you to pay the player?

Quote
But now there is no any proof of it's fairness
That's not how any of this works. You're supposed to know up front that the games you offer are fair. You don't need to prove that. If anything, you'd need to prove it's not fair, but you can't prove that. So what you meant to say is: "But now there is no proof that it's not fair". In other words: pay the player.

What's that? Are you saying Bitcoin isn't fungible?

Coin validation proposed to offer as a service to trace coins and try to give you a rating about how the history of the coin from your point of view and to offer that as a service to businesses. I think this could be quite dangerous because it goes back to that 17th century court case where now you could receive a coin that is perfectly valid at the time that you receive it, but a few weeks later a crime is uncovered and now your coin is tainted. So if this coin validation service is advicing many of the merchants where you would want to spend your coin at, it's tainted and now the merchant would refuse to accept your coin. That's a strange experience for you; you're holding a coin that you might have to sell at a discount to get rid of it. The aggregate effect of this might create a run on the bitcoin price. So it reopens this long-set legal principle that currency or currency units are all equal.

service which i wanted to top up blocked my account.
The solution is simple: don't use services that tell you your Bitcoin is different than another Bitcoin.
7912  Economy / Services / Re: LoyceV's Bitcoin Fork claiming guide (and service) on: May 09, 2022, 11:25:40 AM
I've added this to my toolbox for my Fork Claiming Service: a space laptop with 2 Linux distributions installed in dual boot. The first is to work on, the second doesn't have internet and now has 5 partition images:
1. A fresh installation with VPN
2. A fresh installation with VPN and BCH full client, synced up to 2010, and set to prune. And BCH's Electrum Fork.
3. A fresh installation with VPN and BTG full client, synced up to 2010, and set to prune. And BTG's Electrum Fork (using wine).
4. A fresh installation with VPN and BCD full client, synced up to 2010, and set to prune. And BCD's Electrum Fork.
5. A fresh installation with VPN and eCash full client, synced up to 2010, and set to prune. And eCash'es Electrum Fork.
The laptop doesn't have enough disk space to keep all full clients.

This setup makes it much easier to handle Forkcoins: I restore the partition I need, boot into it, import the address/pubkey, and let it sync. When done, I take it offline, enter the private key, and create a raw transaction to transfer funds. After that, I boot into the second Linux distribution to overwrite the first partition. This makes offline signing relatively easy without ever risking the private key to untrusted software.

7915  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: SimpleSwap's Weekly Updates: 15 new currencies are available now! on: May 09, 2022, 09:54:48 AM
Since my last post, I've done many more transactions. I've contacted support a few times because the site didn't update (even after receiving 6 confirmations), but it turned out okay. The time to process a swap varies a lot: sometimes it took more than 10 confirmations, but in other cases the output funds were sent and confirmed even before my deposit had a single confirmation. Even weirder: they also did this when my deposit still had an unconfirmed parent! I'm not sure if that's because my account made several transactions in a row, or because I contacted support a few times, or just because it's "normal". Maybe this is a mistake, maybe they just assume the coin I used can't easily be double spent, but I do know I've never seen this before at any other service. It's convenient for the user, but risky for the exchange.
7916  Other / Meta / Re: $1 000: If you can move or delete a post that you are not supposed to be able to on: May 09, 2022, 07:44:05 AM
I don't think this is a good solution because you will always have people making topics in wrong boards, so they will have to be moved eventually.
They can still use Report to moderator.

I don't think that this should be eligible for a security bounty in any case
I didn't think so either. Just some click bait in the title.

Edits are not allowed in Auctions mainly to prevent people from being able to edit their bids, in replies. I suppose there is a potential issue with collusion between the OP and auction participants, and perhaps there are edge cases where the OP could somehow do evil by editing or deleting their own posts in the thread, so I made it no longer possible to move your topics out of Auctions.
Thanks! The only abuse I can still think of, is reporting the topic to move it to another board, after which OP can "do evil" and move it back

You should report this to goLance.

the sender is not so bold but considering thousands of people sending him $110, that's a load of scam money.
It's the modern version of the "Nigerian prince" scam email. Scammers prey on gullible people's greed.

i wonder how theymos feel about this.
I think I won't get the bounty

Quote
But what do you mean by "There's a long known "bug""?
I've mentioned this possibility before. I just didn't know it's in the Security bounty list. And since it's about deleting or editing your own posts and not someone else's posts, I assumed it isn't what the bounty was meant for.
Following the bounty protocol would make it look like I'm after the bounty, for something that looks like "semantics" to me.
