It's simply variability. Hash rate is estimated based on the number of blocks found in a given time period.

It'd cost you over five hundred million dollars to play every possible number guaranteeing jackpot. They are picked by using two rolling cage barrels with ping pong balls. One with 1-64 balls one with 1-26 balls. The odds are around 1:292000000(not exact just use combinatorics) at $2.00 a ticket and $3.00 with the randomly selected "POWER PLAY" multiplier which is 2x-10x. By The Way: - No edge picking your own numbers
- No edge playing when there are less people buying tickets(numbers aren't picked from registered buys)
- Around $340.00 to play 5 numbers with "POWER PLAY" using "MULTIDRAW" at 26 draws. Doesn't give edge just saves you time, gas, wear on vehicle
All lotteries and casino games have house odds that's why the house can payout so much. But someone somewhere will win a lot sometimes and that is what makes you play. So I just did the combinatorics and the result is 1:198,237,312 for the parameters 5 balls from 1-64 and one with 1-26. How did you get 1:292000000? Are you factoring in a multiplier or the cost of a ticket or something?? It's actually 69 and 26. I don't play it so I don't remember the specifics. About the only intelligent material on it on the entire internet: http://www.durangobill.com/PowerballOdds.htmlEither way it's house odds with no way to game it since they don't draw from anything influenced by ticket buyers.. The psychological effect where people learn about the winners is where all the magic happens. They can typically not have to pay out and pay out such numbers and always be ahead, but nobody really comprehends the odds or the time so the herd(potential and consistent ticket buyers) stays manageable.. It's no different from the psychology you find in Las Vegas and other currency traps,,, sweepstakes'''' Those numbers work much better. I can't play the draw where I live but I would buy a ticket if it were available even though the odds are astronomical. It's only two bucks and as you said, "somebody somewhere will win..."

Here's a street view of the house in East Price Hill. I was surprised to see the young boy sitting on the porch in the photo. Usually they blur people out. R.I.P Georta.

Truly this is a tragedy but it has absolutely nothing to do with terrorism or France. East Price Hill , OH is one of the top 5 areas to avoid in Cincinnati if you value your safety.
What's interesting to note is the fact that the 73 year old man had a 14 year old son. I wonder if this old man dealing with dementia or Alzheimer's and was unable to identify his own son. If you listen to the 911 call, the man definitely has trouble enunciating.

A password could be grapes, apples, oranges and pineapples. A fruit salad is any combination of grapes, apples, oranges and pineapples. You don't care what order it's in, because it's just a fruit salad! Now, should everyone's fruit salad be able to open your wallet? That would be cause for concern. Order matters.
If any combination of words can be valid - then it makes it harder for brute force your wallet by scanning text files in your hard drive. Then perhaps I fail to understand your concern properly. If you remove the order, you reduce the complexity and it becomes easier to cracker your passphrase.

There is no more likelihood of the number 0 or 2^32-1 (or anything in between) being the "right nonce" as it depends upon the previous block's hash (which is effectively random). https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Nonce I would say the hash of the previous block is constant and unalterable which is how security is built into the blockchain. SHA256 is not a randomization function.
|
|
|
So is the nonce basically a random value between 1 and 2^32? That is, is the probability that the nonce is 1 the sane that it's any other value?
Thanks
Yes, the nonce of the successful hash has the same probability of being a "1" as it does a "4" or "2 31-1"... BUT For the cryptographic function (with respect to Bitcoin mining): sha(sha(block+nonce)) < target The only variable for any given block is "nonce" which has a finite set of values that would yield the proper result but we can't know what they are without doing the calculation and checking the result against the target. The nonce itself is not a random value but a specific set of values which are unknown. The only way to find the right one is to check the function using different nonces until one of the correct values is found. ...so no, the nonce is not a random number. You might however find a nonce that solves the block by randomly selecting numbers from 0 to 2 32-1

I like that GoSun stove but it's expensive for what it is. I guess that in a few years, price will come down, so I'll get one.
Don't know why they're calling that midget-sized helicopter a drone. If a human can climb aboard, it's not a drone anymore. Does it actually fly with a real man inside?
Well if you read later in the article is describes the drone: [ EHang said that the drone will be totally automated, meaning passengers will input a destination and have no control during the flight. The company says this will make the machine safer by eliminating “the most dangerous part of standard modes of transportation, human error.”] ...much like Amazon's drones for delivering parcels I guess.

A good idea would be to organize this about a theme, like pirats. Then you could organize pirats-related activities and sell pirats food (not need to be real pirat food, but you can do cakes that have the shap of ships for exemple). The best advantage of having a theme would be that you would be able to sell your tickets to enter at a bigger price that you could in a normal carnival.
Interesting concept but is it a good idea to focus the carnival on the negative aspects of Bitcoin while charging more than normal for an entry fee? It's not very subtle. How many times can that work on people?! Do we even know what pirats eat? Perhaps limes? The only pirat(e)s that come to mind are pirateat40 who will be sentenced to jail time on February 3rd, 2016 and altoid (aka dread pirate Roberts) I'm pretty sure they're not allowed to have contact with anything bitcoin or anything remotely investment related right now but we might be able to ask them what pirat(e)s eat. At this point in their lives, I would imagine they just eat "jail food" three times a day but jail food probably wouldn't be a big draw at a carnival. I'm sure there are many more pirates her; they just don't refer to themselves as "pirate". Hey pirates! What do you eat? Feel free to weigh in as an alt.

What a great idea!
So where would this fantastic festival be located? I hope I can make it...I'd easily pay $10-20.
L3X 0H8, not too far from where master-P is located in Aurora, Ontario, CA. L3X 0H8 was gleaned from one of lottery248's posts which have power supplies for sale, just like what master-P used to sell. Yes, lottery248 has distanced himself away from master-P, just like some of 100%-proven master-P sockpuppets have distanced themselves from Alex. Actually L3X 0H8 is located in Newmarket (close to but not Aurora). Newmarket is only ~28km (~18mi) from Canada's Wonderland where for only $40 CAD ($28 USD) you can have an amazing time and not risk losing any bitcoin unless you're carrying Casascius or Lealana on the "Flight Deck"; with 5 inversions and an Immelmann loop at 50mph, you're sure to lose everything in your pockets and possibly your lunch faster than you can say "scam". So yeah, L3X 0H8 is too risky a venture. Stay away!

Wow, I found a 13 letter word, this has to be quite rare.
That looks like the longest real word vanity address yet! Congratulations! How long did it take?

Haven't received many offers. Still looking.
You might want to check your bumping or risk an expensive banned account in your future. I'm pretty sure you're only allowed one bump per day.

Such a fee is weird when you see the total amount of the coins he had sent. If the dude was sending 1000's of Bitcoins, then ok, I could kinda understand that a high fee would do it. Even 0.01-0.05BTC would definitely be enough to be included in the next block that is being mined.
I never said that it was not enough. I don't see the importance/relevance of your statement towards mine. You didn't say that it wasn't enough, that right. But just look at the bolded part. That's why I said what I said. Is that even possible? O.o
Why wouldn't it be? You can include any fee that you want. I'm not sure why you guys are surprised. Even though these events are rare, the fees included are far lower than the highest that we've had so far. Such a fee ensures that your transaction will process swiftly in addition to rewarding the miners. That suggests something right? Yes the way it was worded implied the high fee was necessary for swift processing in this case. Simple misunderstanding.
