81  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-02-16] Ellen DeGeneres explains bitcoin: 'You値l either be a millionaire o on: February 17, 2018, 07:01:13 PM
This is an unpleasant joke:

Quote
Ellen DeGeneres explains bitcoin: 'You値l either be a millionaire or you値l be totally broke'

People do not have to buy bitcoin with the intensity of being millionaires, rich or because they want 2x, 4x, or 8x profits ... people can buy bitcoin if they want to make purchases with more privacy and if they look for something decentralized, they do not have to be investors, when someone says words like these: You値l either be a millionaire or you値l be totally broke, this scares people and many people may think that bitcoin is some ponzi scheme or gambling... I like her program, but she should call technical experts to explain the technical aspects (she could have called someone from Bitcoin Core to this function ) and she should have also called some analyst who could be someone from the bitcoin foundation

Looks to me more like a social talk than anything real or serious about bitcoin.

and she is inducing people to think badly about bitcoin

Ellen is considered to be someone who is very influential and for her to leave remarks as such just gives a certain aspect of the whole picture. She failed to genuinely conceptualize what Bitcoin is and people like her who is very popular can instanly give a wrong notion about this platform making other people have the same perspective. This is why I believe and agree with Strong death with regards to his feels about Ellen's statement. This is why education is important. Bitcoin is not just an investment, it is capable of being flexible to provide other services. Wishing that more people would know the true concept of Bitcoin and would justify its structure rightfully.
82  Other / Meta / Re: After the Merit System on: February 17, 2018, 02:51:06 PM
Therefore the activities are decreased than previous. But the merit is important to level up.
Activities is not decreasing, they're constantly growing up no matter what happen or system to be added.

For Legendary / Hero (Who got enough sMerits ) :
Sir , be more generous to give Merit. I know merit will not decay. But what is the reason to save. Even when I got few merits to give , I was thinking where to give. It's complex,I know. But you guys have enough , you guys could apply to Theymos to become merit source if you don't have enough. Right now you guys could solve the problem.
The statement that you said to hero members/legendary, they are generous on giving merits. They're just looking for those who deserves merit and worthy posts.

Another thing is, you said that we should not target for merit and put an effort on making quality post then why addressing hero members/legendary to be generous on giving merits. You're like begging to them to be generous, let them be the one who decide where the sMerits will go. They're the high ranks in our forum so maybe they know what will do to it.

I agree with Throwing Daggers. I am unsure with what you're trying to imply because you tend to contradict yourself from one statement to another. Higher ranked members has been here for a long time and I guess they know way better than we do so let them have the freedom to decide who are deserving. All of us here have the freedom to choose who we think are worthy of merits. With regards to them being generous, I've noticed that most higher ranked members are truly out there giving an effort reading post per post just to share what they have. We will all have our time, just as long as we do our part. It's not about the generosity, it's the effort we give that makes us worthy of receiving the merit. I do believe that hard work won't go unnoticed in this forum, we just all have to be patient.
83  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Singapore will not ban cryptocurrency on: February 17, 2018, 10:09:40 AM
Singapore is one of the most developed countries in the world, there is no doubt that they will allow innovative ventures to further strengthen their progress. This is to hoping that other countries would follow Singapore's lead in being open to change and advancement. Showing the world how Bitcoin can improve a country's current state, may it be in the economical aspect, is a big step towards Bitcoin adoption.
84  Other / Meta / Re: Not merit, demerit is the way to go! on: February 17, 2018, 05:01:21 AM
Merit system is working and better than demerit system(if to be implemented). Why?

1. Because having merit would boost your morale. Because every merit you've received was all from hard work, your hard work. With this, people are recognizing that you have contrbuted something in the forum. I'm sure you'll feel the same way too when you receive one.

2. Because having demerit makes things more difficult. Having negativity on your account would decrease the trust of people who're surrounding you. Do you really want people to picture you with the number of mistakes you have? Plus IMO, if have demerits i would rather not show up in this forum again.

I agree with Thirio. We don't need more negativity in this forum. With people not appreciating the merit system and not choosing to see the good in it, having a demerit system would just worsen the situation even more. The merit system is made to recognize efforts that are deserving. Through the merit system, we get to encourage other members to do better while the demerit system would just let other members bring down the others. We all need to help each other out in making this forum back to its best state.
85  Economy / Economics / Re: Will countries or central banks create their own cryptocurrency? on: February 17, 2018, 03:36:51 AM
Despite the development and boom in cryptocurrency, with regards to how our government work, I don't think that the central bank has the motivation to create their own cryptocurrency; instead they want to try the implementation of the usage of Bitcoin. Our Central bank has been dropping hints lately on how flexible Bitcoin is and how they want to adopt its system and implement its usage. I guess it needs a lot of studying before they push through with it. On the part of other countries, I guess when its adopting to progress they are all for it but it's how they can't gain control over cryptocurrency is what worries them.
86  Other / Meta / Re: Finally I am a member here after the merit system on: February 16, 2018, 05:21:32 PM
Glad to see a member like you who is motivated by a certain circumstance that dismayed many. Thank you for being a living proof that even as a newbie in this forum, if you give an effort with what you do, you can get through the obstacles confidently and earn the merits that you deserve to rank up. I know ranking up should be the least of anyone's concern but I remember being an excited newbie awaiting to rank up to prove my capabilities and credibility. May your story continue to inspire others to not give up as hard work would not go unnoticed in this forum! Kudos to you and may you continue to spread the positivity in this forum. Smiley
87  Other / Meta / Re: How To Get Merit ? So Fast on: February 16, 2018, 09:41:37 AM
someone, can anyone teach / sharing about how to get merit quickly?
and is there anyone here to give me merit? haha just kidding Grin Grin

Per policy:

you will get no merit and more likely a neg from actions like this..

retarded fella

You must be psychic, or something.

Cheers.

This is why people should treat this system seriously. This system was formed to bring back the forum to its optimal state where people can constructively share their opinions, ideas, and knowledge to help raise awareness or educate the other members. Treating it as a joke just goes to show what kind of member you are in this forum. I hope that sooner or later, people would start realizing the weight of this system and how it was established for the betterment of everyone and this forum. Nothing worth having comes easy, and that is one lesson that is enhanced with this system. The effectiveness of this system will highly depend on the members, so let's all make an effort to make this work and not just feel like everything should be just spoon fed and earned easily.
88  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-02-15] Austrian Bitcoin Scam: 10,000 Victims Lose 12,000 BTC- $115 Million on: February 16, 2018, 02:16:23 AM
It amazes me that people still haven't figured out how a Ponzi scheme works and the alarm bells don't start ringing when they see that they have to bring in more users in order for the system to work?

Or perhaps, what is even worse, these people know that it is a Ponzi scheme but they are counting on the fact that they will have won their investments back by the time the system implodes, which would mean that they would be knowingly bringing people in and trying to scam them out of their money.

I don't know what is worse: Ignorance or malintent.

It can really be heartbreaking and frustrating to see people believe in such agenda when it is too obvious that there is something fishy about it. This is why awareness and education is really important. People should really start doing their research so as to avoid situations like this. I don't know when people would start believing that when things are too good to be true, the chances of it being real is very slim which is why we should not let ourselves be fooled by such "opportunities". Scam has been rampant, but people has yet to learn and it's saddening.

90  Economy / Speculation / Re: I bought at 19k, now what? on: February 13, 2018, 10:48:55 PM
I understand how frustrating it can be to see the value of your money continuosly decline over the past few weeks. To redeem it's value back, I guess the best thing you can do is just wait, be patient, and hold. Bitcoin already has reached its resistance which is why sooner or later, it would rise. Selling won't do you any good and justice for your investment, so just hang in there. You will get back your money or even have it multiply in value soon enough.
91  Other / Off-topic / Re: will all country accept bitcoin as a currency in future or it will restricted ? on: February 13, 2018, 09:41:59 PM
Right now, there are many complications when it comes to the adoptation of Bitcoin which is why its widespread use regularly has been prohibited by higher officials accordingly. In the future, hopefully under the right circumstance, Bitcoin would be accepted to work hand in hand with fiat. Let's just all remember that Bitcoin has to coexist with local fiat to allow proper usage and adoptation.
92  Other / Off-topic / Re: Tips on how to improve grammar skills on: February 13, 2018, 10:43:37 AM
I do understand that grammar plays a big role in posting constructively. However, you should know that good grammar would not matter if what you'll be posting would be nonsense and uninformative. Incorporating interesting information with good grammar would bring you far in this forum as more people would be able to understand your message and also be enlightened with what you shared.
93  Economy / Economics / Re: You missed all the trains, not just bitcoin on: February 13, 2018, 01:56:09 AM
Missed chances and opportunities are the worse. I know that many threads here involved asking if it's too late to invest in Bitcoin and I often answer that it's never too late as long as you set a certain goal to achieve. These cryptocurrencies are chances that we have to get to know. I really think it is never too late for us, the early investors just have a slight advantage.
94  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: You can actually buy a lot of things with Bitcoin on: February 12, 2018, 11:18:53 AM
That is true that you can buy many things with Bitcoin but even if you don't its actually not a problem anymore as you can convert it to cold hard cash. Because people who are saying Bitcoin failed as a currency are stupid as it is still has a value and if people or any businesses are not accepting your Bitcoin someone will accept it in exchange for their cash. Even before Bitcoin got higher transaction fees and slow transactions I always convert Bitcoin to our local Fiat currency as I see it more practical to use.

What Harlot said is true. Despite the decline of Bitcoin over the past few weeks and the complications with the transactions, it's flexibility still has given it so much value that even if there is lack of platforms to use it, you can still convert it to your own fiat currency so that it can be used at your comfort. Although this defeats the purpose of cryptocurrency, the practicality of having it converted outweighs the other factors making it more efficient to use. At the end of the day, your source is Bitcoin and with Bitcoin there are so much things you can acquire either in its own form or converted to fiat.
95  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-02-11]Iceland to use more energy mining bitcoin than powering its homes on: February 12, 2018, 09:33:01 AM
It is crazy and not sustainable, yet I can't think of why it might be a problem.

I guess it would be a problem if Iceland's Energy Authority starts prioritizing mining more Bitcoins rather than serving their people by providing ample energy for their homes; but I guess they all have it figured out. I just hope that equal amount of energy is given to the other aspects that needs such amount of energy to function as to not cause any trouble or chaos with regards to the distribution of energy.
96  Economy / Economics / Re: Will Bitcoin volatility prevent adoption? on: February 12, 2018, 07:31:11 AM
Yes bitcoin's volatility prevents mass adoptions woldwide. Lets take this situation, a company X gives salary to the employees in bitcoin and suddenly the price of bitcoin increases and after few days it decreases again. It will be a huge loss for the company and what is the reason? Volatility.

In my opinion, bitcoin can be adopted but not a mass adoption because volatility is preventing it.

What LogitechMouse said is true, the volatility is really a great factor in considering adoption because there are many risks involved in it. The volatility can directly result to losses which is something many of us is trying to prevent so that unfortunate circumstances would not occur. However, I really think people should look into other factors aside from the volatility since Bitcoin has a lot of potential. If we can be able to adapt to its volatility and consider margins for its movement then adoptation would not be much of a problem.
97  Economy / Speculation / Re: HODL or SODL? on: February 12, 2018, 05:47:01 AM
Despite the continuous decline we have experienced over the past few weeks, I think that the most effective and profitable strategy tp do doing these times is to hold rather than sell. Selling won't give justice to your investment since you would end up losing more rather than gaining. That mere fact shouldn't let you consider selling as an option. In investing in Bitcoin, you have a goal and I believe that you should hold on to your Bitcoin until you reach that goal. So I guess, holding is really what one should do to assure profit. Patience is just really needed when you choose to hold.
98  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Good news ... Arizona Senate Passes Bill To Allow Tax Payments In Bitcoin on: February 12, 2018, 03:19:52 AM
Definitely a good news! Finally, something that is new and does not involve the government being against Bitcoin adaptation. Hopefully this would be approved and be the start of influencing other government units to actually see cryptocurrency in a positive light and even consider its usage rather than its banning. This is one giant big step towards the spread of  Bitcoin awareness and I hope it will all go well.
99  Other / Meta / Re: The reality is 99.9% members can never rank up with the new merit system. on: February 11, 2018, 03:02:56 PM
Let's say that your statistics are right, that only 0.1% of the totality of the members would be the only ones who would rank up while the rest would remain with their ranks, so what? Why is ranking up so important? Is it because of the big pay? Ranking up should be the least of anyone's concern if their intention in this forum is genuine and that is to learn, educate, and help one another when it comes to dealing with cryptocurrency. If one does not receive merit even though they are doing a great job in being constructive, then they should not feel bad about it because at the end of the day, merit is just a recognition. What matters is you're being a responsible member of this forum. The merit should just be a bonus, other than that one should remember that posting something interesting or informative is a duty, spamming is not.
