81  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: VERITASEUM DISCUSSION THREAD on: May 31, 2017, 10:56:33 PM
How do you swap VERI back to ETH via myetherwallet (or any other ether wallet out there) once these token start trading, please? (Instead of using an exchange, I'm presuming you can do a straight swap within the wallet as VERI are ERC20 compatible.... but I'm horribly new to this so may be totally wrong. Please help!)

Has anybody got a basic step-by-step instruction or link on how to do this?

I'm guessing the procedure is similar to how you had to purchase them during the ICO?
You use swap, and intend that there will be an exchange of VERI for ETH. Without use of a distributed exchange like etherdelta or 0x there is no enforcement that both parties exchange funds.

You would have to use a contract to make the trade you imply. Simply agreeing to exchange VERI tokens or ether would have no obligation.

I suppose you could use an m-of-n multi-signature address to hold both. This certainly makes it a lot more complicated than you probably want.

The original transaction for VERI purchase was mediated by the ERC20 token contract that was written to manage the offering of the VERI tokens. I am sure that when these are trading in volume we will exceed the original price. I would hold if you can.

I didn't mean to imply any sort of impropriety regarding the supply of tokens.  I'm just trying to understand what the ecosystem and liquidity environment will look like for the individual early adopter, who likely won't actually be using the tokens in the same way as institutions.

The tokens are a software object, exchangeable for services. Reggie and team have already released an eye opening valuation of the GNOSIS token. If you read that you should be able to make a decision on whether you wish to be long or short that token. This type of analysis is valuable and readily will give the purchaser a market edge.

The GNOSIS report was free. Future analysis will be exchanged for VERI tokens. I believe Augur (REP) is up next.

The institutions will come in to play in the future because their clients will want access to Reggie's expertise on Blockchain and Crypto products. These type of players will want large blocks of VERI to distribute to clients, or use themselves. Suppose a major bank wanted to offer this type of research to their clients? They would not be able to buy ONE report and distribute it because of copyright issues. They could offer token's to their clients and they would be able to purchase the reports they were interested in ala-cart.

Or maybe they would purchase an unlimited bundle, the going rate so far appears to be approximately $1,000 for a report, distributing this to 1,000 clients would take 130,763.775 VERI ($1,418,344.54 @ todays rate.)

A large institution would probably negotiate that down, say 75,000 VERI for unlimited reissues. This information is actionable, and is time sensitive.,So getting this in front of as many of your paying clients as possible is the best way to demonstrate value.

Using this link you can see VERI. You have to enter the public address for it and all that but it comes up and viola...somehow 10:1 with ETH Smiley
https://etherdelta.github.io/#ETH-0x8f3470a7388c05ee4e7af3d01d8c722b0ff52374

Oh ok, I somehow missed that etherdelta allowed arbitrary ERC20 tokens. Yes this should function, though since it isn't easily accessible in the UI, so it may take awhile to get some volume.

Also we only have one side of the order book with no takers...
84  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: VERITASEUM DISCUSSION THREAD on: May 31, 2017, 06:05:27 PM
Looked at the EtherDelta website.  My thoughts:
Didn't see a bid/ask or any offered price for VERI on EtherDelta even though the VERI ticker did appear for me using the coordinates we used for ICO transactions.
Cheers!

VERI has not been added to the list of swappable tokens for etherdelta. You may wish to contact the admin to let him know you are interested in this Token. I see that BAT has been added just recently so he is updating the list frequently.

Even tho I think the project is a good one with some good real tech, I feel the fatal flaw will be the lack of distributed tokens.
I would feel alot better about this ICO if there were millions more tokens released.

They are divisible to 18 decimal places. I think the metric you are looking for is the Gini coefficient: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gini_coefficient Bitcoin has tended to distribution of assets over time... At some point you can lead a horse to water and you can't make him drink.

Through divisibility the VERI will become more valuable over time. This will allow people to buy in a stake without having to spend a lot of money. I had a conversation last year when Bitcoin was $400 and told someone, to buy $25 to start. The incremental costs in acquiring fractional values of tokens or coins is nominal and a better long term plan due to Dollar Cost Averaging which smooths out the peaks.
86  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: VERITASEUM DISCUSSION THREAD on: May 26, 2017, 06:32:43 PM
You just contradicted yourself. If everyone who wanted or needed VERI bought in the crowdsale, why would there be high demand when the token hits the secondary market?
The demand would be less as there is no timeline to get some and the platform has yet to prove itself.

I suppose I could go and create a report to determine how many of the 880 ether sent were from addresses that already purchased. My point was of the 1,852,839.76 VERI issued, only 26,400 VERI were requested after the contract closed.

My estimate on demand is that teaser for the beta is due shortly. I would recommend those that sat on the fence follow this closely as it will be a limited test of 200-300 dollar value for existing VERI holders.

If there is enough interest I might set up a swap facility for the ERC20 token to provide some liquidity. It is also possible that this can be done through 0x a distributed exchange introduced at Consensus.

87  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: VERITASEUM DISCUSSION THREAD on: May 26, 2017, 06:03:10 PM
There is a lot of bad jump destination kind of error if you look at the transaction history of address 0x599A4b8188676224D4C9B393B947E332B60b15e3, mine included, but I still got my Veritas when I added the custom token. Not sure what exactly is the persistent problem.

What I am worried is whether the Veritas that I have is validly recorded into the smart contract.

People are still sending eth to it? A lot of people

Contract is ended. If you look at your transaction in etherscan for instance, you will see a Cancelled. which means the ether was returned to you. If you have tokens, was that from an earlier sale?

By my calculation, 880 Ether were sent to the contract after the epoch ending time. This is a small percentage of total raised. I believe we will see an immediate demand on the secondary market, and that those who needed or wanted VERI had already bought.
88  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: VERITASEUM DISCUSSION THREAD on: May 26, 2017, 05:06:39 PM
Congratulations to everyone in the ICO. If you missed getting in you will be able to buy these on the market. Do not send ether to any address posted here unless you confirm with Veritaseum. There is no way to guarantee a posted address is held by veritaseum unless they have published it on their website. Even if the address is accurate, a post may be edited in the future!!!
89  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: VERITASEUM DISCUSSION THREAD on: May 26, 2017, 04:59:40 PM
Can someone please verify that this method is still open so I can at least send the ETH and receive the tokens?

it is extremely dangerous to send ether to a commented ether address that may be modified. I understand this can be frustrating, and it is better to keep your ether and participate in the after market than lose your ether!
90  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: VERITASEUM DISCUSSION THREAD on: May 26, 2017, 04:54:53 PM
I've been trying all day but couldn't get the transaction to go through. The ICO finished at 14:30 EST.

Pretty disappointed I couldn't send the transaction.

I guess you can still buy them this way. From the instructions:

Quote
We have set an alternative address to accept ETH in exchange for Veritas (VERI), where instead of going through the more involved automated process below, you just send the ETH of the amount you wish to convert to VERI tokens. You MUST send the Ether from a ERC20 compliant wallet! If you don't know if you're wallet is compliant then use Myetherwallet. You run a strong chance of not getting your tokens if you send ETH directly from exchanges such as Coinbase, Shapeshift or Bittrex. Nkw...
Simply send ETH to the manual VERI purchase address at DELETED. We will then send you the corresponding VERI tokens to the same address that you sent the ETH from. Please allow 48 to 96 "business" hours (not including weekends and holidays) for the turnaround.
You may then use the address of the VERI token (DELETED) to view, transfer, trade or whatever you wish to do with your tokens. You can follow-up with your send and purchase by emailing mailto:veritas@veritaseum.com. If you want immediate access to your tokens, see the steps outined below.

Please confirm all ether addresses based on veritaseum information on their website.
Do not send any ether to an address you have not confirmed!!!

I tried 1,500,000 Gas,

I cant buy this token and not happy, this contract will not work

Is the ICO finished? I thought there were at least 5 hours left but the timer has been taken off the website

ICO is over. https://www.epochconverter.com/

The contract is from 1493130600 to 1495809000! time is calulated in seconds from the unix epoch.

91  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: VERITASEUM DISCUSSION THREAD on: May 26, 2017, 04:31:22 PM
I cant get this contract to work, i cant do this ICO, it just says this when i try:   there is a bad jump destination

Contract 0x599a4b8188676224d4c9b393b947e332b60b15e3
Warning! Error encountered during contract execution [Bad jump destination]

Only a few hours left for the ICO.

Bunch of transactions rejected. I looked at some, the gas price seemed low. Instructions say 80,000 for gas. If you're sending 10 ether over bump that up! I suggest doubling to 160,000 on gas which equals 20 cents approximately. The ethereum network maybe getting overloaded. increasing your gas will give your transaction priority!!!

Update, i'm wondering if this is a timing issue and not GAS. the ether stats page looks ok.
92  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: VERITASEUM DISCUSSION THREAD on: May 26, 2017, 01:25:58 PM
That said is there an option for cold storage?  Any heads up would be good. Likewise what exchanges are open on this?

For cold storage any Ethereum address will work. Just send them from the myetherwallet to that address. You will have to import the private keys into a token aware wallet in the future if you want to spend them.

Since veritaseum released VERI as an ERC20 token, this will work on distributed as well as central exchanges. If you have an account on a main exchange open a support ticket to have VERI added.

93  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: VERITASEUM DISCUSSION THREAD on: May 25, 2017, 07:18:47 PM
Over 33kEthers raised so far and still counting

Even more interesting is how many people are in the initial sale offering, 2,711 transactions. Probably a few of those are multiple buys so we have a pool of under three thousand that is interested in this token.

Once the product is producing that will drive the real price discovery!
94  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: VERITASEUM DISCUSSION THREAD on: May 25, 2017, 04:43:03 PM
"Think VISA ... right now you buy something (at a gas station, on Amazon) and the bank that issued that Visa card is the third party intermediary trust that brings both sides together and they take their 3-5%"
Yes $0.30 + 2.9% of the transaction normally. This covers chargebacks and the cost of fraud that all card holders bear. With blockchain transactions there is no chargeback, and fraud well it's sort of the wild wild west still.

My question was not on the valuation of the VERI token long term, but on how fees would be collected which Reggie compared to a Hedge Fund's management fee structure.
95  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: VERITASEUM DISCUSSION THREAD on: May 25, 2017, 02:24:02 PM
Reggie said Veritaseum is Skynet for Wall Street!
I take this article to mean that mom and pop still have a ways to go before realizing that there are benefits we VERI insiders are just chomping at the bit for!

There will be advantages to early movers, the benefits of automation are just beginning to be realized!

"I do find it slightly odd,” said the chief operating officer of Europe’s largest bank, referring to its survey of more than 12,000 consumers in 11 countries published Wednesday. Just 7 percent of respondents would trust a robot with their savings, versus the 14 percent willing to submit to a machine for heart surgery."
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-05-23/hsbc-discovers-consumers-trust-robots-for-surgery-over-savings

I re-watched the presentation on Veritaseum vs a hedge fund.

Turning wallstreet on it's head:
https://youtu.be/7Ex61XG3QEo?t=360

Not charging a thing. Only at cost on transactions.

We will charge you 3% research and 2% engineering:
https://youtu.be/7Ex61XG3QEo?t=400

1 and 10 % fees in Hedge Fund vs Veritaseum of 3 and 2 % fees:
https://youtu.be/7Ex61XG3QEo?t=430

Only way to get this access is, the financial machine will digest research and buy tokens. Research is this machine. Actually buys tokens, it has confidence in.
https://youtu.be/7Ex61XG3QEo?t=816

Once the offering is done, reserve after offering is reserved for institutions:
https://youtu.be/7Ex61XG3QEo?t=876

I ran Reggie's scenario, and I come up with a 22% annual return difference on the

$100,000 AUM, with a 300% return:

1&10%......Hedge Fund.....................vs 3&2% for Veritaseum.

Year 1.......After Fees........$369,000.....vs.........$391,000
Year 5.......After Fees   $80,389,454......vs....$85,182,322

Can someone from Veritaseum comment on the 3&2, Reggie lumps them together as 5% vs 11% and I think it is important, are we charging 5% on Assets Under Management and including the annual return, or are we breaking them out separately? The difference in a down year would be important.

This article talks about the value proposition of a mutual fund with a low fee:
Dividing 2.1% in fees by the 5.3% expected market return before fees provided a true picture of investor cost. A 5.3% expected (before cost) return divided into 2.1% per year in total costs comes to 40% of expected return lost to expenses.

So I don't know if it's been discussed, but after ICO in 2 days, can we expect VERI to appear on exchanges?

As a ERC20 [1] token, this will be very easily handled by distributed exchanges such as 0x [2] If you have an account on an exchange, open a support ticket and ask them to add it. I know we're all excited to see the market discover price. My analysis is that the tokens will be quite valuable.

Since the ICO is coming to an end, I think it will be good to make the bounty list sheet participants list public, I joined the twitter campaign some weeks ago and can found the list to know whether I'm accepted or not. Good luck

Agreed, as a VERI token buyer, I appreciate the efforts of all who raised awareness of this initial token offering. We are coming into the final day of this offer and things are just beginning to get exciting!
98  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: VERITASEUM DISCUSSION THREAD on: May 24, 2017, 05:48:46 PM
Thanks for the answers, but for future offerings they have the remaining 49M, no?

per most recent post on the website, management is saying:
"It is strongly recommended that interested parties purchase Veritas from the intial token offering,
for after the offering close you will either have to purchase the tokens in the open market or pay a material premium to purchase it out of Veritaseum inventory."

http://veritas.veritaseum.com/index.php/16-the-gnosis-gno-forensic-analysis-and-valuation-report-our-inaugural-digital-asset-research-release

We've got two days left. My analysis is this is a bargain at this price.
99  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: VERITASEUM DISCUSSION THREAD on: May 24, 2017, 02:48:07 AM
I am afraid by that time Bitcoin would go way much higher (based on what I know) that it may not be as profitable (if not more) investing in Veritas compare to Bitcoin.

Yes. You must make that decision for yourself. No one has a crystal ball. I believe that diversification is crucial. If there is another segwit fight, Bitcoin could take quite a hit.
100  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: VERITASEUM DISCUSSION THREAD on: May 23, 2017, 07:44:30 PM
1 ETH = 30 VERI

What would happen to the rest of VERI not sold?

Right now they sold 23,938 = 718,140 VERI

Is there a minimum cap required?

The address to see tokens issued from ether is here https://etherscan.io/token/0x8f3470a7388c05ee4e7af3d01d8c722b0ff52374?a=0x82c48875c17ee5812f909a9d75c0f64f7a8719fe

There was a bonus in the first days of the token issuance, currently 866,021 veri have been distributed.

The remainder that are unsold are retained by veritaseum. It is understood that these will be offered to large investors at a future date - as the VERI are the only way to access the research and services.

While other tokens have been issued in the crypto currency space with burns at the end of an ICO. I believe that by retaining these after the initial sale this is a demonstration that the company will be able to raise cash to cover burnrate and service interested parties that wish to acquire the VERI after they are demonstrably useful.
