82  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Whales questions? on: November 28, 2017, 01:00:01 PM
Ah, so many questions haha..

Personally, I think you'd have to have 1000+ bitcoin to be considered a whale..

There is so set price a whale likes to sell their bitcoins at - this is different for everyone..
I thought a few whales would be cashing out at the 10K mark, but that doesn't seem to be happening.

Only Jamie Dimon knows how many bitcoins he has -  he's not stupid enough to let out that information.

Whales could certainly dip the price if a few coordinated a huge sell, but honestly at this point I don't think it would dip too far because the buyers demand is so strong. I'd actually love to see that happen so I could gobble up some cheap bitcoins.

There is no 'list' of whales as such but there are lists of the biggest wallets/addresses.
Its anyone's guess who those wallets belong to though..
83  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's your biggest regret about bitcoin on: November 28, 2017, 12:33:42 PM
Like most people here, my biggest regret is that I didn't invest heavily into bitcoin when I first learned about it in 2013..
I also should've bought way more when I first started collecting bitcoin last November when the price was $800-$900.
I was way too bearish back then, but now I' bullish AF..

That said though, I have made some very nice profits on bitcoin and altcoins over the past year so really I shouldn't have any regrets at all..
84  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin hits the mainstream in Australia this week - WOOT! on: November 28, 2017, 12:15:47 PM
.... Well, maybe not quite. But yesterday Bitcoin was featured on Channel 10's 'The Project' (major nightly news panel/talk show) and tonight Aussie electro  artists, Peking Duk gave a shoutout to the 'bitcoin and crypto-nerds' while accepting their ARIA award..  Shocked Grin Cheesy

This is absolutely huge for getting those conversations started and spreading the crypto love here in Australia.

A year ago when I first started trying to convince friends and family to invest in bitcoin, none of them listened or cared, but this week I've had people basically begging me to teach them. I've even set up my mum with her very first bitcoin wallet this week.  Shocked

So Aussies, where you at?

Do you think we're finally seeing the start of Bitcoin hitting the mainstream in Australia?
85  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you research the company before participating in a bounty? on: November 26, 2017, 07:53:35 AM
Just wondering if this is something everyone does, and what questions you need answered before you are comfortable participating (and actively promoting) an ICO?

Most definitely, I think you should always conduct your own due diligence if you're going to go to the effort of promoting something..
Even then, you still can't be certain that a particular project won't end up falling through..

The first question I ask myself is: Is this something I want to promote? Is this something I'd be happy to put my friends and family on to?
I only promote projects I genuinely believe in, but that's just a personal thing..

I then look at things like:
Who are the devs?
Does the project have a properly qualified team?
Whitepaper, Roadmap, clear purpose?
Community?
Social Engagement?

It also gives me more confidence when I see the Bounties are managed by reputable Bitcointalk members or that the devs are active and transparent.

On the other hand, some people don't care and are happy to Tweet/Facebook/promote whatever, as long they get their free tokens at the end..

You just need to work out where you want to fit in and what works for you.

Good luck! Smiley
86  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ANN [DECENTRALIZED] Bitcoin Diamond - Proof Of Stake Version Based On Bitcoin on: November 26, 2017, 06:54:24 AM
the snapshot complete yestoday , so i just want to know when will receive BCD,thanks!

This is a different Bitcoin Diamond - this is not the forked Coin..
Check the tickers when you buy because its going to get really confusing..

There is BCD (fork), BID (this one) and BTD (another)

I'd imagine these two altcoin 'Diamonds' are going to get a pump because people will think they are buying the forked coin..
87  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is this for real ? another fork of bitcoin ? BITCOIN DIAMOND on: November 26, 2017, 06:42:14 AM
What the eff?!  Huh
This is getting so confusing - its a tsunami of shitcoins!!

So let me get this straight.. there are THREE Bitcoin Diamond's??

One being the 'fork' of Bitcoin (BCD) http://www.btcd.io/index.html

One being this Altcoin (BID) https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2439554.0

And yet another being this Altcoin (BTD) https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2394472.0

All launched this month!

Am I seeing this right?!

Be careful chasing these Diamonds, people.. Don't mess up and get the wrong one..

89  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is this type of trading possible? on: November 24, 2017, 01:30:53 PM
It's definitely possible but varies from country to country. Anywhere that does so will usually require you verify your account with your ID.

In addition to ones already mentioned, I use Coinjar (Bitcoin) and Coinspot (Altcoins) in Australia.
Both of these are super easy to use and allow you to trade between crypto and fiat (Australian Dollars) and withdraw as fiat.

90  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi Nakamoto is coming to town! on: November 24, 2017, 12:54:13 PM
Here is my cringy but funny adaptation of 'Santa Claus is coming to town':

Oi Banks!

You better watch out,
You better not cry

You better not pout

I'm telling you why
Satoshi Nakamoto is coming to town.

He sees the banks,
He knows that they’re all shills,
He hates their dodgy work all the year round,
Satoshi Nakamoto is coming to town.
He sees them when there’s a recession,
He watches their corrupt manipulation,
He knows that they’ve been quite very bad,
So he came up with a plan.

You better watch out,
You better not cry
You better not pout
I'm telling you why
Satoshi Nakamoto is coming to town.

He was sitting in the office a summer’s day,
when he came up with this coin,
he called it Bitcoin and waited,
and wow, now it’s up 10k

You better watch out,
You better not cry
You better not pout
I'm telling you why
Satoshi Nakamoto is coming to town.

The banks were sad,
They tried to stop him,
But they failed pretty bad and he stuffed up their plans
And Satoshi Nakamoto saved us all.

Yeah!

And Satoshi Nakamoto saved us all!!!!!

91  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][POWR][UPDATE] *** POWER LEDGER TOKEN SALE STARTS FRIDAY 8TH SEPTEMBER *** on: November 22, 2017, 01:19:58 PM

Very good to know about the power ledger meeting and updates. In the beginning many people mentioned power ledger is going to scam but today the value of power ledger and Australia government showing lot of interest towards it.

Anyone that was saying this project is a scam is an idiot and obviously has other motives.
This is one of the most active teams in the crypto space and Dr Jemma Green has recently been made Mayor of Perth -  you couldn't get any more public facing than that..

The team are speaking at a Melbourne Blockchain event tomorrow and I missed out on tickets  Sad Sad
I'm on the waiting list.. fingers crossed..  Tongue

I was hoping for some news. Hopefully the Dev, Kawi is working hard and will update us with lots of news.
yeah, new dev is working very hard to get this project started, join our telegram group, he does reply there from time to time

I've never used telegram. How do I join this group?

On a side note, wouldn't it reach more people if communication was on bitcointalk? It reaches new people and it also keeps a nice record of what has been said.

I agree, Too much chatter goes on in Telegram groups and its hard to keep track of what's going on..
I prefer to do all my reading here  Smiley

96  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: | NEO Smart Economy⚡Now a Top 10 Cryptocurrency⚡| Official Thread |Updated Aug10 on: November 18, 2017, 12:46:18 PM
Is China allowing ICO’s again?

https://rmbtheory.com/china-allowing-icos-neo/

China has been cracking down on ICO’s and Cryptocurrency exchanges, but tides are changing. It seems that China is once again allowing ICO’s to make use of China’s market, under one condition however.

This is an article based upon the writers analysis and market speculation.

This condition is that NEO will most likely be used as the smart assets platform when conducting an ICO in China. This is because NEO is a Chinese open source public chain platform and it is not a secret that China prefers to keep things in Chinese hands.

After China’s ban on ICO’s, it has been quiet for a while. Even though that the most logical outcome would have been what now seems to come true. Which is that NEO will be leading China’s block-chain and cryptocurrency future. Onchain which is also run by the same CEO as NEO, Da Hongfei, has been in direct contact with the Chinese government for a while now.

Right now there are several Chinese ICO’s announced that will use NEO as its platform. There is also an ongoing ‘Decentralised applications’ (dApp) competition, that is looking for possibilities to combine its dApp(s) with NEO. These announcements come right after China has had its 19th Communist Party Congress. During this congress the Chinese Communist Party, strengthened its power by standing behind its leader: Xi Jinping. His vision of China is an optimistic one, where China is the new world leader. The world leader, especially in fields such as innovation and technology.

China, NEO and the future

NEO has put up and announcement in Chinese. According to Chinese sources, this is the type of ‘hype’ announcement which can be categorized as mysterious.

NEO announcement

In this mysterious announcement, it says that in 3 days NEO will give us some news. This news will most likely regarding the future of NEO as a whole.
But this future will most likely also be the future of China when it comes to crypto. This is a sign of strength, a sign that China is looking for a long time partner in regards to block-chain and crypto.

The next Chinese party congress will be held in 5 years. These upcoming 5 years will be crucial for China to really make its position as a world leader stronger. By allowing ICO’s in collaboration with NEO, it seems that China is ready to put NEO’s potential to use. China’s ‘One Road One Belt’ iniative, is a development and connectivity strategy proposed by China. This strategy will most likely include forms of technology as well as block-chain technology. No matter if NEO is China’s chosen one, the rest of the world will have no choice but to follow.

So this is the news that is making NEO pump?
Great to see NEO reach this value once again..

There is information that exchanges will accrue to all holders of Neo-Gas

I just noticed that my main exchange (Coinspot in Australia) is paying me GAS for the tiny amount of NEO I left in there so there are some exchanges already doing it.
97  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ICO] VIBEHub | Crypto Based Virtual Reality Marketplaces & Hubs on: November 18, 2017, 12:21:53 PM

Just catching up on the last few updates..

New logo and site mockups look great. Nice clean design and I think the name change to Social is a wise one.
I was excited to read the new roadmap and I'm really looking forward to release of the ad platform next year..

Once again a huge thanks for constantly keeping the community in the loop.

Should be a great 2018  Cheesy

100  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Any new airdrop coins? on: November 17, 2017, 11:17:44 AM
Question to the community

Would you like us to list all airdrops, or only the 100% legit ones?

The amount of airdrops starting is increasing. The amount of airdrops that barely passes our analyst approval is also increasing.
The % of airdrops where the dev runs away after dumping his coins is growing, which forces us to review our listing policy.

Its best that the obviously dodgy ones are filtered out as much as possible. Although some are definitely borderline and hard to determine one way or another.. Keeping the quality up will be helpful to the community. The dodgy airdrops are getting out of hand!

Is there any ANN thread available for this one?

I don't like the trend that everybody is posting Google forms only. Absolutely no information about the coin, because 2k retweets. Airdrop hype is crazy atm.

Totally agree. Please post links to ANN threads or a website with some info. Posting links straight to a Google form is annoying.
