81  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I lost 80% of my bitcoins in alts, What can I do now?! on: January 19, 2018, 11:19:50 AM
I always hold at least 50% of my money in bitcoin to avoid situations like this, because despite everything it is still the most reliable coin out there. I think 50% should be the baseline. If you love taking risks, you can go below that percentage; but I would advise against it.
82  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Future of Stellar on: January 19, 2018, 11:13:33 AM
I would definitely hold. Everyone is hopeful about XLM and it is displaying some real value. Although the price decreased during the recent crash, I'm fairly certain that it will pick back up; especially in the long run.
83  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will binance and OKEX exchange close? on: January 19, 2018, 11:10:13 AM
According to the news, in the current state, China is considering to ban domestic access to these exchanges; so if the ban goes through, these exchanges shouldn't be accessible from China, but for the rest of the world everything should be hopefully OK.
84  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitconnect to the Moon! on: January 19, 2018, 10:59:24 AM
Weird how people continued to invest in bitconnect until the last moment, even though a lot of reliable sources were saying for a very long time that bitconnect is a scam project. I'm sad for people who had invested and lost their money, but this just goes on to show us that we have to be careful about our investments and that not every single coin is easy magic internet money.
85  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Still believe in ICO ? on: January 19, 2018, 10:56:06 AM
There is no reason to lose trust in the ICOs. It's just that you have to be more picky nowadays, because people have realized that it's very easy to trick people out of their money using ICOs, so you've got to do your research before investing in one. Other than that, good ICOs are still producing value and hopefully will continue to do so.
86  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-01-15] South Africans are selling their cars for Bitcoin on: January 17, 2018, 06:49:26 PM
I don't know why people find this surprising. Bitcoin = money after all. Although, I think the people who sold their cars for btc are pretty unhappy right now, with the price being miserable right now and all that jazz. But hopefully, when the price eventually recovers, they will end up enjoying this courageous decision that they made.
87  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you keep buying? on: January 17, 2018, 06:44:18 PM
I would keep monitoring the market at the moment, but if you feel like the price will eventually increase, these few days might be a good opportunity to buy. Maybe the price has fallen down to $10K for the last time in a very long time, so if you have money available and if you still trust btc, why not buy?
88  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why I love this Bitcoin crash on: January 17, 2018, 06:40:18 PM
The crash may be good in terms of the price correcting itself and going back to a positive trend in the long run, but what I dislike about it is the fact like everyone acts like this is normal and are trying to rationalize the crash as if this was planned off guard. Let us not act like this didn't catch all of us off guard.
89  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who is buying bitcoin now? on: January 16, 2018, 08:27:20 PM
If I had some additional money around, I would definitely buy more right now. Although I can understand people's uncertainty as well, since a lot of people are anxious right now and fear that the price may fall even further. It all depends on how much risk you are willing to take.
90  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Global crypto market down - what may be the reason? on: January 16, 2018, 08:19:57 PM
It's due to news coming from China. This had already happened in the past, and it's normal for markets to react like this initially to such news. What we must do right now is to not panic and keep hodling, and hopefully the prices will return to their old status soon enough.
91  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The price of Ethereum reached a historical maximum of 1000 $ on: January 14, 2018, 05:04:52 PM
ETH is going to be massive this year,as the anaylsts says it will reacheupto $8k by the end of the year.
Do you think that ETH can overtake BTC in market cap?

I think that is unlikely. Bitcoin is bitcoin, it is a powerful locomotive. Lot of talk about it and many know. The Ethereum still not so popular.
Why are you saying ethereum is not popular than bitcoin. But this article tells the different thing than it. https://www.ethnews.com/ethereum-processed-over-44-more-transactions-than-bitcoin-in-last-24-hours
As far as i know the fact that the more people will know about what ethereum is. Since bitcoin gets stuck on its network and a lot of people are using ethereum.

Yes, among those who are in the subject... Ethereum is really more popular. And those who came to the market, or those who have heard something about cryptocurrency? Do you think if you ask people on the street, what kind of coin they will be more called?

I was with you up until very recently, but when I talk to people about cryptocurrencies, everyone has heard about bitcoin but recently, although they can't pronounce it correctly, they say they have heard about ethereum as well. So bitcoin may still be in first place, but ethereum is definitely catching up.
92  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is still Ok to invest in Etherium on: January 14, 2018, 05:01:16 PM
If we are talking long term, ethereum is one of the safest bets out there. Since the price is high now, it may fall down in the upcoming days, but if we're talking about waiting for a couple of months, then I think ethereum is one of best choices.
93  Economy / Speculation / Re: Reasons why Bitcoin is droping: on: January 13, 2018, 10:11:22 AM

Reasons why #Bitcoin is droping:

- Not a single rebrand since 2009
- No "huge news" or "strategic partnerships"
- Not enough airdrops
- Not enough PhD graduates on the team
- Team not doing bounties...
- Logo is not cool
- Satoshi is not being communicative

This was tweeted by person named Crypto Rand, what do you think about his tweet . I think these reasons always exit but Bitcoin is still very expensive, I would like to know your thoughts on this

I would say that guy, whoever he is, got it all wrong and has no idea of what he is talking about. No huge news or strategic partnerships? First bitcoin is already mainstream in terms of awareness. Bitcoin is still talked all over the place, so I don't know what he means. As for partnerships, I just have to say that bitcoin is decentralized, so why would it have strategic partnerships? The only thing that can happen, is to advance in terms of regulation, and be accepted as a payment method, and that is happening slowly (expect for the payment method thing, but that is because of the fees involved in tx).
"Not enough PhD graduates on the team" is he serious?? The bitcoin dev team is the best in the crypto space, and no other coin even compares with it, so that is just plain wrong.
As for the other reasons pointed out, they just seem irrelevant as a big joke. Bitcoin needs some development, in order to solve it's scalability uses and user interface, but that is being worked out. Even recently I read something about Jonas Schnelli trying to create ways for everyone to be able to run a full node by itself, without having to be a tech savvy.

Okay, How do you see the Bitcoin future with its transaction fee and speed issue ? Now there are faster and lower transactions fee coins, and more secure coins as well which cannot be traced, So considering these facts do you think coin which is more potential than BTC should lead the crypto currencies ?

When it comes to money, not everything is black and white. Humans are not rational after all, when it comes to dealing with money. Bitcoin's image at this moment is way important than its technical shortcomings because people trust bitcoin. No matter how great the technology of a new altcoin may be, unless people start trusting it the way they trust bitcoin (and we all know how much of an issue trust is, even for bitcoin); it will not reach its potential.
94  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I'm late! on: January 13, 2018, 09:10:49 AM
You're never late. There is a long time until the market is saturated and the prices stabilize. We are all still early birds at this moment. Cryptocurrencies look like they are going to be around for a long time, so I would regret it later on, if I wouldn't learn about crypto at this early stage.
95  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-01-12] Paul Krugman Is Excited to See Bitcoin Have Issues on: January 13, 2018, 09:02:03 AM
Well, you hold conferences for experts to exchange ideas and how to better your product. If the product at its current stage cannot be used as a payment method; then yes, it's not perfect, but this can be improved. The fact that bitcoin is so popular despite its current problems goes on to show you how much more important it will be once those problems are solved.
96  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Not sure if i got scammed. Help? on: January 13, 2018, 08:59:11 AM
Check the address of your wallet in cryptopia and make sure it's correct. If you sent bitcoin to a non-bitcoin wallet, then sorry but that money will be gone. If you sent it to the right wallet, then it might take some time for the funds to appear in your exchange wallet, be patient. Check how many confirmations cryptopia needs for you to see the funds in your wallet.
97  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: XRP or XLM on: January 12, 2018, 08:51:10 AM
If it really is your last bit of money I would suggest you to not invest at all, since altcoins are very volatile and you can lose all or most of your money in such a short amount of time. If you mean lsat bit of money in terms of dust remaining from previous transactions, I think I would go for XRP in the short term, since XRP may have another pump once the market stabilizes.
98  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: one more crazy pump? on: January 12, 2018, 08:47:51 AM
I think for another major pump, especially for altcoins, the price of bitcoin has to start having a positive trend. For some weeks now, the price of bitcoin has been fluctuating around the $14K mark, but once that trend starts to go upward, I think more money is going to start coming into the crypto environment.
99  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-01-11] MoneyGram to Pilot Ripple's XRP Token on: January 12, 2018, 08:46:02 AM
Pretty much everyone knows by now that ripple is going to be supported by banks and major financial institutions, so this news is not news to me. And developments like this will surely drive ripple's price up in the short run, but giving control of a coin to centralized financial institutions is dangerous and makes the coin very susceptible to manipulation.
100  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-01-12] 97% of all bitcoins are held by 4% of addresses on: January 12, 2018, 08:42:42 AM
Maybe the numbers are off a bit, they are making assumptions after all. But I also believe that a huge percentage of bitcoins worldwide belong to a small number of people. I believe that te dump towards the end of 2017, where the price crashed from $20K to like $13K in such a short time would not have been possible if huge whales were cashing out at the same time.
