Any timeframe for the KGW update? I am sure there is a few of us that want to pump the price up once it's safe to do so. No one wants to kill the coin because of a multi-pool attack.

Some premine coins:
- Pandacoin PANDA 3% premine that is 90% of total mined coins. Sold 1% for 250 BTC IPO.
- Ultracoin UTC 50% premine, currently accounted for 95% of mined coins. Sold over 100 BTC IPO.
- iCoin ICN 1% premine. No IPO yet.
If you don't like premine, don't invest in it. No one forces you to buy or mine iCoin. Don't post silly comments.
If i could buy 30-50% from that Premine, i would pump it 10x or more from current price with around 150 BTC to spend.
The problem doesn't come from Captainhook nor source code, it's already good, very fast sync,working stable and nice graphic.
The problem is Devs have no money to pump it. Check Pandacoin, they use 250 BTC from IPO to pump it and net hash is growing amazing.
Stop blaming about premine or someone, come up with IPO plan and anyone can invest in iCoin.
I like iCoin, I mined iCoin, I bought some more iCoin and I will hold my iCoins. This coin could have a great potential. The change to KGW at this early stage of the coin is a good decision. Itīs a really great news. I donīt have a problem with a 1% pre-mine, if the dev is working for it and have a long term concept. The iCoin dev looks like they have a concept. 5.000.000 coins = 500.000 blocks x 3 minutes = 104 days of mining. Thatīs a lot and I can understand, why some people are thinking, that it seems to be a little bit greedy. The first reward halving will be after 250 days. At the end of this first stage there will be 17.800.000 million coins. At (only) 5.000 satoshi this will be worth 890 BTC = $580.000. With a good marketing and some luck 50.000 satishi or even much more could be possible. The new logo and the new website are some good steps. I although believe that we could have success in the market with this great name. This name is worth a lot. To build up more trust at the community it could be a good thing for the dev to be very transparent. At this stage the community will be the tipping point. I would recommend to make the dev coin addresses visible at the OP and to make a list with all spendings and bounties. Nobody is working for nothing, but tell the people a little bit more how you will spend some of your coins for the success of iCoin. After this the people will see, why you need a pre-mine. Edit:
If we have to make a hard fork, it could be a good thing to think about some more changes to make iCoin more unique. Maybe a feature like NeoCoin (users can send instant messages with encryption within the client to another clients wallet) or a coin mixer or...
In my opinion the block time should be < LTC. I would like a block time < 1 Minute. LPC for example has a block time of 15 sec. and itīs working nice.Symbiont, first and foremost thanks for your long-term support in iCoin and your awesome suggestions. It's so great to have a community that believes in iCoin and takes the time to actively voice their opinion. So many thanks on that front! In reference to creating transparency about our 1% premine, that's a priority that is of utmost importance to the iCoin team. We currently have some great ways to represent this, and with the help of our designer, we will have a clean crisp way to display our commitment of distribution, how exactly it will be conducted, and over what time period alloted. Have there being any push towards Cryptsy?
Not yet Nightlander. We won't want to get on Cryptsy for another month or two, due to our current lack of merchants. If we get listed on Cryptsy without any consumer value, will our price go up? Absolutely! Will it have stability? Unfortunately not. We need to provide an incentive for long-term stability so that upon reaching the masses, users will feel more compelled to hold iCoin for long-term value as opposed to execute pump n' dumps and treat it like crap, which is commonplace among many other currencies. So, in short, yes Cryptsy (and BTER and Coins-E) are on our growth map, just not currently. |

Bitcoin is taking a hammering today, now is the time to buy if you believe virtual currencies have a future.
What does concern me is the amount that was dumped out for iCoin in one go on coinmarket.io. That is around 40 000 coins in one hit. I will do some investigations on the main premine account
of captainhook to make sure it was not him, but it was most likely a mining pool or big miner that dumped out after the promotion.

I would suggest staying away from mining promotions until the block rewards have halved this year and focus on giveaways where people receive small amounts at a time.
It's good that the premine is being spent and a lot more wisely then most coins but I feel giving 100 ICN for block finders is only benefitting the miners that really don't give
a shit about iCoin and just want to dump out.
I have no doubt this was a miner with big network hash that dumped out, everyone in the team is buying up iCoin like everyone else at these low prices. Some of my own btc was within that order that got sold. The premine will all be used to the benefit of iCoin as discussed with Captainhook last week. The price has already bounced back to 3200 on coinmarket.io the last I checked. The iCoin will start drying up again now that the mining promotion has ended and this will have a positive impact on the price. This is even without the plans we have in place for iCoin. I have just noticed what has happened on coinmarket.io, the person who dumped out put in a order for the same amount at 1110, so just traders trying to make extra iCoin. That is a really good sign but maybe a dumb move if no one sells out that low. lol Yes, in one sense it's humbling to know that we've created enough traction that iCoin is actually a target for "Pump n Dump" or mining manipulations, but on the other hand we're absolutely looking for the users who hold long-term and build value alongside the community And yes, myself and Viperbass and our audio/video guy were just talking about the mining promotion earlier. Although it's a great way to generate interest, we likely should have waited until we have a larger market share and most importantly (as you mentioned) the block rewards halve again, so it can validate a promotion! Our mistake, learning a lot here, but it's all going to curve us in a positive direction with iCoin. |
