81  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: OFFICIAL CGMINER mining software thread for linux/win/osx/mips/arm/r-pi 4.9.2 on: October 15, 2015, 06:12:21 PM
Well supposedly I'm getting an S7 - so it would be soon after that if it happens.

Hi kano,

A little birdy told me that Yoshi was going to contact you about the S7 actually - maybe drop him a line to remind him? He does forget things sometimes....  Wink Smiley

I'm wondering why is Bitmantech hiding the dirivers/cgminer source code for the newer miners. The dirivers/cgminer source code for AntMiner S5 was the last one released to public. Maybe Bitmaintech is hiding something, or does not wan't for the drivers to be ported back to S5 (from S5+)? Since cgminer is licensed under GPL V3 I would expect Bitmaintech to release their modified code publicly, since they are selling it in a commercial product.

Hi,

@ManeBjorn, could you please check which version of cgminer is running on this miner. Is it 4.8.0? It is probably displayed on the first page when you login into the miner's web interface. If possible, please post screen shot of this page.

Thanks!
83  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Sfards: SF100-the first 28nm Dual-Mode Miner gets into mass production on: September 10, 2015, 12:29:15 PM
But they sold very little to public.  This shows likely a big buyer or themselves are mining with them.  As I think they would not just drop product after having chip work.

Yes, this is equal to failure. If they were to mine by themselves, then why spam bitcointalk and telling false promises to users? If targeting a single (few) mega buyer(s), again, why bothering with false advertising for the public?
84  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [∞ YH] solo.ckpool.org 0.5% fee anonymous solo bitcoin mining 98 blocks solved! on: September 10, 2015, 09:35:58 AM
Wow ... block no. 100 approaching, well done, ck and solo miners!

btw: I heard that block no. 100 will hold a full 100 BTC reward as a feature of BIP 100, but keep this info secret! Grin
85  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Sfards: SF100-the first 28nm Dual-Mode Miner gets into mass production on: September 10, 2015, 09:31:07 AM
I have a feeling of this miner being a complete and total failure. High price, low to none availability. Sfards, why do you even bother to shit on bitcointalk, do some teasing and advertising, and then not providing anything at all for the community? All I see here in this long thread is hundreds hours spent of users, looking to find something useful and ended up having nothing but false promises.
86  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: I am floating an idea here a sidehack usb stick solo pool. on: September 09, 2015, 07:19:01 PM
Phil did you start the creation of the pool ??

no I need help with proxy as I never did one.  I do have many quality pc's in my house   that can do the work.  But my skill at setting up a proxy is basically 0.

So I can provide a pc and run it  I just need help to set the pc up.

or if we have a trusted person willing to do the proxy on their server that works.

Phil, I can set it up for you on your PC ... after the initial config is done, you'll just use the web interface ... PM if you're interested, I'll do it for free (it's my pleasure Wink ).
87  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] ccminer 1.6.6 with pools and API - opensource (tpruvot) on: August 31, 2015, 07:41:44 PM
It's really great to see constant development and open-source engagement in ccminer! Here are some tips for the devs (already sent tip to tpruvot a few days ago):

Keep up the good work and try to keep this project opensource and as much as possible in a single fork - it's much easier for the users this way...

88  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] sgminer v5 - optimized X11/X13/NeoScrypt/Lyra2RE/etc. kernel-switch miner on: August 28, 2015, 07:06:01 PM
I get only invalid shares any ideeas beside regenerate DAG file?

You're asking in the wrong thread, sgminer has nothing to do with Ethereum (try here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=428589.0;topicseen) ... and related to his - it would be nice to get some better miner besides the clumsy ethminer for mining Eth ... it's really bad that Eth devs didn't include stratum support in Ethereum ... development of mining software and even providing better pools would be much easier if there would be stratum support directly integrated into Ethereum...
89  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] ccminer 1.6.6 with pools and API - opensource (tpruvot) on: August 28, 2015, 07:00:03 PM

tpruvot, thanks for the new release, it is really good to see always up-to-date ccminer development and releases! Here is a small 0.1 BTC tip for you: https://blockchain.info/tx/669606aff5c01f9da376384a61d9871b5704f4eb52c4c2d885e6611b05d4e6ed

And keep up the good work (I wish that there would be someone who would also keep sgminer as much up to date as ccminer is Wink ).
90  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: I am floating an idea here a sidehack usb stick solo pool. on: August 25, 2015, 10:23:31 PM
The other two sit and do nothing.
One is an i7 4790k with a ssd and 16gb ram internet is 50 down 15 up  cat 6 wire.  I am thinking that could do a proxy easy.
Or I can do it on a lower powered i5  with good ups backup for the server and the router.

You could easily run several proxies on these kind of machines. You just have to keep in mind that you would have to open a particular (specific) port from internet to your PC ... basically other "stickers" would then use stratum+tcp://philipma1957-public-ip:selected-port for connecting their sticks. And you would configure the proxy so that it would connect to your selected pool(s) - this way all hashing power that would come from other stickers, would be redirected to selected pool(s) ... I really encourage you to look at https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=611338.0;topicseen ... it's really easy to setup, examples and instructions are on the GitHub: https://github.com/Stratehm/stratum-proxy
91  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: I am floating an idea here a sidehack usb stick solo pool. on: August 20, 2015, 07:53:23 AM
1. Rent a minimal linux cloud virtual server (many providers now accepts Bitcoin).

2. Install proxy on it (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=611338.0;topicseen), it also has GUI, available via web browser, you can bind it to server's public IP address; configuration is easy.

3. All "stickers" Wink point their sticks to the proxy.

4. proxy uses solo pool as target pool.

5. Monitor statistics via proxies web GUI interface.

6. Cross you fingers Wink

Good luck!

(since Bitcoins will be generated to single address in case you find a block you also have to select one "sticker" that will later split the reward among "stickers", I guess that would be you, phillip)
92  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ethereum: Welcome to the Beginning on: August 16, 2015, 08:55:07 PM
Hi,

I wonder why the Ethereum devs went on a completely new protocol for mining and not support the industry standard stratum protocol for mining? And furthermore, are there any plans for adding the stratum protocol for pooled mining of Eths? This would definitely broaden the options for mining, more pools would be available, the mining itself would be more decentralized and new mining software could probably emerge on the basis of existing projects (from existing crypto coins). So why reinventing the wheel on a task as simple as mining is? Please share some information on this topic.

Kind regards,
kenshirothefist

djm, you should really explain, why you made your sgminer with diff multi 256, but your ccminer with old lyra2 diff multi 128? This has caused a lot of confusion among miners.

Yeah, exactly ... since tpruvot already adapted the diff multi 256 for lyra2rev2 for cpuminer-multi I suggest you to change ccminer diff multi to 256, and make new binaries ... and other devs should follow you (sp_, etc ...) ... this should be fixed asap.
94  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Vertcoin - 1 | ASIC - 0 | Lyra2RE | Decentralised | GPU Mineable | Open Source on: August 13, 2015, 06:38:27 PM
To answer your question:
first I am the author of all those versions. metallicjames was rather a pre-release, and after that I decided to change the difficulty to 256, as it was allowing miners to get more shares. so apparently the other followed more the pre-release version that the "standard version".
also at that time, I was using verter, and this was the parameter which was giving good aggreement between the hashrate reported by the miner and the pool...

I can always change that setting for lyra2re (but technically it should have been 256)

OK, please post here once you'll release a new version with 128 diff for the original lyra (and possibly add the aforementioned aliases for lyra2 algos - similarly as badman74 did in his version for the original lyra2).
95  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin: The End of Money as We Know It documentary is out! on: August 13, 2015, 06:36:06 PM
it can help in bitcoin if it will share for free for publicity purpose..
only those who know what bitcoin already is the one who will watch it..
i hoped it will be shared for free someday

I'm sure it will be shared for free someday by the authors. But first we (the ones that we are already aware of Bitcoin importance) have to support the authors of this documentary by aping the small fee for purchasing the video. Then it can be released for free for the masses ... nobody can't make such a professional documentary for free, and thus the authors have to be supported.

Hi. Valerian from TheProtocol.TV here. It's $5.99 for both the download and stream. Once you purchase, there's a big DOWNLOAD button on the bottom of the stream. Thanks for your feedback. We'll make it more apparent in our next iteration. Cheers! -v.
Thanks, but you really REALLY need to accept Bitcoin payments. Especially for a piece like this, but in general as well.

You CAN pay with Bitcoins on TheProtocol.TV ... https://www.theprotocol.tv/bitcoin-the-end-of-money-as-we-know-it/

it is not free, where I can watch it for free ??

Buddy, nothing is for free. Buy it on https://www.theprotocol.tv/bitcoin-the-end-of-money-as-we-know-it/ for approx. 0.023 BTC and thus support the authors of this nice documentary.
97  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Vertcoin - 1 | ASIC - 0 | Lyra2RE | Decentralised | GPU Mineable | Open Source on: August 12, 2015, 09:02:42 PM
Hey, djm34,

May I ask you why did you change the diff adjustment from 128 to 256 in your miner for the original Lyra2RE algorithm?

algorithm.c

all other miners (official https://github.com/sgminer-dev/sgminer, badman74's https://github.com/badman74/sgminer, James Lovejoy https://github.com/metalicjames/sgminer-Lyra2RE, etc.):

Code:
{ "lyra2re", ALGO_LYRA2RE, "", 1, 128, 128, 0, 0, 0xFF, 0xFFFFULL, 0x0000ffffUL, 4, 2 * 8 * 4194304 , 0, lyra2re_regenhash, queue_lyra2RE_kernel, gen_hash, NULL},

your miner:

Code:
{ "Lyra2RE", ALGO_LYRA2RE, "", 1, 256, 256, 0, 0, 0xFF, 0xFFFFULL, 0x0000ffffUL, 4,2 * 8 * 4194304 , 0, lyra2reold_regenhash, queue_lyra2RE_kernel, gen_hash, NULL},

The issue is that obviously minority (or none) of the miners were using your sgminer version to mine the original Lyra2RE coins. Now since your version is popular, it won't work on existing Lyra2RE pools (without explicitly setting diff multiplier option, which is "deprecated" and hard to set if one is using configuration for multiple algorithms). Please correct your repo and set diff to 128 for the original Lyra2RE algo. It might also be wise for you to build new releases for the changes you recently added to your repo.

Another thing that would be good for you to add are aliases for algorithms (when using with -k or in config file) Lyra2RE == lyra2re, Lyre2REv2 = lyra2rev2 ...

Thanks and keep up the good work!

Kind regards,
kenshirothefist

If I pay for the Film using Bitcoins on TheProtocol.TV, do I have the option to download it, or is it just for on-demand view via net?

on TheProtocol.TV just on-demand view
you can purchase the HD download for $7 here https://bundles.bittorrent.com/bundles/bitcoin-the-end-of-money
vimeo also has download for $10

Yeah, it's a pity that TheProtocol.TV only offers the on-demand view, I like to have it on my drive ... therefore I went and bought it on vimeo, used the DECENTRALIZE coupon for discount (unfortunately they don't accept Bitcoins...). Just watched it. It's professionally made and liked it. It's a bit hard to follow in the begging with all the facts about the history of money (would probably need like 10 separate documentaries to explain all about it). I really liked some interesting facts and quotes, some inspiring thoughts. It's also a nice add-on to other documentaries like "The Rise and Rise of Bitcoin" ... go ahead and watch it Wink

Hi,

What is the minimum CUDA Compute version that GPU has to support in order to use this ccminer? I have a couple of older Quadro GPUs with CUDA Compute capability 1.1 ... will this work? I'm only looking to play around with them, I'm well aware that these old GPUs are inefficient and inappropriate for mining...

Kind regards,
kenshirothefist
