81  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [Holiday Merits] - Post Your Favorite Altcoin Post of 2019 on: December 25, 2019, 08:42:12 AM
Thanks Drai, you're paid many complements to me and flattered me quite a bit. I did give some merit to Cryptoneur for another post (since you can't merit in that section). He's definitely been on the rise with activity and has been leading several discussions that interest me as well.
You have also been an inspiration to me and I aim to be like him someday in this forum although offline pursuits has not given me the chance to be as active here, but I do appreciate what guys like you are doing here because Bitcointalk forum is definitely one of the backbone of Cryptocurrencies and without it, many people who are in the Cryptocurrency space and are enthusiastic about this futuristic technology wouldn't even know of it's existence.
82  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptocurrency will survive on: December 25, 2019, 08:37:56 AM
Yea but unfortunately, some greedy whales did not get the memo and are doing their best to manipulate the market as much as possible while making a boatload of money in the process, thankfully there are more than enough cryptocurrency enthusiasts who has nothing but love for Blockchain technology and Cryptocurrencies and with our combined efforts and positivity, we can make Cryptocurrencies what it is meant o be.
83  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would a Crypto Based Economy Make Things Safer? on: December 24, 2019, 03:31:07 PM
Some of the crime commited worldwide are not even commited for monetary gain and many people who abuse drugs are among the upper echelons of society and it is no news to see celebrities who are under the influence of one substance or another and some even dying from overdose of those substances.. my point is that while a fair and equal financial society might greatly reduce crime, it definitely wouldn't stop it entirely because some people do it for the thrill.

Additionally I don't think that this equal financial society can be done with bitcoin because Bitcoins total supply is just 21million and there are billions of people world-wide and majority of the bitcoins in circulation are held by few people compared to the world's total population.
84  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I enjoy posting on bitcointalk on: December 24, 2019, 03:20:44 PM
Apart from just enjoying chatting, Bitcointalk gives users the opportunity to earn while doing what they love doing, there are so.many social media out there, Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter and so on and all are geared towards one aim... Connecting people and being social but none of those forums usually offers a unique earning opportunity such as Bitcointalk and I think this in itself is very awesome.

And apart from that, Bitcointalk is one of the few places where you can get the latest Cryptocurrency news around the world, once something happens anywhere in the world and is connected to Cryptocurrencies, it is almost guaranteed that you would see it in this forum that day it happened, this forum is just one of the best, it keeps cryptocurrency enthusiasts connected and informed and most importantly, compensated for having fun.
85  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think 40% bonus is too much for early Investors? on: December 24, 2019, 03:13:58 PM
All these are just marketing gimmicks, the team set the price of the token and then claim to be giving40% bonus for purchasing the token, they could have just set the token as a lower price with no bonus, for example you see some projects giving 100% bonus, for example if the token price is $0.1 per token, they could easily have made it $0.1 with no bonus but a bonus sounds better for them because it makes people feel like they are actually receiving something extra for investing, only teams who don't care about a project would give that kind of bonus for purchasing the tokens because they are setting the price up to fall later and when I encounter such projects, I don't take them seriously.
86  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why Consider All Altcoins Bad on: December 24, 2019, 02:46:45 PM
There has been so many terrible Altcoins out there and people has fallen victims of many more of them and this people definitely hasn't been taking their losses quietly, like you said, there are over 3000 Altcoins out there but the actual number is over 5000 with many more that has scam exited and this has generated a lot of negative attention for Altcoins but it's not all bad, there are some good Altcoins out there but when you compare all the coins in the market and check the number of good ones compared to the number of bad ones, you might start thinking that it's a scam too.
87  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why do people still fall victim to obvious scam? on: December 24, 2019, 02:39:56 PM
This is why platforms like Bitcointalk was born, not only to keep people informed on the latest news and development surrounding Bitcoin and Cryptocurrencies in general, but also to know what is going on around them including the scams that is going on around, Bitcointalk might have served to keep many people informed but we have to note that many Cryptocurrency enthusiasts are not in this forum and has no way of differentiating the real from the scams because they have no idea about what to avoid. All they know is that you could make money from Cryptocurrency so they see every seeming investment opportunities as genuine.
88  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum Price Peak = $ 1,432.99 USD (Jan 13 2018) on: December 20, 2019, 09:03:00 AM
Vitalik Buterin said the ethereum foundation sold 70,000 Ethereum for a whooping $100,000,000 during the ethereum price ATH, when Ethereum hit it's 2018 low and hit the neighborhood of $70+, they could have easily bought back the amount of tokens sold during the ATH with just a fraction of that $100,000,000 (5% to be precise) and nobody knows if they did just that, so it's definitely possible that they might hold much more than they even sold cos they might have bought back a lot of Ethereum, not including the ones they might still hold.
89  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Will ETH dump even more due to PlusToken? on: December 20, 2019, 08:58:03 AM
Any body who has even the minimum experience in Cryptocurrencies should know that Ponzi schemes are a No No because it would always end in one thing... Lamentations and I am not talking about the book of Lamentations in the Bible, I am talking about the real tears and gnashing of teeth. Ponzi fundamentals is very simple, collect from new members to pay old members and when more and more people gets in and the money becomes very large, the owners would just scam exit, it always starts like an amazing deal but it always ends in tears but the sad fact is that there would always be victims.

Ethereum price peaked to almost $1500 per token in early 2018 but when the admins of Plus token finally decided to dump those Ethereum, we might be seeing another massive plunge in ethereum price.
90  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: don't rely on gift tokens, balance your time with other things. on: December 19, 2019, 12:18:16 PM
This goes without saying, there is an old saying that goes like this... "Don't put all your eggs in one basket" and anybody who still does that especially when it pertains to free tokens definitely is someone who is not serious to make money in this space, the Cryptocurrency space provided a unique opportunity for everybody to earn good money and it would be very bad if people don't take advantage of it as much as possible.
91  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How NOT To Get Scammed on: December 19, 2019, 08:47:50 AM
steps that we have to do is save sites that you might use for transactions or trading, such as exchanges and wallets, bookmarks in the browser you use
Sometimes it's not even websites we have used before that steals our information, it's mostly new websites that we have never used before and some people tend to google them and sometimes end up in the wrong websites, we can never be too careful and most importantly, we shouldn't use the same password for every website we use because your password could be stolen from a website that isn't even financially related and used to hack your financial accounts.
92  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [Warning] Binance CEO's Fake AMA And Fake Giveaway! on: December 19, 2019, 12:35:35 AM
Just when you think that you know all the tricks, scammer would just start a new trend that would be nothing short of genius, but one thing that everybody should note is that when it involves giveaways, no exchange would ask you to send them funds in order to receive the giveaways especially when it's something like an AMA,infact any smart person should know this, if an exchange wants you to make a deposit, it would be to your own account in that exchange and not an external wallet, people should stop looking for handouts like this and really think before they jump into every giveaway. Thanks for sharing, it would be helpful to many.
93  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: You selling to buy Xmas gifts or using bitcoins to buy Xmas gifts? on: December 18, 2019, 11:56:03 PM
Honestly, I wouldn't be able to purchase the gifts I want with bitcoin especially in my location right now, but I could easily convert some bitcoin to fiat currency to do this and I am thankful that I decided to wait for an improvement in the market before doing this, I was supposed to get the gifts earlier today but I just couldn't bear to sell any part of my bitcoin at such low prices so I decided to wait for an improvement in price, that improvement just came tonight and I am thankful that I waited.

The best gift you could give to yourself this Christmas period is to buy yourself some bitcoin, I have a feeling that the year 2020 would be a good year for bitcoin and you definitely do not want to miss out on that.
94  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Will Dogecoin Be a Good Investment in 2020 on: December 18, 2019, 11:49:24 PM
Firstly, I have to remind you that when Dogecoin was listed in Binance, CZ tweeted that it wasn't listed because of any development strides, that it was listed purely because it has an active community, so this is a coin that is very old but hasn't done much in terms of development and we are talking about a 1000% or more price increase? I don't think that's realistic at all because there are far better candidates in the market now, but I have seen crozier things happen before and when the alt season comes, everything would moon for mooning sake, like what's happening in the Cryptocurrency right at this moment.

Anyways for future price discussion threads like this, you might wanna post it in the Trading section of the forum: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=8.0
95  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I earned my first merit How to use it. on: December 17, 2019, 04:47:53 PM
And in less than 8 days after your first merit, you also earned an additional 9 merits, well you can't really use merits for anything, it's just a system that proves that you are eligible to rank up in the forum and I congratulate you for gaining 10 merits because this means that you are now a member rank, while you cannot use merits, you can use sMerits which is spendable merits that you could send to others when you feel that they have made quality posts or posts that you like or is helpful to you, this keeps the cycle going.
96  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will centralization keep its dominance on the crypto industry forever? on: December 17, 2019, 04:38:14 PM
I don't think centralisation would have this hold on the Cryptocurrency trading industry forever ,for every victim of a Cryptocurrency exchange hack, trusting a centralised exchange again would be a very hard thing to do and little by little, people who has been victims of this are rising steadily, sometimes even scam exit by shady centralised exchanges, it would get to a stage where something phenomenal might happen and all Cryptocurrency traders would say enough is enough and they would rather move to a decentralised exchange where they could control their own funds and ensure it's safety by themselves, although I don't pray for bad things to happen to any major exchange because of the people it would affect, I would also advice people to take a close look at decentralised exchanges because it:s the future.
97  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: is this gift right? Send 0.5 ETH = 1ETH on: December 17, 2019, 04:32:25 PM
The oldest scam in the book, just checked your rank and activities to confirm for myself that you're truly a newbie to believe that something like this would ever be genuine, when you see genuine giveaways like the just concluded Keybase XLM giveaway, they would not ask you to send them any funds in other to receive the funds they want to send to you and any giveaway that asks you to send them funds first and receive a larger sum in return, then it is basically no more a giveaway and has turned into an investment and since it promises such high returns, then it's just a Ponzi scam or HYIP and both of them are your highway to being scammed on the internet, I hope you have not invested and never would.
98  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Chinese City Warns Investors: Crypto Isn’t Blockchain on: December 17, 2019, 11:11:14 AM
Does this mean that China won't be launching it's own cryptocurrency again? Because if memory serves me right, I distinctly remember an announcement about the Chinese Government launching their own cryptocurrency sometime in early 2020 or is it only their own currency that would be recognised as a legit blockchain based cryptocurrency? The Chinese government should really make up their minds about what they want.
99  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What’s the best coin to buy apart from bitcoin on: December 17, 2019, 11:04:59 AM
With how the market is going right now, the only safe coins for me is a stablecoins, converted my holdings to stablecoin automatically thanks to Stop-loss, but now might be a good entry point again and I would advice you to make your major holing Bitcoin and maybe some Ethereum and top 5 coins, they have proven overtime to be resilient and do not turn to shit overnight like we have seen with so many coins listed on exchanges from the year 2018.
100  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The misused of merit on forum..... on: December 16, 2019, 05:37:34 PM
When a post truly deserves to be merited, it can be merited as many as possible, for example someone might post a topic that and it was read and loved by 1000 people, 200 of them chose to merit the post and what you are saying is that if I read the post and it touches a chord in my heart, I shouldn't merit it just because it has been merited by others? Sometimes these things are being abused, but if you look closely, most of the merits given away are given for worthy reasons (quality or helpful posts) and last time I checked, everybody reserves the right to merit whoever they like.
